“Kira!”, Hisoka shouts.

 

Kira twists in the air to get his feet underneath himself and lands on the ground in a crouch, skidding several feet backwards as he clutches his injured shoulder.

 

“Hisoka! Get away from her now!”, Kira orders.

 

“R-right…”, he stutters, still shock that it was a trap as he runs to Kira's side.

 

“Kuku-kuku… Still as caring of your comrades like your ancestor; Kei Inugami…”, the woman mocks, licking Kira's blood from her claws, “I can taste his blood runs through your veins, along side that of Yuuki Kaito…”

 

“Yeah, I'm their descendant, so what…”, Kira retorts, “What are you going to do about it, Hiromi?”

 

“Hiromi…?”, Hisoka whispers.

 

“Kuku-kuku… I'm surprised that you know my name, I thought I would have been forgotten after my 200 year absence…”, Hiromi laughs, “Well, I'm going to kill you and your friend, then hunt down the remainder of your family and the rest of the world will be mine for the feasting…”

 

“I don't think so, Hiromi…”, Kira states, taking a step forward but falters and collapses to his knees.

 

“Kira!”, Hisoka screams.

 

“Damn it… I've lost too much blood…”, he curses.

 

“You stop me? You can barely move from your injury…”, she taunts, starting to walk towards Kira and Hisoka.

 

“Hisoka…”, Kira whispers.

 

“What is it?”

 

“I want you to stay behind me…”, he says, standing back up, “I'm going to distract her and when I give the word we run…”

 

“But…”

 

“No buts… Now that she knows I'm in the area, she won't attack any other people until she kills me, okay?”

 

“Alright…”, he nods.

 

“And make sure to shield your eyes…”, Kira adds, removing a pair of dark-lens sunglasses from his pocket and puts them on, then puts one hand in front of himself towards Hiromi, “Flame of light that burns bright…

Fly in on wings of white…

And appear when I call your name…

HIKARU!”, he chants, and a bright white light flashes from his hand and out flies a glowing white bird, “Blind my foe!”, he orders.

 

The bird folds in on itself and explodes in a blinding white light that fills the area with light.

 

“Hisoka, now!”, Kira orders, grabbing him by the wrist and drags him from the lot as Hisoka continued to shield his eyes with his arm.

 

“Curses…”, Hiromi spat, still trying to block out the light from her eyes, then the light recedes and her vision slowly clears allowing her to see that her prey had escaped, “Kira huh? You've just made this hunt a little more interesting…”, she purrs in glee.

-A Few Blocks Away-

 

 

 

 

 

“Looks like we're safe…”, Kira sighs, “How are you doing, Hisoka?”

 

“I'm still seeing spots…”, he replies, blinking and seeing multi-colored spots dancing in front of him, like someone had set-off a flash-bulb in his eyes.

 

“That'll pass in a few minutes…”, Kira reassures, leaning against the wall as he slides down it clutching his shoulder.

 

“Kira, does your shoulder still hurt?”

 

“Yeah… A little…”

 

“Let me see it”

 

“No, it's fine… Y-you don't need to examine it…”, Kira protests, as Hisoka pries Kira's hand from his shoulder, feeling fear pour off of his partner.

 

The wound underneath Kira's hand was slowly, yet steadily turning into pink-healing skin nothing to be fearful about there, but the torn bandages he saw wrapped over Kira's shoulder and vanished underneath the material of his shirt and probably wrapped tightly around his chest were.

 

“Kira…”, he gasps, “You… You're a…”

-Meanwhile-

“GuShoShin… I'm done put the A-section in alphabetic-order…”, Tsuzuki announces, coming out from the jungle of book-shelves, “So what are you doing?”

 

“I'm just sorting through the cases where the persons committed suicide…”, one of the GuShoShin twins replies, typing away at his computer, “Crap… I didn't mean to click on this case…”

 

“Hmm?”, Tsuzuki hums, glancing over at the case accidentally pulled up on the screen, “Kira Inukai…?”, he reads, “Death by inducing self into diabetic-shock while in the hospital… That's one hell of a way to die, Kira-chan…”

 

“Do you know the newest Shinigami, Tsuzuki-san?”

 

“Do I know Kira Inukai, of course! We met about two years ago in Nagasaki… Kira even helped me with the case I was on…”, he answers.

 

“So you met Kira before he died…”

 

“Yeah… Had one hell of a spiritual-energy too…”, Tsuzuki laughs, “Able to read my mind and was the one who solved the case… Yet what surprised me the most was the fact that while still alive, Kira already had 3 Shikigamis and gained the fourth right in front of me…”

 

“Had Shikigamis while still a member of the living?!”, GuShoShin gasps.

 

“Even more surprising is that one of the four was a black phoenix…”, Tsuzuki continues, “Kira is one remarkable woman to be able to do that!”

 

“A black phoenix…? And… `one remarkable woman'…?”, the supernatural bird mutters, “Tsuzuki-san, are you sure were talking about the same Kira?”

 

“Kira Inukai, born in Izumo, moved to Tokyo at age 11, has long black hair and reddish-brown eyes that sparkle like garnets when excited, an empath like Hisoka, and has a little brother still among the living named; Akira Inukai, am I missing anything?”

 

“B-but… h-how…?”

 

“Oh, I did forget something… Likes to dress up like a guy when going on cases and is very convincing when she does…”, he adds, recalling the fact, “I take it you, the chief, and everyone else mistaken her for a male, right? Well, it says right here in her case-file that Kira-chan is female”, he points out.

 

GuShoShin is speechless as he gawks at the screen, seeing that what Tsuzuki had said was true.

 

“Everyone calls me absentminded, and you guys are the ones not checking the files of the new employees…”, Tsuzuki sighs, secretly glad that he knew something the others didn't know, “So she is partnered up with Hisoka, huh? It should be interesting considering her past with him… Oh, how I wish I was there to see his reaction to finding out `who' she is…”
