Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Cecilia's Wish ❯ Danger of the book ( Chapter 1 )
My wedding day has been set. I had asked Ishizu to be my matron of honor and she agreed. My wedding was going to be the talk of the town, or so Maxmillion said. All I had to do was find my dress and accessories, choose the style of dresses I wanted my bridal party to wear and choose the flowers. He'd hired a wedding planner to take care of everything else.
As my wedding grew closer, Ishizu's warning loomed over me. I couldn't bear to tell Maxmillion that I couldn't get pregnant. It was our dream to have children. He wanted a daughter who looked like me and I dreamed of having a son who looked like him. Alas, this couldn't happen. I vow to you journal, that I'll never tell him the true reason I cannot give him a child. Journal, If I ever do get pregnant and die as a result, I vow that Maxmillion will NEVER know about the child. Ishizu will keep my secret.
Ishizu had given me a gift, a item called the Millenium Ring. She said that if I was ever to become pregnant, that I was go give the item to the child. So she knew I still intended to get pregnant. What she couldn't guess, I was already pregnant. I found out three days before my wedding that I was three months along.

Tea gasped. She looked up at the clock. It had been hours since Yugi had left, and if she called him, she was likely to wake both him and his Grandpa. This couldn't wait till morning though. She dialed the phone and after a few rings, Yugi sleepily answered the phone.
"Hello? Tea, It's three in the morning…What's wrong?" Yugi sounded sleepy, and a bit upset.
"Yugi, I was reading more of that book. Cecilia deceived Pegasus. She knew the true reasons she couldn't give him a child and kept it from him. Not only that, that Ishizu lady knew it. Oh, This could really devastate him. I read that Ishizu gave Cecilia a Millenium Item. The Millenium Ring."
"You mean…" Yugi started then gasped. "Bakura!"
Tea heard a crash as Yugi dropped the phone on the floor. When she heard Yugi pick it up, it wasn't Yugi's voice that answered. It was Yami's.
"Tea, I'm on my way over! This is serious!"
Tea paced by her window until she heard a scratching sound at it. She pulled the shade back and unlocked it, then opened it. Yami stepped into the room.
"Then it's true, Tea. I sensed a connection between Pegasus and Bakura, but I thought that it was because they shared Millenium Items. This puts a whole new wrinkle in my search for Pegasus's item." Yami sat on Tea's bed and picked up the book. He read the pages that Tea had just read then set the book back down.
"Tea I am going to tell you something. Yugi doesn't even know this. I fear that the spirit of Bakura's ring knows things that he isn't sharing. The first Item he went after outright was Pegasus's Eye. Tristian told us all that he pitched that ring into the unknown while we were on Pegasus's island. He is still controlled by it. I also fear that this book will place YOU in danger. Where did you get it."
It was Tea's turn to gasp. She didn't know where the book had come from, it had just appeared in her locker one day. Yami couldn't know that.
"I…I uh got it at the book store near the card shop." For the first time since she'd met Yugi, and Yami for that matter, she lied to him.
Yami stood and walked over to Tea and took her hands in his. "Tea, please don't lie to me. I cannot protect you if I don't know how you got this book."
Tea blinked back tears. I can't cry.. I wont cry. She looked down at the floor as her tears slid down her face. Yami pulled her into a hug. He knew she was scared to tell him that the book had just appeared. He knew that she also was keeping secrets she'd learned in the book away from Yugi. He led her over to her bed and sat her down, then he sad down beside her, never breaking his hold on her. Her body shook with silent sobs. Yami's heart felt like it would break. He'd rarely seen Tea this upset. He held her tightly as she continued to cry. When he sensed her tears subsiding, he spoke.
"Tea, I don't want to see you hurting, please, tell me how you got the book. I'm not going to take it from you, you know that."
Tea looked up finally; she saw the sincerity in Yami's eyes. She sensed how strongly he cared not only for Yugi's safety but hers as well.
"About three days ago, it just appeared in my locker. It wasn't there before my last class, but when I went to put my books up to go home, it was there. I don't know how it got there, only Yugi knows my combination." Tea turned away from Yami, she felt embarrassed to have cried in front of him. She became aware that he was still holding her and laid her head on his shoulder as she continued her story. "I'm not even sure that the book is talking about Bakura at all. It said in the preface that Bakura is Pegasus's son, but I don't understand why it's even out at all. Why would Pegasus just hand his wife's private journal over to some writer without reading it himself?"
She felt Yami sigh, as if he was thinking about what she'd just said. She thought to herself that maybe Pegasus respected his late wife's wishes that he not read the journal. Then why would he have it published for the whole world to read? After Yami told her that now her life might be in danger, she didn't feel safe at home. Her parents had gone out of town to be with her grandmother who was having surgery. They would be gone for two weeks. The phone rang, causing them both to jump. Tea picked it up.
"Hello. Oh, Hi mom. Yes, I am alright." Tea made a face. Her mom was calling because a neighbor had seen Yugi climbing into Tea's bedroom window. She quickly thought of an answer. "I heard a sound and called Yugi. He came over to investigate. I had him come through the window because I heard the sound inside, downstairs… yes. Uh huh. Yeah, well he didn't find anything, but he's going to call his Grandpa and see if I can stay with them. Yeah. His Grandpa was worried about me last night. Okay. I'll have him call you in the morning. Bye mom, I love you."
"Nosey Mrs. Allison called mom and told her she saw you coming in the window. Mom understood what I told her and that you were right to do that." Tea smiled at Yami.
"Tea, I can understand your reasoning, but now we'll have to tell Yugi's grandfather what your reason for us leaving at 3 am. I also think it would be very wise for you to stay with us. Yugi agrees with me. You are in danger here. To make your story legit, I'll search the house. Pack your stuff while I'm gone."
Tea sensed that he looked around for Tea's made up sound. She knew that there was two reasons behind it: one so she could pack her personal stuff privately, and two to make her story to her mom true. Tea looked up at the window and screamed. There was a face peering through the glass at her. Yami stormed into the room and Tea pointed to the window. Yami bolted across the room in time to see someone running up the street. He was right. Tea was in danger, Grave Danger!
Yami helped Tea pack a few week's worth clothes and things then went into her bathroom to gather her makeup and stuff in there while she packed her things she didn't want him seeing. Yami looked into the mirror and saw Yugi looking back at him.
"Yami, she's very frightened now." Yugi looked close to tears, as close as Yami felt. "I know she'll feel safe with you, so we'll switch when we get back to Grandpa's, but I will have to switch here long enough to use the phone to tell Grandpa that she is coming home with me." Yami closed his eyes, and traded places with Yugi.
Yugi came out of Tea's bathroom holding her bag. Wordlessly she took it from him and pointed to the phone. Her hand was shaking. Yugi dialed the phone and waited till his Grandfather picked up.
"Grandpa, I'm at Tea's. You were right to be worried. Yes that was she that called, she heard a sound and it scared her. We are getting ready to leave now…uh-huh. Yeah, I think she'd like that. Thanks Grandpa. See you in a when you get here." Yugi hung up the phone and turned to Tea.
"Grandpa said to get your blankets together, too. He's driving over here to get us. He knew it was you when you called, but left me to answer it. He thought that you were just calling about that homework assignment. If he thought it about that noise, he'd have picked up."
Tea became aware that not only what she'd read had taken her attention from the book, but also a very distinct noise from downstairs had really drawn it.
"Tea, I know you thought it was only the book that you called about, but I could hear fear in your voice, and so did Yami. That's why we switched and he came over." Yugi looked at Tea and reached out for her hand. They shared a few moments of silence before they heard a car driving up the street. Tea quickly folded her blankets and stacked them. Yugi carried them downstairs and into his Grandfather's car. Then he helped Tea carry her suitcase, book bag, and overnight bag. He loaded the stuff into the car as she locked the house. Yugi handed her purse to her, and they got in the car and drove off.
At Yugi's, Tea, Yugi and Grandpa sat around the table drinking hot chocolate. Grandpa had stayed quiet, letting Tea have some time to compose herself. While Tea put her stuff in Yugi's room, Yugi and his Grandpa had a talk.
"Yugi, I know that Tea's been through a lot tonight, so for tonight only, stay with her. I am very concerned for her safety, as I know you are."
After Grandpa had gone back to bed, and Tea and Yugi sat in his room, Tea finally relaxed enough to feel how tired she was. Yugi sat on his bed and watched Tea sleep, fearing for her safety, he decided to let Yami watch over her. The last thing Tea saw before she fell fully asleep was Yami lying down beside her on the covers. She could have sworn she saw tears in his eyes.
