Dragonseye - Thanks for your review too. I still dun know where to place Anzu yet. To be honest I dun really hate her... unless she's hitting on Yami or Yugi... she ruins the greater good of yaoi... Well, I'll leave it up to votes. What should Anzu be? Anyone wanna help me decide?

Jinhito: Oh man... so sorry that took forever... Well, hopefully you're still there. Trowa! Disclaimer!
//.o : Jinhito doesn't own anything that has to deal with Yu-Gi-Oh though I'm quite sure she probably wishes she does -
Jinhito: Damn straight I do! *whines* Accursed poverty! *starts to rant*
//.o : Yeah, okay, but anyway, her quote is that sharing is only fun when it's not your stuff so obviously she owns nothing except her idea of the fic and maybe an original character she adds in here or there. Hell, she doesn't even own me! But that's beside the point! So onward to the fic.
Jinhito: Well, enjoy! And uh... yeah... it's a yaoi fic. No flames you homo-phobes!
Chapter 2
Savior
"Heya Yugi! First practice again huh?" Roxy nudged him in the ribs as they sat and waited for their director to address them and start the first meeting of the season. Yugi simply nodded as his eyes scanned the band room. 'Wow there's a lot of people here this year...' he thought to himself as he continued to take in the sight before him. Roxy yawned and turned to stare at Yugi.
"Hey Yugi?" she blinked stupidly when she received no answer. "Hello Yugi?" she whistled as waved her hand in front of his eyes. 'Wow, he's mesmerized...' "Hey Yugi!?" she snapped her fingers in front of his glazed over eyes.
"AHHH!!!" he squealed as his train of thought was derailed. Roxy couldn't help but laugh at him.
"Where were you Yugi? Hahahaha you just kinda spaced out there." she stated as she leaned back in her chair. Yugi flushed and looked down at his palms.
"Sorry about that." he nervously giggled. His gaze was still locked on his hands. 'I never knew I had those lines there before...' he mused silently. Roxy was just about to question him as to what was so fascinating when a new girl came and sat down next to them.
"Hey Roxy." she said timidly.
"Oh hey Folio!" Roxy shouted as she leaned over to hug her friend. [1] Folio laughed and hugged Roxy back. "Hey." Yugi turned and offered her a quick smile before turning his attentions back to the doorway. The meeting was about to start.
"Ready for this year Folio?" Roxy asked excitement clear in her voice. Folio nodded and opened her mouth to speak when their band director entered the room and asked for their attention.
"People! People! QUIET!!!" he shouted over the mass of eager students. Silence washed over the large group. The meeting went underway and lasted a half an hour as the year was explained. They were then all told to get together with their sections to socialize and get to know one another better."Clarinets! Over there! Low Brass! I want you all by that wall! Saxes! Right here!" the director shouted placements to the remaining sections and watched as they all got together and stood in circles as instructed. "Okay!" the director shouted again in triumph, "I want you all to meet with your sections and just... get to know one another better. After all, you'll be spending this whole season with them." the director then left to busy himself in his office leaving the students to talk amongst themselves.
"Hey everyone!" Roxy was the first to break the silence. "My name's Roxy! And I'm a sophomore!" she then turned and looked at Yugi expectantly. Yugi blushed lightly at all the attention he was receiving.
"Hi..." he meekly waved at everyone,"My name's Yugi... Yugi Mouto. I'm also a sophomore." He rubbed the back of his neck and turned to the girl Roxy had been calling Folio.
"Uhm... hi. My real name's Nicole, but you guys can call me Folio. I'm a freshman." she then waved and stood quietly waiting for the next person to go.
"Why's your name Folio?" Alice asked , she'd never gotten the chance to til now to the incoming freshman.
"'Cuz her last name's Foley! And since we got two Nicoles, we need a way to tell them apart. 'Sides," Roxy commented,"I've been calling her that since she moved her last year." Everyone just nodded and the introductions continued.
"I'm Heather!" shouted a rather eager tall girl to the left of Yugi. She flashed everyone a cheesy grin.
"My name's Alice. I'm a senior... the only one..." she added quite ruefully.
"My name's Michele. And that short disgruntled blonde to my right is Eylse." Michele pointed to her.
"Hey! I'm not short!" Eylse shouted.
"Cheyeah... just vertically challenged..." Heather scoffed, giggling at her own political correctness. Eylse simply mumbled curses under her breath. The other Nicole cleared her throat.
"Ehem! There's plenty of time to argue later. As well as corrupt our new and only freshman. My name's Nicole also."
"Hey!" Heather shouted, her eyes wide, "I got it! We could call them Nicole squared!" she burst out into laughter with everyone else. After the introductions the rest of the meeting went smoothly. Sectionals with each section were going to be held tomorrow so each section could listen to the show's music and receive their own sheet music to practice. Saxophones were to meet at three-thirty after the clarinets, but before the percussion.
* * * * After the meeting* * * *
"I can't wait to hear this year's music!" Roxy jumped onto a large rock on the street corner as she and Yugi waited for the light to change.
"Yeah, I know what you mean."Yugi added excitedly. "I really wanna know what he meant by 'something new' this year." Roxy nodded and got down from her perch. Let's go!" she yelled as she pointed to the now green light. "Race ya!" she yelled as she took off across the street.
"No fair!" Yugi cried,"You got a head start!" Yugi ran after her, his shorter legs trying to keep up with her pace.
* * * * A little while later * * * *
Roxy and Yugi had stopped running long ago. She'd won of course leaving Yugi to sulk about how short he was. But he'd forgotten all about losing when they started talking about their freshman year. "God! Don't remind me of the Opening's part when I had to do six to five step sizes at that fast tempo!" Roxy made a face. "I fell down twice!" Yugi laughed.
"Not to mention that one time you fell into Lyndsey's ladder!"Roxy stopped and gapped.
"You remember that!?" she then proceeded to smack her forehead. "Geez, I was hoping nobody had seen that..."
"Are you kidding Roxy?" Yugi giggled. "Everyone saw it! It was so loud." Roxy made a stupid face and stuck our her tongue.
"One of my more graceful moments I'm sure."
"Yep." Yugi agreed.
"Well, this is my house Yugi." Roxy stopped in front of a grayish house with lots of shrubbery decorating the walkway. "Guess I'll see you later then?" she gestured towards him. Yugi nodded. "Will you be at the shop today?" she asked.
"Yeah, I promised grandpa I'd help him run it today. You can drop by if you want to."
"Cool. Well, I'll see you then right? Bye Yugi!" she waved as she ran up the walkway to her house.
""Bye!" Yugi waved back. He waited until she was in her home before he continued walking to his own home. He only got halfway down the block before someone or something shoved him forward... hard. And the pavement, as everyone knows, was unforgiving.
* * * * Yami's POV * * * *
I was sitting in a tree listening to my cd player and softly drumming on my chest. People often think I'm obsessed with band. Wrong. Just percussion if anything. And maybe I am, oh well. I was just about to reach into my back pocket and pull out my drumsticks when I saw him. His likeness to myself was uncanny. Ironic even. My sticks forgotten, I leaned over the branch I was on to get a better look. Yes, he did resemble me... but we had our differences. His eyes, they were much wider... much more violet in color than my own scarlet eyes. He was also much shorter. Even from there in the tree it was obvious. That was when it happened. I saw three guys come up behind him. They were wearing unbelievably baggy pants and logo-ed t-shirts. Long gold and silver chains hand around their necks. The way they carried themselves... they were obviously gangster wannabes... I'd seen their type before. They snuck behind him and shoved him forward. I felt my eyes widen when he hit the sidewalk. I couldn't explain why, but just then, I felt an anger rise in me that I'd never felt before in my life. He didn't deserve this... Even if this wasn't my business, I wasn't gonna stand for it. Making up my mind right then and there, I jumped out of the tree and landed behind them.
* * * * Back to Yugi * * * *
"Heya band geek!" one boy taunted. Yugi tried to stand up, but was kicked in his side. His whimper of pain was not heard.
'I really shouldn't have put that band pin on my bookbag... or even those letters on my school jacket... or maybe I shouldn't have worn this shirt today.' Yugi looked down and saw his marching band shirt from their show last year.
"You like that nerd?" another boy kicked him in his behind sending him forward towards the ground again.
"Want some more you little fag?" the last boy of the group asked as he made a fist, ready to punch Yugi in the back of his head. But before he could, he was interrupted by a newcomer.
"Leave him alone." the voice stated flatly.
"What you say?" the first boy, and obviously the leader of the group, turned around to face Yami. "You wanna protect this band nerd here?" all the boys broke out in laughter. Yami just shook his head.
"I said, leave him alone." At that Yugi looked up to try and catch a glimpse of the boy trying to save him. But found he couldn't when someone's foot was weighing him down. Yugi knew better than to struggle, so still he stayed.
"Oh yeah? Is that so? Well then, what you gonna do 'bout it?" the leader scoffed at Yami as he pressed his foot further into Yugi's back. Yugi cried out in pain. Yami's glare only intensified. The leader of the group nodded towards Yami signaling his friends to take care of him. Yami simply smirked when one of them cracked his knuckles and approached him. The boy threw a punch not expecting Yami to duck and uppercut him in his jaw. The sickening crunch of bone meeting bone seemed to echo off the trees. All the boys stared dumbfounded at Yami for a moment before they all fled in retreat. Yami sneered at their backs before leaning down to help Yugi up. Yugi whimpered slightly when he stood. He slowly opened his eyes to look up at his savior, but gasped at what he saw,The boy who'd rescued him looked just like him.
"Who... who are you?" he whispered softly still gawking slightly. Yami didn't respond right away and continued to stare at the little one before him.
'My God, he's more captivating up close...' It was then that Yugi noticed a warmth enveloping his hands. He peered down for a second to see his hands were being gently held by the boy from when he'd helped him up. Yugi glanced back up at the boy and flushed. The said boy also noticed he was still holding Yugi's hands and let them go immediately. A light pink dusted his cheeks as he looked down to the pavement. Yugi nervously giggled.
"My name is Yami..." the boy responded after what seemed like an eternity of silence.
"M-mine's Yugi..." Yugi said shakily. Both boys stood in silence until Yugi spoke once more. "Thank you for helping me back there... You didn't have to..." Yami shook his head.
"It's nothing. Are you okay?" he asked concerned. Yugi nodded.
"I guess I better get going... thanks again... Yami." Yugi smiled sweetly at his savior one last time before he took off in a run towards the game shop. Yami watched Yugi run, to where he wasn't sure.
'You certainly are a strange one Yugi... alluring yet bizarre all at once.' Yami thought as he stood there in silence long after Yugi had disappeared from his sight.
Jinhito: And I'm stopping there for now! So, what do ya think?
//.n : I'm happy you were able to actually write more than one page here!
Jinhito: -.-;; My notebook paper tells me it was seven pages long in the writing process.
Yugi: *pops out of nowhere again*
Jinhito: *to herself* ¬.¬ I really gotta figure out how he does that...
Yugi: You know, for every page typed, it's two pages written. So really, this was only three and a half pages long.
Jinhito: So not true! I write small genius! *holds up her notebook* See see! Small print! *points at her small handwriting*
//.ò : Can those chicken peck scratches be considered writing?
Jinhito: *blows him a raspberry* Oh hush... you're just illiterate!
Yugi: *laughs at Trowa*
//.-;; : Oh yeah... sure... why doesn't everyone just pick on Trowa? *sulks*
Jinhito: Aw... we love you Trowa! *hugs him* I'll even let you ask for reviews...
//.o: Hot damn. Well minna-san, what did you think? Should we continue? Anyone got any votes for what we should make Anzu?
Yugi: Anything but Saxophone! I see enough of her as is...
Jinhito: Whoa! Yugi! Did you just dis someone!? This is unheard of!
Yugi: Well, the "biatch" is invading my personal space and my Yami!
Jinhito and Trowa: Whoa... Yugi just used a slang swear... o.o;; //.o;;
Yami: *appears as mysteriously as Yugi did* That's right! I don't want some crazy woman like her when I have my Aibou. *hugs his hikari and everyone goes aw*
Jinhito: *clears her throat* Yeah! So, anyway... ¬.¬*looks strangely towards Yami and Yugi* Well, I'm gonna go to my room and work on Returning Memories. I think I've figured out how to write the next chapter. So, please be patient about that. Well, please review this story and tell me what you think! I'll write faster.
//.- : Remember, reviews are fuel. She does actually work when she gets reviews... 'Less she gets writer's block... again.
Jinhito: Very true, bye for now! *waves and runs off* By the way! I actually fell, my freshman year, the same way I made Roxy fall in the story... let me tell you... ladders are not kind... -.-;;
[1] Folio - {pronounced Fol-e-o}This is a nickname my saxophone section gave to Nicole Foley. She's the coolest Alto Freshman at Andrew.
