Chapter Five

"Return of the Cards"

Yami: SAKURA!!!

Sakura continued falling towards the ground. Yami started running to the end of the ship, but Sapphire got in his way.

Sapphire: Going somewhere?

Yami: Get out of the way Zephyr!

He punched him in the face. The punch sent Sapphire flying towards the clouds. Yami dove down to save Sakura.

Yami: DON'T WORRY SAKURA, I'LL SAVE YOU!!!
Sapphire frowned and went back on the plane.
Emerald: Do you want us to get him?

Crystal grinned.
Sapphire: Don't worry you two. Everything is going according to plan.
He looked down at Yami.

Yami: SHIT! She's falling to fast.

Sakura's eyes opened.

Sakura: AH! What the hell am I doing?
She looked down.

She screamed.

Yami: She must've wakened up.

All of the sudden, a yellow vortex appeared a couple of feet below Sakura.
Sakura: What is that?
Yami: SAKURA!!!!

Her eyes closed. In seconds, her body vanished along with the vortex.
Yami: NO!!

Sakura lied on the ground. She was asleep. Then, a noise woke her.

Sakura: Uh. What?

Sakura woke up. Tiny purple souls surrounded her.

Sakura: Where am I?
She gasped at what she saw. It was her mother. Tears were in her eyes.

Sakura: M-Mom?
Nadeshiko, Sakura's mother, smiled and nodded. Sakura smiled and hugged her. Nadeshiko had tears in her eyes as well.

Nadeshiko: Hello Sakura.

Sakura: Mom, am I dead?

Nadeshiko: No.

Sakura noticed something shiny in her mother's hand.

Sakura: What is that?

She gave Sakura a wand that was covered with the colors of the rainbow. Sakura stared at the wand.

Sakura: What's this?

Nadeshiko: The beginning.

Sakura looked confused.

Nadeshiko: I have paused time so you can be here to talk to me. This is the center of the universe, Middleverse.

Sakura: What are all these souls here?

Nadeshiko: They're not real. They're just wallpaper.

Sakura looked at her.

Nadeshiko: Don't look at me.

Sakura: I'm so confused. I mean, a guy attacked me on a plane.

Nadeshiko touched Sakura's head. Memories rushed into Sakura's head. When she let go, Sakura frowned.

Sakura: Zephyr.

Nadeshiko: He's also known as Sapphire, the Mind Master.

Sakura: That's why Arah and Cassandra attacked us as well.

Nadeshiko: Yes.

Sakura: What's this wand for?

Nadeshiko: Well, Sapphire and his crew are searching for the seven rainbow cards.

Sakura: But I can use my own wand-

Nadeshiko: No. You may be able to turn them into cards but that's not good enough. As long as those seven spirits roam the universe, every living thing is in danger.

Sakura looked at the wand.

Nadeshiko: This wand will trap them, and they can never come out.

Sakura: Then if I get only one, that's it?

Nadeshiko: Afraid not. If Sapphire touches the wand, the spirit of the card escapes.

Sakura: Oh…

Nadeshiko: There's one more flaw.

Sakura: Yes?

Nadeshiko: The seven spirits have…

Sakura: What?

Nadeshiko: They've entered the bodies of humans.

Sakura looked confused.

Sakura: What do you mean?

Nadeshiko: When the spirit escaped in Planet Tai, it was once again divided by seven. They all flew here at earth and entered seven humans.

Sakura: You mean, each spirit is inside of a human?
Nadeshiko nodded.

Sakura: How will I know?
Nadeshiko: That wand will glow whichever color is nearest.

Sakura: Is that all I need to know?

Nadeshiko: There's one more thing.

Sakura: What is it?

Nadeshiko: Make sure Sapphire doesn't find the Chosen One.

Sakura: Huh? What?

All of the sudden, a bright light glowed. Sakura covered her eyes. When she opened them, the first thing she saw was Yugi.

Yugi: Sakura, are you ok?

Sakura stood up.

Sakura: Yeah, I'm fine.

Yugi: He's back.

Sakura looked at Yugi.

Sakura: I know……
