Title: August and Everything After

Author: Jinhito

Summary: An AU fic with Yami/Yugi and other yaoi pairings. Yugi and his friends are part of the Domino High School marching Band. Throughout the season, Yugi starts to notice a certain captivating drummer in the percussion section.

Jinhito: Hey again people! ^_^ It's so nice to have free time once again. And if you are all wondering what I mean... Yes... I'll admit it. I was in marching band. But I'm not one of those psycho people who's life is nothing but band. So, there. =P Bleh... it's not anything like how they portray it in American Pie. Trust me... flutes are not perverted... just very girly. And no! I don't play a flute. I play an Alto Saxophone.

//.¬;; Trowa: Don't let her fool you... the saxophone section is so much more corrupt than the flutes and clarinets combined.

Jinhito: *nods* Yep... but anyway, this idea struck me while on the way back from our last competition at the RCA Dome. I was really tired then, so sorry if this seems a bit weird for a topic. But hey, I figure it's kinda original right?

//.- : Yeah, how many other people write about marching bands?

Jinhito: Hey! This'll actually have a pretty good plot! I already wrote it out so I know what it is, but you'll just have to read find out! ^.^ Well, onward to the fic! After Tro-chan says the disclaimer! *points to him*

//.o : Okies. Jinhito doesn't own anything that has to deal with Yu-Gi-Oh though I'm quite sure she probably wishes she does -

Jinhito: Damn straight I do! *whines* Accursed poverty! *rants some more*

//.o : Yeah, okay, but anyway, her quote is that sharing is only fun when it's not your stuff so obviously she owns nothing except her idea of the fic and maybe an original character she adds in here or there. Hell, she doesn't even own me! But that's beside the point! So onward to the fic.

Jinhito: n.n Yes! And remember, reviews make me work faster! So please do read ahead! Oh, and uh, same warning about yaoi. Blah blah yadda yadda, you know the drill right?

Chapter 1

It's Marching Season

"So Yugi, what are you gonna be doing this year for marching band?" Anzu asked as she packed up her book bag. It was the last of school and marching band season was just about to start once again.

"I'll probably do alto sax again this year. Our sax line was awesome last year!" Yugi beamed as he overloaded his little backpack and slammed his locker shut for the last time until school restarted in August. Anzu nodded and closed her won. "What're you gonna do this do this year?" Yugi asked as he hefted up his heavy backpack. Anzu paused a moment in thought. She nibbled on her bottom lip as she compared her current choices.

"I was thinking on either doing clarinet line again or maybe join Jou in colorguard." She simply shrugged and laughed. "Why do I need to chose right now Yugi? I still have one more week to decide right?" she turned and saw him nod. They then walked down the hallway with similar smiles on their faces.

"So what do you think Honda'll do Anzu?" Yugi laughed out as they both headed down the stairs to leave the school. Laughter echoed off the walls as the two imagined their friend in a colorguard uniform spinning a flag. Soon those same halls that they'd just left behind were silent once more.

* * * Meanwhile * * *

Elsewhere, people were talking. "Alright then ma'am, your son is now enrolled at Domino High School. He'll start with everyone else on August twenty-eighth when school begins again next year." the assistant principle stood and handed the stout looking woman before him some papers. She stood and nodded.

"Will he allowed to do any school related activities over this year's summer?" she asked before she gathered up her things. The young man before her gave her a curious look.

"What do you mean?" he asked with an arched eyebrow. The woman before him shook her head slowly from side to side. As she did so some of the hair she'd pulled back into a bun on the back of her head fell out. She gave him an un-amused look and placed her hands on her hips.

"Can he join the marching band?" she stated rather bluntly.

* * * Back to Yugi * * *

"Hey Grandpa! I'm home!" Yugi announced through cupped little hands as he walked into the gameshop. He walked over to the closet behind the counter and set his bookbag on the wall nearest it. Yugi bent down to untie his sneakers and after he'd removed them fully, he leaned over and opened the closet door. He glanced down at his worn out beat up gym shoes one last time before he tossed them inside; deciding to trade them in for a nice pair flip-flops. Once the closet door was shut, he reached down once more to grab his bookbag. Yugi then walked over to the stairs and proceeded up to his bedroom.

'I can't believe school's already over. Everything went by so fast...' he reveled in the thought for a moment before he entered his room. He walked over to his dresser and tossed his backpack near it. At the sound of his stomach growling Yugi decided to go downstairs and check the fridge for something to eat or drink. Standing and thinking had just reminded him he hadn't had a big lunch today due all the excitement of school ending.

After walking downstairs he headed towards the kitchen. Upon nearing the small living area's door, he heard the most peculiar sound... like someone snoring... He pushed against the swinging door only to be greeted with the sight of his grandfather snoozing underneath his paper. Yugi sweatdropped but decided to tap him and wake him up.

'No wonder he didn't answer me when I told him I was home. Heehee grandpa sure is funny when he sleeps.' Yugi padded over and tapped his grandfather lightly on the shoulder. He jumped back quickly after a loud snort from his grandfather startled him. Yuig couldn't help but giggle as his grandpa tried to regain some composure before his grandson. Yugi shook his head and continued to giggle as he returned to his earlier task of raiding the fridge.

"Oh oh Yugi! Y-your home!" his grandfather coughed as he stood to readjust his sleep worn clothes. Yugi continued to laugh, even when he reached into the fridge to pull out some juice and a cup from the cupboard.

"So what's going on in the world today Grandpa?" Yugi cheekily smiled as he poured himself some juice. Little snickers escaping his lips every now and then. He had to turn away from his grandfather to stifle the laughter unless he wanted to be wearing his drink. Yugi's grandfather flushed in embarrassment.

"Uh... uhm... those microsoft stocks sure are going up!" his grandpa sheepishly explained. Yugi shook his head and walked over to the neglected paper now face up on the kitchen table. Upon looking down he burst out into laughter once more. "What's so funny Yugi?" his grandfather asked as he leaned over his grandson's shoulder to see.

"Oh yeah grandpa!" Yugi managed in between laughs, "You really know what stocks are going up when you're asleep under the comics section of the newspaper! Hahahahahaha!" Yugi help up the traitorous paper in his free hand for his grandfather to see. Soloman Mouto lowered his head so his grandson would not see his flushed face. He then mumbled something about the store needing attending and walked off to the shop's main entrance. Yugi just continued to laugh to shake his head and laugh. His golden spiked bands falling into his eyes as his small form shook with laughter, but he didn't mind. Life was good and that was that mattered as he sipped from his glass, trying to avoid getting any up in his nose while he continued giggling alone in the kitchen.

Jinhito: And that's all for now! *jumps up and cheers* I actually posted something again! Woo go me! *does her version of the happy dance*

//.o : Yes. Woo. Go you.

Jinhito: ¬.¬;; Wow you sound enthusiastic... Well what do you guys think? I thought it was great! But that could just be because I'm the author of this fic.

//.n : My favorite part was with his grandfather and the paper!

Jinhito: lol *falls on the floor laughing* Believe it or not, my grandpa did that once. That's where I got the idea from. lol He said the exact same thing too! So now you guys know I'm using my own real experiences and putting them in here.

//.n : And the outcome is actually pleasant!

Jinhito: And yes... I'm making Yugi play an Alto Saxophone like me... And no the instrument isn't bigger than him. It's actually only half his height. He should be thankful I'm not making him play Tenor!

Yugi: *pops out of nowhere* You wouldn't seriously do that would you!? I'd be completely weighted down! *turns into a chibi with waterfalls of tears* Why are all the author's out to get me!?

Jinhito: *hugs Yugi* Aw... I wouldn't do that... you're too kawaii for me to! But anyway, please review and let me know what you guys think! Good? Bad? A complete failure? I need to know!!!!!

//.o : Reviews make us work faster... *wink wink nudge nudge 'nuff said 'nuff said*

Jinhito: And to all those anti-band people out there... I don't want any flames about how much you hate marching bands and what not. So if you gotta problem with it, you can suck my Alto. *blows all the mean anti-band people a raspberry*

Yugi: *stops crying* Whoa... was that supposed to sound suggestive? *turns to Jinhito and Tro-chan*

>.\\ : ... no No NO! Your saxophone ways are already starting to corrupt him! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! *rants about corrupt sections*

Yugi: *shurgs confused*

Jinhito: *cackles evilly*
