~ Chapter Nine: My Choice ~

Seto floated lazily in the water as he watched Marik and Bakura amusedly.

"Do you think they'll kill her?" Yami asked Seto, grinning at the sight. Mai was going to join in, but her parents had called on an errand and she had to oblige, brining Ishizu with her.

Bakura and Marik were `testing' their new game, `The Anzu Bashing Game.' They seemed to have let go however, when Bakura brought the sledge-hammer crashing down on Anzu, and let out a huge whoop, then proceeding to hit her like there was no tomorrow.

Seto shrugged. "Not my business if they kill her. Where's Jou?"

Yami pointed to the deep end of Seto's pool. "Playing with Yugi, Ryou and Malik."

The foursome was playing a diving game, where the first one to reach the bottom, grab the rubber ring, and surface back was the winner. Yugi, because of his height, was losing horribly. Jou, an inch or two taller than Ryou and Malik, almost always won. Except for the few times that Malik `accidentally' bumped into him underwater, and caused him to drop the ring.

Yugi clambered out of the water, and dived into the shallow end where Seto and Yami were. "Seto," Yugi pouted, burying himself into Seto's chest. "Can you play that game for me? Please?"

Yami smirked evilly. "Sure, and you know what? I'll play too." Seto glared at Yami, then raced him to the deep end.

"You shouldn't have done that," Bakura told Yugi, as Marik pounded Anzu. "Those two are very competitive towards each other."

"Not fair, Seto!" Yami called, as the brunette grinned triumphantly.

"It's not my fault I'm taller than you, Yami."

Jou broke the two apart. "All right, youse two, settle down. Hey, Marik, can I have a go at Anzu?"

Marik nodded. "All of you can… for a fee!"

Everyone fell into the water.

One hour later, when everyone had dried off and changed into their everyday clothes, the game began. At two hits for 500 yen (about $4.22), everyone had had a turn, except for a stubborn Ryou.

"Come on, Ryou," Bakura pleaded, "just one hit. Pretty please?"

"He's groveling, Ryou," Yami said, "Bakura doesn't usually do that."

"Shut up, Pharaoh."

Ryou sighed, at picked up the hammer. "Fine. Now let's see, I've got my money here somewhere…" He dug around in his pockets.

Marik pushed him forward. "No charge necessary for the unwilling."

Ryou swung, and hit Anzu. "Hey, this isn't so bad." A dangerous glint was now in his eyes. He swung again, and again, until Marik laughed nervously.

"That's enough, Ryou…"

"See ya later, guys!" Jou called, as he and Yami left Seto's mansion.

"Bye!"

"Do you want to come over to my apartment?" Yami asked Jou. The sandy-haired boy had been unnervingly quiet, at it was making Yami nervous.

"Really?" Jou asked, beaming. "I'd love too, Yami!"

****

Yami unlocked the door to his apartment, and stepped back to allow Jou in first. "I haven't gotten around to cleaning yet…" He flipped the switches on.

Jou gasped as the light flooded the room, and the walls attracted his attention the most. Each room had a different theme of ancient Egypt, not counting Yami's bedroom. The living room had a mural of the desert, a sphinx and two pyramids, all shimmering in the hazy heat.

"Like it?"

Jou nodded, and his astonishment grew more as Yami gave him a tour of his apartment. "It's awesome…" He entered Yami's bedroom, where Yami lay on the bed, watching him. "But I like this room the most…"

"Thanks," Yami answered, "it took me quite a while to get all the colors to match like-"

Jou cut him off, lying on top of him. "You know I don't mean that, Yami. I like being in here with you…" He started to unbutton Yami's leather jacket.

"Katsuya?"

Jou looked up at Yami, smiling. "I want you to show me just how much you love me…"

Yami pulled Jou closer, ripping off bother their jackets and shirts, catching Jou in a kiss. "I'd love to."

"Have fun," Seto said, clapping Marik and Bakura on the back.

Bakura rolled his eyes. "Yeah, same to you, Seto."

Seto looked aghast. "How could you think that, Bakura?! Yugi and I are going to plan for the upcoming party…"

Marik rolled his eyes this time. "After you do that with him?"

"Eventually," Seto grumbled, and stalked off to fetch Anzu.

"You really shouldn't provoke him," Yugi said, chuckling. "Seto can get impossibly mad impossibly easily."

Marik faked a sob. "Our dear friend's lover knows more about him than we do," he sobbed, as Seto approached.

"Oh cheer up," he said, hitting Marik with Anzu's unconscious body. "You can do whatever you want with her, just don't reform her… Or stick her in the middle of a highway, and videotape her getting run over by colossal Kaiba Corp delivery trucks, all right?"

Marik's face fell. "But that's no fun, Seto!"

Seto pushed all four out the door. "Out!"

"By the way," Yugi interrupted, "are you four having a four-person relationship?"

Bakura swatted Marik's hand out of his. "OF COURSE NOT," he said, a little too loudly.

Seto's mouth twitched into a cross between a smile and a smirk. "Right…"

"Bye!"

Yugi giggled as he watched Ryou and Malik being dragged along by their boyfriends. "Nothing's ever simple with them, right?"

Seto brought Yugi into a hug and a forceful kiss. "Nothing."

"What about with you?" Yugi asked, his hand latching around Seto's neck. "Is anything simple to you?"

Carrying Yugi inside and up to his bedroom, Seto replied, "I'll show you one thing that I like making it harder than it looks…"

"Hey, Bakura?" Marik asked, reaching over the bed to shake his friend's shoulder. "You awake?"

"Yeah," Bakura replied, rolling to face Marik while careful not to disturb the sleeping Malik and Ryou.

"I'm sorry we haven't had time to do this to each other," Marik said, his hand running through Ryou's hair. "Do you think the others will guess correctly that we are a four-some?"

Bakura snaked an arm around Marik's waist, kissing the tanned Egyptian roughly. "I don't really care."

Marik ruffled Bakura's spiky, silver hair, returning the kiss. "Me either. Think Ryou and Malik will?"

"No, we won't," Ryou answered, giving Marik and Bakura a kiss. "If Malik does, then…" He frowned.

"It's very sentimental that you're all talking about me," Malik said, grinning at the three in bed with him. "I don't care either."

"Well, that's settled then," Bakura said, worming back into the covers. "Now go back to sleep, everyone."

Ryou hit Bakura with a pillow.

"I'll make you regret that, Ryou…"

"PILLOW FIGHT!"

********

"Hey Katsuya?"

"Yeah, Yami?" Jou turned to face Yami, his face still drowsy. "S'up?"

Yami grinned. "Just wanted to tell you I love you."

"Love you too, Yami." Jou rolled on top of Yami.

"You don't want to go through tonight's activities again, do you Katsuya?" Yami asked incredulously.

Jou hugged him. "Nah. I just wanna be with you… Forever…" He fell asleep on Yami, snoring softly.

"Good night, Katsuya."

"Mmmm…"

Two years later, after graduation, Jou decided to attend a college in America. His English was fluent enough, if not for only a few errors that could easily be fixed. Yugi decided to go with Jou, and was accepted into the same college as his friend. Yugi had also grown a few inches over the years, but still wasn't as tall as everyone else. His English, however, was even more fluent than Jou, with only one or two errors with pronunciation.

Ryou, Malik, Marik and Bakura were all accepted into a college in Egypt, and had left the day before yesterday.

Seto was required to stay in Japan, to take care of his company, and Yami, who had started an expanding company a year ago, had the same requirements.

"I'll see you soon, Yami," Jou promised, "and I'll write too!"

Yami smiled sadly. He wanted to be with Jou so bad, that he had even considered shutting down his thriving company. But common sense drove him back. "I'll write too, Katsuya. And I'll try to visit you whenever possible. And I'll always be here for you. Promise."

Jou sniffed, burying his face in Yami's chest. "You won't forget me?"

"'Course not, Katsuya. Now have fun, make new friends, and get good grades." Yami sighed. "And I still have college to attend too."

Jou laughed. "Well, see ya." He gave Yami one last kiss. "Come on, Yugi," he called to the shorter teen, who was saying his tearful goodbyes to Seto.

As Jou and Yugi boarded the plane, he turned back and mouthed to Yami, `soon.'

Yes, Yami thought to himself as he watched Jou's flight depart, and fade into the distance. Soon…
