Don't Give Up

The phone rang loudly through the apartment causing Yugi to stir in his sleep. He didn't want to get up and answer the phone, he was didn't want to arouse; he just wanted to stay in his dream ... his dream of telling a certain someone that he loved him. After the fifth ring, the answering machine picked it up ...

"Yugi, answer the phone! It's an emergence!"

The blue eyed boy sprung up ran to the phone knowing who it was.

"Anzu? What's going on?"

"It's Jonouchi! He's in the hospital right now ..."

"No ..."

Yugi slowly walked up to the glass window and peered in, his eyes not wanting to see the site ... but it did and it was causing his heart to feel nothing but pain. Anzu looked down to see that Yugi gone from tan to white.

"Yugi ... are .. are you all right?"

"Yea. I'll be fine ..."

The nurse walked out with a sad look on her face as she looked at the small crowd. Then her eyes widen looking straight at Yugi.

"You wouldn't happen to be Yugi Mutou, would it?"

"Hu ... yea, that's my name ..."

"Oh wow! I can't believe it! The famous Yugi Mutou in my hospital! So, do you have a girlfriend ..."

*Ahem* They all turned to see a man dressed all in white with a stethoscope draped over his shoulder and pens showing out of his pockets.

"Patient 4525 needs to have his medication ..."

"Oh right a way! Don't go anywhere hansom ... I'll be right back!"

With that the nurse ran off to do her duties.

"Sorry about her. She can be annoying at times but she's a really good nurse."

"I'm sure she is." Yugi responded trying to put on his sweet harms mask on.

"Now, is it all right if we visit Jonouchi?" Anzu asked.

"Of course. But one person at a time."

"Why don't you go ahead, Yugi."

"Me?"

"Why not? You too are good friends after all." Honda pointed out.

"Go on," Anzu said putting her hands on the smaller boys shoulder.

Once in side, the place seamed to give off a sense of death as he walked closer to the bed. Jonouchi had a bandage around his head his wrists and chest. Why? Why wasn't I there to save you like I did before?

"Yugi ..."

The boy's eyes widen as he looked down to see that Jonouchi was awake.

"Yugi ... is that you?"

"Yes ... but what happened? Who did this to you?"

"A couple of kids where making fun of you, Yugi ... I couldn't let them get away with talking trash about you ..."

"That doesn't matter! What mattered is that they hurt my friend!"

Yugi was now angry as tears escape from his eyes.

"Jonouchi, just promise me that you'll never do that again!"

"But Yugi, they where asking for it!"

"Just promise me ..."

Jonouchi sighed, "I promise."

By now Yugi's expression changed back to normal ... big blue eyes full of life and that cute innocent face. That was part of the reason why Jonouchi was attracted to the small boy and he was all so caring and smart. That's when he realized that he was looking at Yugi. He immediately turned his head away.

"You better go get something to eat."

"You sure. I can stay ..."

"Just go, Yugi ..."

With that, Jonouchi watched his crush walk out. I can't believe I did that! He thought, Now Yugi thinks I'm upset with him! Me and my big mouth!
