Chapter 1: The Secret

& nbsp; It was a crisp day, the sun was shining brightly, but the wind made walking very troublesome. Joey, running ten minutes late, ran down the street. He took a left at the corner, and barely escaped getting run over by a little old man on a motorized scooter. He jumped over the school fence and ran across the back field. After all of his efforts the late bell rang ten seconds before he rounded the hall to homeroom.
"Sorry . . . I'm . . . late." he panted heavily from the doorway.
"That is the twelfth time this month Mr. Wheeler."
"Yes Sir. Sorry Sir." Joey walked into the class room and sat down in his usual seat in the back of the room.
"I am sorry, but I have no choice. Detention Mr. Wheeler." Joey sighed heavily. His Dad would not be pleased.
"Yes Sir."
"~Good Morning Students! On behalf of the Chamber Singers, please do not throw candy grams at the Chorus members. The Kendo practice has been cancelled for this afternoon due to unexplainable reasons. Practice is rescheduled for tomorrow at three thirty. Rehearsals for the Winter Musical '1776' will take place in the school auditorium at six o'clock this evening. A full schedule has been posted on the auditorium door. The boys and girls track meets will be held on Friday according to schedule. We wish you the best of luck. Lastly, the talent show has been moved to next Tuesday, the proceeds go to the graduating class of 2005. Thank you and have a terrific Tuesday. ~"
Joey had only been half listening to the announcements as he looked out the window. A few birds flew by, searching for shelter from the wind. There were storm clouds rolling in and a thunderstorm would hit by the end of the day.
The bell rang and Joey picked up his backpack, leaving the room first.
"Joey!" Joey looked over to see Yugi waving at him enthusiastically.
"Hey," Joey walked over to his friend. "Where is everyone?" he asked, noticing the lack of Tea, Duke, and Tristan.
"Oh, Tea had to get to class early and double check her homework with Mi. Duke had a dentist appointment so he'll be late, and I haven't seen Tristan this morning." Yugi explained thoroughly.
"Oh." Joey looked down as Yugi dropped a book. "I'll get it."
"Thanks." Yugi closed his locker. "We should get going to Geometry."
"Yeah." Joey kept looking around, as though expecting something.
He was looking behind him when he ran into someone. "Sorry Yug-" he looked up to see none other than Seto Kaiba.
"You better be sorry." he scowled as he walked by.
"Jerk." Joey muttered as he walked on, catching up to Yugi.
The two walked in to class and sat down beside each other.
"Joey, you look apprehensive. Everything all right?" Yugi asked.
"Yeah." he answered shortly. Finally he visibly relaxed as he saw him walk in.
"Tristan!" Yugi waved the same enthusiastic wave he had shown Joey earlier.
"Hey guys." he sat down in front of Yugi, diagonal from Joey. "You two wanna hang out and get some pizza or go to the arcade after school?"
"Sure." Yugi agreed.
"I have detention."
"Again?" Tristan and Yugi asked in unison.
"Yeah. I was late to homeroom."
"Do we have to buy you a new alarm clock?" Yugi joked.
"Maybe he's making it up so he doesn't have to hang out with us." Tristan pretended to be hurt.
"You know that's not true." Joey defended.
"Whatever. You can just come meet up with us after. I am sure Duke has detention too, you can both come."
"Cool."
"What is 'cool' Mr. Wheeler?" apparently the bell had rung and everyone was quiet except for Joey.
"Nothing Ms. Tempi." he sat back quickly, his eyes downcast.
"Well than could we keep the chatter to a minimum?"
"Yes Ms. Tempi."
"The equilateral triangle has the same -" class droned on and Joey nearly fell asleep.

& nbsp; "Come on Yugi." Tea pulled at Yugi's sleeve, urging him to keep walking.
"You and Duke have fun in detention." He smiled as he continued to be dragged out the door. "You comin' Tristan?"
"I'll be right there, just got to use the bathroom." he scratched the back of his head.
"Come on Joey." Duke began walking into the detention room.
"I'll be right there, I need to get some batteries for my walkman out of my locker."
"Whatever."
Joey and Tristan began walking in the same direction. Tristan turned into the bathroom and Joey nonchalantly followed him in. Tristan turned around, smirking at Joey. He walked into the handicapped stall and pulled Joey with him. He pushed Joey against the wall, kissing him hard on the lips. Joey returned the kiss with passion and lust. Tristan pulled away, slightly out of breath and began kissing his way along Joeys slim neck. Joey let out an audible moan. He ground his leg against Tristans crotch, allowing his member to twitch to life. Tristan groaned at the contact and pulled away from Joey.
"You play dirty." he smiled.
"I learned from the best Trist." Joey whispered in a husky tone.
"Don't you have detention?" he asked, straightening his uniform.
"Yeah, yeah I'm goin'."
"Get that beautiful ass to detention and hurry up to the arcade." Tristan smacked Joey on the ass as he left the stall. Joey turned around and gave him a fake look of surprise.
Joey winked and made his way hurriedly to detention before the late bell rang.
Joey and Duke spent the detention having to do clean up the science labs and polishing all the desks in the old building.
When detention finally ended at four thirty the pair walked to the arcade. They quickly spotted Yugi, it was easy with the flamboyant hair, Tea wasn't too far away. Joey looked around for Tristan, but couldn't find him. He looked sad for a moment but quickly perked under his friends gaze.
"Yug, I'm hungry I'm going to go grab some fries. Does anybody else want anything?" Tea asked.
"Nah." everyone shook their heads.
"I'll go with you Tea, I could use something to drink." Yugi and Tea walked out of the arcade and across the street to "Donorellies Pizza".
"They are such a great couple." Duke observed.
"You're not bitter about loosing out to Yug are ya?" Joey asked.
"Nah. I like Mi." he nudged Joeys ribs and they laughed.
"Hey guys!" Tristan came over and Joey smiled as Tristan neared them.
"Hey," they said back in unison.
"Where is everyone else? I just went to get a soda."
"So did they." Duke explained.
"Oh, we must have missed each other."
"Shit, I got to get home. It's almost five, my dad'll be coming home. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Joey looked at the illuminate clock on the far wall.
"I'll walk you home Joey." Tristan declared.
"Nah, that's all right. I wouldn't want Duke to be alone after all." he smiled, trying to get out the door.
"That's okay guys, I think I see a fine little thang I'd like to talk to anyway. I'll tell Yug and Tea where you went."
"Okay." Joey sighed and allowed Tristan to walk him home.
On the way home Tristan debated saying something to Joey, something that had been bothering him for a long time. He just couldn't formulate the words.
"Tristan," Joey said suddenly.
"Yeah?"
"What's wrong?" he asked, sensing his friends distress.
"Why," he stopped, "Why haven't we told Yugi and the others? About us?" he looked down, trying to gather his thoughts.
"I . . . I just don't think it's right to go parading around like that." Joey kept walking.
"What do you mean 'parading' around? Tea and Yugi told us when they started going out. We should have the same courtesy." Tristans anger was bubbling over and he was nearly yelling at Joey.
"I just don't want it getting around." Joey quickly realized what he had said. "I didn't mean it like that Tristan."
"Don't want it 'getting around' huh?" Tristan stopped walking and looked straight at Joey. "Are you ashamed of being with me? Are you ashamed of feeling how you do? Do you even feel how you do? Are you just making things up so you can take advantage of me?"
"Now you're just talking crazy Tristan! You know I care about you." Joey took a deep breath, "I just, can't let my dad find out. You know how he is about homosexuality. If he ever knew, I don't think I would wake up the following morning." Joey considered his options for a moment. "Besides, there are a bunch of people at school who wouldn't be too supportive and I don't need to be getting into fights more than I already do. It's not you Tristan."
"I am sorry Joey. I know. I just can't help but think that. Ya know? I mean we've been 'linked' for months and I feel like its a big scandal because we have to hide it all the time."
"I know Tristan. I am sorry I can't do anything about it." Joey held his head down, avoiding all eye contact with Tristan.
"Hey, it's okay." Tristan took Joey into his arms and hugged him. Joey hugged back, squeezing tightly. "Is your dad home?"
"Not yet." the pair pulled away, "Wanna come up?" Joey asked, opening the front door of the apartment building.
"Sure."

&nb sp; So, chapter 1! Woo! This is my first YU GI OH Fic. Yay! I actually incorporated Yugi into an Inu Fic I wrote once called A Christmas Story but the story sucked and so blah. I got this idea watching the Yu GI OH movie the other day. I know its probably been done, I don't read to many of the YUGI fanfics (Sorry). I hope that this doesn't throw you off though, the plot is MUCH more intricate. Anyway, review if you like. ^.^ Love you guys thanks for reading - much love Anubis!
