Crossing time
Part 3 (Omi)
By Yami Kitsune
Time passed quickly in the desert for Omi. It had been nearly three months since Omi had been found in the desert by the band of thieves. He had been staying in the caves with them. The two he spent most of his time with were Marik, and Bakura. Bakura was the leader of the band of thieves, and Marik was his best friend. Although Omi sometimes wondered if there was more then just friendship. But Marik had told him that they just used each other to relieve sexual frustration.
Omi had been quick to learn the new language. But it was mostly thanks to Marik's quick thinking. He had come up with a way for Omi to learn Egyptian. For the first month and a half, Marik had literally led Omi around by his hand, pointing to things saying their name and having Omi repeat them. Omi found it fun, but after a while he was starting to feel like a parrot.
Now Omi would just draw pictures in the dirt or on a rock and Marik would tell him the name of it. Other things Omi just picked up on his own. It was really quite easy, once he had the vowels memorized.
Omi was really having fun, now that he could understand most of what people were saying. Omi glanced up from where he was writing in the dirt. Bakura was reading through some scrolls he had stolen on the most resent heist. Omi had tried to teach Bakura to speak Japanese, but thought that Omi was just making most of it up.
“Hey Omi.” Marik said as he came into the room. Omi turned and looked at him. He smiled. He really liked Marik a lot, he was fun to be around. And the more he hung around him, the more Omi found that he liked to play practical jokes. Mainly on Bakura. The most resent one, was one that Omi had shown Marik. They had put a bucket of water above the door that was triggered to dump when someone stepped on the string it was attached to. Marik had thought that was the funniest thing in the world. The only thing Omi hoped, was that Bakura didn't find out that it was his idea, and not Marik's.
“Hi Marik-kun.” Omi giggled when Mark went over and kissed his cheek. Bakura's head snapped up from the scroll and glared. Bakura found himself watching Omi lately. And he would get mad whenever he saw Marik touch the blonde boy or kiss him. Marik glanced up at Bakura and grinned before whispering something in Omi's ear. Omi blinked and glanced at Bakura before blushing. Marik grinned satisfied with the reaction and went over to sit next to Bakura on the pillows.
“What in Ra's name was that all about?” Bakura asked. Marik smirked at him.
“Why do you want to know?”
“Just curious.” Bakura said and went back to reading the scroll. Marik leaned in closer so only Bakura could hear him.
“Curious? Or jealous?” He whispered.
“Why in Ra's name would I be Jealous!?”
“Because, I've been sleeping with little Omi over there for the past month.” Marik said and sat back. His grinned widened when he saw Bakura's face turn red with anger, even though the tomb robber tried to hide it.
“You WHAT?!” Omi jumped at the sudden shout and turned to look at the two on the pillows. Marik backed up a little bit, then glanced at Omi and winked at him. Omi had to hold back his giggles. Marik was teasing Bakura again; this was going to be amusing.
“Well, you wouldn't let the kid sleep in here. So he's been sleeping in my room since he got here. What did you expect would happen?” Marik smiled. Bakura's eye twitched, but he sat back. He grabbed the scroll nearly tearing it and went back to reading. Marik sat up and straitened himself out.
“Omi, come here.” Marik said in Japanese. Bakura glanced at him glaring slightly. Bakura knew that Omi had been teaching Marik Japanese, he just didn't think that he had actually learned it. Omi stood up and brushed the dirt off his pants before going over to Marik. Marik grabbed Omi by the waist and pulled him down on his lap. Omi yelped at the unexpected movement. Marik smiled at him and kissed his cheek. Omi's face turned bright red but he smiled at Marik. Bakura growled a little.
“What are you two doing?” he asked glaring at Marik.
“I'm going to make out with my new lover.” Marik said making Bakura glare more. Marik couldn't help it, he burst out laughing.
“By Ra Bakura! You are TOO easy to tease sometimes!” He fell back as he laughed, making Omi fall off his lap.
“I am not!” Bakura snapped.
“You're jealous because you think I'm sleeping with a kid!” Marik laughed more. Bakura threw a pillow at Marik hitting him in the face. He flailed as he ripped the pillow off his face.
“What was that for!?”
“Your laugh is annoying.” Bakura said as he turned away, only to be hit in the back of the head with a pillow. He slowly turned back to glare at Marik.
“Do that again, and you'll…” Bakura wasn't even able to finish his sentence when another pillow hit him in the face. Marik grinned at him. With a loud cry Bakura pounced Marik.
Omi stared with wide eyes at the two of them wrestled around hitting each other with the pillows. It wasn't long before the two were covered in the pillows. Omi blinked when the pillows suddenly stopped moving. Frowning Omi slowly walked over and lifted one of the pillows. His eyes went wide and he backed away quickly when he saw the two of them were currently at the beginning of what appeared to be a very heavy make out session. Omi slowly made his way back to the door before stepping out. He had learned the hard way, not to bother those two when they were doing that stuff.
Omi sighed and turned walking down the small passageway leading out into the caves. When he went out he looked around. There weren't as many bandits as there was a few months ago. On one of the raids a lot of them had been killed by the pharaoh's guards. And a lot of them were still wounded. Omi had only heard about what happened, from Marik. Omi wasn't allowed to go with them, not until Bakura said he could.
Omi walked past some of the bandits. Few of them smiled at him, while others glared. Omi wasn't sure what he had done to make them hate him so much. That was, until he passed a small group of three.
“Look, that's the kid that got Honda killed.” One of them said.
“Don't do anything stupid Keith, Bakura and Marik wouldn't be pleased if the kid got hurt.”
“Yeah, you don't' want to end up like Honda and the others, do you?”
“Do I look like I care!? Let Bakura kill me, as long as I get to take that kid with me.” Keith said and started towards Omi, who still had his back to them. Keith pulled his fist back ready to punch. A split second before his fist connected with the back of Omi's head. Omi dodged out of the way and grabbed Keith's wrist, twisting it. Keith cried out and held his now sprained wrist. He glared at Omi.
“You little shit!” He screamed and went to punch him with his good hand. Omi dodged again, but Keith kept coming at him. Omi was soon backed into a wall. Keith grinned and charred. Omi looked around quickly for a place to go, that's when he saw a cliff above him. It was high enough, he could probably jump. Omi moved forward a little and did a back flip onto the cliff, nearly kicking Keith in the jaw.
Omi smiled innocently down at Keith who was screaming something in Egyptian that Omi couldn't understand. Keith grabbed the side of the cliff and started climbing after Omi. Omi blinked at him and sighed. He looked around again. There was another ledge not too far off, this one slightly smaller. Omi took half a step back, and just as Keith reached the top, Omi jumped to the other one. Landing on one foot and crouching until he was sure he had his balance then he stood up.
All across the cave people watched the two of them. Omi jumping with ease from ledge to ledge. And Keith climbing after. Omi soon got tired of jumping, so he jumped to a higher cliff and sat there. He smiled down at Keith who was now trying to climb up the wall, but there was no where for him to grab onto. Omi swung his feet and giggled at Keith's frustrated face. (AN: He's definitely been hanging around Marik to long)
Down in the crowed that had formed to watch the two. People where whispering to each other.
“That boy has the agility of a cat…”
“Yeah, and the personality to match.” Another guy said.
“Quick, someone should go get Bakura.”
“Right!” someone ran off to get Bakura and Marik. While Omi continued to sit on the ledge and watch Keith try and climb the wall. Omi scooted back on the ledge and leaned back sighing.
~*~
“Bakura! Marik, come quickly!” Bakura looked up and glared as this curtain was quickly pushed aside.
“Jou,” Bakura growled glaring at him. But Jou ignored it.
“You two have to come quickly. Keith has lost his mind. And he's been chasing the kid all around the caves!” Jou said. Bakura sat up quickly and pulled his robe on. Marik followed him.
“Will these people ever LEARN!?” He growled Jou led the two bandits out into the caves. Omi had moved from his cliff and was now climbing and jumping around again, while Keith tried to follow.
“Shit.” Marik cursed and went to pull his knife out to throw at Keith, but Bakura raised his hand stopping him.
“Wait Marik…” He said as he watched Omi. Omi stopped on another cliff and turned to look at Keith.
“Wow, why are you a bandit? You can barely climb the cliffs. I'm not even out of breath yet.” Omi taunted. Keith screamed in furry and pulled out his knife throwing it at Omi. Omi lifted his hand and caught it right before it hit his chest. Keith and everyone else gaped at Omi.
“You can't even throw a knife? Here, let me show you how it's done.” Omi said and held it like he would one of his darts, and threw it at Keith. Keith put up his arm to catch it like Omi had. But missed it, and got his hand pinned to the cave wall with the knife. He screamed in pain as the knife priced his skin, blood dripping down his arm. Omi sighed and shook his head.
He started climbing down when Keith's friends started climbing up to get Keith down. When Omi reached the bottom Marik and Bakura were there to meet him.
“Where did you learn to throw a knife like that?” Bakura asked. Omi blinked at him and shrugged. Bakura glared. “Tell me where you learned that.”
“I don't remember.” Omi lied. He swallowed hard when Bakura put a hand around his shoulder. Marik grinned at him.
“Oh well.” Bakura smiled at him. “You are now officially one of my bandits.” Omi stared at him eyes wide.
“…what?”
“You get to come with us on our next heist kid.” Marik said. Omi couldn't help but smile. He had been feeling left out when everyone left.
“If he's one of us now Bakura. He's going to need a bandit name.” Marik said.
“….a bandit…name?” Omi blinked.
“Yeah, you can't use your real name. Because if you go out and people hear your name. They'll know who you are.” Marik said. “All of us have bandit names. Like Bakura, his name is, Akeifa, and mine is Ishtar.” Marik smiled.
“Oh…makes sense…” Omi said.
“I know what we could call him Bakura!” Jou said. Bakura looked over at him.
“And what is that?”
“Miu.” Jou said and smiled. Omi blinked.
“Miu? Why Miu?” Marik looked confused.
“If you had seen the way he was jumping around, you would agree. That kid has the agility of a cat.”
“Miu. I like it.” Bakura smiled. “From now on, you're bandit name is Miu.” Bakura smiled and ruffled Omi's hair.
“This calls for a celebration! Let's go rob someone!!” Marik shouted. And everyone cheered. Omi smiled as he watched everyone. He was amazed at how this was becoming home to him. And how easily he was forgetting his life as an assassin.
Part 3 (Nagi)
Nagi sat out on the balcony. The sun was setting, making the city of Cairo look like it was on fire. Nagi liked watching the sunset. It was the only time he got to relax and be alone. He looked up at the sky and sighed when he saw the stars starting to come out. Sethos would be coming back soon. Nagi stood in one swift motion heading back inside.
Nagi's pants swayed as he walked. The loose fabric felt good in this hot desert heat. That was the only thing Nagi was grateful for, that they gave him loose cloths to wear. All his had been lost in the plane crash. But the only thing Nagi wanted was to go home. Or just to have his powers back. If he had to stay here, then at least he could have his powers. Nagi didn't know why they had suddenly left. He had spent countless nights thinking about it, to the point where he almost had a migraine.
Without his powers, the only thing Nagi could do was please his `master' Sethos. Nagi wasn't strong enough to do any heavy labor, so he had been taught how to dance. It was better then the other choice he had, and that was to become a `pleasure slave'. But Nagi had a feeling, if he didn't stop being so clumsy with doing the little things his master wanted him to, he would be forced to become a pleasure slave anyway.
Nagi sighed as he went over to a table that had a bowl of water, and a vase next to it. Sethos always liked to have fresh water in the bowl when he came in, so he could clean up a bit after a long day. Nagi emptied the bowl of water before refilling it with fresh water. He was just setting the vase back down when the door slammed open and Sethos stomped in.
“That stupid pharaoh!” Sethos snapped as the door closed behind him. Nagi jumped and turned quickly. Sethos was in another bad mood…that… wasn't good. “Egypt was not meant to be ruled by a teenage brat! And what is he going to do about those thieves…Akeifa and Ishtar? He just lets them prance around steeling things. Doing as they please!” Sethos took off his robe and threw it. Nagi slowly moved over to pick it up.
Sethos ignored him as he turned and kicked over a vase. He was so sick and tired of dealing with the pharaoh. Nagi jumped when the vase shattered. He dropped the robe back to the floor. Sethos took a deep breath calming down a little. Until he looked at the shards of clay on the floor.
“Look what you made me do boy!” Sethos said looking at Nagi who stared at him with wide eyes.
“But I didn't…” Nagi stopped talking as Sethos advanced on him quickly.
“Were you talking back to me?! Sethos asked glaring down at Nagi who started to tremble. “Well!?” Nagi shook his head. Sethos glared more and grabbed a fist full of Nagi's hair.
“You break a vase, talk back to me, and then lie about it!” Sethos yelled and raised his hand to slap Nagi. Nagi put his hands up quickly to block the blow. When Sethos was suddenly thrown across the room. Nagi stared at his hands for a second before running to the door. He didn't know why his powers came back so suddenly. But he wasn't going to stand around thinking about it.
Nagi had just reached the door when a wave of dizziness hit him. And once again he felt his powers leave him. He fell to his knees. He stared down at his hands. “…why…” He felt tears forming his eyes. Nagi wasn't able to gather all this thoughts when Sethos grabbed him and pulled him to his feet. Nagi cried out.
“You are in for the beating of your life!!” Sethos yelled. Nagi closed his eyes tightly as Sethos raised his hand to strike. A loud `slap' filled the room just as there was a knock on the door. Nagi held his cheek as Sethos glared at him.
“Enter.” He said looking up at the door. The door opened a little and Mokuba came in. He glanced at Nagi before looking up at Sethos.
“Master Sethos. The pharaoh sent me to tell you, you are to join him for dinner. There is a special guest coming.” Mokuba said bowing a little. Sethos growled.
“Fine. Tell him I will be there.” Sethos said. Mokuba nodded and left the room. Sethos looked back at Nagi who was sitting up, his cheek red from the slap.
“Get up and get ready. You will be performing tonight. Now move your ass. Or you will get more then a slap on the cheek. And if you screw up tonight, expect an even worse punishment later.” Sethos said going over and grabbing his robe before leaving the room. Nagi watched him go before burying his face in his hands.
“I want to go home.” He whispered to himself forcing back tears. He whipped his eyes before standing and going to get ready. He had to do everything perfect tonight.
~*~
Sethos walked into the dinning hall and stopped in the doorway when he saw Marik Ishtar sitting Next to Yami. Marik Ishtar, a nobleman who's family had been friends with the royal family for decades. Sethos sighed wondering why he had to be present at dinner. Yami looked up and smiled at Sethos.
“Sethos, glad you could join us.” yami looked around. “Where is your servant? Is he not joining us tonight?” Yami asked when he didn't see nagi anywhere.
“He will be performing for us tonight my pharaoh.” Sethos said bowing before he sat down.
“Excellent.” Yami smiled and looked at Marik. “The boy is a wonderful dancer. He puts shame to most of the female ones.” Yami said smiling as he took a sip of his wine. Marik smiled. He found it hard to believe that a boy dancer could dance better then the female ones. Even though Marik had seen some good looking male dancers in his life, they were not as flexible, or fair-skinned as the females.
There was a sudden silence, then the band of musicians started into a slow, pounding rhythm. All eyes turned to the wide doorway at the side of the room as one by one the dancers came out. Sethos smiled when he saw Nagi come out. He was decorated in jewels and loose fabric that moved with his limbs as he danced. If the top of his shirt hadn't been open, to reveal the nipple piercings Sethos had given him a month before, then he could be confused with a girl. As it was, he was a lot better looking then the other dancers.
Marik's mouth nearly dropped open when he saw Nagi. He watched as the boy's hips moved to the music as he danced over to the table. Nagi carefully avoided Sethos, not really wanting to be near the high priest right now.
Marik looked Nagi over, noting that there was something about this boy that set him apart from other slaves. Like the fact that his skin was pretty much flawless, and he was far too light-skinned to have grown up in Egypt. He almost reminded Marik of Omi. Marik was to busy thinking that he didn't notice where Nagi was dancing, and he moved his foot out accidentally tripping Nagi. Nagi yelped as he fell over landing right on top of Marik. Marik blinked at him before grinning.
“Wow. I knew I was attractive, but you could have chosen a more private place to jump me.” Marik grinned. Nagi's face turned bright red and he scurried off of Marik backing up as quickly as he could. Nagi looked at Marik horrified.
“o…oh my god! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!” Nagi said as Marik sat up straightening his clothes. Nagi was so panicked now that he slipped into speaking Japanese. Nagi pressed his forehead on the floor as he continued to ramble.
Sethos growled and stood up. He walked over to Nagi and roughly pulled him to his feet by his hair. Nagi screamed not expecting that and reached up grabbing Sethos's hand trying to get him to let go. Marik watched as Nagi was dragged off, still screaming in Japanese.
“Let go please Sethos-sama! Gomen nasai! Gomen nasai!” Sethos ignored Nagi's pleas. Marik listened as Nagi's cries died down as he was dragged further away. Yami sighed and took a sip of wine.
“That is the only thing wrong with that slave. He can be very clumsy. I hope you are not upset with him.” Yami asked. Marik shook his head.
“No, it's not every day I have a cute boy falling into my lap.” Marik smirked making Yami chuckle.
“Yes, he really is a good looking boy. I have been tempted a time or two to take him as my own slave.” Yami smiled.
“So tell me Pharaoh, where did you find him?”
“Sethos found him breaking into the palace. We kept him here for a while, and I had it announced that the boy had been found. But no one claimed him. So he was taken in as Sethos's slave, around the time that the dry season started.” Yami said putting some grapes on his plate. Marik frowned as he drank some wine.
//The dry season…that's about the time that we found Omi…I wonder if they know each other. They speak the same language.// Marik thought as he set his cup down and stood. He bowed to Yami.
“I am sorry to cut this visit short my pharaoh, but I must get back home tonight.” Yami stood.
“Yes, of course. I will have my guards show you out.” Yami said. Marik smiled politely at him.
“No that's alright. I've been here so many times; I believe I know my own way out.” Marik bowed again before leaving. Marik walked down the hallway for a little ways before looking around. Making sure no guards were watching, he took the hallway leading to Sethos's room. He had to see the slave boy again. He stopped outside the large door and listened. He could hear Sethos and Nagi inside.
~*~
“You stupid boy!! Do you know how lucky you are that I don't KILL you right now!?” Sethos yelled as he slapped Nagi across the face. Nagi fell to the floor holding his cheek. He stared up at Sethos with wide eyes.
“I…I'm sorry sir!” Nagi said backing away from the high priest. Sethos advanced on him. He lifted Nagi up and threw him onto the bed. There was a dull `thud' as Nagi's head hit the head bored. Neither Nagi or Sethos noticed the dark figure standing on the balcony. Eyes narrowed as he watched Sethos climb on top of Nagi, pinning his arms down.
“No!” Get off! Please get off!” Nagi cried as Sethos pulled his shirt off, throwing it across the room. Nagi struggled as Sethos's hand ran down his body stopping at the hem of his pants. Nagi closed his eyes tightly a couple tears rolling down the side of his face.
“I told you tonight was your last chance boy.” Sethos growled. Nagi began to cry as he felt Sethos's hand slowly making its way into his pants.
“Please….don't…” Nagi cried more still trying to pull away. Sethos leaned down and kissed Nagi. Nagi screamed against him. More tears escaped Nagi's eyes as he kept them tightly closed. He didn't even dare open them, when the weight of Sethos suddenly disappeared. There was the sound of a body falling to the floor.
“Oi, you alright?” Marik asked in Japanese. Nagi's eyes shot open when he heard that. He stared at Marik, recognizing him from the dining hall.
“You…you speak Japanese!?” Nagi asked eyes wide still shining with tears. Marik smiled at him and shook his head.
“Iie. I only know a little.” He said switching back to Egyptian. “So, are you okay?” He asked looking Nagi over. There was a bruise forming under Nagi's eye, where he had been slapped twice that night. Nothing too bad, though.
“I…I think so…” Nagi said glancing down on the floor where Sethos was laying.
“Don't worry about him. I just knocked him out. He'll wake up by morning at least.” Marik said.
“…if…if you don't mind me asking….how do you know Japanese?” Nagi asked.
“Huh? Oh, Omi taught me. I'll tell you later. We better get out of here before someone decides to check on this old sour puss.” Marik said pointing to Sethos. Nagi barely heard anything else Marik said.
//Omi?....no, it can't be Weiss….could it?//
“Mr Marik….sir…” Marik turned and made a face.
“Enough, don't call me MISTER. Makes me feel old. Don't let Bakura hear you call me mister. He'll never let me live it down.” Marik said. Nagi flinched back a little lowering his head.
“….s…sorry…” he said softly. Marik sighed and ruffled his hair.
“I'm not mad. Just don't call me that.” Marik smiled. Nagi glanced at him.
“anou…I was wondering…who is…bakura?”
“Oh, you probably know him as Akeifa.” Marik smiled when Nagi's eyes went wide.
“A…Akeifa!? You KNOW him!?” Nagi asked sounding shocked. Marik laughed.
“Know him! That bastard's like my brother!...well brother isn't really the right word for it. Considering I do sleep with him from time to time.” Nagi just stared. Marik shook his head. “Never mind. I'm leaving now, I'm going to give you the choice to stay here, or come with me.” Marik said. Nagi didn't even have to think about that one.
“I want to come with you.” He said. Marik nodded and in one motion lifted Nagi off the bed, draping him over his shoulder he headed to the window. Nagi flailed.
“What are you doing?!”
“Well, it's faster if I carry you out.”
“Carry me out!? Why?”
“We have to use the window. I don't' think the Pharaoh or his guards would exactly like me walking out of the high priest's room with his slave draped over my shoulder.” Marik smiled as he climbed down a vine. Nagi huffed and just let himself be carried down. Nagi's mind started to wonder as Marik made his way out. He wondered if it really was Omi Marik had been talking about. But it had to be Omi, how else would this person know Japanese?
Marik carried Nagi out to his horse and set him on top before climbing up behind him. He glanced back at the palace making sure no guards had seen him. With a swift kick the two boys were heading into the desert.

Okay! I hope you liked this chapter! ^-^ And as for Omi's part. For those of you who haven't figured it out yet. Miu means “He or she who mews.” It's the Egyptian word for cat, Miu, or Mii. ^-^

//Omi?....no, it can't be Weiss….could it?//
“Mr Marik….sir…” Marik turned and made a face.
