The Fallen One

 

“Mother, are you okay?” Aten called from the platform, his eyes wide with worry.

Bakura cradled Ryou's body in his hands and nodded. “Your mother is going to be okay, Aten! You focus on kicking that Royal Son of a Bitch's ass!”

Yami laughed. “Aten has no monsters on the field! His little trap is going to be worthless! I play `Remove Trap'!”

Aten's `Early Death' card shattered.

“I place two Magic/traps face down. I end my turn.”

Aten drew a card and examined his hand closely. `I have no monsters on the field and two traps. Aria has no magics, no traps, and no monsters. Seto has `Blowback Dragon' in attack mode with no magic or traps. Yami has Zaborg and two magic and traps.' Aten looked at his hand. `I have to do something…..'

“I summon `Mystical Beast Cerberus' (1400/1400) in attack mode!”

The snarling three-headed beast appeared on Aten's side of the field and growled. The beast drooled and foamed at the mouth as it snarled at Yami.

“Cerberus! Come here!”

The three-headed dog ran back to Yami Aten. The yami pet his monster's head. “Do you like my loyal servant, pharaoh? Cerberus….the Hound of Hell?”

Yami snickered. “Do you think you are going to scare me with that weak monster?”

Yami Aten grinned. “Patience, pharaoh…I will show you what my beast is made of. I equip him with `Beast Fangs', raising his attack points to 1700!”

The creature jumped in front of Yami Aten and his canines grew.

“That creature only has 1700 attack points! It's still no match for my monster!”

Yami Aten laughed. “Not for long, pharaoh! I play `Megamorph'! My monster's attack points are doubled because my Life Points are lower than yours!”

Yami watched the beast grow in size. It's body grew larger and it's growl became louder.

Yami Aten narrowed his eyes. “Now you are going to pay for hurting my mother! Cerberus! Attack the pharaoh's Zaborg! NOW!”

Yami's Life Points dropped to 3000 as Cerberus swung his claws against him. The dog immediately returned to Aten's side.

“You have no monsters…no magics….no traps…and no chance. I end my turn.”

“You are still a little bastard, Aten!” Yami snarled.

“You are a dead man when Aria and I finish with you. Your threat is nothing but empty words to me.”

Aria drew a card. “I place one card face down and three magic/traps face down. I end my turn.”

Seto drew a card and saw Aria shifting her weight. She had been on her feet for a long time. The girl began rubbing her belly.

`She must be getting sore. I have to finish this…but…if I finish it…Yami will end up killing them. I can't have it!'

“I place one monster face down and I activate `Blowback Dragon's' effect on Aria's monster.” Seto removed the coin from his pocket.

He flipped the coin…Heads…..

He flipped the coin again….Tails.

Seto flipped it again…..Tails.

“I place one magic/trap face down and I end my turn.”

Yami narrowed his eyes. “Why didn't you get two heads?”

“Pharaoh, it's how the coin tosses. I can't control how it tosses.”

“You failed me, High Priest! Next time you had better toss two heads!”

The pharaoh drew a card and smiled smugly. “I play `Mystical Elf' (0/2000) in defense mode. I place three magic/traps face down. End turn.”

Aten drew a card. “I summon `A Man With Wdjat' (1600/1600) in defense mode. During each of my standby phases, I get to look at a set monster on my opponents side of the field! Cerberus, attack Seto's `Blowback Dragon'!”

The mystical beast charged towards Seto's dragon.

Seto's Life Points dropped to 5400 and his Blowback Dragon shattered.

“Let that be a lesson to you, Uncle! You are not going to cross us and get away with it!”

“Aten, I am doing what I have to!”

Yami Aten narrowed his eyes. “You are a traitor! You are not our uncle anymore! You are no better than this butcher beside you.”

“I can't lose Joey!”

“And I refuse to be destroyed by you! I place one magic card face down. End turn.”

Seto stared into the contemptuous eyes of the teenaged boy. “What will it take for you to believe me?”

“I will never believe anything you say again!”

Joey stood beside the podium. “Aten, how can you talk that way to the man who saved your life? He paid for your heart operations! He paid for your mother's heart operation when it needed it! Seto's not a bad guy!”

“He's not a bad guy?! Look at who he's fucking fighting me with! He joined up with this killer!”

“Because he had no choice!”

“Oh he had a choice….he was just too cowardly to make the right one. END TURN!”

Joey shook his head. “Aten, listen to me!”

Aten turned to Aria angrily. “DRAW YOUR FUCKING CARD! I ENDED MY TURN!”

Aria drew her card quickly. “This duel is going to end. You boys are boring me. I flip over my `A Cat of Ill Omen' and I take advantage of its effect. I move one trap card from my graveyard to the top of my deck. I believe you know which one I wish.” Aria flipped through her graveyard and placed the trap on top of her deck. “I sacrifice my kitty to bring out `Dark Ruler Ha Des' (2450/1600) in attack mode! I attack Seto's face down card! Go, my Dark Ruler Ha Des!”

Seto raised his arm. “Reveal Trap! Shift! Attack Aten's Cerberus!”

Aten's eyes widened. “Reveal Quick Play! `Poison of the old man!' I inflict 800 Points of Damage to Seto's Life Points!”

Seto's Life Points fell to 4600.

Aten saw Cerberus attacking the Dark Ruler Ha Des and watched the Dark Ruler bounce off of Cerberus.

Aria watched her life point counter decrease to 5950. “What the hell?”

“My monster is stronger than yours,” Aten explained. “You lost points, but your monster remains on the field.”

Aria blinked. “Oh shit.”

Aria narrowed her eyes. “I end my turn.”

Seto drew a card and placed it face down beside his traps. “I summon `The Agent of Wisdom-Mercury' (0/1700) in defense mode. I also place `Sanctuary of the Sky' into play! I end my turn.”

Yami grinned and pulled a card from his deck. “This is it. I activate `Dark Hole' on Aten!”

Aten felt a gust of wind circle around him. He felt a heavy force tug above him. “SISTER!” he cried out as a dark hole appeared above Aten's head.

“Aten!” Aria cried out.

Aten's creature was sucked up into the hole, along with the card equipped with him. The Dark Hole disappeared and Aten was left with only one magic/trap card.

Yami grinned. “I also flip over `Soul Exchange.' I can sacrifice one of my monsters and one of my opponent's monsters as a Tribute. Since Aria has one monster on the field, I think I'll take hers.”

Aria's Dark Ruler shattered. “HEY, YOU SON OF A BITCH!”

“Don't worry, Aria. That monster will not go to waste. I sacrifice my `Mystical Elf' and your monster and use them to summon my `Dark Magician' (2500/2100) in attack mode!”

Aten's face went pale when he saw the Dark Magician appear on Yami's side of the field. “Dear Ra….not again.”

Yami grinned. “Aten, you have one Magic card there. Aria, you have three Magic/traps there and no monsters. I activate the spell card `Dark Magic Attack'! All of your spells and traps go!”

A violent wind blew through the platform….Aria's spiky hair flew everywhere as the wind blew her magic and traps away.

Aten watched in shock as his only defense disappeared…his only card.

When the wind died down, Aria looked at the field. She and Aten had no monsters and no traps.

Seto had his face down card and Yami had the Dark Magician on the field.

She and Aten swallowed hard.

Aten's eyes widened. “Anubis….protect me.”

Yami laughed. “Aten, I could eliminate you right now. But I wouldn't dream of passing up the opportunity to strike at this little wench! Dark Magician, attack Aria directly!”

The Dark Magician hesitated.

“I told you to attack her!” Yami ordered again.

Aria trembled and her eyes watched in shock as Yami's monster disobeyed his command.

`Why is he hesitating?'

“I order you to attack her, Dark Magician! Do it! Do it now!”

The monster turned back to Yami. “Her child…..”

“SLAUGHTER THAT CHILD FOR ALL I CARE! JUST ATTACK HER! THAT CHILD THREATENS MY EXISTANCE!”

The Dark Magician turned to Aria and raised his scepter slowly.

Aria took a step back. “Uh-oh…..”

The Dark Magician's blast streaked across the platform, hitting Aria in the chest. The girl let out a scream and crumbled to the floor.

Her Life points dropped to 3450.

The pharaoh laughed where he stood.

Umi ran around the podium with Kai. “Aria! Aria, baby! Are you okay?”

“Mommy! Mommy!” Kai cried and started fidgeting in Umi's arms.

“Kai, no, you can't go up and see mommy.”

“Mommy hurt! Mommy dot an owie!”

“Aria!” Aten cried out. He ran over to his sister.

“Mommy!” the two year old cried loudly as his mother was out of his sight.

“What do you think you are doing, Aten?!”

“I'm helping my sister! Aria, open your eyes.”

Aria clutched onto Aten and her eyes widened. “That fucking sucked.”

Yami Aten smiled and laughed evilly. “I knew you were okay.”

Aria's hand went to her stomach. Her baby jumped. “Oh thank Ra…..”

Yami Aten touched the girl's belly. “He seems strong still.”

“We are in the middle of a duel here! Aten, it is your turn.”

“I'm making sure my sister is not injured!”

Yami narrowed his eyes. “She's fine! Get up and duel! I end my turn!”

“Are you okay, sister?”

Aria nodded and stood up. “I'll be fine. I'm not giving up yet.”

Yami Aten stood up and walked to his side of the platform. “Okay, pharaoh…It's time to finish this duel.”

“It's about time, considering you are not much of an opponent.”

Aten drew a card. “You'll be eating those words, pharaoh. I place one card face down and two magic and traps. I end my turn.”

Aria drew a card and grinned. “I place `Solemn Wishes' in play again. I also play `Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness' (1800/1500) in attack mode. I also place three magic/traps face down. End turn.”

Seto drew a card and sighed. “I activate `Change of Heart' and I take control of Aten's monster.”

Aten's card, `Oppressed People', appeared on Seto's side of the field.

“I sacrifice both my face down `Shadow Tamer' and Aten's `Oppressed People' to summon `Blue Eyes White Dragon' (3000/2500) in attack mode.”

The large blue dragon appeared on Seto's side of the field and roared angrily at Aria and Aten.

Aten looked up at the large dragon and down at his card.

Yami laughed. “We have two of the strongest monsters in our decks on the field. You both have little if no defenses.”

“I activate `Burst Stream of Destruction.' It destroys all of your monsters!”

Aria's Sea Serpent shattered, leaving her with no monsters once again. “Dammit,” she cursed under her breath.

“I can't attack with Blue Eyes this turn. End turn.”

Yami drew a card and grinned. “Both of you are once again unprotected. I thought the two of you were decent duelists and were going to be somewhat of a challenge. Both of you have disappointed me greatly. I thought I had REAL duelists in front of me…not a couple of frauds.”

“I'd rather be a fraud than a murderer,” Aria said.

“I'd rather be a fraud than a rapist!” Aten seethed.

Yami yawned. “Your reaction bores me, Aten. It bores me to tears….”

“You took my childhood away!”

“I didn't….your grandfather did.”

Aten clenched his fist tightly. “I had regained some of my confidence and had healed some of the scars! Then you were the one who held Robbie, Hayden, and I prisoner in that Ra-forsaken house! Don't tell me that your hands are clean! My blood and Hayden's blood has stained your hands for eternity!”

Yami grinned. “Do you think that it bothers me?”

Aten narrowed his eyes. “When we defeat you, we will make you pay!”

Yami drew a card. “Seeing as you have no monsters on the field, Aten, I think that you don't have a prayer or a leg to stand on…much like your husband standing beside this platform.”

“I summon `Pharaonic Protector' (900/0) in attack mode and I equip him with the Axe of Despair, bringing him up to 1900 attack points.”

Aten and Aria took a deep breath.

“Pharaonic Protector, attack Aten directly!”

Robbie screamed as he saw the soldier's weapon stab Aten through the stomach. “OH MY GOD! ATEN!”

Aten looked into the vacant eyes of the monster and felt his whole body tremble. It was a holographic monster and weapon, but it felt real. He felt as if he had been impaled by the cold metal of the creature's sword.

Ryou struggled to his feet as he saw the creature stab his son. “ATEN BABY!”

Yami laughed as Aten's life points plummeted to 500.

“You are almost dead, Aten!”

Aria watched with horror as Aten fell to his knees and coughed. She ran over to him and kneeled beside his shaking, panting body.

“Aten?”

Aria leaned over and went to place a hand on his forehead. When she removed her hand, it was covered in blood. “Aten?!”

The girl leaned over and saw Aten coughing up blood and panting. The teen could hardly bring a puff of air into his lungs.

“Aten, please….you have to leave….you're hurt.”

Aten turned his head to see her. “I….can't….You're my….*cough*….sister…I will not let…*pant* …Yami..win.”

“Aria, get back to your space! We are still dueling!”

Aria walked back to her space and glared at Seto and Yami.

Yami grinned. “Dark Magician! Attack Aria directly!”

The Dark Magician raised his scepter slowly once more.

Aria closed her eyes as she waited for the blast.

Aten lifted up his head. “I can't…..”

The Dark Magician's hand trembled as he held the scepter.

Aten looked at Aria. Her eyes were closed and her body was tense. That baby inside of her would not take another major blast as she had before….That baby had to remain safe.

He turned and looked at Umi and Kai. The little two year old trembled in Umi's arms. His cries rose above the Blue Eyes' roar. Umi looked terrified.

He was risking the loss of his wife and their unborn child.

A lot of people were depending on Aria's success.

That baby was depending on Aria for Life.

The Dark Magician's attack threatened to end that Life and to hurt her…possibly beyond her ability to continue dueling.

Aten closed his eyes. “Dear Ra….protect me.”

Yami laughed. “Prayer will not stop this attack, Aten! GO! ATTACK HER NOW!”

Aten turned and looked at his father and Robbie. “Please forgive me.”

Aten remained on his knees, but straightened his back. “Reveal card…..Shift.”

Seto's eyes widened. “Aten had that card all along! If he gets attacked….! ATEN, DON'T DO IT!”

The Dark Magician turned towards Aten and fired spheres of dark energy at Aten.

Aria screamed as she saw the Dark Magician's blast impact against Aten's chest and stomach, knocking him into the air and off of the dueling platform.

Robbie watched in horror as Aten's body became airborne and landed on the grass, the back of his head impacting on the grass with a loud snap.

“Aten! Oh Aten!” Robbie ran to his husband and quickly took his pulse.

Marik ran to Aten. “SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! BOY!”

Marik kneeled on Aten's opposite side and felt himself shake. He took Aten's pulse.

It was weak….very weak.

Robbie bit his lip and started sobbing. “Aten!” The teen leaned over and covered Aten's upper body with his own. “Aten…don't leave me…..”

Ryou ran over to Aten and rubbed Aten's hair. “Baby boy? Is he alive?”

Robbie clutched onto Aten's chest. “Don't die on me, Aten!”

Bakura ran beside the group. “If Aten is alive, he needs to breathe…let's try not to put pressure on his chest.”

“I heard a snap when he landed,” Robbie stated.

Ryou caressed Aten's hair, his hands trembling with helplessness. “Marik, what can we do?”

Marik bit his lip nervously. “We can't move him if there's a risk that something vital may be broken.”

Ryou looked up. “It's a long drop from up there. Aten….Aten, baby, stay with us…..”

Yami laughed. “One down. One to go.”

Aria watched her brother's unconscious body on the ground. `He always said I needed him….I always told him that I didn't need his help…..Aten saved my life….'

Malik stood behind Marik with his hands on his shoulders.

Marik ran his hand against the back of Aten's head and pulled back…his hand was covered in blood. “Aten!!! Joey, call the ambulance! Aten can die!”

Yami held up a hand. “And let all those mortals see us? Summoning monsters without the aid of hologram projectors? Our Magic is to be kept secret. After all, isn't that what you have always taught your children, Ishtar?”

“Aten's going to die if we don't get him help!”

“Aten's going to die even if we do….He is guilty of treason. His punishment is death.”

Aria ran to Aten's side of the platform and looked down. “Brother? Mom, how is he? Is he still alive?”

Ryou sobbed loudly, tuning out everyone around him and focusing only on his injured son.

“Aria, he'll be okay!” Bakura called to her. “You just kick his fucking ass!”

Marik narrowed his eyes at Bakura angrily. “We have to get him to a doctor!”

“We can't call an ambulance here! If the mortals see us and our magic, then we will be in great danger! Do you know what will happen?”

Marik grabbed Bakura's collar. “My son needs fucking help! Are you saying I should just let my kid die here?”

Bakura pushed Marik's hand away. “Don't grab me like that!”

“I'm not letting my son die!”

“If you move him, you could snap him in half!” Robbie protested as Marik tried to pick Aten's upper body off of the ground.

Marik growled at Robbie. “Do you want him to just lay here, Robert?!”

Robbie grabbed Marik's arm and tried to pry the father's grip off of the fallen son. “If you move him, you could hurt him more!”

Malik grabbed Marik's arm and tried to pull him back. “Marik, don't hurt Aten!”

“Joey, call the ambulance now!” Marik barked.

“No! Don't, Joey! Jibade, that could put us all in danger!” Bakura retorted angrily.

“You know damn well that if it was Aria laying here, you'd have the ambulance on their fucking way!”

Bakura jumped to his feet, snarling. “I'm trying to think about what would keep everyone safe!”

“You don't give a damn about my boy, do you?” Marik snarled.

“Of course I give a fucking damn, but right now, if the world finds out about Shadow Magic and our powers, then we are as good as fucked.”

 

Aria drew a card. “It is my turn….and my life points raise to 3950 thanks to Solemn Wishes. I play `Card Destruction'!”

Seto looked worried; Yami appeared pissed beyond belief.

“Sorry, pharaoh, but I figured that I would have us all start off with a clean slate now that my brother is no longer here with us. I also activate `Really Eternal Rest.' I got this from Aten last year for my birthday and I'm glad to use his card to kick your ass, pharaoh. Your `Pharonic Guardian' goes!”

Yami watched his monster shatter. “You will join your Brother soon!”

Aria grinned. “I lay one card face down and place three more magic/traps face down and I end my turn.”

Seto drew a card from his deck. “I lay 2 magic/traps face down and I….end my turn.”

Yami turned to Seto angrily. “You what?!”

“I chose my battles,” Seto said, narrowing his eyes.

Yami drew a card. “I place `Celtic Guardian' (1400/1200) in defense mode. Dark Magician! Attack Aria's face down card!”

Aria laughed. “Waboku! Your battle phase ends and it is my turn now!”

“You are laughing now…but when I slit your throat, you won't be laughing!”

“You're not stepping a foot towards my wife!” Umi threatened from below.

“I will do what I wish, you petty boy!” Yami responded.

Aria drew a card and smiled. “I flip over `Dragon Manipulator'! I take control of one dragon monster on the field! Blue Eyes White Dragon, come to me!”

Seto watched wide eyed as his dragon flew to Aria's side and roared angrily.

Aria laughed. “Let's see….what shall I do with him? Shall I attack you, Pharaoh? That will leave you with a measley 400 points after I attack your `Celtic Guardian'? Shall I avenge my brother?” She turned her head to Seto and growled at him with contempt. “Or should I attack you directly? Bringing you down to a mere 1600 Life Points? You don't have magic and traps on the field, so how can you defend yourself?”

Yami grinned. “I know you want to attack me, Girl. You want to pay me back for critically injuring your brother and wounding him to the point of his possible demise. But don't worry, child, you will join him when all this is said and done.”

“I will not lose, pharaoh! Blue Eyes White Dragon, attack the Pharaoh's `Celtic Guardian'!”

The dragon opened its mouth and shot a ball of blue energy at the doomed elf.

Yami grinned. “You think you are the only one with a Waboku in their deck? Activate Waboku!”

Aria smirked. “Activate `Remove Trap'!”

Yami shielded his eyes as his Waboku card shattered and his Celtic Guardian was shattered by the Blue Eyes attack.

Yami's life points plummeted to 400.

“I told you, pharaoh! Don't….fuck with me!”

“Such language does not surprise me. The daughter of a thief….the daughter of a whore…..”

Ryou cried harder where he kneeled beside his fallen boy.

Bakura stood up quickly. “Don't call Ryou that! He's not a whore!”

Yami grinned. “He's your whore. He's Marik's whore. He's Malik's whore. He's Seto's whore. He's his father's whore. He's my whore….and he is carrying my child. Ryou gets around.

“It's not true, Yami!” Bakura barked.

“I would like to think otherwise.”

“YOU LEAVE MY FATHER OUT OF THIS!” Ryou stood up and screamed angrily.

Ryou's sobs became louder. Bakura grabbed him by the arms.

“Love…calm down.”

“MY FATHER WAS NOTHING BUT A MONSTER! I never slept with Seto either!”

Bakura pulled Ryou against him. He pet his crying husband's hair and felt him tremble. “Shhh…it's okay, baby….”

Bakura kissed Ryou's ear and Ryou whimpered.

Yami grinned. “I believe you are lying. Is he lying, High Priest?”

“I never slept with Ryou!” Seto protested.

“Whatever, High Priest. It is your turn.”

Ryou gripped onto Bakura and looked down at Aten. “My poor angel….”

Seto drew a card. “I play `Monster Reborn' and I bring back my `Tyrant Dragon' (2900/2500) in attack mode from the Graveyard! I must offer one Dragon on my side of the field as a tribute!”

The Blue Eyes shattered and the large dragon emerged on the field.

“He can attack twice in the same battle phase if you have a monster on the field, which you do.”

Seto took a deep breath and shook his head. “Damn, this is hard….”

“Do it, High Priest!”

Seto raised his hand. “Tyrant Dragon, attack Aria's `Dragon Manipulator'!”

Aria growled as her monster shattered.

“Tyrant Dragon, attack Aria directly,” Seto said quietly.

Aria screamed as the Dragon's flame surrounded her.

“MOMMY!” Kai screamed.

“ARIA!” Umi cried out.

Umi put Kai on the ground. “Stay here, sport!”

Umi ran towards the stairs, but the forcefield knocked him back. Umi landed on his back and growled. “Fucking shield…”

Aria's Life Points dropped to 1050.

Aria fell to her knees and trembled. “Shit, that hurt.”

Yami grinned. “You have no monsters on the field, Aria. Where is your Nightmare Dragon? He hasn't come to rescue you yet.”

Aria narrowed her eyes. “This is your last turn, Yami.”

“I end my turn,” Seto said as he worriedly watched Aria struggle to her feet. “Aria, I'm sorry….”

Aria narrowed her eyes at Yami. “He's a dead man next turn anyway.”

Yami drew a card and summoned `Pharaoh's Servant' (900/0) in attack mode.

Aria laughed. “I flip over `Trap Hole'! Your monster is destroyed!”

Yami growled as his monster was sucked into the floor. “That's it! Aria, prepare to meet your maker! Dark Magician! Attack Aria!”

Aria looked at her last card on the field. “Reveal `Block Attack'! I'm safe!”

Yami narrowed his eyes. “You little bitch!”

Aria grinned. “And now, boys….for the final move….” Aria drew a card. “My Life Points raise to 1550. I play `Monster Reborn'. I bring back an old friend. NIGHTMARE DRAGON!”

The morning sky went black. Dark clouds hovered over the park. A strong wind and lightening started. The loud roar of a dragon was heard. Yami and Seto watched as the Nightmare Dragon landed beside Aria.

The Dragon unfurled it's spiky wings and roared angrily.

Aria grinned. “My dragon has is 6000 points strong to blow you both away. But since I can only attack once….NIGHTMARE DRAGON! ATTACK YAMI WITH DARK FURY OF NIGHTMARE!”

“NOOOOOOOO!!!!!” Yami screamed as his Life Points dropped to 0.

Yami was blasted off of the platform and onto the ground below.

Yugi and Glenn ran up to Yami and kicked him. “You are a selfish, cruel bastard!” Yugi screamed. “I'm ashamed to be your Light! You are nothing but a selfish, cold-hearted bastard! You deserve to rot here for everything you have done to my friends and family! I wish that I had never known you….or even loved you. Goodbye!”

“Y-Yu—Yugi….”

Aria narrowed her eyes at Seto. “You and I are the only ones standing, Seto.”

Seto looked at Aria and removed his duel disk.

“What are you doing?”

“I'm surrendering, Aria. I don't want to harm you.”

Aria laughed. “You could not harm me with a monster with only 2900 attack points.”

“I never wanted to harm you, Aria.”

Seto's dragon disappeared.

Aria looked up at her dragon. “You may go.”

The dragon flew away and the clouds disappeared.

Aria removed her duel disk. “Seto…..I…….”

“Aria, please forgive me. I didn't want to harm you.”

Aria lowered her head. “You've done enough.”

Aria ran down the platform steps towards Aten.

“Brother? Brother? Please say something!”

Marik shook his head. “My boy….Aten won't wake up!”
