Chapter 1

Why had he gone with Mokuba's idea to get foreign exchange student was far beyond Seto Kaiba's normally cold, hard, and emotionally lost mind. He had finally come to the conclusion that it was for his baby brother's happiness and nothing more as the two of them sat in one of the smaller limos on the way to the Domino City airport later on that summer.

Oddly, the days that summer had grown very hot and extremely humid. Sometimes, it was near unbearable.

Kaiba sighed, wiping some sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, the high hanging sun getting to him already and it wasn't even 10 in the morning yet. Something had to give with this heat wave and soon. Mokuba was getting harder and harder to control as summer's end came nearer and nearer and the young boy's urge to be outside grew larger and larger.

But, Seto knew that the little one would be sick from the sun in a matter of moments and that was one thing he hated to see: Mokuba hurting. He sighed and looked at the child as he watched the world go by from his window, his eyes sparkling like they always did. But, he took note of something else as well. "How much sleep did you get last night, kid?"

"None… I was too excited to sleep!" Mokuba grinned. Kaiba inwardly chuckled. He knew that Mokuba would be asleep in a matter of hours once they got back to the house with the student they had both agreed on.

All they knew about her was her name, she was from the United States and what her school records stated. They had no picture to go by and the only the feature she told them in an e-mail she sent them was that she had short brown hair. How could you tell a girl apart from others just knowing that? Kaiba asked himself mentally over and over again and again.

He sighed as they pulled into the airport near the front entrance and there she was. A girl around his age stood near the curb, a suitcase at her feet, backpack on her back, and a duffle bag hanging from her slender left hand. She was about 5 inches shorter than he, a good height for a teenage girl. She had long, slender legs, tanned from the summer's rays. Her arms weren't lanky, but fell gently to her sides. He looked her over as he got out of the limo when it stopped, his white jacket flowing behind him.

A soft wind passed over them as he came near to her, Mokuba following him out of the car. "You must be Jenna…" he said, offering her a hand.

Her lips pulled up, a bright smile kissing her face as her emerald eyes glowed at him, the faint hint of hue like blue in them shinning like the stars on a clear summer's night. Her brown hair fell in soft wave like curls about her face and down onto her lithe shoulders, her bangs falling softly into her eyes, her long lashes protecting them from the edges of her hair. Like her legs, the skin on her face was tan, but as he got a closer look, it seemed more of a natural than a sun born tan.

"Yes, I am." She said, taking his hand with her open one. "You must be Kaiba." She said, her smile continuing to stay on her face.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." He said, withdrawing his hand from hers, placing his other on top of his brother's head. "And this is Mokuba."

Jenna smiled and knelt down to the boy's level. "Hello, Mr. Mokuba. It's nice to meet you. Your brother has told me a lot about you in his e-mails." She said, shaking the child's hand.

Mokuba blushed a little. "It's nice to finally meet you, Miss Jenna." He said, smiling.

She smiled and stood. "Call me Jenna, please. I insist."

"And you can call me Mokuba." He said, grinning. She giggled and Seto smiled.

"Com'on, kid. I am sure Miss Jenna would like to get to the house and settle in. Besides…" He scooped his brother up. "You don't need anymore sun this summer." Jenna giggled once more at the face that Mokuba made, his little nose scrunched up, eyes half closed and lip a pout.

"Oh, alright… But only if you PROMISE to go swimming with me this afternoon." The child held out his pinky.

Seto couldn't help but chuckle and took it with his own. "I promise."

"Duelist's honor?"

"Duelist's honor." Seto swore, smiling as his brother hugged him before climbing down and dashing into the car. He shook his head.

Jenna smiled. "Cute kid…" She said. "How old is he?"

"He just turned 10 this past July." Seto said, the chauffeur taking her bags from her. "Come. Lunch is waiting for us when we get home. Afterwards…" He said as he let her climb in the limo before himself, joining her and his brother a second later. "I will personally show you around the house." He said, bowing his head to her slightly.

Jenna smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Kaiba."

"Just call me Kaiba. All of my friends do." He said before looking out the window, not knowing that she was still gazing at him softly.
