The lot was almost full when they pulled up to the store. A gasp of awe escaped her lips as she walked in beside him. The store was enormous and the books were the best that she'd ever laid her eyes upon! "May I roam around? I promise that I won't try to run." Bouncing on her feet, she pleaded, anticipating his approval.
Charles smirked and agreed, "I trust you, Lily. Buy as many books as you want, I'll be in the philosophy section."
Her feet led her to five books. Thoughts about her new master lingered loosely on her mind. He was handsome and charming... He also seemed to be nice and trusting. Bitterness swept over her. "He's a fool for trusting me, for trusting anyone," she kept these words in her mind, not wanting anyone to hear, they were already staring at her scar. The feeling of having a bit of freedom eased her mind, though.
After hours of searching, Lily sprinted her way to her master. "Charles, I'm ready to leave if you are." He raised his eyes from his book to the fourteen that she held in her arms. He stood to lead her to the cashier and let out a laugh that made her see him as sexy, adding even more to that thought. The lady at the register blushed at Xavier and quietly gave him his total, he replied with a simple smile.
As Lily strolled back towards the car she shivered at the sight of a man in his late forties striking a young girl dressed in old, torn rags. Without another hint she knew that the girl was a slave. Ashamed at having a kind master, she tore her eyes away but she couldn't stop the memory from coming back.
A child, barely the age of fourteen, picked her shaking body up from the hard, cold ground. Her move is in vain for she fellback down. Maxwell's strong hand latchedinto her hair and threwher to the wall like a broken toy. Blood fellfrom her mouth, choking her. "You think you're going to disobey me again, wrench?" His breath was hot. His voice menacing and low. She felt herself be tossed onto his bed.
"Leave me alone, rapist!" Tears stung at her eyes and her voice started to waver.
His rash voice came to her ears, "I haven't done a thing...yet." He reached at her, wanting to feel the skin of her thigh. She felt but a single fingertip before he was thrown back to the solid walls that just moments before had pained her body. The thud of his carcass hitting the wall and the silence reassured her that he was knocked out cold. Cheeks wet, she saw the indention in the sheet-rock, showing just how harshly he impacted.
Xavier, seeing the memory as well, tipped the edges of his lips in a frown. "Is that when you found out your true power?"
Lily looked down, "Yes, Charles..." Pressing his lips together, he gave a single nod and drove off to his mansion.
