Chapter 9: Weekend Being

Kaiba looked down at his watch and sighed. He looked up at the clock on the wall and shook his head. A few minutes passed in silence before Kaiba looked at his watch again and released an exasperated sigh.
“Would you stop that?!” Joey asked, slamming his chair down onto four legs.
“I do apologize. I just cannot believe that Alexial is a half an hour late.” Seto said, looking Joey in the eye.
“Well, your OCDness is driving me crazy.”
“I do not have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.” Seto defended.
“Then why do you check every clock in this room a dozen times?”
“I’m just…”
“Impatient?” Joey prompted.
“Fine. Impatient. But I am not OCD.” Seto pouted slightly and Joey burst out laughing. “What?”
“The infamous Seto Kaiba is pouting over being teased.” Joey coughed, trying to stop himself from laughing. “I mean, it’s just something you don’t see every day.”
“I was not pouting.” Kaiba said in defense. “I was… okay pouting.”
Joey laughed again but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Who is it?” Kaiba called.
“It is Seth, presenting Miss Alexial.”
“You may enter.” Kaiba smirked to Joey, as Joey rolled his eyes at Kaiba’s response.
“Hey guys.” Alexial said. “Sorry about being out forever. I was totally sick.” She smiled and sat down on the other side of the table, across from Joey. “So, what’s going on?”
“Well our projects finished. We just have a little bit of visual stuff to touch up, but really we’re done.” Joey summed up.
“Yes. You missed all of our after school session, during which we compiled information, compared notes from one text to another, and-”
“Kaiba, she didn’t ask for a doctoral analysis. Geez.” Alexial giggled and smiled sweetly to Joey. “Anyway Alexial, what we did was the space program. I printed you out an extra note sheet, and you should be fine on presentation day. Just read what I highlighted for you, and if you get asked a question or something and you don’t get it, just put your hair behind your ear as a signal for one of us to take over.”
“Aww, you rock Joey. Thanks so much.” She smiled as she read through the notes.
“Yes, and next time it would probably be best if you were around for the research so we would not have this problem.”
“Dude, she was sick, give her a break.” Joey rolled his eyes at Kaiba.
“You are just too sweet Joey.” Alexial said. “Well, guess I can read this on my own. Thanks so much guys!” She hugged Kaiba and Joey before turning to walk out.
“I can walk you out. It’s easy to get lost in this place.” Joey said.
“Thanks.” She turned back to Kaiba. “Later Kaiba.”
“Good Bye Alexial.”
Joey walked Alexial to the front gate. “Do you have a ride?” Joey asked.
“Nope. But I’m in walking distance.” She smiled.
“Do you want me to walk you home?”
“Oh aren’t you a sweetie.” She smiled, “No that’s okay. Thanks though. I’ll see you in class Monday.” She kissed Joey’s cheek and turned down the sidewalk. “Night.”
“Bye.” Joey smiled and turned back to the house. Kaiba was standing in the front door. Joey smirked.
“Were you spying on me Kaiba?” Joey asked.
“No.” Kaiba said quickly, turning to go back to the study room.
“Uh huh. Sure.” Joey turned and ran up the stairs.
“Where are you going?” Kaiba asked.
“To my room. Can I daddy please?” Joey rolled his eyes and disappeared out of sight.
“God I love that boy.” Kaiba whispered.
“Maybe you should tell him.” Seth said, “Coffee?”
“You shouldn’t sneak up on people Seth.” Kaiba took the coffee and gave Seth an unreadable look.
“I would never sneak up on someone sir.”
“Besides, I couldn’t tell him. He has Tristan. I can’t be selfish and ruin that.” He took a sip of the coffee. “It’s decaf.” He complained.
“Yes Sir. You requested.”
“I know. It’s disgusting, but I need sleep. Haven’t much lately.”
“Too busy thinking about someone?”
“None of your business.”
