Father Vs Daughter
Aten and Robbie walked up the steps to the museum. Halfway up the many stairs, Aten had to sit from lack of air.
“They need….an….escalator,” he breathed heavily.
Robbie smiled and rubbed Aten's back. “Take your time.”
Robbie heard a car door open and he saw Kendall opening Seto's door on the limousine. The CEO stepped out of the limousine. Donny opened Joey's door and the blond stepped out.
Joey saw Aten and Robbie on the steps. “Hello, boys!”
Aten waved to Joey as he took deep breaths.
“Hello, Joey!” Robbie called and waved to the blond.
Joey and Seto hooked arms and walked up the steps. Kendall and Donny each began wrestling one painting at a time out of the trunk of the limousine.
“How are you doing, boys?”
Aten took a deep breath. “Doing okay. Trying to get up the steps. By the time I get in there, I'll be too exhausted to stay for very long.”
Joey pat Aten on the shoulders. “Did you get your paintings here already?”
Aten nodded. “The museum came to pick them up for me. They know I can't lift anything heavy. And….this time my parents didn't drive me. Robbie and I walked.”
“You walked?”
Aten lowered his head and bit his lip. “Yes. I'm not speaking to my father…or Father Bakura.”
“Why not?”
Aten looked up at Joey. “Yami told us all about you, Un-tle Puppy. He told us about your problem with alcohol. He also…he showed…..he showed….he showed me what my parents used to be. How my father raped my mother and Malik…and how Father Bakura did the same to my mother.”
Joey swallowed hard. “Yes, it's true, Aten. But your father and Bakura are not the monsters they once were. We gave them a second chance.”
Aten shook his head. “I don't know if I can give them a second chance.”
Seto released Joey's arm and pat his back. “Take Robbie upstairs, Puppy.”
Joey and Robbie slowly climbed the steps to the museum.
“Aten, you said that Yami showed you the truth about Joey's alcohol problem. It's true. Joey used to be a bad alcoholic. He drank morning, noon, and night. He did many things for money when he lived on the streets.”
“Un-tle Puppy used to live on the streets?”
Seto nodded. “Joey slipped a few times on his path to recovery, but now he's doing much better. Joey has stopped and started with his addiction three times already. He's been sober for three years. Aten, I know your father and Bakura did horrible things. Unforgivable things. But if you love someone, you try to help them and love them….even though they may break your heart.”
Aten lowered his head. “What my father did was unforgivable, Un-tle Seto. I'm sorry.”
The Egyptian stood up and walked slowly. `I wonder if father is going to show up to this. He never misses one of my art shows.'
“ATEN!” a voice called to him. He turned and saw Kadin running up to him. “Hi, Aten! I made it!”
“Oh, hello, Kadin.”
The teen panted. “I'm glad I had a chance to come!”
“Hello, Aten!” a familiar voice called to him.
“Hello, Un-tle Yugi!”
Yugi ran up the steps with Glenn close behind. “It's nice to see you! You psyched up?”
Kadin watched Yugi closely as he ran up the stairs.
Aten shrugged. “Well, yeah, considering I live off of the money that I get from painting. If I don't sell paintings, I don't get medication. If I don't get medication, I die.”
“You're terminally ill?” Kadin asked.
Aten nodded. “Yeah, I have a heart defect. I'm lucky to be alive as I am. Robbie takes good care of me. He's always taken good care of me.”
“I see,” Kadin said, his attention focusing on Yugi again.
“Is this your friend, Aten?” Yugi asked.
“His name is Kadin.”
Yugi smiled at the teen. “I'm Yugi Motou. Nice to meet you.”
Kadin gasped. “THE Yugi Motou?”
The duelist blushed. “Yeah…the very same.”
“Wow! One day maybe I'll duel you! I duel…and I'm very good at it!”
Yugi nodded. “I'm looking forward to it. I never turn down a duel!”
Aten looked up the steps and saw Joey and Robbie talking quietly. “I better go in. The Director will want to see me.”
The group followed Aten up the stairs and into the museum. The Director walked over to Aten.
“Mr. Ishtar!” the short, heavy woman exclaimed. “It's so good to see you!”
“Hello, Mrs. Fitzgibbons. How are you?”
“Much better now that you are here! We have all of your artwork set up for you.”
Aten smiled and bowed slightly. “Thank you, Mrs. Fitzgibbons.”
“How are you feeling?”
Aten shrugged. “I've been better, quite frankly. But, I'm here.”
“Where is your family? They are always here.”
Aten shrugged. “I don't know….I hope they don't show up at all.”
“Why not?” Yugi asked.
“I just don't want to see them! Excuse me, Mrs. Fitzgibbons.”
Aten walked away.
Robbie heaved a sigh. “Poor Aten. He's just had a hard time lately, Mrs. Fitzgibbons.”
“Some artists are just eccentric and moody by nature, Mr. Ishtar. Don't worry about it.”
Kadin turned to Yugi. “Can you show me Aten's paintings?”
Yugi nodded. “Sure. This way.”
Kadin followed Yugi towards Aten's section of the exhibit. Glenn saw Otogi by a flower painting and smiled. “Hey, Yugi, I'll be with Otogi over here!”
“Sure thing.”
Yugi stopped in front of Aten's exhibit. “These are Aten's works.”
Kadin looked around. “They're very good.”
“Yes, Aten's paintings are all over. Top museum directors have bought his paintings. They are going to be worth a lot some day.”
Kadin looked over at Yugi. “You think?”
“Oh, I know!”
Kadin's eyes wandered to a nearby portrait that Aten had painted. It was a picture of two figures, one white and one black. The two figures were wrapped around each other in a minimalistic embrace.
Kadin sighed. “That's how my boyfriend and I used to be. But he loves someone else now.”
“Oh, I'm sorry, Kadin,” Yugi said. “That has to be rough.”
The teen nodded and kept his eye on Yugi. He looked up and saw Glenn and Otogi talking. “More than you know, Mr. Motou.”
“Don't worry, Kadin. You're young, you'll find someone.”
The teen looked down at Yugi sadly. “But I only wanted him. I only want to be with him. But he loves someone else.”
“Have you tried to make up with him? Have you tried talking?”
“We tried talking, but he doesn't want to listen.”
Yugi's eye looked at the two different color lovers. “You'll find someone, Kadin. Keep your chin up.”
Yugi walked away and Kadin narrowed his eyes. He found Aten standing by the water cooler and leaning against the wall.
“Aten, are you okay?”
Aten sighed. “Yes….just tired. This week was difficult.”
“You'll be fine.”
“Aten!” a voice called to him.
Aten lifted his head and saw Malik approaching him. “Malik? What are you doing here?”
Malik pulled Ryou behind him. “We came to see you the other day, but you were asleep.”
“We?”
Ryou yawned tiredly. “Your father and I. Marik came here today to see your paintings.”
Aten narrowed his eyes. “I don't want anything to do with him, Malik.”
“I don't blame you, Aten. His behavior was inexcusable!”
Yugi gasped. “Aten, he's your father!”
Aten shook his head. “I don't care, Un-tle Yugi!”
Ryou sighed and groaned. “I have to find something here to do worth my time. This place is dull.”
Ryou walked away towards the snack table.
Yugi sighed. “Isn't there any way to settle your differences between you and Marik?”
Malik leaned down to Yugi. “Bakura and Aria are going to duel after we leave here.”
Aten's anger seemed to melt from his face. “Duel? My sister and Bakura?”
Malik nodded. “Bakura is asking Seto if he could use Seto's arena. If they duel in a public place, Bakura….well, you know Bakura wants to keep Shadow Magic a secret as much as possible.”
Aten looked over at his row of paintings. `Aria is a strong duelist. But, I can't let her face father Bakura alone. I should go in case she needs me for Back-Up.'
“I'm going to watch the duel. I can't have Aria face Father Bakura alone. And maybe…..just maybe….I can show my father what humiliation truly is….when I duel him myself.”
”Aten, he's your father, though. He's worked his fingers raw to make sure that you had a good and decent life!” Malik persuaded.
”Aten, he's your father, though. He's worked his fingers raw to make sure that you had a good and decent life!” Malik persuaded.
Aten nodded. “Yes, father did work hard for me. Yet…..I know that what my father did was inexcusable. Excuse me.”
Malik and Yugi watched Aten walk away to greet his patrons from the Cairo Art Museum. “Nothing I say or do can change his mind, Yugi,” Malik said. “This is very hard on Marik.”
Yugi nodded. “I can imagine. It's not easy on both of their parts. Aten discovered the truth of his father and Marik has realized that he's no longer the idol his son believed him to be.”
Malik and Yugi wandered around the exhibit together, shoulder-to-shoulder with Domino's cultural elite.
Off in the corner, Robbie sipped his soda as he talked with Jaimen. Robbie leaned against the wall as he listened to Jaimen talk excitedly.
“Dad's letting Donny teach me how to fly a plane! Ain't that great?”
“Are you sure you want to do that?”
Jaimen pat Robbie on the arm. “Why not?! I can be dad's personal pilot!”
“What if something goes wrong?”
“Goes wrong?! Robbie, flying is the safest way of traveling. Besides, it's cool! Flying way, way high up gives you a whole new outlook on the city!”
Robbie cringed and leaned on his cane unsteadily. “It would give me a new outlook, to…into the toilet. I'm afraid of heights.”
“You are?! Well, Robbie, when I get really good, I'll take you and Aten up with me!”
Robbie shrugged. “Aten doesn't like being confined in tight quarters. He doesn't like cars or trucks….trucks especially. To be thousands of feet in the air in a confined area would scare the crap out of him. But, you can try to ask him.”
“Oh, well, I know he'll enjoy it!”
Kadin stepped over to them. “This place is really packed. Hey, look! Aten made a sale!”
“Oh, that's good,” Robbie said. “That means a few months of heart medication for him.”
“It's a shame he's sick. He should be home resting.”
Robbie shook his head. “These art shows are Aten's life. He comes to these things even if he's on oxygen therapy. One time he made it here with an oxygen tank strapped to his back. He was really sick last summer.”
Kadin turned to Robbie. “Do you love him?”
Robbie wiggled his fingers, flaunting the wedding band. “I hope so. He married me two years ago.”
“Oh, you're married? Hmm…well, that's nice. Are you happy?”
Robbie raised an eyebrow. `What is he going to ask next? How often Aten and I have sex?'
“Yes, I'm happy. I love him very much.”
Jaimen sighed. “My girlfriend had to work today so I couldn't bring her with me.”
“Maybe next time,” Robbie said.
Kadin saw Aten wander off and he grinned. “I'll see you guys around,” he said as he followed Aten.
Aten stopped and was confronted by his father.
“Aten, please, listen to me.”
“No. I refuse to listen.”
“I'm your father! The least you can do is at least hear me out!”
Aten narrowed his eyes. “I don't want to! I can't! Just go away! Get out of my life!”
Marik stepped up to Aten. “Guess what, Aten Bakari? You are my life….whether you like it or not.”
Aten looked down. “I'm sorry, dad. I'm….I'm not ready to speak to you yet. I'm still very hurt.”
Marik stepped aside. “I'm sorry, Aten.”
Aten turned. “I'm not the one you should be apologizing to, father.”
The blond yami walked away quietly and retreated to the shadows of the corners.
The teen ran up to Aten. “Hey! Did you make a sale?”
Aten nodded. “Yes. This will pay for any emergencies. I also sold another painting today. That's going into my savings for Robbie.”
“For Robbie? Splurge on yourself, man!”
“No,no….I'm saving this for Robbie to pay for my ….final expenses….and for himself. I want to leave enough money for Robbie so he never has to work a day in his life if he doesn't want to.”
“You are so….sweet! Robbie is so lucky to have you.”
Aten smiled and looked at his ring. “I'm lucky to have him.”
“Robbie looks a little bored over there.”
“He's just leaning. He needs that cane to walk.”
“NO! Oh, that is awful! And yet you both remain together through rough times and good. That's so refreshing!”
Aten shrugged. “Robbie and I have known each other since we were three years old. We've never left each other's side. I've done a lot for Robbie to keep him safe….from things that have happened to us.”
Kadin nodded. “And yet…he still fights with you.”
“Fights happen.”
“True, but he should treat you a little better than he does. You were really upset when I saw you the other day. I'm glad I managed to see you at the doctor's office!” Kadin smiled. “What a lucky break for the two of us, huh?”
Aten looked at Robbie who was talking to Yugi and Malik. “Robbie does treat me well. I love him very much. He takes good care of me and looks out after me.”
Kadin leaned into Aten. “You're not like all of these other people, Aten. You're an artist. You see things and people differently than these common rabble.”
“This is my crowd, Kadin. I like the world of art shows and art exhibits.”
”You are so much more, Aten. I know you are. You have so much more potential.”
”You are so much more, Aten. I know you are. You have so much more potential.”
Aten shrugged. “I don't know about that. I just know I enjoy it. And, like I said, I wanted to put money away for Robbie. I want Robbie to be taken care of.”
“Aten, you are such a good husband! I hope I can find someone like you someday.”
Aten blushed. “You will, Kadin. But, I have Robbie…..”
Aten walked away and Kadin narrowed his eyes with a grin. `Not by the time I get done with you, Aten Bakari Ishtar.'
**************************
The crowd stood around the podium waiting the duelists' arrival.
Malik wrung his hands nervously. “I hope they are both okay.”
Ryou shrugged. “They'll be fine.”
Robbie turned to Ryou. “But she's pregnant, isn't she? What if she gets hurt?”
“Aria's dueled pregnant before. She's used to having kids in there. My daughter's a breeding machine.”
Umi blushed. “What can I say? She's beautiful.”
“No, you're just a horny bastard who can't keep his sea creatures in his pants where they belong,” Ryou said flatly.
Kai blinked in Umi's arms. “Wass a bat-tard?”
“It's nothing, Kai,” Robbie answered quickly.
Aten walked beside her towards the arena. Aria connected the duel disk on her arm and walked towards the arena. Her hair was white and spiked. Her canines sharpened and her nails sharpened. The crowd watched her climb the steps to the dueling platform. Her slightly pregnant belly was a tiny bump in front of her.
She saw her father approaching with Marik by his side. The father's hair was also spiky, matching the wildness of his daughter's.
Bakura and Aria's Life Points displayed on the side of the podium. Both began with 4000 points.
Aria growled. “I Place one monster face down defense and one magic/trap card face down. I end my turn…daddy dearest.”
Bakura grinned. “Two can play at that game. I lay one card face down defense mode. End turn.”
Aria picked up a card. “I summon my `A Man With Wdjat' (1600/1600) in attack mode! I can see a set monster on your field next turn. I end my turn.”
Bakura grinned. “I sacrifice my defense monster and I bring out Jinzo!”
Aria gasped as the tall monster appeared on the field. “WHAT?! SINCE WHEN DO YOU HAVE THAT CARD IN YOUR DECK?!”
Bakura grinned. “Joey isn't the only one with a one of these things in his deck. The creature may be hideous, but he's going to kick your ass! JINZO, ATTACK HER `MAN WITH WDJAT!'
Aria's life points dropped to 3200.
“End turn, pumpkin.”
Aria growled. “I don't know how you did that, but that will be the last time you will see my points drop!” She pulled a card. “I set one more monster face down defense. End turn.”
“You don't win a duel by defense alone, girl!” Bakura drew a card. “I place one magic/trap face down and one card face down defense….for now.”
“I thought defense mode didn't win a duel, daddy.”
“Who's the only one who has a face up monster on the field? Jinzo, attack her face down defense card! The first one!”
Jinzo's blast obliterated the card. Aria laughed.
“You've hit my Masked Dragon (1400/1100)! I can special summon a dragon with an attack of 1500 or less from my deck. Then I shuffle it!” Aria summoned a monster in defense and shuffled her deck. “You done, old man?”
“Yes.”
Aria drew a card and laughed. “YOU ARE IN FOR IT, OLD MAN! BEHOLD! THE BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON!”
The large dragon appeared on the field. The crowd looked at Seto.
“I thought you were the only one with a Blue Eyes White Dragon card!”
“More were made by a rival company.”
“This card is my connection to Seth…and the past that we shared!”
The crowd looked at Seto again.
“Will you stop looking at me! I don't know what she means!”
“Blue Eyes! Attack Jinzo!”
Jinzo exploded and Bakura's points dropped to 3400. A growl from the father made the daughter smile.
“That's nothing compared to my Nightmare Dragon when I pull him from my deck! End turn.”
Bakura pulled a card. “I play the trap `Magical Thorn.' When you discard from your hand, you lose 500 points. I also activate `Card Destruction'!”
“REVEAL MAGIC CARD, MYSTICAL SPACE TYPHOON! I don't lose my precious hand!”
Bakura grinned. “I was prepared for that move. I flip over `Magician of Faith' (300/400) and I bring back Card Destruction. I play Card Destruction again!”
Aria growled as she discarded her hand to the Graveyard. “Damn it! How can you put Anzu's card in your deck?!”
“Anzu may be a stupid bitch, but that card rocks! I place another card face down defense and end my turn. But, you lose 2000 life points.”
“WHAT THE HELL?!”
Bakura grinned. “My Magical Thorn was in play. You lose 2000 points since you had four cards in your hand.”
Bakura grinned. “My Magical Thorn was in play. You lose 2000 points since you had four cards in your hand.”
Aria screamed as her Life Points fell to 1200.
Umi cried out to her. “Aria, stop this duel!”
Aria collapsed on one knee and held her stomach. “The baby…..”
“Aria, please! Stop this! I don't want you hurt!”
Aria looked down at her tiny belly. `Is going yami hurting my unborn child?'
“Aria? What's wrong?” Bakura asked as he walked up to her.
“Stand back, Father! We are not done yet!”
Bakura nodded. “I'm done my turn.”
Aria pulled a card from her deck, her legs shaking under her. “I play `Spear Dragon' (1900/0) in attack mode and I attack the `Magician of Faith'.”
Bakura watched as his monster was destroyed. His points fell to 1900. “Not bad, girl.”
“My Spear Dragon goes into defense mode now. I end my turn.”
Bakura drew a card and watched Aria waver on her feet and clutch her stomach. `The strain of going yami must be too much for her body to bear.'
“I place one card face down in defense mode and one magic/trap card face down. End turn.”
Aria laughed. “Oh, I'm terrified.” The girl drew a card. “I place one card in defense mode and place `Spear Dragon' into attack mode again. I attack your second face down card!”
The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams shattered.
Bakura's Life Points dropped to 1800.
The Spear Dragon went into defense mode and Aria ended her turn.
Bakura placed a card face down in defense mode.
“You know, dad, I may as well duel a chair! At least the chair will be more exciting! You're hiding behind those monsters like you hid your lies to me all these years!”
“I activate Raigeki!”
Bakura raised his hand. “I counter with `Mystical Space Typhoon!”
Aria growled. “You snake! Spear Dragon, in attack mode! Attack his face down card!”
Bakura grinned. “I activate `Dark Spirit of the Silent'! I negate your attack and make one of your monsters its target! Your Spear Dragon attacks your Blue Eyes!”
“NO!” Aria gasped.
The Spear Dragon attacked the Blue Eyes. The dragon shattered and Aria's points dropped to 100.
“I'm not finished yet!”
Bakura grinned. “I'm afraid you are, child. Reveal trap! CEMETERY BOMB! You take 100 points of damage for each card in your Graveyard! I've won.”
Aria fell to her knees. “I….I lost? I've never lost!”
Aten and Malik ran up the steps to Aria's side.
“Sister, are you okay?”
“Aria, are you hurt?”
Bakura walked up to her. “You were so quick to attack me in your rage that you weren't thinking with your head. I hope this teaches you the lesson you have yet to learn. Always think with your head in a duel…never your heart.”
Aria narrowed her eyes at her father. “I have not forgiven you. This isn't over, old man.”
Bakura growled. “There's no convincing you, is there? You don't even want to listen. Fine. Challenge me again and I will defeat you like this time.”
Aria watched her father leave. “This isn't over…not by a long shot.”
Bakura walked away and stopped beside Marik. “That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.”

Hayden looked up at the massive building flanked by Eric and Rhonda. His red hair blew in the warm night wind. He scowled at the top floor which had once been his home.
“I'm going to destroy these two if it's the last thing I ever do!” Hayden growled.
“Good luck. It's heavily guarded and I'm sure Kaiba was routes for escape.”
Hayden growled. “I know what they are. I'm going to destroy KaibaCorp and everything it stands for. I won't let those fags get away with what them and their kind have done to me!”
Eric snickered. “What do you expect?”
Hayden grinned. “I have a plan to take them down….but I will need everyone's help to do it.”
“What are your plans?”
Hayden grinned. “The destruction of KaibaCorp….and the Kaiba Family within. We begin to plan tomorrow. In seven days, Seto Kaiba will be dead.”
