Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Double Identity ❯ Lucas's Friends ( Chapter 23 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

(Meira: Okay, I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh, Saéka Mizuki, Kai Hiwatari, or Riruka Takahashi. Or Tyson from Beyblade.

Yami: THAT WAS MY LINE!

Meira: So? I've been slaving over this story for some time now…

Yami: …

Meira: *turns to watching Yu-Gi-Oh* VALON YOU JACKASS!

Yami: *looks at screen* You don't need to freak out… he only helped Mai become a freak…

Meira: SHUT UP!!!

Yami: Well, at least there's two new episodes a week now, you don't need to freak too much anymore…

Meira: Well, at least Joey can defeat Mai… you couldn't defeat Raphael at all!

Yami: THAT WAS A FREAK ACCIDENT!

Meira: Riiight…)

~~Saéka's POV~~

"What?" I asked, shocked. "This DNA matches that of the victim?"

The man nodded. "Afraid so."

I shook my head. "But doesn't that mean that Lucas is the murderer?"

"You have any proof?"

My temper flared.

"Calm down," Kaiba said, coming into the lab. "Now's not the time to jump to conclusions at all."

"Great," I said. "Can you tell me when would be a good time?"

Kaiba's expression didn't change.

"Can you tell me who this victim is anyway?" I asked, remembering that I didn't know anything about this person.

"Hillary Van Scott," the lab guy said. I looked at his nametag. Dr. Clayton…

"Who?" I asked, dumbfounded.

Dr. Clayton walked over to a file cabinet and pulled out a folder. "Hillary Van Scott. Singer, waitress, model," he said, reading from the file. He snapped the file shut. "Worked in a bar."

"Does that mean that she was one of those strippers?"

"No," Kaiba answered. "It is a bar, but not like that."

"You mean you've actually been there?"

"I'm working here!" Kaiba snapped. "You think I can go undercover at a place like that? That's for crazy idiots like you-"

"Excuse me?" I asked, putting my hands on my hips. "If I remember correctly, you're the person that dragged me into this mess!"

Kaiba glared at me.

"Anyways," I said, holding out my hand. "I'll review this file tonight. After I get a new ID."

"A new ID?" Kaiba asked. "What for?"

"Hello!" I said, throwing my hands up. "I can't go around anymore with an ID that says `Saéka Mizuki' anymore! Especially if Lucas wants to see it!"

"I see…" Kaiba said slowly. "I'll make one for you tonight. What is your fake name?"

I thought for a minute. "Leila… Leila… Leila…"

"Leila what?" Kaiba asked impatiently.

"Leila… Hiwatari."

"Isn't that your friend's last name?"

I shrugged. "Oh, and I'm eighteen, my birthday is on June fourth…"

"Enough already," Kaiba said. "Why do you need one this soon?"

"Going to a bar tomorrow night," I replied. "Trying to find out more."

"Which bar?"

"Not sure… tell you when I find out."

***

-RING!

"Hello?" I asked, picking up the phone, putting on a girly voice - just in case.

"Leila?" the voice asked.

"Lucas!"

"Hey, babe. I thought we could go get a drink tomorrow night at Harrison's, around eight o' clock? My friends want to meet the girl that I've been talking so much about."

I cringed. Talking about me to his friends? Great…

"How `bout it?"

"Sounds great," I giggled. "I'll meet you there."

"Fine by me. See you later, baby."

"Bye!"

I hung up and laid back on my bed. Great… now he was calling me baby? What an idiot… Did Kaiba seriously expect me to do this?

Damnit… I'd already agreed. Guess I'd just have to live that damn date out…

***

"Leila!" Lucas called from a table in the back.

"Hey!" I smiled, putting on my sweetest, most poisonous smile. God I was getting tired of that smile…

I walked over to see several men sitting near Lucas. Not a single girl. Great…

"Lucas," I giggled, sitting down next to him. "Are these your famous friends? They're soo hot!"

His friends snorted into their drinks. Lucas flushed.

"I'm sorry," I pouted, giving him puppy eyes. [Meira: HAHA!!! *hides from GLTB*]

"Why would I be mad at you?" Lucas laughed, putting his arm around my shoulders. I avoided cringing. "After all, they've heard that from a lot of girls already."

He pointed at each of his friends in turn. "Ray, Noel, Parker, Logan, and Derek."

"Hey," I said, smiling sweetly at each of them.

Ray was cute… I had to admit that. Dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes, tall, reminded me of Joey, truth be told.

Noel was different than Ray… dark haired, azure eyes, and he was wearing earrings. He looked somewhat similar to Duke. I smiled.

Parker looked like Alec from back in Chicago. He was cute and all, but just the slight stalker look to him slightly scared me. Yeesh… how many Alec look-alikes could I find?

Logan looked like he could be in a soap opera, and I'm serious. He was cute, tall, and had a killer smile. Brown hair and stuff. Though the strangest thing were the amethyst eyes. Those eyes reminded me of Yugi and Yami.

Derek… he looked like Tyson from Beyblade, my favorite anime show. [Meira: -_- And they're in an anime… Hehe…] I mean, cute.

I gave Lucas a flirty smile. "Your friends are cute, too bad I can't say the same for you."

Lucas gave me a haughty smile. "Wanna find out?"

"Nah," I said. "I don't think I've had enough to drink yet."

"Good point," Derek said, smirking. "Bring over a few shots of alcohol here!"

"What do you want?" the waitress called back.

"Maybe just a soda," I said, trying to avoid drinking altogether. "I don't think that I should really… get drunk tonight."

Ugh… who knew that this could be so hard? I was sixteen, pretending to be eighteen, I'd never tried alcohol in my life, and here I was, sitting at a bar with some potential criminals! Why me?

Because if you don't, somebody else has to be here in your place, a voice in my mind answered.

"Come on," Parker said, eyeing me closely. "You do drink, don't you?"

"I'm eighteen," I giggled. "Not often."

"Come on," Noel laughed. "Bring over a few light beers!"

The waitress brought over his order.

Ray set a bottle in front of me. "Go on, drink it! After all, nobody's going to get you for anything."

I picked it up doubtfully. "I really don't know, guys…"

"Compared to those shots of Everclear you had last night, this should be nothing," Lucas teased.

"Everclear?" Derek shouted. "Whoa… you must be one brave girl to try those!"

I smiled sweetly at him. "I learned my lesson last night."

"Just drink it," Lucas coaxed. [Meira: ooc comment - Listen to your inner voice, don't let the outside voice overpower your inner voice. Don't give in to peer pressure! {Friends at school will know what I mean!}]

I picked up the bottle and lifted it up to my lips.

I nearly gagged at the taste of the alcohol.

"Never had a light beer before?" Lucas asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Just a hangover," I said sweetly. "I tried not to show it… but I'd never thought that a light beer could be so… weak compared to Everclear!" [Meira: Is that right? I dunno… NO, I HAVE NEVER TRIED ALCOHOL IN MY LIFE! AND I DON'T INTEND TO EITHER!]

"Want a Tequila?" Ray asked.

"Oh, no thanks," I smiled. "I'm afraid that I just don't drink those. It's just not to my liking."

"I see…" Lucas said slowly. "You want some Everclear?"

"Don't want another hangover," I smiled.

"Then what're we doing here?" Noel asked, jumping up. "The new night club's open today!"

Night clubs… weren't they for adults? I was so dead…

Oh wait, my fake ID said that I was eighteen… so I could just play along, I guess…

"Can't wait," I said, smiling.

***

"You are so dead," I hissed into my cell phone. "I swear that I will kill you!"

"Oh really?" Kaiba's cold voice came over the phone. "I'd like to see you try."

"Now listen here, Kaiba," I snapped. "YOU ARE SO DEAD!"

"What did Lucas ask you to do?"

"Go to a fucking night club."

"A night club? I wasn't aware that teenagers were allowed there."

"Why else did I say that you're so dead?"

"Get back to work," Kaiba snapped. "You have less than three weeks left to crack this case!"

"Then what are you doing? I was under the assumption that you took up this case, not me."

"I'm cracking a code that was transmitted by some person. It was intercepted by Kaiba Corp today, and I'm trying to figure out what it says!"

"Fine. I'll let you jus sit back and do the easy work while I'm out here trying to get myself killed!" I snapped.

"Perfect."

He hung up.

"Leila, you done talking yet?" Lucas called, knocking on the women's washroom door.

"Yeah," I said, putting on that false, girlish voice. "My friends think that it's so awesome that I finally met somebody!"

I came out.

"You ready to go?"

I nodded and the six of us stepped into the street.

A car came barreling toward us.

(Meira: … Evil writer's block…

Yami: AGAIN?!

Meira: Yup… I CAN'T BELIEVE I PUT FLUFF INTO THIS CHAPTER!

Yami: … Meira wants everybody to know that she does know that drinking is illegal under the age of 21 - she says she's not that stupid.

Meira: ^-^ See? I told you I wasn't as stupid as you think!

Yami: *sweatdrop* Anyways, she says that this was an important chapter, and that there probably won't be any drinking in later chapters, although there may be the use of drugs.

Meira: It would be nice if you just shut up…

Yami: … You could fill the readers in on a little more…

Meira: They'll just have to read, review, and wait patiently!

Yami: T-T)
