Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Among The Unforseen ❯ Unbelievable ( Chapter 2 )
MOR: CHAPTER 2 *more confetti falls down* YEA!!!! Thanks to anyone who actually bothered to read this! I DO NOT OWN YGO!!! BUT I DO OWN HARUBE!!! (she's my original character so no touchy!) Now back to the fan fiction…
--------------------------------------------------------- ------------
As Isis's chauffer drove the car, Harube stared out the window and noticed that it was drizzling rain. She'd hardly seen rain in Egypt and thought about how much she liked the rain.
As she looked out the window she began wondering why her mother had never mentioned Isis before, she was supposedly a family friend but how was she to know?
Harube decided to asked when she got bored watching the rain and looking at the buildings which she was not entirely used to, "Isis, how come my mother never talked about you if you're a family friend?"
Isis glanced at Harube, "Our families go way back to ancient Egypt."
"Yeah? So?" Harube replied, "So did you know my mother or not?"
"No, our families were friends back in ancient times ,but over the years we lost contact with one another. I've never met your mother ,but we still have our family's ties in friendship." Isis informed her.
"So, you're basically a complete stranger." Harube said leaning back on the car seat. She had been wishing Isis would be able to enlighten her more about her mother since she knew that there were things her mother had kept from her. She had hoped Isis would know them ,but Isis didn't even know her mother.
Harube sighed and put her arm on the arm rest next to her.
"I have one question though." Isis hastily said, "Did your mother happen to give you a family 'heirloom' perhaps?"
Harube wondered why she wanted to know ,but answered anyway, "Yes, a golden armband."
"Oh." Isis said with a contemplating voice, "Did it have an imprint of an eye on it?"
"I think so…" Harube tried to remember what it looked like, she got a mental picture of the golden armband in her mind "Umm…yeah. It does. Why?" Harube folded her arms across her chest now looking hard at Isis.
Isis than pulled something out of her pocket and handed it to Harube. Harube took it and nearly dropped it in surprise. It had the exact same eye on it that the armband had.
"Why does this have the eye too?" She speculated to Isis.
"Listen carefully." Isis began slowly, "Golden items like this from Egypt are called Millenium items and are from 5000 years ago. They each hold some type of power and only certain people can use that power from the Millenium items. There was originally thought to be only seven of these items, since when the pharaoh's tomb was discovered there were only seven items in it. Recently, an archeologist team in Egypt found another tomb close by to the pharaoh's. In that tomb, they found out the pharaoh had a younger sister who also possessed a Millenium item ,but the item was not in the tomb."
Harube tried to soak in the information. Pharaoh's tomb, seven Millenium items, pharaoh's sister, another Millenium item…she didn't understand what Isis was telling her. "Look Isis, I'm lost and I don't understand your point."
"You didn't let me finish, that armband you have with the eye on it, that's the pharaoh's sister's Millenium item. It was supposed to be buried with her ,but instead she gave it to her closest living relative. And you, Harube," she fixed her eyes on Harube's, "Are the only living descendant of that person."
Harube sat back in shock, she couldn't believe what she was hearing, se tried to keep a straight face. "So, err…what does my armband do if it has some incredible power? What does your necklace do?"
Isis grinned, "My necklace shows me the past and the future. Not as clearly as I like though ,but lately it hasn't been working so well. As for your item, I haven't a clue."
Harube really wasn't buying into the fact that these items had any type of power but she didn't speak as the car pulled into the driveway of Isis's house.
As they got out of the car, a boy a little older than Harube came running outside to greet them. He had sand colored hair and his skin was almost as tan as Isis's and his eyes were oddly purple.
"Hello Isis!" he said in a cheery tone, he turned to Harube, "Hi Harube. I'm Marik, Isis's little brother."
He was taller than Harube so she didn't exactly know why he'd refer to himself as 'little', younger would have been better used in the context. Harube was about 5'3 inches tall and he was about a head taller than her, a bit taller than Isis
Keeping in mind her etiquette, she tried to greet him with equal enthusiasm, "Hi, umm…Marik." She stammered a little on his name but not enough to show that she wasn't thrilled about meeting him. Marik than pulled Isis away a couple of steps and started conversing with her in a hushed whisper.
She than took her bags out of the trunk of the car ,but the chauffer took one of her bags, "I'll help you carry it." He was smiling as though he was pleased to help, this freaked Harube out a bit.
"Why don't you show Harube her room?" Isis requested politely.
The chauffer nodded, "Follow me Miss Harube."
She noticed that Isis and Marik were still whispering to each other ,but let them be.
Harube pursued him into the white house and followed him up a flight of stairs and than to the end of a corridor.
"This is your room." He instructed, he opened it and she saw that her bed and her furniture had already been arranged in the room. This cheered her up slightly. The chauffer placed her bag on her bed and left the room smiling, "You can arrange everything around if you like Miss Harube." He closed the door to the room after he exited leaving her in the room holding one of her bags and her backpack looking quite uncomfortable in her new surroundings.
She wasn't planning on moving anything but wished she could paint the walls. They were a dull yellow and she wanted to paint them white. She also wished that there wasn't a rug covering the wooden floor.
She walked over to her bed, dropped her bags on the ground, pushed her other bag off the bed and flopped down on it. At least she could count on her bed being the same soft bed that she loved.
After a few minutes she grabbed her bag off the ground and unzipped the front pocket. She reached in and pulled out the armband. As she examined it, she began thinking about what Isis had said in the car, could it have some sort of power?-no, I'm being silly. She turned it around in her hands than out of curiosity she put it around her upper left arm. It glowed for a few seconds ,but Harube was sure she just imagined it.
I'm letting those silly things in my mother's letter and what Isis said get to me, she confided to herself.
She than tried to take the armband off ,but it wouldn't come off. She yanked at it with all her might but she could not make it come off.
Great, she thought bitterly, now I have a supposedly ancient Egyptian armband stuck on me.
She glared at the ceiling for another few minutes before trying to pull it off again. It still didn't came off.
She got tired of pulling on it and laid back in her bed, somewhat weary from attempting to remove.
Harube closed her eyes slightly thinking about how ludicrous the idea of the armband being magical was when she fell asleep…

MOR: This Chapter wasn't as long as I hoped and was uber short like the first one, probably even shorter than the first. Sorry, third chapter will be up soon.
*charcters like Yugi, Jou, Anzu and such probably won't appear until around chapter 4 or 5.
