CHAPTER 9: Conflict causes Conflict

In the Imperial Capital city of Guygalos, Representatives from all 3 Governments of the Planet Zi, as well as the current battle Commission, were meeting to discuss the "Zaber Fang" situation. There were also military representatives: Emperor Rudolf had come accompanied by Lt Colonel Karl Alexander Lichen Schubaltz, and his brother, Lieutenant Thomas Richard Schubaltz. President Camford had brought with her General Krueger, and an old friend of her late brother, Major O' Connell. Meanwhile, The small kingdom of Arcadia had sent 4 representatives. Prince Atory, its ruler, as well as Colonel Treize Khushrenada, and his protégé, young Captain Zechs Merchise, nicknamed "The Lightning Count" because of his former political status, and his Zoid, a white Lightning Saix. Also representing Arcadia was a 17-year old political analyst named Dorothy Catalonia. As for the Backdraft, they sent a political analyst, Relena Peacecraft, and General Altiel, the Chairman of the Commission. The debate would be presided over by Prime Minister Homaleff.

"This meeting will now come to order. Will the delegates please take their seats." Homaleff nodded approvingly, as everyone sat down. "This counsel of the four political and military powers of the Planet Zi was called today to discuss the problem of the mysterious Zaber Fangs which have been attacking assets of the Commission throughout the Continents. Among the major targets were Mt Osa, Red River, and major installations of the Eastern Continent. We are here to decide once and for all what to do about this problem. Emperor Rudolf, you have the floor.

Thank you, Prime Minister Homaleff. As you know, for the past few years, we've been plagued by attacks on military facilities. All reports agree that it was one Zoid, except for a few, which reported two. For this, I defer to Colonel Schubaltz.

Thank you." The blonde-haired officer sat up, and glanced around the room. "Miss Relena, I'll have to ask you to pay attention. Now, what we know for sure, is that a red Zaber Fang Zoid was involved in the attacks. Or, recently, two. We're also fairly certain that Zoids with Charged-particle Guns have recently become involved as well. What seems a bit obscure, though, is this "other" Zoid, first suspected on involvement about a year ago, and allegedly spotted once or twice since. My brother will be describing it to us." Without rising, Thomas clicked a remote, and the Zaber Fang statistical data was replaced by a slightly blurred photograph of a reptilian Zoid.

"Now, from various shots in this Sleeper memo-bank camera footage, this Zoid appears to be about 7 or 8 ft in height, black. Thrusters in these strange triangular projections on the back, and quite fast. Also, its fluid movement, patterns of attack, and overall organic appearance makes it easy to identify this as an Organoid, and…

Actually, there have been as man as 4 documented Organoids in a period of 2 years, and the Blitz Team currently has two more. If you'll remember the Dark Spiner Zoid, 20 years ago, its pilot owned an Organoid, still with the Blitz Team. And my sources tell me that same Organoid is the reason the Blitz Team currently possesses a GenoBreaker." Answered Dorothy Catalonia. Then, young Captain Merchise continued "I myself had the privilege of glimpsing the Blitz Team's Organoids in Romeo City last month, and from what I saw, this Black Zoid is another. However, reports from Arcadia seemed to describe the mystery Zoid as looking more like this." A sketch was passed around, from Colonel Khushrenada's pocket.

"I was getting to that, Captain. As he said, some reports described the Organoid as having blue armor, and only 3 spikes on its head, two of them facing forward. Here is a sleeper photo. Major O'Connell, your turn.

That's it. In fact, I do believe that two reports came in simultaneously, from 2 different locations, after last week's two-pronged attack. I believe, ladies and gentlemen, that we have two Organoids against us.

Shut up about things you don't understand, you little bitch!" interjected Thomas "The Guardian Force was a paramilitary organization founded by the Empire and Republic roughly 2000 years ago, to combat increasing terrorist threats. It was composed of only the best. And I think this should be put to a vote.

I agree with Lt Schubaltz." Said the president. "These attackers have no fixed base, so the Military's no good. The Guardian Force would be perfect.

Treize. First off, I believe the obvious choice would be the Blitz Team. Probably, the Eisen Dragoon and Gojulas Teams as well. And, of course, the Guardian Team, Lightning Team, Wild Eagles Team, and Millenium Squadron, the elite team in Arcadia.

The White Fangs Team would gladly accept the Challenge, Colonel. And every Team in the Force would be registered with the Commission as Military squadrons."

An excellent idea, Captain." Answered Col. Krueger. "Another suggestion would be the Fuma Team, Ligers Team, and the mercenaries Alex Sisco and Andrew Pearson."

Indeed they would!" said the president. "All right, then. We'll vote by show of hands. All those in favor of reinstating the Guardian Force, raise your hands."

Almost every hand went up. "All those against?" Altiel and Miss Relena Peacecraft raised their hands, almost regretfully. Lt Thomas Schubaltz was jubilant.

"The Ayes have it! There will be a new Guardian Force!"
