Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Be Careful Of What You Wish For , It Might Come True ❯ Prelude ( Prologue )

Marik Ishtar looked out at the city of domino. It looked peaceful enough. Of course, he was looking though the eyes of several people though the magic of his millennium rod. He could see the landing docks, the aquarium where his next victims where. One currently engaged in a duel and the other chanting "go Joey" or something to that effect. They would come in handy later. Bu what was more important at the moment, was that he could see Haisis. He sipped the coffee he had and put in back on the table.

`Haisis' he thought `it won't be long till you meet your destruction. After 11000 years of life it's about time someone taught you the peacefulness of death.'

Haisis was a goddess. Well, half goddess. Rendenhotep's daughter. And more importantly the daughter of Isis. The mistress of magic herself. Rendenhotep was the first king of ancient Egypt. The very first human ruler of the New Kingdom. Isis saw what an accomplished ruler he was and how much he had reminded him of her lost husband, Osiris. She couldn't help but fall in love. She bore a daughter by him. This didn't go over well with the council of gods and ra told Isis that her child would have to be mortal and die one day for Isis' imprudence. Of course this act was carried out and for 13 years Isis had searched to make her child immortal again. And had. Of course, Haisis would never be fully immortal, because of her mortal father, but at 13 she managed to save her daughter from destruction, and Haisis had been alive ever since that day.

But none of this mattered to marik. She was still able to die. She still had mortality in her. And by the end of the day, she'd be dead. And chaos would insure. Oh what joy it would be to see the world in chaos. When Isis was destroyed, her magic and the magic of the world were given to her daughter. And after she was dead, there'd be no vessel strong enough to hold all of that magic. When she was gone, all of the magic would be separated over the world, uncontrollable.

But again marik wasn't thinking about this. The effect this would have on the pharaoh was all that mattered. After today, the puzzle would be his. For sure.

Haisis shivered. She was being watched. Year upon year of experience of this had taught her that much. You didn't become a guardian of the pharaoh without basic instincts. Which she had. And she was being watched. Case closed. She turned around. Sure enough, there was someone. And not only was it someone, but someone being controlled by the Millennium Rod. She sighed. Fantastic. This was the last thing she needed. The M. rod had given her and her companions a lot of trouble in Egypt, once upon a time. But now, she tried to remember who held the rod. Adolph Hitler? No, that was last century. She fingered her necklace. A star made out of a single thin wire. Given to her by mother. Which was saying something. She cringed. Memories are something she didn't like, and rarely did they come in handy. Which was why she carried her necklace. All of her memory and that of a long gone friends from 3000 BC. memories were contained in it. Marik. That was his name. And Isis as his sister. `hmmm. That's blastomus that is. Taking the name of a goddess. My mother's name nonetheless' she thought.

She started to walk and turned a glance towards the man who was watching her. He started walking as well. `oh joy. Now I'm being followed. Exactly what I need right now.' Oh course this man by himself posed no real thereat to her. It was the man behind the magic that was making her uneasy. She might be virtually unstoppable, but she wasn't inbicialbe.

She felt a bolt of magic strike her. Sending her to the ground. Pain worst then she's ever felt began to course thought her. Magic she had held for millenniums were escaping off into the world. Wait. No they weren't. Into her necklace. She sighed in relief. Or as much relief as a dying person could sigh in. the world was still going to be safe. The pain had coursed thoughout her entirely, and black had started to edge it's way around her sight. `Oh well' she thought `at least the world will be safe.' It's up to Apophis now' and darkness snapped around her. But she couldn't help but wonder, how had Marik known what type of magic would kill her? She gasped and tried to warn Apophis, but it was no good. She closed her eyes for good.

17 miles away, Bakura Ryou, and 29 miles away, Yugi Muto, both felt a sharp pain in their soul rooms. And Apophis heard a warning. And long story short, he did not like what he heard.

Marik looked through his mind-slaves eyes. SUCCESS! All that was left of the acclaimed goddess was a bracelet that long ago would have identified her as nobility, a blue watch, and a pick one. Both looked to be 12 hours apart from one another. And a wire necklace in the shape of a star. It had been quite an explosion. He sensed her trying to warn someone about him, and then, she disappeared in an array of blue and white lights that exploded. It was the necklace Marik was after. `Perfect' he thought, `all I have to do know is give this to the pharaoh and then the puzzle will be mine.'

Few, done. All right, a tiny bit of symbolism used. The story of Isis is true; Apophis was the enemy of ra that is usually represented by the pharaoh (big hint there. Review and tell me who you think he is. Yes, It is a he. And he is a yugioh character) and I know I have an inconsistency between Japanese. And English names. That was done on purpose. So long and good night people. -Pax
