Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Altered Destinies ❯ Chapter 15 ( Chapter 15 )
This is my first attempt at a Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction so please be kind in your reviews, if you review. I might not have many of the characters in character. On another note I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh and never will. I don't know whom it is that owns Yu-Gi-Oh and besides giving these unknown parties credit for making such a kickass manga/anime, I don't really care. Also, I don't have any money right now so, no one can benefit at all when it comes to suing me.
I came up with this idea when I read a couple of stories that I have read on fanfiction.net. One was recently taken off for some reason but it had been a good story. The other focused on the series if Yugi had been born a girl. I decided to take my shot at this kind of story but using Seto Kaiba. I will only mention this once so pay attention:
/Backslash/ - a conversation between a person and their spirit. i.e.: Yugi to Yami and vice versa.
//Double Backslash// - the person is thinking.
-Altered Destinies, Chapter 15-
Kaiba could only stare on in horror as the image of the dragon she tried to use against Yugi, but destroyed itself rather than the Demon Summon appeared on Yugi's side of the field. "My, My Blue Eyes."
"Wrong Kaiba it is my grandfather's, not yours," Yugi said. "Now Blue Eyes White Dragon, attack with Burst Stream." The Dragon looked at Kaiba with a little bit of sorrow as it charged up its attack. Kaiba wasn't sure, but she thought that the dragon was trying to say something.
~I am truly sorry, but you aren't the master that I once knew. I hope to see that person once again in the future.~ the blast of energy soon engulfed the CEO and took away her remaining life points.
Kaiba awoke from the dream in a cold sweat. Looking at her surroundings, she sees that it morning. "That dream again," Seto whispered. "But why did it cut off at that part instead of going on to that result." Images of her being sent to another world where the monsters in cards were alive and ready to attack her flashed in her mind. "And what did that Blue Eyes mean by "I'm not the master it once knew." It must've meant that I have become a loser like that inu Jounouchi." Seto thought out loud before laughing to herself. "Yeah right. Like cards have any feelings. Besides, it's the Blue Eyes White Dragon's fault that I started losing." The brunette pulled the covers off to reveal her lavender nightie as she stood up. Walking up to the desk where her deck laid and picked up the top card. "I will face Yugi soon enough and unlike the last two times, I now hold the strongest monster, Obelisk No Kyo Shin Hei. Mwhahahahahahahaha."
"Yes, yes," the dark figure said while standing in the dark recesses of Seto's mind. "Hate the Pharaoh, deny your ancient destiny as being his rival. Take over the Pharaoh's role my child." The figure turned to face the recently pieced back together heart of heart. He could see the little child-like figure inside the shiny orb glaring at him. //That's right child. Challenge me all you want, it won't make a difference. As long as your body has that Kami-No-Cardo, my anger and hatred replaces what was destroyed. Once the Pharaoh is defeated, your evil side will be recreated when I merge my spirit with yours, but I will need the other god cards to keep darkness as the dominant personality.//
"Ma'am, the very first battle of Battle City has begun," a female technician said as the computer screen in front of her blipped with the information.
"That was fast enough," Kaiba said with interest. "Seconds have just passed and the battles have begun. Show me the participating duelists of this first duel." The technician nodded her head as she brought up the image on the main screen. One picture was very familiar and the other depicted a man with whitish-gray hair standing straight up. "I should've known Yugi would be the first to duel." A few blip appeared on her monitor that caught Mokuba's attention.
"Duels are now starting to appear all over the city now," the black-hair boy said.
"We have just confirmed that Yugi's opponent has dueled last night," another technician. "And won a Red Eyes Black Dragon which seems to be the prize that he is putting up for the Black Magician and Yugi was the one to make the challenge."
//What, a Red Eyes was won in an illegal duel?// Seto thought at the latest info. "Give the information of where this duelist was registered."
"Yes ma'am," the technician went to work on finding the requested info. "He was included into the Battle City a week ago. This duelist's was non-existent until then."
"What," Mokuba asked. "He hacked his way in. That cheater."
"Leave it be Mokuba," Kaiba said as he watched the data of duel confirm the use of an Angel's Gift card. "I just caught the name this guy goes by. So, they took my bait after all."
"It gets worse Ms. Kaiba," the tech said. "There other duelists here that have hacked there way into our network to include themselves and there are duelists that have been ranked too low to participate that had their ranks go up because they had super rare cards. Most of the latter have been eliminated because that rare card was lost in a series of duels last night. Only one of those remains cause he has another rare card that he can use for an ante. He was the one involved in last night's duel with this guy." A picture of a blond-hair teen appeared on Kaiba's monitor.
//That trash duelist.// Kaiba thought. //What would his other rare card be that would keep him qualified? Oh well, not my concern anyway. It will just take a matter of time before he becomes a victim of being a sheep today.// Kaiba saw Yugi's latest move. "That's a new one. Hand Sealing Sword of Light, that card pins a card in the Rare Hunter's hand and onto the field for other effects to destroy it."
"The Rare Hunter now only has three Exodia pieces in his hand," Mokuba said. "And Yugi just played Chain Destruction on the pinned Exodia part destroy it and two others in the deck."
//Now I know those Ghouls are playing dirty. Those cards are restricted to one of each piece per deck in official tournaments, though I suspect that it is because it becomes a use at your own risk thing to include extra sets of Exodia in one's deck.// "Looks like the Rare Hunter just gave up once his "Invincible Strategy" went down the drain," Kaiba said as Yugi was just declared the winner. She turned to pick up her briefcase. "I'm going down to the tournament now."
"Hey wait for me Neesan," Mokuba called out. "You made me the head ref. for the first round of Battle City." The longhaired boy stopped just before leaving the room and turned around before saying, "let us know when a Kami-no-Cardo has been played."
"Yes sir," with that said, Mokuba left.
An hour past as Kaiba finished off an opponent that had been harassing other duelist with her most recent addition to her deck. She let her opponent boost up his deck after she ripped his fake Diamond Dragon card up and he still had no chance against Obelisk. She just took his two puzzle cards and left. "If my theory about how those Ghouls snuck into this tournament are right, then that should get their attention real quick." She would have no idea of how right she was with that statement. A beeping sound from her trench coat caught her attention. "Kaiba here, did you find another person with a god card?"
"No, but are sensors just another duelist who cheated or tried to cheat in his duels just before you duel Negumo. His registered name is Esper Roba and he won a duel against Ryuzaki, but lost in his next one to Jounouchi. He still has a locator card."
"Then I guess I better find this guy and remove him from the tournament," Kaiba said. //Jounouchi actually won against him! It will still be a matter of time before he is out of this tournament as well.// Kaiba found out that she didn't have to go very far to find her next target. As soon as she left the alleyway for the crowded street saw one green-haired boy with three smaller, yet identical boys. "Mokuba, go check out other duels for cheaters and if any give you any trouble, let me know." Mokuba nodded and ran off on his own, leaving his big sister to walk up to the so-called esper.
"M-, M-, M-, Ms. Kaiba," Esper Roba said noticing the tournament founder heading in his direction. "What br-, br-, brings you here?"
"The technicians at HQ caught your cheating being exposed during your last duel," Kaiba said and three of the four brothers paled at the accusation. "I challenge you to a duel. I win and you're out, you win and you get stay in the tournament. Refusing not only strips you of one puzzle card, but also gets you on the Industrial Illusions black list of caught cheaters to which I should automatically report you in. I consider this a fair deal as you have no rare cards that interest me enough anyways and you get a chance to stay in this tournament."
"Don't accept her challenge Niisan," the two little brothers said. "You'll get creamed. We just know it."
"I have no choice but to accept this duel as refusing keeps me out of future tournaments for life," the older Roba said. "I've dueled to build a reputation so that bullies couldn't pick on you because of my reputation. I've had you guys help me get inside my opponents during certain duels and make it look like I had psychic powers and could read every card in their hand in order to keep my unbeaten streak going and maintaining my reputation as a duelist. I guess it was just a matter of time before someone found out."
//He duels for his brothers' well being. I must admit that was a good plan even if it was cheating. Psyching potential opponents out so that when you duel legit, they'd be out of it and make really stupid mistakes.// The tall brunette thought. "Let's duel at the top of this building." The shrewd businesswoman motioned to the building behind her left shoulder.
In a few minutes, Kaiba and the Roba Brothers stared down each other at the agreed place. Both duelists placed their decks in their holders on the duel disks as they activated. "Alright," the green-haired boy said. "I'll start this duel off. I draw." Roba looked at his card, "Now I play Machine Sergeant in attack mode." A tall soldier-like machine with a sword in a sheath enters the field (4/1600/1800.) "Then I set two cards face down."
"Okay then," Kaiba said as she drew a card. //My opponent had a psychic deck until his recent loss cost him his Psycho Shocker. He probably has very little in trap cards so I should get rid of his magic cards. He has machine cards and Evilnight Dragon after that.// "I set one card face down and I summon Gemini Elf in attack mode and attack." Twin female elves appeared on the field (4/1900/900) and shot a mystical like energy ball out of their hands which combined and overwhelmed the knight (K: 4000 ER: 3600.)
"Active face-down card: Lifeline," Roba's monster returned to the field being pulled out of the ground by a rope. "This card brings back the monster card you just destroyed in battle and increase its attack by 800. So my Machine Sergeant has 2300 attack points now." Roba drew his card, "Now attack her elves." The armored soldier rushed Kaiba's monsters and with two slashes of its sword, dispatched the Gemini Elf (K: 3600 ER: 3600.) "Touché. I activate my next card Demon's Gift and regain the cards I had to discard because of Lifeline."
"Well I'll activate my reverse card, Viral Cannon," Kaiba's face down card flipped up and a mechanical-like device appeared aiming straight for Roba. "Say goodbye to about half of your magic cards as this trap removes up to 10 magic cards from your deck. I knew your deck would be reliant on magic cards even after losing Psycho Shocker since you didn't consider the possibility of losing your key instrument of destruction, I knew you wouldn't include many trap cards to switch into your deck. Now Viral Cannon, fire, your target: Roba's deck." The device fired a beam, which struck her opponent's deck. Roba took out his deck to search for the top 10 magic cards in his deck and sent them to the graveyard. Kaiba noticed beads of sweat that were forming on Esper Roba's forehead. //I must destroyed all of his important cards. Now before I take my turn I have to figure out what strategy I should use. I have Vampire Lord, Needle Worm, Unicorn's Horn, and my Mystical Space Typhoon.// "I'll draw one card." The tall brunette saw what card it was. "I'll play Angel's Gift to draw three cards and discard two." Kaiba sent Vampire Lord and Dol Dora to the grave. "Then I'll play Early Burial to bring back Vampire Lord only to destroy it with Mystical Space Typhoon and I set two cards face down." Kaiba played her Needle Worm card face down and one more card.
"Why destroy your own monster with Mystical Space Typhoon on your Early Burial card?" Roba was surprised when he drew his card. Early Burial removes 800 life points from its controller (K: 2800) and if it goes, so does the monster summoned by it. "I set two cards face down and attack your face down card." The robot attacked the face down monster to reveal a caterpillar-like monster. "Needle Worm, now I have to send the top five cards in my deck to the graveyard."
//Now I have him down 15 cards. 16 if you include that trap card, and 23 cards considering the cards he drew. That leaves him with 17 cards if he is using a 40-card deck.// A vampire suddenly appeared on the field in Kaiba's side (5/2000/1500.)
"Hey you accuse me of cheating when your Vampire Lord is now on the field," Roba said as he noticed the monster that Kaiba destroyed in her previous turn.
"Obviously you have never seen my strongest undead monster in my deck," Kaiba said with pride in her monster. "It can't be destroyed permanently by effects and will return to my side of the field on my next standby phase. I draw and play Jar of Greed to draw two new cards. I set one card face down and play Unicorn's Horn on my Vampire Lord to increase its attack and defense by 700, now attack my Vampire." Kaiba's monster opened its cape and a horde of bats swarmed over the knight and the monster fell (ER: 3100.) "Now get rid of one magic card in your deck and I'll activate the card I had face down from last turn, Gravekeeper's Familiar. Now every time you attack, you lose 1 card from your deck." //And my Cyber Pod will get rid of 5 more cards.//
"I draw," Roba said. //Alright, Breaker the Magical Warrior. This card helps me because I can get rid of Unicorn's Horn or Gravekeeper's Familiar and my two face down cards will help me win this duel.// "I play Breaker the Magical Warrior in attack position." A warrior in robes similar to a Black Magician appeared with a sword (4/1600/1000.) "Summoning this monster automatically give him a power boost of 300 (1900,) but I can at any end that boost and get rid of one magic card and I choose Unicorn's Horn." The horn that appeared on Kaiba's monster vanished (2000/1500.) "Now I activate my two face down cards, Raise Dead and Cry of the Living Dead to summon from my graveyard Evilnight Dragon, and Giga Cyber." A black, serpent-like dragon (7/2350/2400,) and tall monster in Gold Armor (6/2200/1200) took to the field. "Giga Cyber attack Vampire Lord, Breaker attack her face down monster, and Evilnight Dragon attack Kaiba's life points directly." The Vampire fell easily (K: 2600,) but Roba shrieked in horror at the realization of the reveal monster. "Cyber Pod, NO!"
"Yes and now say good bye to all of your monsters," a large vacuum covered the entire field and the fake psychic duelist's three monsters were all pulled into the mouth of a large orb-like monster. The Cyber Pod exploded. "And to think that after this tournament, that card will be banned. Oh well. We now draw five cards and summon any level 4 or less monster on the field. By the way Roba, after you make your summons, discard 2 more cards from your deck because you attacked twice with my Gravekeeper's Familiar still active." The CEO got a good look at her 5 drawn cards. "I summon Dol Dora in sign of attack, Black Scorpion Burglars in defense, and one monster face down."
"I summon Giga-Tech Wolf in attack, Ryu-Kishin Clown in face up defense and switch Black Scorpion Burglars to attack," Roba could only say as he discard which ever went over the hand limit that he didn't need as Kaiba drew her next card.
"I switch my face down Needle Worm into face up attack mode, forcing five cards into the card graveyard from your deck."
"Their goes your one normal summon for this turn."
"I know that," the tall girl said. "Now, I'll have Dol Dora attack Giga Tech Wolf, Black Scorpion Burglars attack Ryu-Kishin Clown, and Needle Worm attacks directly." The two monsters fells and the young boy took some heavy damage (ER: 2250.)
"Activate time stop," Roba said. "This allows me to skip my Draw Phase this turn and I summon Asura." A lady with six arms, each with swords, appeared (4/1700/1200.) "This monster can attack all of your monsters in one turn." True to his word, Asura threw a volley of swords at Needle Worm (K: 1650,) conjured six swords out of thin air, destroyed the burglars (K: 950,) and continued the process with Dol Dora (K: 750.) After that, Asura disappeared and Dol Dora reappeared (4/1000/1000) after Roba set to face down cards and discarded three more cards from his deck.
Kaiba drew her next card and played it. "I play Tempest and destroy all cards in the magic/trap zone including mine, then I attack with my Dol Dora directly." Dol Dora blew out a cyclone of wind and did more damage to Roba (ER: 1250.) "I'll set one card face down."
"Thank you," Kaiba was confused at the Green-haired boys statement. "You trigger my Executioner's Web trap card when you played Tempest. It calls back any one of my trap cards in the graveyard to the field when it is sent to the graveyard by an effect. I'll use my time stop so that I won't have to draw this turn and I summon my Asura once again and I'll equip her with the Dogra's Sword which boost an equipped Angel sub-type by 500 attack points. Now attack and keep me in this tournament." Kaiba smirked. "You wouldn't be smirking now that I have you beat. You shouldn't have taken me so lightly." Kaiba just took a card from her hand and sent it to the graveyard. Her face down card flipped up. "Magic Jammer, but that cancels out and destroys the last magic card I played and weakens my Asura back to 1700 attack points." Kaiba's twin-headed dragon was destroyed (K: 50) and Asura disappeared.
"I draw," Kaiba took her card. "And I summon Saint Magician in defense."
"Why do that?" Roba asked. "That is a monster better off face down."
"I end my turn and the duel."
"I don't think so, I draw." Roba reached for his deck and was shocked to find out that he didn't have any more cards. "I've been decked out. Im- im- im- im- im- impossible. I thought I had more cards left. You never intended to beat me physically did you?"
"Yes," Kaiba said. "Most people don't know this, but my current deck for this year is centered around Deck Destruction and not the Blue Eyes White Dragon despite the fact I have three of them. You did play fair, but your time in this tournament is up. Now hand me your puzzle card." Roba walked up to the winning duelist and hand her his puzzle card and was going to give the Evilnight Dragon to Kaiba, but she stopped him. "Don't bother with the Rare Card Ante. Like I said, you don't have anything that I don't already have. You were honorable enough to accept the duel and not cheat this time."
"I did tell Jounouchi that I would duel legit from now on," Roba said. "I let my fear of what me being defeated would have resulted for my brothers get to me."
//Reminds me of me at Duelist Kingdom.// Kaiba turned and walked away from the battlefield with a smile. "Maybe I'll see you in the future. Bye." (K: 50 ER: 1250 but was decked out.)
-To Be Continued-
This I thought was an interesting chapter. I needed Kaiba to get to four puzzle cards by the end of the first day. Next chapter has Isis win six-puzzle card in an all or nothing duel. Now for this chapter's featured card, we have the insect monster that was responsible for removing a total of 11 of Esper Roba's cards, Needle Worm.
Needle Worm
Effect Monster
Level: 2
Main-Type: Earth
Sub-Type: Insect
Att.: 750
Def.: 600
Effect: Reverse: Remove the top 5 cards in your opponents deck.
Yes I do know that I completely made up two cards in Roba's deck, but I needed a way to get him evenly down to 0 cards in his deck. Time Stop is a normal trap with a spell speed of 2 that functions like Solomon's Lawbook for the draw phase. Executioners Web is a Counter Trap with a spell speed of 3. Effect: Activate when this card is going to destroyed via an effect that destroys Magic/Trap. Take one trap card and place it face down on the field from the cemetary after the effect that would've destroyed this card has been resolved.
