Broken Reality
Chapter 5: Dance of Progression

The tight leather pants pulled at his skin as he fastened the last snap. The accompanying leather vest was tight and short, slipping up to reveal a band of toned flesh above the low waist of the pants. He took a seat on the bed, a location he was planning on returning too quite soon, to buckle the three large straps on each of his heavy boots. Swinging the large chain and Puzzle about his neck he added a few other adornments: several simple bangles, an arm band, a matching thick buckle around his neck, and one dangling earring inserted into his recently pierced right ear.

The makeup he had gathered proved a bit more of a problem. Never being exposed to a mother's habits and never developing his own habit of wearing it, he was unfamiliar with even the basic applications. But after several trials, all wiped away with a washcloth, he succeeded in achieving the look he wanted. His lips gleamed with light gloss, his high cheeks held more than a natural blush, and his eyes, traced with black liner and highlighted by shining silver shadow, stood out like amethyst gems to reveal their true beauty.

Looking into the mirror, he smile, a sad little smile. The boy was almost gone. He looked older, ready. This should throw Yami off guard, allow hiss inner voice to go unnoticed by the other. It should get him what he wanted....no, needed to have.

Yami sat quietly in the kitchen. Three hours ago it had been announced by Yugi that they would be going out, really going out, not a bite to eat at the local hang out, but a club. How Yugi intended to get in was beyond Yami but that particular mystery was far down on the priority list.

For three days Yugi had been different, not quite removed, just distant. The boy was hiding something, planning. There was a secret between them. Yami was never fond of secrets.

His thoughts were cut off all together as Yugi made his appearance at the doorway. Yami heard himself gasp at the sudden change of his light's attire. It put to shame the simple tank top and jeans he has hastily selected.

Stepping forward, he watched Yugi stare at him nervously, waiting for a remark of approval. Leaning down, he placed a chaste kiss on the boy's lips, pulling away to roll his lips over the flavored gloss and offer him a gentle smile.

"You look...wonderful."

Yugi grinned, pulling at his arm and ushering them out the door. The stars shone brightly throughout the cloudless sky, but Yami's attention was focused on the boy beside him. Yugi had latched onto his arm, apparently unconcerned of watching eyes, as they walked down the street in what he considered comfortable silence.

Getting in had held none of the problems Yami had expected. The owner and acting bouncer, having hair a familiar shade of blond that betrayed him as a relation of a friend, had simply nodded them in, stopping only a moment to scrawl a hasty "x" with a black marker on each of Yugi's hands, marking him underage and unfit to drink.

Walking through the double doors, Yami was assaulted suddenly by the pulsing music, lights of different colors, red, blue, green, yellow, purple, flashed on and off in fits of action, cutting through the darkness to illuminate the crowd of people on the dance floor. Others sat at the bar, still others at tables and in corners, carrying out improper actions unfit for public places. Yami's first reaction was to cover the wide eyes of his light, but they were soon greeted by one of many waitresses and asked if they cared for a table.

Seated at one of the quieter edges, quieter meaning you might be heard if you yelled loud enough, Yami ordered a coke for each of them. The waitress nodded at the request and left, but not without making an obvious grab for Yami's attention. She was summarily dismissed by a glare. Yugi smiled slightly, laying his hand across Yami's and squeezing it tightly.

"Yugi?"

"Yes Yami?" innocent purple eyes blinked up at him.

"Why are we here Aibou?" he leaned close to ask, making sure the other heard the demand for truth in his voice.

"We're here because...because," he stumbled over the words, truth threatening to spill out. "Dance with me Yami!" he finally cried, leaping from his seat and taking Yami with him. Latching their hands together, he drug his other self onto the dance floor, cutting between the people to find a small clearing just to the right of a swirling disco ball.

Yami moved unsurely, dancing was not something he did often. Yugi on the other hand seemed to be a natural. He swayed with the music, twisting and bending, letting the leather pants reveal what they would. Taking Yami's hands, he guided them around his own waist. The taller of the two felt himself drawn in to Yugi's intoxicating movements, pulled closer by small hands and led by deep eyes.

The small dots of light swam across their forms as the throbbing colors lit their hair and skin to radiant, unnatural colors. It was all surreal to Yami.

Soon they moved as one, playing off each other's movements and changing tempo with whatever song was going. After a particularly upbeat number, the DJ took a break, leaving the dancers with music most found unsatisfactory, so the floor cleared.

Yami fell back into his chair, breathing heavily. Yugi sat on the edge of his own, hands fisted in his lap. As the night wore on, his nervousness had grown almost unbearable. Holes in his plan had began to surface in his mind and his faith in his own determination was fading.

/Aibou?/

The voice startled him, their bond had been quiet as of late.

//Yes Yami?//

/Why are we here?/

Tell me, the voice said without saying. And Yugi wanted to; he wanted to tell him everything, to reveal the secret of his heart and stop his own foolish actions before they led to trouble.

/You can tell me anything little Yugi./

Little. That damnable word struck a cord in his mind that set him to rights with all the things that were to come. Straitening his posture, he met dark eyes strongly with his own.

"One more dance Yami, then I will tell you."''

He nodded.

The song was quick and heavy. Yugi wasted no time in taking up the pace. He surprised Yami by reaching up to encircle his neck with his arms, letting his body mold itself to other's. Not to miss a chance to hold his love, Yami pressed forward. His light shifted again, letting Yami's thigh slip between his legs, letting him feel the hardness that grew there when he was in the other's presence. Yami smiled, it was almost predatory.

Yugi was glad. It was working.

Still in the flux of dancing, Yami bit lightly at his light's neck, hands wandering lower to cup the perfect little bottom that he so liked to admire when no one was looking. People were watching now, but somehow it didn't seem to matter.

Nothing mattered except having the boy that stayed so willingly in his arms.

He wanted Yugi.

He wanted Yugi now.

The music stopped, leaving their legs entwined and faces inches from each other. Reaching up, Yugi placed a hand on Yami's cheek, drawing him in and kissing him gently before speaking in a voice rough with emotion.

"Tonight Yami. I want you."

"Aibou?"

"I'm ready Yami. Take me."

Notes: See? See? I told you I was getting there. If I get five reviews, I'll get started right away on mixing up a hot little lemon cake. But geez, I spent all that time putting those pretty clothes on Yugi and now Yami's just gonna take 'em all off!
