Chapter 2: The Second Meeting
One year had passed since Takara and her new companion had left the city. Two of them had soon formed a bond between the two of them. Takara was still a mystery to Monifa. She was always leaving to go somewhere at night and coming back at dawn. What she did for a living was puzzling but they never went hungry. In between travels, Takara taught Monifa archery in case she needed to defend herself. Now, they had entered in another city and went to an inn to eat. When they had sat down, Takara noticed something out of the corner of her eye and told Monifa to stay inside. Then Takara left.
Outside…
“It's been a while hasn't, Takara?”
“You bet it has.”
“He wants you back.”
“Tell him to go fuck himself and die!”
“I'm sorry my dear, but I can't allow that. My master commanded me to take you by any means necessary. And by that, I mean…”
He turned his head to the side to reveal that Monifa had already been captured.
“What do you say, the girl's life in exchange of your own or both of you die!”
“Some choice I have. It's a shame that I'm not in the mood to die.”
“That was a foolish choice.” He drew out his sword and lunged at Takara. His partner was so engrossed in what the other man was doing that he taken by complete surprise when Monifa bit him. He cried and let her go. She ran as fast as she could. She had to find a way to help Takara. Unfortunately, she did one of those anime trips and fell. The man had caught up with her now. He drew out his sword and raised it over his head, preparing to plunge his weapon into her body. He never got a chance. It so happened that Takara and Monifa were being watched. The person decided to help Monifa out since it looked like Takara was in complete control of her fight. Takara had easily dodged the man's assault and threw a small knife that eventually pieced his heart. He fell to the ground lifeless. Even though the first enemy had been eliminated, Takara ran to find her young friend, hoping that she was still alright.
The man smiled at the young girl shaking with fear and anger at him.
“Now my dear, Die!”
Before he could move a blast of power hit his back and her fell down unconscious. Monifa looked up to see that once again, she had been rescued by another mysterious girl. The girl wore a long black cloak with a hood that concealed her face. It was quite a peculiar way of dress since most of Egypt was a scorching desert.
“Who the fuck are you?!”
The girl turned to see that Takara was standing there with a look of suspicion in her eyes.
“Is that any way you speak to the person who saved your friend?”
“Why not? If she's a crazy bitch that wears black in the middle of the desert I can speak to her anyway I want!”
The girl ignored Takara's rants and studied the girl she had saved. She felt that she knew her. She had long blue hair with matching blue eyes. She bore the clothes of a slave. What caught her attention was what was hidden by the sleeves; they were bracelets. She had seen those before but the time was still unclear. Also what got her attention was the cat. Its collar was familiar to her too.
Monifa was wondering why this girl was just staring at her. She looked at Takara the corner of her eye and saw her draw her sword out.
“Wait, Takara! Please don't hurt her!”
The cloaked girl turned around.
“Takara? So, you are her. I should have known it was you, Takara, or should I say the Silver Demon. Your famed reputation as one of the greatest female thieves in Egypt is quite remarkable. You rob royalty, rich men, sorcerers, and even your own kind!
“You are so terribly clever! You still didn't answer my question. Who are you?” Takara yelled in annoyance. Monifa looked slightly hurt by the piece of information she had just heard.
“You will soon find out. Monifa, is it? Take care; I'm sure our paths will cross sooner than you think.
With that she muttered a spell and disappeared.
The pharaoh's palace was a desired place to be. Many people had dreamed to live in a place such as this. A few outsiders were even allowed to live in or near the palace but there were some exceptions. The cloaked girl happened to be one of them. In a big room that was sealed from outside was where the girl appeared. She hastily cast off her cloak to reveal her long black hair tied into one long braid. She rushed in front of a mirror to do what she did everyday. She put her hair in a bun and put on a plain black braided wig that stopped at her shoulders. She put on make up that made her look paler. Then she donned on the plainest priestess garment she could find. She stepped back to examine her reflection with a smile. Her silver eyes sparkled in delight. She was plainest girl in the palace. She still looked pretty but the plain greatly outweighed the pretty part. She put her black cloak back on and left her room to go to the banquet hall where dinner was about to be served.
“Talibah, you're late!”
She turned to see her friend waiting for her.
“Alkunadin didn't see you during training and he's not happy. The Pharaoh's not mad though. I think he knows about your little ventures outside of the palace. You have to be more careful next time.”
“Whatever. The last thing I ever wanted was to be stuck here learning to be something that I can never become. Why would I want to be a priestess anyways?”
He smiled at her
“We better get going. Seth hates to wait for latecomers.”
“Screw, Seth! He can go to hell!”
There was an awkward silence between them but it was soon broken when a servant came in.
“Lord Alkunadin orders your immediate presence in the banquet hall.”
Let's go Talibah, we wouldn't want to keep the old bat waiting.”
They laughed as they ran towards the banquet hall.
Yea! The mysterious girl is partially revealed. She has her reasons for wearing a black cloth and looking plain all the time but that will be revealed in later chapters. I couldn't think of the friend's name yet. I hope you like this chapter. One review and then I'll update. Thank you guys for reading this. Until next time…
