Chapter Twenty-Eight: The End?

She looked so small, so frail, so delicate lying there among the white sheets. Her face was pale, and her hair was loose, but her eyes were open and watched him as he made his way into the room.

"Hey," Mina murmured softly, smiling at him. Seto managed a grim frown back, and she shook her head sadly.

"I'm sorry. It seemed like the right thing to do…I was mad…mad at you and daddy and Joey and, well, everyone else! But I am sorry. It was a stupid thing to do. It's my fault that you won't get that money.." She trailed off, fidgeting with the fringe on the white blanket. The silence in the room was stifling.

And then, suddenly, he bent down to her level and brushed her bangs out of her eyes.

"Hey, don't worry about it. I'll find the money some other way. I'm just glad that you're okay.." He whispered, wiping away the tear that had begun to roll down her cheek with his thumb.

Mina looked up slowly, and he smiled to show her he was being sincere. The sparkle that lit up in her eyes was astounding! With a cry, she launched her arms around his neck and began to cry onto his shoulder.

"Mina…don't cry…" He mumbled into her hair, hesitating only a second before wrapping his arms around her. "Your head will start to hurt."

She gave an obedient sniffle, tightening her grip on him. "You're such a jerk.." Came the muted reply, but the tone was a pleased one. "And I love you…"

Seto paused, sighing softly. Could he do it? Would he?

This was not the time for hesitation. Now or never.

"I love you too, Mina…" He said, his eyes softening as he thought of the future.

And how everything would always turn out allright in the end…

Because dreams really do come true..
