"Duel with Darkness"

Sakura sighed. She and Yugi have been walking for hours. Yugi couldn't help but feel awkward.

Yugi: So?

Sakura: So?

Yugi stopped.

Yugi: Are we just not going to talk about it?

Sakura: Talk about what?

Yugi: Us.

Sakura: They're nothing to say about "Us". Whatever that means.

Yugi: So you're just going to pretend we never… you know?

Sakura: You mean when you took advantage over me?

She stopped and turned to Yugi.

Yugi: What are you talking about?

Sakura: My mother showed me everything. How you and Syaoran became friends, how you told me you didn't want me because I broke with Syaoran…

Yugi frowned.

Sakura: And how you came running up to my room when you saw Syaoran make out with Cassandra. I couldn't believe it. What we did meant nothing but getting back at Syaoran, wasn't it?

Yugi: That's not true at all!!

Sakura: Then what changed your mind?

Yugi: I-I-

Sakura: Don't talk to me… ever.

She continued to walk.

Yugi: Can we at least be friends?

Sakura: No.

Yugi: Why?
Sakura: Because I'm pregnant.

Yugi's eyes widened.

Meanwhile…

Joey and Tomoyo walked out of the plane.

Joey: Hey! We're in New York!

Tomoyo: I wonder where Sakura is.

Joey: Oh yeah, Yugi is gone too.

Tomoyo: Well, should we wait for them?

Joey shrugged.

Back to…

Yugi: YOU'RE WHAT?

Sakura: My doctor said I was pregnant. Oh, and in case you're wondering, you're the father.

Yugi: But- wait a second. How did Sapphire know you were going to New York?

Sakura: I don't know. My doctor told me to see-

She paused.

Yugi: You would've sensed Sapphire if he was near you.

Sakura: It's weird. I haven't felt any different. I haven't even thrown up yet.

Yugi: I think that doctor was working for him.

Sakura: I hope so. I lost Syaoran because of this.

Yugi: We can find out when we get to-

Sakura: No, I'm going to a doctor right now!

Yugi: You don't even know where we are.

Sakura looked around and gasped. Several miles away was the Eiffel Tower.

Sakura: We're in… Paris?

Yugi: Let's just go to New York.

Sakura smiled.

Sakura: Oh my god, if Tomoyo knew I was here, she'd freak.

Yugi: Can we just go to New York? You can't speak French!

Sakura: As a matter of fact, I'm taking French classes.

Yugi: Oh puh-lease!

Sakura: Fine, but how are we going to get out of here?

Yugi: I have a special technique that can teleport us here, remember?

All of the sudden, someone jumped in front of them. It was Sapphire.

Sapphire: Hello again.

Sakura: Sapphire!
Sapphire: I see your mother gave you the wand.

Sakura: That's right she did, and once I capture all the cards, I will make sure you and your father will never return.

Sapphire: Yeah, whatever. You see, I also have a wand.

He took out a black wand filled with blue stripes.

Yugi looked at it.

Sapphire: Whoever captures the most spirits after all seven spirits are captured gets the whole package.

Yugi: What do you mean?

Sapphire: If I capture four spirits and Sakura captures three, then I get all seven spirits put into my wand.

Sakura: Okay…

Sapphire: Oh, and you're not pregnant.

Sapphire raised his hands and a Duel Arena came out of the ground. Yugi was amazed.

Sapphire: Yugi, do you mind if I duel my old friend, Yami?

Yami: Why certainly.

Sapphire: That was fast.

They both climbed their way up to their side.

Sapphire: Listen carefully because this game is a little different. First, we both start with 4000 Life Points.

Yami: That's fine with me.

Sapphire: If your monster is destroyed, then your Life Points will drop the number of attack points it had.

Yami: All right.

Sapphire: Oh, and you only lose life points if a monster is in attack mode.

Yami: The rules aren't really that different.

Sapphire: Oh, well it was for me when I dueled. Now, let's shuffle our decks.

Sakura: Good luck Yugi…or Yami.

Yami: Hmm. There's something about his deck that I'm supposed to remember. Oh well.

Sapphire: Let's start the duel!

Yami looked at his cards. He smiled.

Yami: So far, so good. I call out The Dark Magician in Attack Mode!

Out on the field was a magician with a purple outfit and a sphere. Attack Pts: 2500, Defense Pts: 2100

Sapphire: That's your favorite, isn't it?

He looked at his cards.

Sakura: Those points are pretty high. Maybe Yugi, I mean Yami, will win.

Sapphire grinned.

Sapphire: Here's my favorite card. I call out Dark Paladin in Attack Mode! Attack Pts: 2900, Defense Pts: 2400

Sakura: Oh no! He has more points.

Sapphire: Now, attack Yami's Life Points!!

Yami tried to put down a card, but the magician was already gone.

Sapphire smiled.
Sapphire: You have to be quicker than that. Now, you lose 2500 Life Points.

Yami's Life Points were reduced to 1500.

Sakura: Hang in there Yami!

Yami drew another card and smiled.

Yami: I play Swords of Revealing Light, causing you Dark Paladin from attacking for three whole turns.

Sapphire frowned as several yellow swords surrounded his monster.

Yami: Now I will use the card Bakura gave me, I will bring Dark Magician Girl in Attack Mode! Attack Pts: 2000, Defense Pts: 1700.

Sakura: Yami, that's not enough points.

Sapphire: The girl has a point.

Yami: Now I'll use the Magic Card, Magic Formula! Which raises her attack points to 2500.

Sapphire: What is he up to? That's still not enough!

Yami: Now I summon Gaia the Fierce Knight in Attack Mode! Attack Pts: 2300, Defense Pts: 2100.

Yami: I believe I have one more turn.

Sapphire looked at him suspiciously.

Yami: Then I'll use Polymerization to combine them both to create The Dark Magician Knight!! Attack Pts: 4100, Defense Pts: 3800.
Sakura smiled and Sapphire frowned. The swords surrounding Sapphire's monster vanished.

Yami: Now attack the Dark Paladin!!

The monster flew to the beast and destroyed it in seconds. Sapphire's life points were reduced to 1100.

Yami: You know, Sapphire, you could've attacked me.

Sapphire smiled.

Sapphire: It's not over yet, is it?

Yami: Face it Sapphire, you haven't dueled in a while and you don't the rules very well. Just surrender. This is the easiest duel I ever had anyway.

Sapphire: I also have a Polymerization. So get ready.

He drew another card and smiled.

Sapphire: I summon Jinzo! Attack Pts: 2400, Defense Pts: 1500.

Sapphire: I also play Amplifier, which raises its attack points to 2900! Then, I'll use Swords of Revealing Light on you.

Sakura and Yami frowned.

Sapphire: Oh, I forgot to mention, Amplifier adds 300 points to Jinzo every turn. Just thought I'd let you know.

He looked at his cards and then his eyes widened. He looked at his watch and gasped.

Sapphire: Damn!
Sakura: Huh?

Sapphire: I have to go.
Yami: What?!

Sapphire: Don't you know what today is… December 24!

Sakura: Christmas is tomorrow?

Sapphire: Chao!!

He vanished.

Yugi: Man! It was getting good!

Sakura: Let's go meet up with Tomoyo and Joey. I have to get back to Japan.

Yugi: You're leaving?
Sakura: Well yeah, since I'm not pregnant, I don't have to go to New York. Besides, I wanna spend Christmas with my family.

Yugi: Can Joey and I join you?
Sakura smiled.

Sakura: Of course. Friends?
Yugi: Friends.

They both hugged each other and left Paris.

Seconds Later…

Sakura and Yugi appeared right next to Joey and Tomoyo.

Tomoyo: Ha! I beat your ass once again!

Joey: What? You cheated!
He threw his cards at Tomoyo. She laughed.

Sakura: Hey you two.

Tomoyo: Sakura? Where've you been?

Sakura: I'll tell you everything later. Guess what? I'm not pregnant!
Tomoyo: You're not?

Sakura: Nope. Yugi's taking us back home.

Yugi: Hey Joey. Let's go with them.

Joey: But what about the tournament?
Yugi: Uh, Joey. There's always gonna be another tournament sooner or later.

Joey: All right. Let's go.

The four of them held hands as Yugi took them home…

The crowd started cheering as they waited.

He walked up to her and kissed her. Tomoyo was shocked, but kissed back. Tea looked with tears.

Yugi: Sakura!
Sakura stormed out into the balcony.

Yugi: Sakura, what's going on?

She started crying.
Sakura: Syaoran has moved on!

Yugi: He did?

Sakura nodded.

Crowd: TEN… NINE… EIGHT…

Yugi: I'm so sorry your year had to start like this.

Crowd: SEVEN… SIX…

Sakura looked at Yugi. Her tears stopped.
