CHAPTER 4: Polta

"Thank you so much. I haven't had coffee in many months." Said Commander Andrei Polta.

"So, "Bit asked suspiciously, "what were you doing out there in the middle of nowhere, Polta?

If you must call me something, then know that my first name is Andrei. My friends, in childhood, called me Andy. And I was not out there by choice, but by need. I have wandered the Western Deserts for many years, since the destruction of my Storm Sworder." For one brief second, he glared at Naomi.

"Speaking of which, that Zoid exploded, and I saw no parachute…

-Because there was none to see. Instructions from Dr. Layon, we had no parachutes, instead, we packed survival gear. In the event of an attack, we were simply to jump, having slowed our Zoid enough. I was thrown from it, as I'd already opened the canopy, and untied my harness when the final shot hit." A sad look overcame his ash-gray eyes. His once dark blue hair was well along the process of turning Gunmetal-gray. Stress, no doubt. He wasn't much older than Brad.

"I deeply regretted the loss of a Zoid I'd owned for 5 ½ years. But I moved on. I lived off what I could find, and the hospitality of others, after my supply of food expired. Having a gun, and plenty of cartridges, I would hunt when I could, and poach when I could not. Eventually, I ran out of bullets, and I sold my gun. And at one point, not long ago, I sprained my ankle. That is where your friends found me.

Shit." Came a voice, from behind them. "That's too bad. You gonna be okay, Andy?

"SANDERS!! Where is Stoller? I wish to speak with him.

"Find your old boss. The filthy turncoat shouldn't be too far from there." Answered Sanders.

"Hard to believe it. You were once so loyal to him.

Things change. He almost killed me, and would have, if I had been piloting my Dark Horn, and not an Elephander. His Command-type is very powerful." At Polta's confused look, he explained. "When we…quit, Captain Stoller and I acquired both BattleJack prototypes.

Both Elephanders? How did they not…

They did not know about the second, the one piloted by Stoller. I've always officially been the first Elephander pilot. Now, Raven, why not tell us the end of your tale?"

He was addressing a tall youth, whose jet-black hair and determined look seemed familiar. Yet, he was only about 12 yrs old. The Commission had found the birth certificate for Aslan Obscura, who was supposed to be dead. This boy had to be him.

"I retrieved my Zoids, and equipped the Whale King. All are on board, except for the Fury. I left it in its original place, but I took the Liger, and Shadow and I proceeded to begin attacking Commission facilities. Then, after the last attack, in the Daegan Peninsula, I left, and headed here, stopping only once along the way.

"So you're Him. The Shadow. The one who's been destroying tactical facilities, for over a year, with the help of a Black Organoid…God damn." Polta whispered, as his eye settled upon Shadow, and the strange mark on Raven's cheek. "Aslan Obscura…

Aslan Obscura is DEAD!" He snapped. "Shadow! We're leaving!" The Organoid rose, and growled a brief good-bye to the other two Organoids, Siege and Night. Then, his ice-blue eyes narrowed as he saw Polta, though the Siscos he knew, as well as Chris Tasker. His eyes were a frightening thing, both hateful and kind, and he was a deadly and beautiful sight to behold. He walked past, following his partner to the jet-black Zoid outside: The Liger Zero X Imperium.

As he left, so did the ominous chill Andy had felt down his spine. He breathed deeply, and thanked them all, before lying on the couch, and falling asleep.

"Well then." Jack said. "Kelly and I will be leaving now. Alex can stay for a while. But he's gotta be back tomorrow. We have a battle to train for. Seeya, Brad, Bit.

Seeya, Jack." And the mercenary left.

Meanwhile, far away, two people were having a rather serious conversation. One, a man, had fiery red hair, and purposeful, black eyes. The other, an attractive young woman, had blue hair that matched her deep eyes. Both wore black, with hints of red and blue.

"Do you really think I'll tell you? Not even I know where either of them is.

Is that so? We know he left the Daegan Peninsula, but where did he go?" he slapped her. She was bound to a chair, hands and feet, with guns to her head from all around the room. Yet still she defied him. "Fuck you! You're not even capable of capturing a little girl. You delivered the Death Stinger to the Backdraft Commission, which you once FOUGHT! If you had not been such a coward, all of Zi would have remained free!" She spat in his face

He punched her, hard. "You will tell me where they are, or die, you filthy bitch!

Fuck you, asshole!" she said. Then, she smiled, and darkness took her.
