Chapter Two: It feels so weird to be writing chapter titles again!

The next day, Mina sat up in bed, and her first thought was: Day off! Yeah!!!

Quickly throwing on her clothes and folding her pajamas at the foot of the bed, she rushed downstairs, clattering as her feet hit the hardwood floor and nearly went out from under her-as a result of the waxing it had undergone two days before.

Laughing, she skid into the dining room, ruffling Mokuba's hair as she slid past his chair, and flopping into her seat. At the head of the table, hidden by a huge newspaper, she supposed was Seto.

"Se---etooo?" She questioned in a sing-song voice, grinning as Mokuba giggled. Seto peered over the top of the morning news and lifted an eyebrow.

"Hrm?" He looked tired.

"What are we gonna do today?"

"….Work?" Seto asked hopefully, cringing inside. He had completely forgotten.

"….What in the world are you going on about now?" She asked, looking deflated. Mokuba's eyes widened faintly, there was a cloud on the horizon.

"Mina-I'm really sorry but…" He sighed harshly. "But I completely forgot about a meeting I had today…" He shook his head. He didn't want to look up and see her confused gaze.

Okay…well…this was unexpected…

Mina leaned back and rested her back against the spine of the chair for a moment, looking at Seto for a long minute, her eyes sad. But instead of getting angry, she just grins, nodding.

"Yeah, sure Seto-kun, that's fine! I was going to write a term paper today anyways, it's okay, don't be sorry!" With an attitude that appeared cheerful, she picked up a fork and stabbed it-maybe a little too violently--into a pancake that was sitting on the breakfast tray, and put it on her plate. Seto ached. He hated it when she tried not to cry like this.

"…" He swallowed back whatever he was going to say, shook his head, and stood. "I better be going…Gotta be on time." He frowned, tousling Mokuba's hair, and then hesitantly brushing his hand along Mina's cheek. She turned her face upwards and gave him a soft, forgiving smile.

It was like someone had slapped him across the face, that aching smile.

"Okay-when will you be home?" Mokuba chimed, aware of the tense air in the room.

"Late," said Seto flatly, eyes darkening. "Don't wait up for me." And with a final smile, he walked out of the dining room and out of the house.

Silence ballooned in the room, Mina pushing bits of pancake around in syrup, drowning them. Mokuba couldn't stand it, this sadness.

"Can we go to the park?" He asked brightly, and thankful for the intervention in her pity-party, Mina grinned and nodded.

"Sure kid! And we can stop for lunch afterwards!"

The two stood and ran off to get ready, leaving their breakfast dishes behind for someone else to pick up.

Relaxation washed over Mina like a breeze. The sunshine was warm on her arms and legs, and she sighed contentedly, trying not to fall asleep. This was wonderful.

So perfect…

Beginning to drowsily doze off, she drifted halfway into unconsciousness, before-

"Hey MINA! Aren't ya gonna come swimming?"

In one surprised motion, Mina snapped into a sitting position, looking around wildly. Her eyes met Mokuba's, who was looking at her impatiently.

"What? Huh, swimming? Uh, no."

"Awww, come ON! It's the beach!"

Mina glanced down at her swimsuit and sighed.

"I'm not much of a water person, Mokuba…Gomen!"

"Ple-ease?"

"Er…"

"Pleee-eeeeeease?"

"Well…only for a minute…I guess…" She hesitantly went over to the water, tested it with a foot, and waded in up to her waist, looking displeased. Mokuba bounded in after her, giggling.

"See? It's not that bad!" A wave washed the water up to Mina's chest, and she squealed surprisedly, looking miserable.

"Okay-I've gone in. Can I get out now?"

Silence.

Mina glanced around quickly, eyes widening then narrowing suddenly.

"Mokuba?"

Silence.

"This isn't funny, you know!! Mokuba? MOKUBA?!"

Silence.
