~*~Kaiba's POV…~*~
====================
I couldn't wait any longer. I sent my chauffeur out ten minutes early to go and pick up Leiko. Besides, people were already arriving so it wouldn't look especially obvious as to why I wanted her here early. Mai Kujaku arrived and came to greet me in an overly explicit black dress. I merely brushed her off. She was not the female I was especially looking forward to seeing.
I heard a car roll up the driveway. That was probably her now. I idled about quietly in my entrance hall in my black tuxedo that I had only worn a couple of times on special occasions. A few more duelists arrived and then in walked my princess, looking sinfully good in a fiery red dress. I felt a throb in my crotch as my eyes drifted to her cleavage… something I hadn't seen in Duelist Kingdom. I had to contain myself from whimpering ever so slightly as she advanced on me. She had a red choker and wrist cuff on, and a small ruby red purse dangled from her other hand. She had me completely entranced.
I took her hand. "You look ravishing."
"As do you, Seto."
I sighed internally. "I love it when you call me that."
She cocked her head to the side slightly, curiously. "Why?"
"Because you're the only girl that ever has - with my permission."
She smiled and took my arm. We walked into the dining hall where everyone else was gathered and got a glass of champagne. A few duelists that I hadn't seen enter were standing around chatting. I recognized a few - Weevil Underwood, Bandit Keith, Yugi Motou, and even Jounouchi Katsuya, that mutt. Hey… how did those other morons slip past my guards? Motou soon noticed the stunning girl in red which was on my arm and came over to talk to her.
"Hey Leiko! I knew you'd be here!" The brunette girl followed closely behind. "Hi Kaiba." He added timidly.
Leiko shifted somewhat nervously. "Um, hi Yugi."
"You look nice in that dress." He said gently. The girl next to him snorted. I fastened my grip around her arm.
"Thanks Yugi. So do you. You too Anzu."
The girl looked surprised, and reeled slightly. I found it surprising that Leiko would comment so nicely about someone she knew little about. However, she complimented me too. That surprised me.
"If you'll excuse me a moment, Yugi. Um… Seto, would you like to join me outside for a cigarette?" She asked.
"I'd be glad to." We sailed out through the dining hall, and Leiko found herself having to hold her dress up off the ground. I had never felt so proud in my life - I felt somewhat… complete, with her around.
The night was falling dark as we sat on a garden bench near a bed of roses and my lily pond. The only sound heard was the splashing of water as the fountain worked its watery magic. She took her tobacco pouch out of her purse and put a filter tip between her perfectly red-sheen lips. Her thick lashes were laced with dark navy mascara, and it set off her whole face. I pulled my eyes off of her and began to roll up my own cigarette.
~*~Leiko's POV…~*~
===================
Seto licked the paper of his freshly rolled cigarette and put it between his lips. He shielded his lighter with his hand as he lit up his cigarette. The glow of the flame lit up his face, giving him a special sort of radiance. His chestnut locks blew in the wind, and I found myself attracted to him in an instant. There was no denying that I thought he was handsome in Duelist Kingdom… but tonight… seeing him in a sleek black suit with a navy satin shirt underneath, unbuttoned just enough to tease, and smelling his masculine scent… it all seemed to open up a whole new world for me.
I lit up my cigarette and inhaled my death. But it felt so good… this felt like a dream. Just this ordinary dream… where I would be wearing a red dress sitting next to a strikingly handsome man…it sounds rather cliché, doesn't it? But I had to believe it… it's happening. To me. Me. Right here, right now.
"Your garden is beautiful, Seto."
"I think so too. Though I rarely get the time to enjoy it."
I took another drag of my cigarette and sat there mildly taking in the surroundings. "You can enjoy it tonight, then."
"I can enjoy more than just my garden with you here." He flashed his brilliant imperial blue eyes at me. I looked quickly away and took another drag of my cigarette. The smoke he exhaled blew across my face in the cool easterly breeze. I looked across at him when I thought he wasn't looking - but he was. A cherry hue underlay his fair exterior, but he continued to gaze at me gravely.
Feeling his eyes upon me set every inch of my body aflame, and I found myself needing to stand, to let the icy bite of the wind grab hold of me to shake me out of this trance. But I stayed sitting on the stone garden bench next to him, withstanding this invisible, oblivious passion. This was different to being alone with Kaiba in Duelist Kingdom. There was a type of mood hanging in the air that I hadn't ever experienced before - especially around a man as handsome as Seto Kaiba.
"Leiko… do you mind if I - " He faltered.
"Mind if you…?"
"If I touch you… just once." His husky voice made me shiver unnoticeably.
I looked into the deep blue lakes that reflected my own eyes. I parted my lips, about to reply his question, when he brushed my cheek with his fingers. I clasped his hand in mine and pressed it closer to my cheek. He smiled and sighed a little.
"You've grown on me, Leiko."
"I noticed."
The shimmering blue pools staring at me seemed to have some sort of mesmerizing effect on me. I found it impossible to tear my gaze away from them. Seto stroked my cheek gingerly with his fingertips. My body flushed with each tender stroke and before I knew it I felt the bristle of his unshaven upper lip brush over my lips. Our lips had barely touched before we heard a little voice calling Seto's name.
"Seto! Seto! Oh… um, sorry…" Mokuba apologized as he saw our situation - Seto's hands on my waist and my arms around his shoulders, sitting close together.
"What is it Mokuba?" Seto asked as he took his hands off of me.
"Um… there's this woman here to see you… she's scary Seto! I don't know who she is…"
~*~ Seto's POV… ~*~
==================
Who is this woman that Mokuba is talking about? He wouldn't lie to me. I had better go back to the mansion and see who has arrived. She must have been uninvited - or else she is a duelist which I had no knowledge of.
I linked arms with Leiko once more and we went back to the house. Mokuba took my other hand and tugged on it so I would walk faster. I held back to my own pace.
"What did this woman say to you, Mokuba?" I asked.
"Nothing really, she came in with a whole lot of goons in a long black car and asked for you. She's smoking inside, by the way. I told her to stop it but she just laughed and told me to go and get you."
I frowned and snorted. What nerve! Nobody talks to my baby brother that way. "It's okay Mokuba. I'll deal with her. You go and… talk to Yugi or something."
"Okay." Mokuba ran off, his raven mane following behind.
Leiko and I walked into the dining room where the other duelists were quite happily chatting and taking advantage of the beverages. In the entrance hall I saw a pale woman in a gothic black dress, holding a cigarette to her scarlet lips. Her skin was white - white. She is hideous in my eyes, while other males in my dining hall are standing, gaping at her. She is young, and I do not recognize her. Behind her are two sturdy men in black suits. They remind me of Pegasus' thugs. Leiko tightened her grip on my arm as we advanced on the intruder. I could tell this woman was threatening Leiko obliviously.
"Ah… well if it isn't Seto Kaiba himself! How are you, sweet thing?" She smiled maliciously at me. Leiko narrowed her gaze at her.
"Who are you and what right do you have here? This is private property!" I hissed.
She looked taken aback. "Do you not recognize me, my love? Why it is I - Suki Yashaki, from Merivale."
***** Seto's Flashback *****
"Haha! I got your toy plane and there's nothing you can do about it!" A girl with black plaits ran away from me with my toy aeroplane.
"Come back here with my aeroplane Suki!" I scream, and run after her.
Mokuba stands helplessly watching me as I cannot defend myself. It is usually I that defends him in times like these. Suki disappeared into the schoolyard in the snow where I could not see her. All the other boys and girls were playing together. I keep running and got tripped up by someone.
"Haha! Stupid Seto! Watch where you're going next time!" A spiteful schoolyard bully named Jin laughed and pointed at me face-down in the snow.
A teacher came to my side and picked me up to my feet. I wiped the tears off my face and looked up at the woman's calm face. She asked me what happened. I told her. She took my hand and we walked over to where Suki had my toy aeroplane, and was laughing with all the other bullies.
"Suki, give Seto back his toy aeroplane." The woman said sternly. Suki poked her tongue out at me and threw my aeroplane back at me, hitting me in the side of the head with it. The woman holding my hand was shouting now. "No Suki! That's not how you play nice with other children! Come with me now and you'll be getting five spankings missy." The woman grabbed hold of Suki's arm and took her into the main orphanage building, kicking and screaming.
"This isn't over yet, Seto!" She screamed. Mokuba came to my side. He hugged me. The other children began laughing again.
***** End of Flashback *****
I curled my lip into a malicious sneer. This woman made me lose sleep in the orphanage when we were children. She was my main bully - the only girl in the orphanage that had no other female friends. Her only schoolmates were the other boys - the bullies. She herself had become one. She loved picking on me. I seemed to be her main target. I wished every night that I would be adopted the next day. This woman made my childhood a living nightmare. Everything she did wrong would be blamed on me, and then she would pick on me even more after I had taken my punishing. The only time she ever made me smile was when she was dragged into the orphanage by one of the adults.
"My… what a handsome thing you've grown to be…" She came over to me, trying to seduce me. This ferocious little terror from my childhood had turned into an absolute monster - and I'm not only talking about her vile personality.
"What do you want Suki? I have nothing here you want so I suggest you leave."
"Well, I should be on my way anyway. I just thought I'd drop by… lovely place you have here, Seto."
"Don't you dare call me that, you spiteful wench! Get out of my sight!" I lost the plot - completely. Just hearing her name made me explode with a surge of frustration and hatred inside of me. My perfect evening with Leiko was ruined.
"It was good seeing you, Seto… and you too, must be Seto's new lapdog, hmm?" She sneered at Leiko.
"Get out of here you repulsive witch." Leiko spat.
Suki laughed. "Very well then. Come on boys, our little visit is over now." The thugs followed her out of my mansion. I felt a nudge on my side.
"Who was that?" Leiko asked in a venomous tone. She was still scowling at the exit that Suki had made.
"Nevermind… forget her. Come, let's have a dance." I replied as I noticed people on the dancefloor in the next room. My pianist, Leo was playing a melody on the piano. I noticed Motou was dancing with the brunette girl - they looked ridiculous in height comparison. Jounouchi and his idiot friend, who was male might I point out, were dancing like lunatics - together. I was near ready to throw them out.
Leiko and I made our way to the ball room and onto the floor. I was made to take dance lessons at the orphanage when I was young as an extra curricular activity, so it was nothing new to me. I rarely had time to use my ball room, but Mokuba and I would always dance our asses off when we had nothing better to do. It was fun.
"I never knew you danced, Seto." Leiko said as she put her arm on my shoulder and her opposite hand slipped into mine. I slid my hand around her waist and pulled her close, bearing in mind she had a long dress on and not to stand on it and make a fool out of myself.
"I don't. When I was younger I did for a few years. Mokuba makes me dance with him sometimes, but not like this." I chuckled at the memory of Mokuba and I dancing rock `n' roll style a few months ago when we got snowed in and couldn't leave the house.
"My grandfather and I like to dance to Frank Senatra sometimes. He was awfully good in his day."
"I suppose you'd be a natural anyway… with that incredible body of yours."
She blushed at my comment and looked toward the floor. I smiled. We swayed gently to the music, and I spun her around and out in front of me in the chorus of the song. She looked like a firestorm as she spun around, her orange-red dress swirling around her like a huge ripened cherry. Everyone in the room was looking at her, especially me.
~*~ Leiko's POV… ~*~
=================
I was the centre of attention. Everyone in the ballroom was staring awe-struck at me. My dress, mainly. But the fact that I was the one dancing with Seto Kaiba made me feel like Cinderella. Every other girl in the hall was turning green with envy, it seemed. Seto spun me out at an astonishing speed in front of him that it made me feel slightly dizzy, but I spun right back into his embrace. We glided across the dancefloor with such grace it felt as if we were floating. Seto twirled me around and I saw him wearing a huge smile on his face - he was even showing his teeth, which I hadn't seen before. His smile was immaculate. My world and head alike were spinning from the motions he was pulling me in and out of, but each time I came crashing back into his chest laughing.
We settled down as a slower song began playing and we were back to gently swaying. I rested my head on the crook of his shoulder and neck and sighed. I knew better than to get caught up in the moment though - everything would return to normal tomorrow. I would be at dance training at nine tomorrow morning and start my six hour shift at the bar again at five. We had so much in common and we seemed to… understand one another.
The end of the night came around quicker than expected. I was having such a ball of a time it was hard to believe where the time had gone. Mokuba was lying on the couch asleep in Seto's living room. Most of the duelists had left by now. Yugi and Jounouchi had said goodbye to me before they left. I really should be going myself.
"Seto… I think someone needs to be put to bed." I said, smiling down at the raven-haired boy who was asleep, breathing heavily.
"Hmm…" Seto looked down at his brother and slipped his arms underneath the unconscious body. Mokuba groaned slightly as his head hit his brother's shoulder when Seto picked him up.
"I'll just take him to bed. Make yourself comfortable." Seto said to me. I nodded as he exited the room.
Seto's house was more like a palace than a… house. I was very impressed. I would say that just the lily pond outside would have cost at least $400,000 to build. The house was supported by gigantic marble pillars and there were ornaments and hi-tech bits and pieces everywhere. This place was nowhere near like my grandfather's house. Seto came back into the living room where I was sitting on his black leather couch. He sat on the couch opposite me with a small glass coffee table in between. It seemed neither of us knew really what to say.
"I guess I should be going, Seto. I had a great night, though."
He frowned. "So soon?"
"Yeah… I have dance practice tomorrow at nine."
He nodded. "I see. Are you sure you wouldn't like a glass of wine before you go?"
"Hmmm… no I think I'll be okay, thanks."
"Go on. You know you want to."
"Are you threatening me to stay?" I smiled. He grinned back at me.
"Maybe." He teased.
"I guess one more wouldn't hurt."
We got up and went through to the dining hall and Seto pulled out a bottle of champagne from a bucket of ice and poured us each a glass. My mind drifted back to earlier in the night when our lips brushed over each other's so softly and quickly. If only Mokuba hadn't interrupted us…
"Uh, Seto, about before…" I said.
"Mm?"
"I don't know if we should have - "
"Why not?" He questioned as he sipped on his glass of wine.
"Well… I don't know… there have been so many rumours about us."
"Such as?"
"People think we fucked while we were in Duelist Kingdom."
Kaiba raised an eyebrow. "Well that's… crass."
"It makes me wonder why people bother."
"I think I have the answer." Kaiba said.
"And what is that?"
He put down his glass on the table and moved a little closer to me, putting his hands on my hips as he had done while we were dancing. My heart felt as if it was about to leap up out of my throat and grow legs and run away. Kaiba smiled and pushed back one of my curls which hung over my eyes. I was reliving the moment earlier in the night. He ran his fingers along my still-bruised collarbone. I flinched.
"You never told me how you got these bruises."
"It doesn't matter. Anyway how is it your business?" I felt a little rude for saying that, but being arrogant was in my nature.
"If someone hurt you then it's my business."
"How?"
"Because I will personally kick their ass for touching you."
"Why?"
"Because I care about you more than I should. Hence what happened previously tonight." He replied, and sort of blushed.
I put my arms around his neck and sighed, looking at my feet, which were concealed beneath my dress. "I like you too, Seto. But I know everything will go back to normal tomorrow. Tonight was just a one-off get-together."
"Are you trying to tell me that my feelings for you aren't real?" He demanded.
"No, that's not what I meant. I just want to know if it will work between us. I mean you are so busy with your company and the only person you have time for is Mokuba."
"That's not entirely true… why don't we at least try?"
"Well if you're willing then I am." I replied.
"Good. So now can I kiss you?" He asked, his fingers twirling around the blue curl that fell to the side of my face.
I nodded and felt my cheeks redden. I closed my eyes and waited for the sultry taste of him on my lips. He didn't waste any time, as he never usually did with other things, and slipped his tongue inside my mouth. I parted my lips as our tongues brushed over each other and our lips crashed together softly. He was incredible at it---put it that way. He moaned into me and I found myself struggling not to sigh also. Seto Kaiba was my very first kiss.
I could already tell that Yukiko would be bouncing off the walls by the time I told her that Seto Kaiba was my… boyfriend? I would never have dreamed that a simple duel against my rival would lead to something of this extreme level. Seto pulled me closer into him and I felt something warm against my crotch through my dress---he was quite clearly aroused. Once satisfied, he pulled back and we both breathed deeply.
"That was nice." I commented.
"I'll be enjoying more of those." Kaiba said, giggling a little.
"Yeah… me too." I smiled. "But now it's really late…" I looked at my gold dress-watch which read 2:43AM.
"I'll drop you home. Come with me."
I followed Seto out to a large building. He unlocked the door and switched on the light. Inside were rows of sparkling, flashy and expensive looking cars. Kaiba opened the garage door and unlocked an electric blue Lamborghini and backed out onto the driveway. I went out and he opened the passenger's side door for me. I hopped in.
"You know I might consider investing in one of these." I said as I ran my hands along the smooth leather seat.
"With that prize money you could have whatever car you want; that is less than three million yen, that is." Seto said as he changed gears.
We reached my grandfather's house after about ten or fifteen minutes of driving through the still night. We pulled up outside my house at three o'clock that morning - six hours until I had to be at dance practice.
"Will I see you tomorrow?" Seto asked.
"I don't know. I have dance practice from nine until two and then I have work at five. I suppose we could see each other in between."
He nodded. "I'll pick you up from the studio at two."
I cocked my head to the side. "If you insist."
"Perhaps we could buy you a car tomorrow."
I smiled. "Good idea… I'd love to see the expression on my boss's face if I pull up outside work in a car as flash as this." I laughed.
Seto smiled slightly. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow Leiko." He leant over and kissed me on the lips.
"Goodnight Seto. Thanks for tonight." I stepped out of the car and onto the pavement.
He nodded. "See you tomorrow."
I began to walk back to the gate which led through the garden and up to the house. Seto idled for a minute before taking off. I turned to have one last look at him inside his immaculate blue car. Right then and there, he floored it.
