Battle Stage 13: Confrontation! A Tale of Two Duellists - Part 1

The city of Janus is a city of many secrets. Three groups of youths, Yuugi Mutou with Anzu Mazaki, Katsuya Jyoonouchi with his sister Shizuka affectionately known as Serenity because of her usual demeanor, Mai Kujyaku and Seto Kaiba all headed towards this city.

First to arrive was Seto Kaiba, after almost destroying Ryota Kajiki he triumphantly marched from to Janus from Oceanos. He was unaware of the group following him from the Duellist Centre to Janus; they moved quietly maintaining a parallel path.

“Do you think anyone will be there when we arrive?” Anzu asked as she and Yuugi made their way to Janus. Yuugi shrugged, “Maybe, I hope Jou did ok against the Gym Leader in Bellrophon though.”

Anzu smiled, “I'm sure he did fine, I mean he had you and Grandpa as teachers, you can't get much better than that.”

Yuugi went slightly pink, “Th-thanks Anzu.”

Anzu smiled again this time at him and they continued towards their destination. The two stopped at a crossroads, Anzu sat on a log under a tree on a side of the crossroads while Yuugi stood in front of a sign with his map. Anzu sighed resting her chin on her hand, “The world's greatest Duellist… and he can't read a map…”

Yuugi sweat dropped, “I'm trying my best…”

“That's what's worrying me…”

Yuugi gave Anzu a look to which she stuck out her tongue. As Yuugi examined his map he felt a rumble in the ground, soon after the rumble turned into a sound of motorcycles approaching. Yuugi looked towards the source of the sound to see a rising cloud of dust not unlike that kicked up by a herd of bulls. But instead of bulls burly men and women mounted on Harley Davidson motorcycles approached. They roared up and began circling Yuugi and Anzu laughing and in the case of the men and some women towards Anzu wolf whistling. Anzu blushed significantly never having this much male, or female attention focused on her young shoulders in her entire life, she looked across to Yuugi, who looked down right annoyed.

The leader of the bikers stopped with a smirk, “What do we have here, a couple of lost lambs too far from home?”

Yuugi stepped in front of Anzu growling, the leader laughed, “The tyke has some spunk.”

As the other bikers laughed the best looking of the male bikers rolled up beside Anzu and smiled, “Hey baby, want to go for a ride I promise, it'll be fun.”

Anzu went pink in response, “Ahh, n-no thanks.”

The guy smirked putting an arm around her waist, “Come on baby, you're breaking my heart here…”

Anzu tried to pull away, but the biker's grip was to strong, “Baby, come with me now, I promise it won't hurt you or your boyfriend…” his smirk widened, “To much…”

Anzu attempted to pull away a second time, “N-no, leave me alone!” She mewed as her will and strength decreased as his increased.

“Let, her, GO!!” Yuugi bellowed using unnatural strength to shove the man holding Anzu over his bike to the ground, grabbing hold of Anzu so she wouldn't tumble over with him.

“You little bitch!!!” The man bellowed scrambling to his feet, “You're going to pay for that you obnoxious little shit!” The individual brandished a duel disk; Yuugi slammed his on his arm and looked poised for battle keeping Anzu safely behind him.

You're going down… huh…” The guy said but his roll was interrupted by the gang leader grabbing his card drawing hand, “Boss, what the hell are you doing?”

The gang leader looked at him as if he were insane, “You idiot, don't you know who that kid is?”

“Yeah, it's the guy I'm about to beat, and who's girlfriend I'll be riding later!”

“Idiot, that's Yuugi Mutou!”

The colour suddenly drained from the gigolo biker's face as the facts sunk in. Anzu grinned wrapping her arms around Yuugi's neck. Yuugi blushed feeling the top of Anzu's sizable chest press against his shoulders.

“I can beat him boss, I know I can.” The gigolo assured, whether it was himself or everyone else he was still debating.

We can beat him.” The lead biker said a vicious grin crossed the faces of the other bikers; the leader licked his lips at Anzu.

Yuugi's face dropped, “We?”

Just as Yuugi spoke the bikers unleashed their monsters, Cyber Dinosaur (Light/Machine/Effect/7 ATK/2500 DEF/1900), Yamata Dragon (Fire/Dragon/Effect/7 ATK/2600 DEF/3100) Metal Armoured Bug (Earth/Insect/8 ATK/2800 DEF/1500) and Perfect Machine King (Earth/Machine/Effect/8 ATK/2700 DEF/1500) among others represented.

Yuugi scowled, “Anzu, get clear.”

“No, I'm staying.”

“Anzu, you have to go, I couldn't stand to see you hurt…”

“Same here.”

Anzu, you have to go!”

“I hate to break this little argument up, but, ATTACK!” The lead biker ordered, Yuugi growled shoving Anzu away drawing cards from his deck, without even looking at them.

“You're in for it now; I play Polymerization (Spell);

1. Fusing King's (Light/Warrior/Effect/4 ATK/1600 DEF/1400) Queen's (Light/Warrior/4 ATK/1500 DEF/1300) and Jack's Knight (Light/Warrior/5 ATK/1900 DEF/1500);

2. Summoning Arcana Knight Joker (Light/Spellcaster/Effect/Fusion/9 ATK/3800 DEF/2500) in attack…”

“That was a stupid move kid, Hell Polymer (Trap) allows me to dispose of my Robotic Knight (Fire/Machine/4 ATK/1600 DEF/1800) to take control of your Arcana Knight Joker.”

The monsters advanced on Yuugi, he braced himself as they were poised to unleash their attacks, but then, “Harpy's Pet Dragon (Wind/Dragon/Effect/7 ATK/2000 DEF/2500) defend Yuugi!” A familiar voice screamed. Harpy's Dragon rose before Yuugi and withstood the attacks of all the opposing monsters.

Yuugi and Anzu shielded their eyes as Harpy's Pet Dragon counterattacked, destroying the attacking monsters, the gang leader looked incensed, “What the hell was that, our monsters were far stronger, what happened!”

The voice laughed, “That might be true, if my Harpy's (Wind/Winged Beast/4 ATK/1300 DEF/1400 x4) weren't on the field with Harpy Lady 1's effect increasing all Wind type monsters attack three hundred points, I also added Malevolent Nuzzler (Equip/Spell) to increase it's over all attack another seven hundred points (ATK/4200 DEF/3700), want to try that again hon?”

Yuugi and Anzu spun around, Mai was standing behind them, Jou was holding Serenity beside Mai, protecting his little sister from the bikers. “You boys and girls have had your fun, you lost, now shoo.”

“Who the hell do you think you are?” The biker leader screamed growing slightly manic, Mai grinned, “Who me, I'm the one with the forty two hundred attack point monster, now shoo.” She ordered, her Harpy's Dragon growled ominously.

The bikers scowled muttering unpleasant things directed at Mai boarding their bikes, the Gigolo watched Anzu with a leer, “See you soon baby.” He blew her a kiss as the bikers took off, Jou and Yuugi growled defensively causing Anzu to blush. After a moment the two turned to greet their saviour.

“Mai!” They both exclaimed jumping to their feet to embrace their friend, who smiled returning their hugs, “It's good to see you both as well.”

“You look really good Mai.” Yuugi commented with a smile as Anzu gave Jou a warm embrace, Yuugi's eyes were drawn to them; Mai raised a slight eyebrow seeing the jealousy in his eyes.

Mai shook it off and smiled, “You're looking pretty good yourself Yuugi.”

Yuugi blushed, “Thanks Mai.”

A small growl came from Anzu's throat witnessing the banter between Yuugi and Mai, “SO, Jou how did you go in Bellarophon.”

Yuugi turned and smiled, “Did you win?”

Jou grinned displaying his duelling glove, “Of course.”

“That's great Jou, was the gym leader anyone we know?” Anzu asked.

Jou grinned throwing a glance to Mai, “Nah, just a skilled duellist that I completely nailed.”

Yuugi smiled, “That's great Jou, but we should talk about this later, I don't want those bikers getting any ideas about coming back for a second round.”

Anzu nodded, “You're probably right Yuugi, I've had enough of being leered at by creeps for one day.”

The boys nodded and the five began walking toward Janus. As they walked Mai made her way up beside Jyoonouchi, she snuggled up to his frame, “Hon, if you ever say you nailed me again.” She began elbowing him in the ribs, “I'll show you the real meaning of nailed.”

Anzu and Yuugi looked on confused and bemused by as Mai walked towards them. Serenity sighed tending to her brother who was doubled over. Yuugi smiled, `This is all I wanted…'

As the group walked the ground beneath them slowly transformed from dirt to steel, soon after they entered a city bound in steel and concrete. Buildings reached into the sky, as if trying to touch heaven itself. Steel, glass and concrete completely surrounded them.

“This is really unusual.” Yuugi commented.

Anzu nodded, “It's definitely not like Hel.”

“Or Bellarophon.” Mai agreed.

“Guess this means Pittsburgh is out…”

“Guess so, we should find the Duellist Centre.”

The others nodded and Yuugi brought out his map, he studied it carefully mumbling to himself. Anzu, Jou, Shizuka and Mai waited patiently. Minutes passed, more minutes passed and then, “Yuugi do you know where we're going or not?!” Mai snapped.

Yuugi stopped looking fearfully at Mai, “Ye-ye-yes, maybe…”

“Then let's go!”

Yuugi led them through the city feeling Mai glaring at his back. Suddenly feeling very small he said, “We're close.”

“Good.”

Yuugi shrunk away from Mai's voice causing Anzu to glare at the Double D-cup blonde. Jou and Shizuka stayed back, to avoid the crossfire. Finally Yuugi stopped and smiled, “We're here.”

“Finally.” Mai exclaimed, “If he weren't so damn sexy…” She mumbled stalking off around Yuugi and Anzu. Anzu balked and Yuugi went crimson as they heard what Mai had said.

The group entered the familiarly designed Duellist Centre, hearing a familiar voice they paused, “Well, the dork squad finally arrives.”

Jyoonouchi growled, “Kaiba, shut up.”

Kaiba scoffed, “Why would I listen to a mutt?”

“Kaiba, we just met up again, can we not start insulting each other right away?”

“Whatever Yuugi.” He responded sipping his tea.

As Yuugi rubbed his temples Kaiba scanned the group and scowled, “What is that doing here?” Kaiba asked indicating to Mai.

Yuugi frowned, “Kaiba, Mai is not that, Mai is Mai, a beautiful, intelligent woman and an exceptional duellist deserving of your respect.”

Everyone stopped staring at Yuugi, Anzu's eye twitched and Jou's hands clenched, Mai smirked, “You think I'm beautiful Yuugi?”

“We-ell, ye-yeah, I-I do.” He responded suddenly feeling very isolated and small again.

`WHY did Yuugi say that? Does he like blonde bimbos with gigantic breasts or something?!' Anzu screamed mentally glaring at Mai. Kaiba sat calmly sipping his tea, glad to be beyond teenage lover's angst. He didn't notice however the eyes Serenity was making at him.

“Yu-Yuugi, why did you say that?” Jou asked slowly and quietly.

“Because it's true, isn't it Jou?”

Jyoonouchi went bright red, “Ah, we-ell I guess, I really, hadn't noticed.”

Mai's breath caught in her throat, “Hadn't noticed…”

“Nope, not one bit.” Jou said with a laugh.

“Ah, Jou…” Yuugi said wearily.

“What is AH?!” Jou yelled as Mai smacked him on the back of the head, “Ow, Mai, what did you do that for?!”

“Because, you're an insensitive jerk!” Mai snapped storming upstairs to the bunk rooms.

Yuugi sighed wandering towards the stairs as Anzu gave Jou a hard slap around the head, “Anzu, you too!”

“When you're being an insensitive jerk yes!”

“What did I do?!” Jou yelled shrinking away from Anzu's hand.

“You were being totally insensitive to Mai's feelings!”

“No I was…” Jou stopped cowering under Anzu's gaze.

Kaiba cleared his throat, “Oh Mazaki, your boyfriend's left.”

Anzu looked up, “Huh, who?”

Kaiba sneered, “Mutou, who do you think?”

Anzu slammed her hands on the table, her eyes wide, “Wh-what, Yuugi's not my boyfriend!!!”

Kaiba calmly placed his tea cup on the saucer, “Oh? I was sure you two were…”

“Wha, me and Yu-Yuugi, yo, you're joking right, m-me and Yuugi…” Anzu forced a laugh blushing like a cherry.

Yuugi stood on the stairs resting his head against the wall, “Yeah, a joke…” He whispered his eyes watering.

Kaiba laughed, “So I was right, you're on your knees for the Pharaoh… I'm surprised you came along.”

Anzu slapped Kaiba hard across the face, “You're a disgusting creep Kaiba.”

Kaiba didn't react he just continued smirking, “You didn't deny it.”

Serenity and Jou restrained Anzu before she could inflict serious injury to Kaiba dragging her away, “Come on Anzu, he's not worth it.”

Yuugi shook his head pondering whether or not Kaiba could be right walking upstairs, at the top he found Mai wiping her eyes, “Yuugi, what are you doing up here?”

“I… came up to say, even if Jyoonouchi hasn't, I've noticed how beautiful you are.” Yuugi replied his cheeks turning pink.

Mai smiled, “You're sweet.” She lent down exposing more of her cleavage for him to view giving him a kiss on the cheek, her lips brushing his as she walked away leaving Yuugi a deep shade of crimson as Anzu walked up the stairs.

“Hey Yuugi, what's up?”

“M-Mai, just kissed me… I'll be in bunk.” Yuugi explained hobbling towards his room.

“Sh-she didn't…” Anzu whispered her face turning pale, `I, can't, I will… won't I?'

Later that night the native Hitomi wandered around the Duellist Centre cleaning up and generally ensuring the smooth running of her Centre. As Hitomi entered the reception area she frowned noticing the café light was still on. Walking into the café she noticed Yuugi sitting alone at a table nursing a hot drink.

“Yuugi, what are you doing here, it's so late?”

“Hitomi, sorry, I didn't wake you, did I?” He asked jumping slightly at the sound of her voice.

“I asked first.”

Yuugi sighed, “I couldn't sleep.”

“What's on your mind?” Hitomi asked sitting opposite him at the table.

Yuugi gazed out the window, “I… did something a few months ago, at the time I thought it was the right thing to do…”

“But now you're reconsidering?”

Yuugi nodded, “I'm just not sure what to do now…”

Hitomi paused thoughtfully, “Why don't you talk to your friends, they seem to care about you a great deal.”

Yuugi's eyes grew mournful, “No, I can't…”

Hitomi blinked, “Why not?”

“If they knew, they'd hate me…”

“I'm sure they wouldn't.”

“I betrayed them…” He whispered.

Hitomi raised an eyebrow, “Excuse me?”

“I betrayed my friends, if I tell them, they'll hate me…” He whispered again quietly.

“I don't think, Yuugi?” Hitomi asked as he rose to his feet.

“Thanks for the tea.” He said walking to the stairs.

Hitomi rose as well, “Have you decided what you'll do?”

Yuugi paused as he stepped onto the stairs remaining silent, Hitomi watched on helplessly as Yuugi ascended the stairs, “I'm sorry Yuugi, I really am.”

As Yuugi walked onto the landing he stopped looking in both directions his head dropped a tear rolling down his cheek, “I don't, know, I never do.”

The next day the group awoke to find the city blanketed with rain, “Awe, man, I wanted to duel today…”

“Heh, who said a mutt would be duelling today?” Kaiba scoffed.

“Shut up Kaiba!” Jou growled turning to Yuugi, “What are we going to do?”

Yuugi pondered the question for a moment, “You two could watch me duel.”

“Yuugi!” Kaiba and Jyoonouchi bellowed together glaring down at Yuugi who remained unfazed.

“Sounds like a good idea to me.” Mai commented with a smirk.

Anzu glared, “Butt out Mai…”

Shizuka groaned, “Eleven pages into the chapter and I haven't said anything, I feel so unloved…”

“Perhaps I can offer an alternative.” A voice called from behind them.

“Huh, what's that Hitomi?” Yuugi asked turning around.

Hitomi's eyes gleamed, “There are actually two Gyms in this city.”

“What?” the group exclaimed in surprise.

“Tell me where?!” Kaiba demanded.

Hitomi grinned, “This is something you'll have to discover for yourselves.” She teased before quickly retreating into the depths of the Duellist Centre. Kaiba looked as though he would wring the information out of her had she remained.

“Well, I guess we have to find the other gym…”

“Well duh.” Anzu muttered at Yuugi's comment, he glared a little at her, to which she poked her tongue out.

“That still doesn't solve who's going to duel.” Jou pointed out, at this everyone fell silent until Yuugi's lit up with an idea.

“I know, we each draw a monster from the top of our decks, the two powerful cards will duel.”

“That sounds good.”

“Fine.”

They shuffled their decks and placed them on a nearby table, the three took a card from the top of their decks placing them face down, Yuugi grinned, “Ready?”

The two nodded and Yuugi turned over Jou's card, “Jyoonouchi shows, Jinzo (Dark/Machine/Effect/6 ATK/2400 DEF/1500).”

“Seto shows Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6 (Fire/Dragon/Effect/6 ATK/2300 DEF/1600).”

As Yuugi turned his card over Kaiba scowled, “Yuugi shows Dark Magician (Dark/Spellcaster/7 ATK/2500 DEF/2100).” Anzu reported with a smile.

“Guess that means you're out Kaiba.” Mai pointed out with a smirk. Kaiba was about to retort when he saw the look in Yuugi's eyes and caught his tongue in his mouth.

“I refuse to watch the mutt duel, I'll watch you duel Yuugi.” Kaiba decided walking away with everyone glaring at him.

“Great… that's just great.” Anzu muttered reflecting on their last conversation the previous day, which almost saw her murder Kaiba.

“Oh, kay…” Yuugi said slowly.

Mai sighed, “I'll go watch this idiot to make sure he doesn't screw things up to badly.”

“Hey! I'm standing right here!”

“Yes, I know.” Mai said throwing a wink to Yuugi walking away.

Yuugi sighed as Anzu's eyebrow twitched, “Well then, I'll be going…” Jou said backing away slowly smiling nervously.

Yuugi edged away, “M-me to…” He said attempting to walk away, attempting, but with Anzu's hand on this collar he was not succeeding, he sweat dropped, “I'm doomed….”

Jou walked up into the dorm rooms and shook his head, “Guess not.”

“Guess not what Nii-san?” Serenity asked hugging Jou from behind.

“It's nothing.” He responded taking Serenity's hands in his “Are you ok, do you need something to eat?”

“I'm ok.” She responded as he turned to face her.

“Are you getting enough sleep, I heard you were tossing and turning last night.”

“Nii-san, I'm fine.” She assured him giving her brother a kiss on the cheek.

“I know, but I'm your brother, I'm always going to worry about you.” Serenity smiled sweetly as Mai exited one of the dorm rooms, “I've put your bag on one of the beds Serenity, Anzu has the other key.”

“Then we can go?”

“Unless you can think of anything else we could do to pass the time hon?” Mai responded with a slightly perverted grin.

“Yeah, all set.” Jyoonouchi responded slightly oblivious to Mai's suggestion.

Jyoonouchi placed his bag in his room and joined the girls on the ground floor, after saying goodbye to Yuugi and Anzu they departed. The three wandered the streets for an hour, the rain soaking them to the bone while Jou studied his map, until, “Jyoonouchi do you know where you're going or not!” They both yelled.

“AH! I, eh, think, so, maybe…” Jyoonouchi said tracing the route to the gym with his fingers edging away from Mai and Serenity slowly. Mai's eyebrow twitched, “JYOONOUCHI!!”

Jou groaned, “I'm very dead…”

Jou ran from the two girls following the path he'd traced with his fingers, Mai and Serenity pursued him almost losing him at one point before arriving at Jou's position, “Hmph, my Gym was more impressive.” Mai snarled as they stood at the drawbridge to the Janus city Gym.

The Gym pierced the skyline with three towering metallic spires that protruded from the front of the building like spears. The seamless metal walls cascaded to the ground before them; a thick metal door was embedded into the said wall, a keypad beside the door.

“Guess we have to enter the code?” Jou observed walking across the bridge.

“What code Katsuya?” Mai asked in an indignant tone using Jyoonouchi's given name.

“Don't know that's part of the fun.”

Serenity and Mai sweat dropped as they joined Jyoonouchi on the other side, the door was plain, no handle was visible, above the door was circle with a line half way through it, “I know what this is…”

“It's Pi.” Mai commented.

“Pie! Where's the Pie!” Jou exclaimed looking around energetically.

“I was talking about the Mathematical formula you baka!” Mai yelled looking slightly irritated by Jou's idiocy.

Jou laughed, “I know, relax Mai, I'm not that dumb…” He said examining the pad, “It has room for five so… three point one four one five.”

Jou entered the numbers; they blinked several times then disappeared. Jou looked at Mai and Serenity who both shrugged, suddenly a lock turned and the ground beneath them gave way.

Yuugi sighed watching Jou; Serenity and Mai leave for their duel, Anzu put a hand on his shoulder, “They'll be ok Yuugi.”

“I know it's just…”

“What?”

“This hasn't exactly gone as I'd hoped, the Hunters, those bikers, I just wanted things to go better.”

“It's gone better for me.”

“Huh?”

Anzu smiled, “You're here, we're on an adventure and I'm surrounded by my friends and Kaiba. We're getting a few bumps but when don't we…”

“But don't you wish Yami was…”

“No, I don't, I like Yami, but you're the one I want to be with…”

“Be, be with?”

“I, I, as a friend of course…” Anzu laughed nervously, “D-don't be silly Yuugi…”

“Yeah, silly…” Yuugi said quietly dipping his head.

“I… need…” Anzu stuttered retreating upstairs. She stopped in her room and bashed her arms against the door, “Masaki… you idiot….” Tears welled in her eyes, “You did it again, you did it to him again…” She quietly sobbed.

Kaiba quietly sighed having watched the entire display. He walked over to Yuugi who was still sitting with his head down. “Just give up.”

“Wh-at, Kaiba?”

“Masaki isn't going to tell you what you want to hear, she would have by now, don't fight a battle you can't win.”

Yuugi gave a hollow laugh, “Since when do you give up a fight, I distinctly remember you wouldn't give up your vendetta against Yami and I… even after we saved your bro….”

Kaiba exhaled loudly cutting Yuugi off, “Women…” He said loudly, “Are much more complicated than Duel Monsters…”

“I guess… she loves Yami anyway…” He whispered.

Kaiba shook his head and walked away, “I am surrounded by baka kuso.”

Anzu walked in from the stairs looking at him, “What was that Kaiba?”

Anzu groaned and approached Yuugi, “Ready to go?”

“Yeah, sure.” Yuugi responded quietly, Anzu recoiled slightly, “Yuugi…”

“Forget it, just forget it ok.” Yuugi responded standing up muttering, “Not like it matters anyway.”

Anzu sighed as he made his way to the door, “Kaiba, let's go!” He yelled, she tried to call out to him but nothing came out, finally she could only whisper, “Yuugi, I, I, didn't…. I'm sorry…”

Yuugi turned back to Anzu, “Well, are you coming or not?”

As the three proceeded down the boardwalk Yuugi studied his map and sighed, “Yuugi, what's up?”

“I can't find it…”

“What do you mean?” Kaiba asked stopping besides Yuugi.

“Well, this is the Gym that Jyoonouchi is going to…” Yuugi pointed out on the map, “But, I can't find this other gym Hitomi was talking about.”

“Hmph, maybe that idiot woman got it wrong.” Kaiba muttered getting a glare from both Anzu and Yuugi. It was then Yuugi noticed a small indent on the map, “Hm…”

“What's up now?” Anzu asked.

“There's a small indent on the map, it's unmarked, but it's unusual because of where it is.”

Anzu and Kaiba peered at the map, the indent was located at the centre of the city, it was surrounded by parkland, the only area in the city with living vegetation. Kaiba raised an eyebrow, “That's where we are going?”

“Yep.”

Kaiba shook his head as they started walking. Yuugi looked around and licked his lips, “Is it me, or does every town we go to seem to be barren of people?”

“Hmph, I guess Pegasus spent all his money on sets, he must not have had enough to buy actors.”

They walked in silence into a lush garden bordered by tall oak trees creating a shaded interior, “Now where is this `indent' you claim to have found?” Kaiba asked sounding less convinced of Yuugi's reasoning by the second.

“Um, well…”

Anzu sighed, “The Mutou sense of direction strikes…” Anzu began, stopping suddenly as her foot hit something solid. “Again… Kaiba I think I just found Yuugi's indent.”

The two men walked over to Anzu's position, below them was a hatch with the numbers 108 engraved on the top. Several smaller numbers were engraved below it, four, eight, fifteen, sixteen, twenty three and forty two. Kaiba turned to the other two, “The numbers engraved on the top are the sum of the smaller numbers.”

“You're right, that's strange.” Anzu said touching the numbers with her fingers.

“Well, what now?” Kaiba asked of Yuugi.

Yuugi reached down grabbing the handle of the hatch, Kaiba and Anzu backed away allowing Yuugi to pull it up. Below was a ladder leading into darkness, Yuugi put on a wiry grin, “Who's first?”

Anzu and Kaiba looked at each other then back at Yuugi, who sighed, “Fine…”

“This was your idea…”

Yuugi glowered at Anzu, “Don't remind me.” He replied descending down the ladder as Anzu poked her tongue out at him.

“Hmph, are you still alive down there?” Kaiba asked after several minutes, as he did the two heard a loud thump from below, Anzu and Kaiba looked at each other, “Yuugi, are you ok?”

All Anzu heard in response was silence, “Yuugi, what's going on?” Kaiba snapped as they heard a prolonged ow from below.

“Yuugi…” Anzu began again but was interrupted, “I'm fine, I slipped, you can come down its safe.”

They quickly descended into a small square clay walled room; Yuugi was sitting in a corner holding his ankle, “My foot slipped off the bottom rung.”

Anzu shook her head, “Such a baka…”

As Anzu helped him up Kaiba took to the only door available, he opened it and almost fell backwards. For once in Seto Kaiba's life he was stunned into silence. “Kaiba what's, whoa…”

“Kami-sama…” Anzu whispered.

The door had opened onto a small ramp way that lead to nothing but air. Below the said ramp, stretched a city, it spanned almost two miles in every direction the three could see. Unlike above this city was alive, even from so high up Yuugi, Anzu and Kaiba could hear the faint din of the metropolis, its majestic spires reaching from the domed roof.

Yuugi, Anzu and Kaiba stared at each other in awe, “This, is different…”

To Be Continued…
