Chapter 1: The first meeting
“Get up you little fool!”
The young girl shuddered as the fierce looking taskmaster continued to glare at her. The crack of the whip on the ground caused her to quickly rise on her feet.
“The master wants that pitcher filled by sunrise and his word must be followed! I don't care if it takes you all night! You will have this filled!” Then the taskmaster roughly grabbed her by the hair and twisted it until she cried out in pain.
“Will you fulfill your duty? Will you? demanded the taskmaster in a harsh tone.
“Y-Yes, sir, the girl managed to sputter out.
“Good.”
Then the man threw the girl harshly to the ground and walked, laughing cruelly to himself. The ploy had worked. The servants who were watching the scene, started to scurry off to their business. Then he walked off towards his master's room. A couple of female servants were sitting in there around his master, giggling nervously as he gave them each a lusty look. The master turned away from the scene which a smile on his face.
That fool doesn't know what's coming to him.
Meanwhile the young girl had gotten a new pitcher and was on her way to fetch water. When she had gotten close her destination, she spotted someone on the road. As she got nearer she realized that the person was a girl. She was probably a few years older than her. She had very light skin and white hair. The young slave girl decided to go by as quietly as she could so that the white haired girl won't wake up. She finally read the river and started to head bask home
“Hey, you!”
The girl stopped in her tracks and turned around. The white haired girl had awakened and was now staring at her.
“Give me some of that water.”
“I …can't.”
“Why the hell not?”
“My master might whip me.”
“Who's this master of yours?”
“He is Lord Lateef. He is a mayor of this city.”
The girl said nothing. She looked very angry but then anger quickly faded when she realized that the slave girl was staring at her.
“Let's make a deal. If you give me some of your water, I promise that your master wouldn't hurt you again.”
The slave girl looked thoughtful and decided to agree.
She took a cup that was also nearby and filled it up. Then she gave it to the white haired girl. The white haired girl took it and started to drink. There was something about this slave girl that seems out of place, she thought.
“My name is Takara. What's your name?”
“Monifa.”
“That's a good name. Do you have a family?”
Monifa broke down and cried. Takara was startled by her sudden outbursts.
“What happened?” The older girl's voice was laced with some sympathy.
“Don't worry it's nothing. It's just…well; I don't want to talk about it.”
Takara got up and took her bag and sword.
“It's time you left. I'm sure we'll meet again real soon.”
Takara left, leaving the slave girl by herself.
It did take most of the night to fill those pitchers of water and the slave girl collapsed on her mat. Her body ached but she was a little happy. She was still alive and maybe one day her life would get better.
The next day Monifa woke up to silence. There wasn't a single sound in her room. She got up and looked everywhere. It seemed as thought the place was abandoned. When she finally reached her master's room she saw him in bed. She took a deep breath and started to shake him as she had done everyday, receiving a slap in return. There was no slap. In fact he didn't even move. She uncovered his face, only to encounter a shocking surprise. The master's throat had been split and his eyes had been gauged out. She stood there shaking at the sight before her.
“It's hard to look at, isn't it?”
Monifa spun around only to see Takara leaning against the door. She looked nonchalantly at the dead body in the bed.
“That taskmaster of yours was quite a sly one. He could kill a man in his bed but he was afraid of a girl. Not that I blame him, he mistook me for him. He committed suicide on sight. Some of the servants ran off in fright.
The slave girl just stood there blankly.
“What are you doing just standing here? You're free. Get your stuff and let's get out of here.
“Why are you helping me?”
“Because you don't belong here and I kind of like you.”
The girl ran out of the room and came back after some time with a small dirty sack.
“What's that crap you got there?”
“It's all I posses.”
“Meow”
Takara looked down to see that a black cat was standing right next to the former slave girl. It was glaring at her. For a moment there, that glare was almost human. Shaking her head, Takara took Monifa's hand and they started on their journey together.
Later on…
“Boss, she isn't in here. She must have left not long ago.”
The palace of the late Lateef was overrun with bands of men. These men came here for a purpose. Any servants that they found hiding within the palace had their throats split open. To their disappointment, they did no find what they were looking for. One of the men came to report to the leader of their company to report their findings.
“She was here all right,” the man said, “all the valuables have been taken.”
After hearing the news, the man ordered the men to burn down the house. A smirk came on the leader's face as he watched the flames lick through the building. He knew that he was close to catching his prey.
Takara you can't run from me forever!

That's chapter one. Please review. Lateef means gentle. Kind of ironic huh? The girls' past will be explained as the story progresses also what happened at Lateef's mansion will be explained more as well. I deleted my first Yu-gi-oh! Story because I wanted to start with the past first. After this story is done, then the future will come next. I need a beta to proofread my Yu-gi oh story. Tell me what you think of this story so far. At least one review will do. I'll edit this in the future. Thank you in advance if you do. I'll tell you the meanings of other names later. Until then…

I edited this a bit. As you can tell, I added more. That's because I lost interest in this story for a while. My interest was rekindled yesterday from watching these documentary/ movies on Ancient Egypt this week. I really liked it and started to come up with more ideas. It may take a while to post a new chapter but it will be okay. I have figured out some parts for the story.
