The Old Gumbie Cat

*Munkustrap turns around and some of the cats hold their out paws to him while other move away. After touching the cats' paws, he starts to sing, unaware of - or just ignoring - Quaxo standing behind him, dancing and ignoring the other cats snickering.*

Munkustrap

I have a gumbie cat in mind

Her name is Jennyanydots

*Quaxo sits down, slightly embarrassed and the other kittens playfully bap him.*

Munkustrap

*now just ignoring Quaxo and the other kittens*

Her coat is of the tabby kind

With tiger stripes…

*imitates a tiger clawing*

Etcetera

*imitates tiger (poorly) as well*

Munkustrap

… And leopard spots

*shakes hips*

Rumpleteazer

*shakes hips as well; giggling*

Munkustrap

All day she sits beneath the stair

Or on the steps

*motions for Quaxo to go to car*

Or on the mat

*dances over to the car*

She sits and sits and sits and sits

And that's what makes a gumbie cat

*The car trunk opens, revealing Jennyanydots wearing a large gray-violet coat, boots, gloves and hat and sleeping.*

That's what makes a gumbie cat

*Jennyanydots opens her eyes with a yawn and sits up.*

Demeter Bombalurina and Jellylorum

*hold their paws out in front of them*

But…

When the day's hustle and bustle is done

Then the gumbie cat's work is but hardly begun

*Jennyanydots gets out of the car trunk*

When all the family's in bed and asleep

She tucks up her skirts to the basement to creep

She is deeply concerned with the ways of the mice

Jennyanydots

*motions for Etcetera, Victoria and Demeter to leave *

Their behavior's not good and their manners not nice

*Etcetera Victoria and Jemima come back and sit before Jennyanydots wearing mouse masks*

Demeter Bombalurina and Jellylorum

And when she's got them lined up on the matting

She teaches them…

Jennyanydots

… Music crocheting and tatting.

*Jennyanydots Etcetera Victoria and Jemima begin to pantomime sewing while Munkustrap looks over Jennyanydots's shoulder.*

Munkustrap

*looks away*

I have a gumbie cat in mind

Her name is Jennyanydots

The curtain cord she likes to wind

And tie it into sailor's knots

She sits upon the windowsill

Or anywhere that's smooth and flat

She sits and sits and sits and sits

And that's what makes a gumbie cat

That's what makes a gumbie cat

Demeter Bombalurina and Jellylorum

*walk so they're just behind Munkustrap and Jennyanydots*

But…

*dance*

When the day's hustle and bustle is done

Then the gumbie cat's work is but hardly begun

*Pouncival walks into view dressed as a cockroach*

She thinks that the cockroaches…

… Just need employment!

To prevent them from…

… Idle and wanton destroy-ment!

So she's formed from that lot

Of disorderly louts

At troop of well disciplined

Helpful boy sctouts

With a purpose in life and a good deed to do

Demeter Bombalurina and Jellylorum

*While Munkustrap is unbuttoning off Jennyanydots's coat*

And she's even created a beetle's tattoo!

*When Jennyanydots's coat is undone and her gloves off, Demeter, Bombalurina and Jellylorum help take off her boots and hat. When Munkustrap takes off her coat, her fur is now long and dark lavender with lighter spots. The other cats, dressed as cockroaches dance out and the group tap dances. At some point near the end of the song, Munkustrap, Demeter, Bombalurina and Jellylorum dance out not as roaches.*

*at the end of the dance; salute Jennyanydots*

For she's a jolly good fellow…

Thank you, my dears

*The music ends and the roaches leave, Jennyanydots smiles and touches paws with Jellylorum, Demeter, Bombalurina and Munkustrap. Suddenly…*

Chapter done! And now that this is done, I can go to my one true love… *goes and sits in Rumpleteazer's lap; lights a candle, takes a chocolate bar, sticks a toothpick in it and holds it over the flame* Chocolate. ^^

Teazer: Con I 'ave some?

Angel: Of course. ^^ *hands Rumpleteazer a toothpick*

Teazer: ^^

Yami: And me?

Angel: *hands toothpick*

Yami: ^^ *looks around while heating chocolate* … Where's Bakura?

Angel: *doing the same* How should I know - I'm not his keeper! … Am I?

Teazer and Yami: *shrug*

Angel: … Oh well. So long as he didn't take my box or chocolate I don't care.

Yami: But he's you--

Angel: I said "I don't care".

Yami and Teazer: … Good enough. *continues roasting chocolate* ^^

Angel: *flips on box before doing the same; distractedly* Till next time… Ooo Fire…
