Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Bull's-Eye ❯ Chapter 2

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

I decided to continue with this one-shot/continuation fic, whatever you wanna call it. It seemed to sound better and better the more I added to it. I promise there will be no ordinary Mary-Sues in this fic. Do not flame me if you can't read my warnings, too. Also, in this chapter there are parts where it tells you what the characters are thinking, but I'm sure you're all smart enough to figure out who is who. It is usually set in italics, but if it's not, that is not my fault, it's to do with Microsoft Word and MM.org I guess… anyhow, enjoy this chapter. Any ideas are welcome. Sorry about reposting this chapter about three times now, I just want to perfect it as much as I can.

WARNING: Slight language in this chapter, a bit angsty.

===============================

"Fine. But we will duel abiding by my rules."

"Which are?"

"We will use my new duel disk invention. It works as holograms just as a dueling arena would." He pulled out a strange device from his briefcase and put it on his arm. He pulled out a second device and handed it to me. I took another drag of my cigarette.

"I'm sure you're a smart enough girl to figure out how it works." Kaiba said bitterly.

I shot him an evil stare which I swear gave him a slight scare. "Give me your deck to shuffle then, hotshot."

He reluctantly handed me his deck as I handed mine over. We both shuffled them in different ways but equally as skilled. "Alright that will do." Kaiba said. We exchanged decks once more and stood up. I put on my duel disk and slotted my deck into it.

"How many star chips are we dueling for?" Kaiba asked.

"One. I only need one until I am authorized to enter Pegasus' castle."

"Hm." He chuckled at me. "Very good. So do I."

"Then let the games begin." A bitterly cold wind rushed between us and the waves seemed to crash harder onto the sand. I stubbed out my cigarette and drew my hand.

"You can do the honours, Kaiba." I offered.

He fixed his eyes on me for a second or two and turned to his hand, examining it carefully. "I will play the Mystic Horseman in defense mode! I will also place one card face down."

"Very well. I play my Red Archery Girl… in attack mode. I will put one face card down but first I will activate my magic card Stop Defense! That switches your monster into attack mode, leaving you wide open for an attack, Kaiba! Red Archery Girl, attack his Mystic Swordsman now!"

"Not so fast, dollface. Activate trap card Trap Hole now!"

"Think again, Kaiba! I trigger my face down card, Remove Trap! Your trap card has been rendered inactive, therefore my Archery Girl can still attack! Go Red Archery Girl! Blow his Mystic Horseman to pieces!"

I snickered haughtily as my weak monster shattered his own monster. Kaiba shielded himself from the bright holographic light as his monster was destroyed. He clenched his fist into a ball and elicited a growl through his teeth. Having lost a chunk of life points was like a stab in the heart to him - if he had a heart.

"That will teach you for ever calling me dollface again!" I reproached, crossing my arms across my chest conceitedly.

"This duel is just beginning! Now make your move…" Kaiba's eyebrows creased as low as they could go into a grimace. I depicted that he wasn't the type who enjoyed losing.

I drew my next card. Excellent. My Swords of Revealing Light could hold him for three turns, giving me a chance to draw my Blue Eyes. In my hand I currently had my Dark Magician Girl, Mystical Elf, Mystical Forest (field card), my De-spell magic card, Mirror Force, Toon World and Monster Reborn. Toon World and Monster Reborn would come in handy later on.

"I activate my Mystical Forest field card, which conceals any of my monsters and I will summon a monster in attack mode and I might place one card face down. Your turn, Seto."

He cringed as I called him by his first name. I guessed that he hated it when strangers did so. He was the type of person that didn't like anybody knowing too much about him.

This girl is better than I thought. But she's still no match for me, even if she does have another Blue Eyes. Hmm… what have I got here? Perfect! A Sword Stalker. He'll do for now. I will put my Spellbinding Circle down as a trap too.

"I place one card face down, and I summon my mighty Sword Stalker to the field in attack mode! Sword Stalker, attack whatever monster is hiding in that spineless forest of hers!"

"Tsk, tsk, Kaiba. I really thought you'd watch out for mistakes like these. Activate magic card, Swords of Revealing Light!" I cried.

"No! Not that!" Kaiba once again shielded himself from the swords which darted around him and his SwordStalker. I smiled, how much easier could this get?

"You might as well hand over your star chip now, Kaiba. This isn't much of a challenge."

"You're no match for me. This duel isn't over yet! Remember I'm the owner of a Blue Eyes White Dragon. It's only a matter of time before I draw him." he snapped.

I rolled my eyes. "You don't have to tell me twice, Kaiba. Now make your move, not that there's a lot you can do." I burst out into a fit of manical laughter. I couldn't help it. I was winning this duel all too easily.

"Alright! I draw the magic card, De-spell! That removes your Swords of Revealing Light from me, so I can attack you once more! Now my mighty Sword Stalker, attack her monster!"

Damn. He's got me this time. My Mystical Elf was destroyed. But not to worry, I still had plenty more rare cards to play up my sleeve. Kaiba was simply getting his revenge. It was about time he showed some initiative. He had an unusual strategy that even I couldn't figure out. What was he playing at?

If I play Giant Trunade then all magic and trap cards go back to our hands, which means my Spellbinding Circle goes back to my hand. But it will get rid of her Mystical Forest card so I can see all her monsters. For all I know she could be hiding her Blue Eyes in there! I might play Giant Trunade to end my turn. "I'm not finished yet. Now I will play my Giant Trunade. Rid the field of the Mystical Forest!"

My Mystical Forest evaporated into thin air; leaving me with nothing on the field to protect myself. At least it was my turn. I drew a card, the Book of Secret Arts. That would work well with my Dark Magician Girl. She would get a power boost by reading the Book of Secret Arts and would therefore be able to wipe out Kaiba's SwordStalker.

"I summon my Dark Magician Girl to the field in attack mode, and place one card face down. That ends my turn."

Kaiba smirked across the field at me. "Nice try, but your fairy is still not strong enough to wipe out my Sword Stalker. Sword Stalker, attack her Dark Magician Girl! Destroy her!"

That's it Kaiba… take the bait… "Hold it right there! I activate the magic card, Book of Secret Arts! Dark Magician Girl, power boost!"

My Dark Magician Girl flicked through the pages of the Book of Secret Arts, and her attack and defense points went up by 300. "Now Dark Magician Girl! Wipe out his Sword Stalker with your dark magic attack!"

My Dark Magician Girl smiled and winked at Kaiba before destroying his Sword Stalker. His life points were already down to 1300 from 3000. Mine were at 1550. My Book of Secret Arts disappeared from the field as my Dark Magician Girl remained unharmed. Kaiba's life points went down to 1200.

"Scared yet?" I coaxed.

"Never! It's my turn. I summon… my Battle Ox, in defense mode! I will also place a card face down. That ends my turn."

He's playing a weak monster when I have my Dark Magician Girl on the field in attack mode that could easily wipe him out. He must have something planned with that face down card of his. I drew a card. My Toon Mermaid. Excellent, now I could activate my Toon World magic card to trigger my Toon Mermaid. However, I had to give up 500 life points each time she attacks. He won't be able to resist attacking since my Toon Mermaid is weaker than his Battle Ox, so I will put my Mirror Force card down. But just to make sure, I'll also put my De-spell magic card down to counter any of his plans with it.

"I will activate my magic card Toon World so I can summon my monster, Toon Mermaid. Next I place two cards face down. Your turn." I looked around me only to find that we had a couple of spectators. They were all staring in awe at my wonderful monsters that they obviously hadn't seen before. Toon World and its Toon Monsters were a new thing. I only knew of one other who possessed these cards - Pegasus himself.

What has she got hiding…? What on Earth are Toon World monsters? I've never heard of them… I must know more about them! I will attack and see the results of these Toon Monsters. After all, Battle Ox isn't important. I have something else in my deck that I will draw shortly that is much more powerful… but first I will put my Spellbinding Circle on her Toon Mermaid…

"I activate… Spellbinding Circle! Spellbinding Circle, attach yourself to the Toon Mermaid now!"

I knew it. "Uh, uh, uh! Activate magic card De-spell! You weren't the only one who had a De-spell card in your deck, Kaiba." I chided. His Spellbinding Circle was destroyed.

I should have known she'd have something like that up her sleeve. Not that it matters… she'll be in for the shock of her life once she knows what I've got coming up in my deck…I MUST draw my Blue Eyes before she draws hers! I will still attack her Toon Mermaid, now, though.

"Battle Ox! Attack Toon Mermaid now!"

"Activate Mirror Force! Your attack reflected on my Mirror Force card and redirected to your Battle Ox, destroying itself!" I shouted. I heard the gradually-growing crowd of spectators cheer. The time was almost two o'clock in the morning. "It's my go, and since you don't have anything on the field to protect your life points, I'm going to give you a direct hit! Toon Mermaid! Attack his life points directly!" My Mermaid giggled from inside her clamshell and aimed her fire at Kaiba, sending his life points plummeting to 900. Since I asked my Toon Mermaid to attack, I lost 500 life points myself, making my life points suffer to 1050.

I watched Kaiba grin as he drew his next card. A mocking smile plastered all over his face. He began to laugh.

"I now play, Card Destruction! This card requires both players to discard their hands. So do it!" He commanded.

I raised an eyebrow ironically. "Very well." This will only bring me closer to drawing my most precious card… YES! Victory will soon be mine…

"It is my go Kaiba… prepare to meet the end. BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON, SHOW YOURSELF!" I cried. Much to my surprise, Kaiba grinned. He also summoned his Blue Eyes White Dragon to the field. If they went head to head, they would destroy each other and our life points would both reach zero immediately. I couldn't let him attack, for I had no magic or trap cards in my hand. Well, ones that were of no value. Even if he does attack, my dragon would withstand it. If they attacked each other at the same time, all hell will break loose! We could be rendered unconscious from the impact on our life points! I have no choice. I have to do this. It is no trouble gaining my last star chip off of another duelist.

"BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON, ATTACK WITH WHITE LIGHTENING NOW!!!" Kaiba and I both cried in unison. Our Dragons pierced the sky with their trademark cries and obliterated each other. The lightening escaping their mouths blinded and deafened us and the whole crowd for a split second. The horrendous impact send me straight to the ground in a heap; into a world of darkness.

I woke shortly after to a whole lot of cheering and unnecessary yahooing. Water gurgled in my throat as my body lay unconventionally on the smooth, cold sand. I sat up quickly and spat out some water which was lodged in my throat, threatening to choke me. A hand supported me from falling back down on the ground again. It was the hand of Seto Kaiba.

"What are you doing, Kaiba? Let go of me I'm alright!" I cried, shaking his hold on me.

"Get to your feet. I want to congratulate you. You are a very elite duelist. If you weren't the owner of another Blue Eyes I would have wiped the floor with you." Kaiba smirked.

I glowered at him. "Get fucked, Kaiba. We drew. You know very well that my strategy beat yours fair and square."

"You do have a good strategy, I admit. I will ask for your name once more. Who are you? And where have I seen you before?"

I stood up and brushed myself down. My deck was still in the duel disk around my arm, thankfully. I noticed we were still encircled by a small group of people. Kaiba shoved his hands into his purple coat pockets.

"I am Leiko Toya. We met once briefly at your Elite Duelist Meeting at your company back in Domino once." I heard the audience whisper my name and chatter amongst themselves. Suddenly a kid about fourteen years old ran up to me and pulled on my shoulder.

"Miss! What are those monsters you were playing before? They were awesome! I've never seen them before!"

Kaiba switched his gaze from the boy back to me. "Yes. What were those `toon monsters' that you were playing, Leiko?"

"They are called Toon Monsters, and if you plan on dueling Pegasus or myself any time soon I suggest you shape up your deck. Toon Monsters might look cute, but they are very powerful and dangerous. They were not issued to the public because of their strength. Beware, everyone, Pegasus J. Crawford is the second owner of these types of cards, and believe me, he will have no mercy on you by playing them in the finals, if you make it that far." I said, speaking for everyone who was listening.

"Do you have any other Toon Monster cards?" A girl asked from the audience.

"Yes. I own the Blue Eyes Toon Dragon, the Toon Summoned Skull and the Toon Alligator. Now if you'll all excuse me, I must get some rest. I plan on making it to the castle by tomorrow afternoon." I took my deck out of the duel disk device and walked back to where the dying out embers of the fire rested. I took my drink bottle from my bag and sat down in front of a log, resting against it.

Kaiba came and sat beside me. "May I see the Blue Eyes Toon Dragon?"

"I suppose." I sifted through my deck and found the card he requested. He went bug-eyed as he saw the attack and defense points of it.

"This card has the same attack and defense points as a regular Blue Eyes White Dragon! This card is like a cheat of the real thing!"

I chuckled. "Not really. It's just handy if you plan on using your real Blue Eyes, but if you draw Toon World first then you can use your Blue Eyes Toon Dragon instead. They are equally as powerful."

"Incredible… how did you manage to get hold of these cards? You said it yourself that they weren't issued to the public."

I sighed. "Well, to cut a long story short, once I found out about the Duelist Kingdom Tournament, I emailed Pegasus and challenged him to a duel. He brought me inside my television with the video tape he sent me, like he did with Yugi Motou, and timed the duel for fifteen minutes. If I won, I was able to have three Toon Monster cards which I desired plus the Toon World magic card to summon them. If he won, he got to take the soul of my younger brother, like he did with yours."

Kaiba lowered his head to the ground. "If I don't get to that Castle before anyone else, I will never get Mokuba back. Never." He tilted his head and faced the sky and heaved a huge sigh.

I began to roll up another cigarette. "Pegasus is a bastard, Kaiba. We all know that. He took Motou's grandpa, he took your brother and he could have taken mine too." I put the cigarette in my mouth and lit it with my Zippo lighter.

Kaiba reached into his briefcase and put a tailor-made cigarette between his lips. I threw him my Zippo. "Catch."

He caught it with one hand and flicked it open, lighting the stick of tobacco and taking a puff. It came back out through his nose. "If you've already bet Pegasus without your Toon Monsters then you're bound to be successful against him in the finals." The grey smoke disappeared into the sky as I exhaled it.

"I know." After that, a refrained silence hung in the air, until Kaiba spoke up

"So, are you traveling alone through Duelist Kingdom too?" Kaiba asked as he slouched down in front of the log we were leaning against. He wrapped his coat around himself tighter, pulling the collar up so I could only see his eyes from the side.

"Yes. I don't have time for anyone but myself."

"And your family?" He asked, sucking in another puff.

"My brother and grandfather are at home. My parents live elsewhere."

"Where is `elsewhere'?"

"They are both paramedics. They work around the globe in third world countries like India and the Congo in Africa. They are rarely home."

"At least you have parents."

"I'd rather not discuss them. Now Kaiba, I can get up and leave now and continue my journey, or I can stay here and help you get Mokuba back. Which would you prefer?"

He shot me an odd look and avoided my gaze by looking back out to the calming sea. "Do what you wish."

I looked at my watch. "Well, since it's almost quarter to three in the morning, I'd rather stay here. I can leave at dawn if you want to continue traveling alone."

"Whatever. Just don't wake me." He turned over and put his head against his briefcase and closed his eyes.

I flicked my cigarette butt away. "Alright then. Goodnight, Seto."

"Don't call me that."
