Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Confessions of the Inner Heart ❯ A Chance ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

The next day at school, Malik couldn't help but think about his sister. After the screams from yesterday, Isis was suddenly quite sullen and depressed. She quit showing her usual snobby attitude and replaced it with a kind of depression Malik had never seen in her before.

His thoughts were interrupted when Marik Ishtar came down the hallway with his usual group of friends. All of sudden, all Malik could think about was how hot Marik must be without clothes on. Why the hell am I thinking this? Not like it's ever going to happen…He sighed.

As the group of people passed by, Malik swore that Marik glanced his way and smirked, but then he thought about how much he wanted that to actually happen and choked it up as being just a trick of the light.

Marik's POV

“Marik, what's the deal?” Honda asked.

What do you think the deal is, moron? Your stupidity is starting to get on my last nerve. “Back off.” I replied vehemently.

I closed my mind off to the rest of the group, just shutting out every voice around me. I was sick of listening to that stupid Anzu talk about bunnies and frogs, and Yami's talk about doing something heroic was starting to work on my last nerve. And then stupid Honda and his need to get my attention. I mean, my God man, get a life!

“Look, it's him.” Someone whispered to my right. Glancing in the direction of random person's whisper, I saw him again. That same little boy with the same last name and looks as me. It's almost as if we are twins, separated at birth. Such an idea can't keep me from smirking as I turn away to keep walking.

“See you later, Marik.” Yami waves with Jou next to him. Waving once, I turned and walked away towards home. Suddenly, away from it all, my mind focuses on that boy. He just stood there, watching us. Maybe watching me. God, don't be so self-serving, Marik. As if that boy would want to look at his double. He was probably checking out Anzu.

Then again, from school gossip, that boy's a closet gay guy. His friends, Ryou and Yugi, are a little bit more open, being together and all. But that doesn't mean he actually is.

“Would be nice if he was though.” I mumbled out loud. Sighing, I kicked the nearest wall and continued walking.

Normal POV

When Marik came home, Isis and his father had already disappeared. He looked about the house for them, checking their rooms and the main rooms. No sign of them anywhere.

Good. He thought to himself. Now maybe he could move around the house without fearing for his life. Sitting down on the couch, he flipped on the TV and went through random channels, looking for something to watch. He finally stopped on Fox, where House was playing.

Suddenly, his cell phone came to life, ringing and pleading him to answer. Flipping it open, he glanced Ryou's picture on the phone before pressing it to his ear. “Hey there.”

“Malik, I'm glad you answered.” Malik could picture his smile. “Yugi and I were thinking about going to a party that one of our friends are having. Everyone's going to be there,” His voice dropped to a whisper, “including Marik Ishtar.”

Malik reddened. Ryou had known about his interest in Marik after Malik having told him in a game of truth or dare at Yugi's house. He had been trying to help him achieve it ever since. “Are we invited?”

“Psh, of course we're invited.” Ryou replied coolly over the phone. “Just be at my house by six, okay?”

“What about my Father, Ryou? He's not too keen on me going to a party in the middle of the school week.”

“Just leave him a note and tell him you're at my house studying with Yugi and me.” His voice took on a pleading sound, “You want this chance, don't you?”

“Yes.” Malik sighed. “Fine, I'll be there.” He clicked it off and turned off the TV. Stealing up to his room, he pulled out his journal and opened it.

September 11, 2005

Dear Journal,

So Ryou's now invited me to come to a little party with Yugi and him at one of their random friend's houses. It's probably one of his fag hags who are striving to please him, as usual. I really want to go to this thing, but I don't want to risk getting killed by Father. However, if I do leave a note saying I'm studying, he will believe me, won't he?
Then again, it might not matter if I leave a note or not. He only cares about Isis, so a missing son shouldn't be a problem for him at all. And it would probably save me from getting beaten for hearing something like yesterday.
I guess I've made up my mind as I write. I have to go to this party because it's the best thing for me. I might get to finally hook up with Marik, if Ryou's telling the truth. And the last thing I want right now is to be a victim to Father, again.

Malik closed the book and put the pen away. Then, getting up, he strolled to his closet and threw out clothes, trying to find the perfect outfit. He finally settled on one that Ryou had helped him pick out last Fall, saying that he had to look hot to attract. Slipping on the outfit, he admired himself in the mirror. The outfit consisted of black leather pants and a red leather tanktop that stretched over his few muscles. Putting on some of his golden bracelets, he closed the door to his room and went downstairs.

In the kitchen, he pulled out a piece of paper from the notepad used to take down people's numbers and scribbled a note to his Father, just in case he actually cared to know where Malik was.

Gone to Ryou's house to study for an upcoming test this week. Will be staying overnight. Should be home tomorrow after school. I'll call you if something happens.

~Malik

Grabbing some money and stuffing it in his pocket, Malik went out the door and towards Ryou's house.
