A/N: This was a story I wrote many years ago after receiving a Hiei action figure for Christmas. My sister had a Malik figure, and since they both were able to move (and we had just discovered the wonderful world of yaoi), we put them in all kinds of strange poses. It was then that I got the idea of a crossover fiction with this pairing. It's actually finished, but as I update it, I'm rewriting it and updating it. It's amazing how much your vocabulary changes in just a few years XD
I hope you all enjoy it!
Chapter Two
Hiei had arrived at the museum quicker than he had expected to. The training on the cliffs had benefited more than just the Dark Tournament after all. He walked quickly through the museum, silently praying there would be few people around. He could steal the New Year's Ball from Time's Square and get it halfway to Tokyo before anyone would notice it was missing. But he preferred not to be so obvious about his abilities. It stopped interference and investigations. Luck was with him this time, as the only person in the museum was a tanned blonde sitting at the front desk. Looking closer, Hiei noticed that he was sleeping. He had probably fainted from the fumes created while he dyed his hair that platinum blonde color. Hiei chuckled to himself. What some people did to fit into the `cool' crowd these days. They were lucky they were nothing but human, because they would be the first to die in the demon world. Forgetting the boy for the moment, Hiei continued his personal tour of the museum. He glanced at all the objects on display, getting a taste of the magical aura that had been in the underground. At least one of the items had to have been here, and more than likely still was. He saw mummies, ancient relics, and plenty of other things that Kurama would love to get his hands on. But nothing fit the descriptions he had received of the Millennium items, nor put off any sort of magical aura. Then again, he couldn't read the hieroglyphics that were on the item, so he could be staring right at one of them and never know the difference. Damn old magicians concealing their items auras using their cursed magic. He briefly considered asking the male at the desk if he knew anything relating to the items, but decided against it. After browsing the different halls of the building, Hiei came across a door with a bright red `NO ENTRY-EMPLOYEES ONLY' sign on it. As if the sign weren't enough to draw his attention, the magical aura that Hiei had been sensing suddenly became stronger. Smirking, he opened the heavy metal door and stepped inside the room. He gazed upon what looked to him like another typical display room. Other than the strong magical aura emanating from it, he noticed nothing particularly special about these pieces. He wondered why people weren't allowed to see it.
Then he noticed a larger piece of the stone sitting further towards the back. On that stone, he found what he had been looking for. Carved onto one of the tablets was a picture of seven items, each bearing an identical eye in their center. Hiei assumed that this is what the Millennium items looked like. There were also some beasts carved above them, but he would prefer not to think about them right now. Surrounding both the items and the creatures were more hieroglyphs, and Hiei assumed once more that it told the story of the items. He would really have to find someone who could read this blasted dead language and force them to translate for him.
“What are you doing in here?” A groggy voice suddenly called to him. Hiei spun around quickly, searching for the source of the noise. The boy who had previously been asleep at the front desk now stood in front of the wall by the door, staring right at him. How he had managed to get into that position without alerting him was something Hiei was determined to find out.
“You're not allowed in here. I'm going to have to ask you to leave this part of the building;.”
“I'll leave just as soon as I learn everything that I came here to learn about the Millennium Items.” Hiei said coolly, turning around to examine the tablet once again.
“I assure you we have nothing of that sort at this museum, nor have I ever heard anything about them. Now please leave before I'm forced to call the police.” The boys voice sounded very unnerved.
`He's hiding something' Hiei thought to himself. He turned around and studied the boy in full. Perhaps the blonde really was his natural hair color. He had dark tanned skin. Hiei recalled the blazing sun of Egypt. It would be very possible to imagine this boy living there. Bright violet eye stared into Hiei's own black ones. He walked slowly and purposefully towards the boy.
“I think you do know something. Now why don't you be a good boy and tell me?” He had him exactly where he wanted him now, pinned against the wall.
“Malik!” A women's voice called from the front of the building. “Are you sleeping again?” Relief washed over the young boys face.
“Malik is it? We'll have to continue this some other time.” He whispered, tracing a finger across Malik's cheek. Then he made his escape.
Malik sank to the floor, feeling a burning blush spread across his face. To have been caught in such a vulnerable position, before he even had a chance to awaken properly nonetheless, was shocking. And the fact that he had found himself slightly aroused dumbfounded him. Never had he felt this way before. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Thank heavens that Isis had intervened when she had. Who knows what might have happened next.
“Malik!” Hearing her footsteps approaching, Malik assumed she had come to see what was taking him so long to answer her summons. When she saw him sitting on the floor, his blush deepened even further. He cleared his throat.
“Hi Isis, back already?” He asked, keeping his voice even as he brought himself to his feet.
“Of course I'm back! It's not like I had to go to Egypt to get our groceries. Why are you on the floor, blushing like that?” she asked suspiciously.
“Well, you see…” Malik thought quickly, trying to think of a believable lie, “I was making my rounds like normal and I wasn't watching where I was going very well, and I…” Isis stared at him impatiently. “I ran into the door and hit my head. I was feeling slightly dizzy so I sat down.” He flashed her an `I'm innocent' smile. At least this time his lie had been more believable when Isis had caught him in the bathroom with a certain type of magazine. She had demanded to know why he was blushing then too, and he made up some lame excuse about stubbing his toe. And before you think dirty thoughts, it had been a motorcycle magazine. He had been pretending to drive one whilst sitting on the commode when she had barged in without knocking.
“Then why are you blushing so much?” her question brought him screaming back to reality.
“Well because….I had gotten REALLY angry, because I had been so clumsy…and I was….trying to keep my temper under control?” Isis gave him one more look and then shrugged her shoulders, seeming to buy his story.
“Well I'm proud of you. At least we don't have to replace anything broken this time. Now go bring in the groceries while I call Rishido to see how his errands are coming along.” Malik began to grumble about sisters who used their siblings to get out of doing things themselves, but fetched the groceries as he had been told.
Later that night as Malik sat alone in his room, his thoughts turned to that boy again. He was puzzled that the boy had even known about the Millennium items. That was one of the world's biggest kept secrets. He blushed when he recalled the feeling of being pinned against the wall, with the boy looking down at himself. He didn't know why, but every time he thought of him, he got a funny feeling in his stomach. He glanced towards his pillow where the Millennium Rod lay.
`Well he's bound to come back eventually if he ever finds out anything about the items.' Malik was slightly comforted by that thought.
Wait, what?! He felt relieved that someone who had threatened him was going to return? Malik slumped against his headboard and tried to sort out his confused thoughts. Running his hands through his hair, he decided that he would worry about it later. After all, there was no rush. Tucking the Rod into his belt loop, he headed downstairs to see if Isis needed any help preparing dinner, but was surprised to find that she had already finished it.
“I was just about to call you.” She smiled at him. Malik sat at the table, but he barely touched his food. Somehow he just wasn't hungry tonight. He excused himself from the table and went upstairs to sit at his desk. He stared at his Geometry homework, but decided that next to his Yami, it was the epitome of all evil. Though between the two, he was beginning to think that Marik was easier to handle. He finally gave up and just laid on his bed, where he shortly fell asleep.
Hiei stood watching Malik from the rooftop of the building next door. His plan had been to lie in wait until Malik had fallen asleep, and then creep in to search for the Millennium Item that Hiei knew he possessed. He had already checked the room while the boy was down to dinner, but to his dismay, it wasn't there. The boy also some valuable information that he needed, but he would be sure to find a different way to obtain that. Nobody ever could hide something from Hiei when he wanted it. When Hiei saw that he had lain on his bed, he knew that his plan would soon be put into action. When felt certain enough time had passed for the blonde to be asleep, he jumped to the roof of Malik's home. From there, he climbed down to the boy's window. He opened it so silently that it was obvious he practiced this often, he jumped through the window onto the softly plushed room on the other side. He paused for a moment to listen, but heard only rapid breathing. The sister was shuffling somewhere else in the house, along with someone else. His eyes scanned the room for any sign of something that could possibly be the item.
He nearly cursed out loud when he saw a golden item curled in the boys fingers. He leaned against the wall, debating a plan on action. Of course the boy would sleep with something that valuable. An item with power like that-Hiei looked spitefully into the sleeping boys face. He looked so angelic and innocent. Hiei felt his heart soften, which made him scowl all the more. He had never backed down once he had decided to steal something, and not even a damn spirit detective could stop him. He moved towards the bed, and suddenly Malik sat straight up. Hiei stiffened. Now what the hell was he to do?
