6) Two Plans
Summary: Yugi has a plan involving his Yami to help him to decide on his sexuality; Yami has a plan of his own involving Seto. <g>
By the time Yugi had closed the shop and had finished his homework and other chores, he had some sort of a plan in mind. [Hope this works and doesn't make a bigger mess of things,] he worried as he threw himself on his bed in his room and closed his eyes. [Here goes...]
A moment later, he opened his eyes. Glancing around, he could tell he was in his soul room instead of his real room. [It worked. Now, to get Yami in here...]
/Yami? Could you come here, please?/ he asked silently.
//Of course,// came the soft response. Then as Yugi stood up, his dark half entered the room.
[Here goes,] Yugi thought, secretly grinning. He abruptly launched himself at his other self, throwing his arms around his neck.
"Aibou!" Yami exclaimed, shocked at suddenly having his arms full of genki teenager. (genki = energetic and enthusiastic) "What are you... what...?"
"This is the only way I can hug you!" Yugi exclaimed, hugging the taller boy for all he was worth. "And I've got a big favor to ask of you!"
Taking a deep breath, Yami hugged his little partner back fervently, feeling a wash of love and tenderness pass through him. "Anything," he breathed. He'd stiffened at first contact, but now relaxed as he held Yugi in his arms, stunned at how wonderful he felt... and at the ache in his heart.
Yugi tightened his hold, then relaxed it a little so he could look up at him. "Yami, don't think I've gone weird on you or anything, but I need to ask you to do something for me and it's kinda strange... but I think I need help with something right now and there's no one else I can ask."
Yami blinked; he had no idea what his little other had in mind. "What is it, aibou? If I can help you, I will."
The boy in his arms blushed and ducked his eyes a little. "Well, you remember that I kissed Anzu on that date and that I said it was... well, odd? Anyway, so I may or may not be attracted to girls, but how can I tell if I'm attracted to boys? Unless I kiss one..." As his dark half's eyes widened significantly, Yugi rushed on to explain. "I mean, that might help me realize, right? Don't you think, Yami?"
"I...I suppose so..." Yami felt his mouth go dry.
Yugi brightened up. "So, it's not like I can easily find a boy to kiss, right? Therefore, I was wondering... would you kiss me, Yami? So I can feel what it's like?"
[Oh, dear Ra...] Yami thought, stunned. [My sweet little aibou... well, this is all my fault. I'm the one who said he should start dating! But to kiss this precious treasure... I must be sure that *I* can handle this as well. I can see how he'd feel I was safe for this little experiment, but is it safe for both our hearts? Oh, Yugi...]
Yami knew he was deeply attracted to Seto Kaiba. The differences between Seto - so tall and so mature, practically a man - and Yugi - diminutive, genki, and still so childlike - were immense. But he had a strong bond already with Yugi, one that ran deeper than either of them yet understood. [Seto, you will have to accept what he means to me...]
He took a deep breath before replying. "Yugi, I am honored that you've asked me this. Yes, I will do it. But are you sure?"
Yugi shifted so he could slip his arms tightly about the other's waist. "Yes, I'm sure, Yami." His heart began to beat faster. [He said yes!]
Yami pulled his aibou a little closer. "Close your eyes..."
When Yugi complied, tilting his chin up as well, Yami sighed a little, then bent to kiss him lightly on the mouth. For a few seconds, they merely pressed their lips together, then Yami heard his other's soft mental voice within his mind. /M...more?/
//All you want, little one,// Yami breathed into his mind, then slipped his tongue past soft, yielding lips. For a long moment as both held their breaths, Yami explored his little partner's mouth gently, even lovingly. Then, sighing deeply, he straightened as their mouths parted. [Such sweetness... I hope he didn't mind it too much...]
Yugi still had his eyes closed and finally remembered to breathe. [Wow! Okay, well I now know that Anzu had no idea how to kiss either. This was... this was..] Yugi felt very warm all of a sudden, yet couldn't help but snuggle closer. "Oh, Yami..." he sighed happily.
"Aibou... my light," Yami murmured, tightening his hold on his other self. "Are you all right?"
"Yeah... mmm..." Yugi practically purred. "So that was a kiss... a real one! And I think I just figured something out..."
[This is so nice... to just hold him. Even if just in the spirit realm like this, it's worth it,] Yami was thinking contentedly. "What's that, Yugi?"
"When you get down to it," Yugi murmured, nuzzling his face against his tall other's shoulder, "gender doesn't really matter. I don't think there's much difference between a girl's mouth and a boy's... just the face. Although you... your face is smooth."
Yami sighed. "Yes, well, because I am sustained by the magic of your Millennium Puzzle, I will not age. I do not know exactly how old I was when... when I was locked in the puzzle, but I believe I am arrested at that age, and I must not have had much of a beard then."
"I know you're older than me," Yugi whispered back. "Maybe something like eighteen?"
"I suppose," Yami replied. "So you really didn't mind the kiss?"
Yugi grinned. "No, it was great! Thanks, Yami!"
Now the spirit was confused. [So he *is* attracted to boys or doesn't it matter now? And how did that make *me* feel? I feel strongly drawn to Seto, yet I can't help but love my sweet little aibou. How would he feel now if I pursued a relationship with Seto? I can't just turn my back on Yugi... now or ever...]
Yugi sensed something odd from his darker half. He released his tight hold on him, remaining within his embrace, but loosely. "Yami, was it too weird kissing me? You seem... funny."
Yami looked down into the wide, wondering eyes. "It was delightful to kiss you, aibou," he responded gently. "I'm just not sure what to do now. You know that I have been thinking a lot about having a relationship with Seto Kaiba..."
"Oh, that!" Yugi exclaimed and grinned up at him. "I think you two will be good for each other! I know Kaiba-kun needs someone - while he seems so severe all the time, he also seems sad... and lonely. I want you to be with him, Yami! Don't worry about me."
Yami studied his lighter half intently. "Perhaps this is something we can share together, aibou."
"What?" Yugi's eyes popped. "Oh, geez, Yami, Kaiba doesn't want to be with me! Besides..." He dropped his gaze abruptly, blushing. "I don't really think..."
When the boy did not go on, the spirit gently prompted him. "You don't think what, Yugi?"
Yugi turned away slightly, hiding his eyes. "Being close to you is nice, and a bit of kissing is very nice, too. I like it a lot... but I don't think... I don't think I'm ready for... the rest. Just... not yet. But I want you to be happy, Yami. I want you to date Kaiba-kun."
Yami felt that little twinge in his heart again. "Are you sure, aibou?"
"You're your own person... even if you are a spirit sharing my body in the real world, Yami," Yugi replied softly. "Maybe you lived thousands of years ago in your own body, but right now you're alive in this time and you're sharing mine with me. That's how it is, and I'm okay with that. In fact, I'm proud to be your host."
Another twinge. Yami pulled the teenager back into his arms, nuzzling at his hair tenderly. "Thank you, aibou. You do honor me greatly as well. I love you, little one... my hikari."
"I love you, too, my Yami!" Yugi declared, hugging back hard.
A moment later, however, Yami was separating enough to cup the boy's chin in his hand, lifting his face to meet the spirit's gaze. "Yugi, I want you to understand something... and I think you already do. I love you very much, though... it's not exactly a romantic love. Not... quite." [At least not yet...]
Yugi sighed at the sweet touch to his face. "I know exactly what you mean, Yami. It's a lot more like being brothers, but it's a lot more than that at the same time, closer. Soulmates... but not exactly to be lovers. Am I making any sense?" [But maybe some day...]
"Perfect sense," Yami murmured, smiling briefly before bending to kiss him gently again.
The next day was Saturday. After another discussion with Yugi, Yami took over and put in a phone call to Seto Kaiba.
"Kaiba," was the tall duelist's only greeting.
"Seto, hello," Yami murmured, smiling a little. "Good. I was afraid that I'd get a secretary or security guard or something by calling this number." Yugi had given him a number which he'd gotten some time ago from Mokuba.
"It's an unlisted number," Seto replied, not entirely sure who he was talking to... then he realized. [Nobody calls me Seto except...] "Yami?!" [That voice...!]
"Yes, it's good to talk to you, Seto," Yami replied, relaxing. "I know it's been a little while."
"Yes, but it's good... to hear your voice," Seto breathed, hoping he didn't sound too anxious. After his chat with Yugi at lunch yesterday, he'd felt unsettled, odd, like something had just sifted through his fingers and he'd been unable to catch it. But if Yami was calling *him*...
"Seto," Yami continued smoothly, "I was wondering if you were doing anything this evening. I'd like to see you."
At first Seto couldn't speak as his mind processed the ancient spirit's words. [Is he... did he... did he just ask me out on a date?] "Yami," he breathed, "I... I'd like to see you, too..."
"Good," Yami replied, smirking. "Unfortunately, Yugi doesn't have a driver's license yet, so I suppose I'll have to use public transportation..." He paused, then continued as if speaking to himself. "Although I can't say I have a clue how that works..."
"Let me send my limo to pick you up," Seto quickly broke in. "Please. Then it can take us wherever you like."
"Very well," Yami responded, pleased. "I wasn't thinking of doing much, perhaps just dinner and... a walk?" Yugi had told him that the standard date fare was dinner and a movie, but Yami preferred to do something more simple. Besides, he was certain someone like Seto Kaiba probably had had private showings for himself and his brother of every movie he'd ever wanted to see. And given Yugi's allowance, "dinner" wasn't likely to be very elaborate either.
"That would be good," Seto murmured. "But I insist on paying."
"No, no, I couldn't allow that," Yami countered, frowning. "Seto, I believe I'm the one asking you out on a date, not the other way around."
Seto was thrilled to hear him state it so plainly as such. [That means he feels confident that both Yugi and Mokuba accept the changes in myself that I've been trying to make!] "Yami," he countered back, "I have more money than you've ever seen. Since you've asked me out, you choose where we will go. I will pay for everything. I will always pay. You must allow me."
When he heard the words "more money than you've ever seen", Yami got a strange flash of an image: gold, a huge vault filled with a horde of objects made of gold... a king's horde. [Where did that come from?] he wondered, but shrugged it off. "Seto..."
"I mean it, Yami," Seto stated firmly. "What good is all my money if I cannot use it to enjoy the company of someone I like? I insist."
Yami felt humbled, but understood. [I know it's unusual, but I have to admit he's right.] "Very well, Seto, I accede." He leafed through a listing of local restaurants which Yugi had given him. [I'll pick something moderate...] "Thank you."
"My pleasure," Seto answered smoothly. "What time shall the limo pick you up?"
"Six o'clock," Yami replied. "Dress casual. I'd like to go somewhere where we can be comfortable."
Seto frowned; he really wasn't a jeans and t-shirt sort of guy, not like Yugi's friend Jounouchi. "How comfortable are we talking about, Yami?"
Yami chuckled. "Not as comfortable as you're fearing, I'm guessing," he returned with a smile. "Let's do this - dress to show off your best assets. I want the man I'm with to look good."
[Does he KNOW what words like that - in that voice - do to me?] Seto thought, shivering, a trickle of latent desire teasing him. "Yami, I always dress to look good."
Yami responded with a low, rich laugh that further teased the young executive. "Yes, you do at that, Seto! Actually, I think we'll look damn good together. Any problem with that?"
"No way," Seto replied, chuckling finally. "I look forward to this evening, Yami. See you at six o'clock."
