[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Mistress: I am updating from our empty old house. Since the internet is not up at the new one this will be my last update until further notice.
Chapter
I walk into the kitchen and get myself a glass of water. I had been working outside in my garden all day and it was about time that I rested. For someone my age I was quite fit. I hear the door creek or rather jingle and you run in with a bright smile. I take another sip and tell you to wait outside in the garden. I go into our reading room and fetch the book. It is too hot to read inside today…
“Yumi dear, your “father” and I have been discussing you getting your new room,” Mrs. Moto said as the “family” gathered around the dinner table.
After being interrupted from her conversation with her new friends she had learned that the family always ate their dinner together, no exceptions. So grudgingly she had sat down as the maid brought them their dinner. It all seemed so strange to her. When she had lived with her father they barely even spoke to each other…
“Uhuh,” she responded with little enthusiasm as she poked at the substance occupying her plate.
“We will later build you a new room but for now you can have the attic space,” Mrs. Moto said while taking a sip of her wine.
Yumi grew and interest the moment that she said attic. Being the person she was the attic would be perfect. First she had to look at it to see if it would suit her needs…
“Can I see it?” she asked while pushing the stuff from one side of the plate to the other.
Mrs. Moto nodded and told her that she would bring her there after dinner. As the rest of the family finished Yumi had barely even touched her food. Well she had touched it but not in the way that the family hoped.
“Yumi dear, the food doesn't bite,” Mr. Moto said while waiting for the maids to clear his dish.
`Yeah but it kills….I mean what is that stuff?' she thought.
Instead she smiled and said, “It's the first day of school and I'm a little exhausted. I ate plenty at school however.”
The parents seemed to accept the excuse and directed one of the maids to clear her dish as well. Trying to hide her grin Yumi followed her “parents” towards the stairs. She fell behind as her brother caught up with her.
“That excuse won't work next time, trust me. I've tried,” Yami whispered to his sister causing her to giggle slightly.
The tension and animosity from before had already subsided and the atmosphere seemed pretty calm around the two. Yami really wasn't a bad person just someone with seriously messed up priorities. Yumi could live with that but with the plans she had it simply would not work for him to be such a stuck up ass.
At the front the two parents softly smiled at each other, glad that Yumi and Yami were getting along at least. They had expected more fighting…more hostility. After all, even with the divorce, the original Moto's had been a family for at least two years. Yes the two had been inseparable but both of them had always been violent and both hated to loose. The new family climbed the stairs and came to a small hallway.
“You first Yumi, after all it will be your room for the time being,” Mrs. Moto said stepping aside so that her daughter could pass.
Yumi nodded eagerly and dashed down the hall. As she opened the door she saw a pull down ladder. Getting more exited by the second she pulled it down and started to climb. The attic was the size of a normal bedroom. It had a window that led to the roof and another that faced the pool. As Yumi explored she found many places to hide trinkets and valuables. Her mother poked her head through the opening.
“Do you like it?” she asked.
“I don't like it, I LOVE it! Can I keep this room please!” she begged her mother.
“Alright alright, I take it that you don't want another room built for you?” she asked gently.
“Nope this will do,” she responded enthusiastically.
Yumi descended the stairs and hugged her mother tightly. She promised that next weekend they would go shopping for furniture and Yumi, thinking of her friends, asked if she could invite a few people to come with her. Mrs. Moto, enthusiastic that Yumi had already made friends, agreed immediately.
I close the book telling you that the pages will burn if we keep it open any longer. You whine at the shortness of the chapter but grudgingly agree. I smile and tell you that you can come over any time for a new chapter. So you leave and I return the book into its proper place. Back to garden work for me.
AUTHORS BLAH BLAH
Mistress: Okay okay, I know it's short. But the next few chapters will be like building up their friendship and stuff unless you guys are okay with me skipping a few months to where they are great friends and the STRONG outcastxpopular interaction starts with Yumi playing matchmaker.
