Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Egypt Gone Yu-Gi-Ou! ❯ What Fate Has In Store ( Chapter 2 )
"Yii, what are you thinking about?" A young servant named Pamiuw asked the black-haired man that stood before the pub. His fine black hair was often worn up, in a cloth, to, supposedly, keep it out of the way. The man was watching as a procession of men walked down the boulevard. Yii always came out or paused what he was doing to watch these specticles. No one knew why, only that he did. Out of the four that had started living in the pub the night the Pharaoh and all the other nobles in the city were killed, Yii was the most silent and did strange things. Pakhet had warned her servants to let the man alone. She said he'd lost someone dear on that night. All four had, but, a year and a half later, Yii was the only one it still affected visibly.
Yii glanced down at the girl. "Nothing, little one." He mumbled, then bent down and picked up a bag of food from the ground at his feet. He walked back into the pub. Out of all the workers in the pub, he was the only one who could carry the large sacks in without any trouble or help. Others were jealous at first, but they soon began to respect him as second in command. He was fair and could end any argument with a word. If a fight broke out in the pub, Yii would step up, pull the fighters apart without any effort, then, tell the fighters to solve their problem quietly, or take it outside. Most of the time, the fights were solved quiety, but they never continued in the pub.
There was a sudden shout down the street. Those who knew the voice looked up in shock. It was little Ay, Sethe's nephew. Sethe wasn't in the city at that time, due to some unknown business outside of the city, or Ay wouldn't be getting into trouble. Marik sighed as Yii looked out. "That way, Yii." Marik offered, pointing down the street, the way the soldiers had gone. Yii hurried away. It took Marik a second to realize that the soldiers had just gone that way. His eyes widened. "Pakhet! Yii's going to get into trouble very shortly!" He shouted before running after his friend at top speed, which was pretty fast.
Pakhet ran out from the pub. They were closed for the day, to bring in their newest shipment of stuff. Pakhet looked at the group. "Come on. I have a feeling we may be needed." She hurried after the other two. The pub staff followed. Everyone here stood up for everyone else, no matter the cost.

Ay, a little boy with pale brown hair, was being backed up against a wall by soldiers of the royal court. "You're famillar..." One said. His name was Khay, and he had stolen a boy named Baba from his home a year and a half ago. Ay was terrified.
"Let him alone!" Yii came to a stop behind the men. Ay, seeing his chance, hurried to slip past the men.
Khay, seeing this, grabbed the boy by an arm and jerked hard. The sound of cracking bone rang through the street, followed by Ay's cry of pain. "You're staying here, little brat." He warned.
"Bastard!" Marik came to a stop beside Yii. "Hurting an innocent child! Let him be!" He shouted. Yii's face was cold.
"This boy is a fugitive, little commoner! He is to be killed anyway!" Khay shot back.
"Why do you say he is a fugitive?" Yii asked calmly. His red eyes blazed angrily.
"Because, I know this boy. This is Baba, once a nephew to the late High Priest Seto." Khay informed the black-haired man, who already knew this. "I bet you never expected to have a traitor among you!"
Those who had run up, residents of the area and workers in the pub, gasped. The Pharaoh and his friends, including this boy, were dead. "He's no more a traitor than I, Khay." Yii said coldly. "He is my charge, and you'll let him go, or face the consequinces."
Khay narrowed his eyes. "You! You got me thrown in the dungeons!"
"Pity you weren't burnt with the rest of the palace..." Yii shrugged. "But, that can't be helped." He narrowed his red eyes. "Let him go!"
"Grab that man. He, too, is a traitor." Khay ordered his men.
"A year and a half we have lived in peace." Marik stepped between these men of Khay's and Yii. "A year and a half we have left you be. You call us traitors because of our past? You are fools for that!" Purple eyes narrowed. "You'll let Baba go and leave Yii alone! We have no ideas of destruction to your leader!"
"No." Yii's eyes shimmered in cold anger. "Malik, move aside. That's not true. I have every intention of regaining my throne. I'm tired of this. I'm disgusted, living here, under a false being's rule, because we are not brave enough to act. I'm the one you want to arrest. After all, it was me you were trying to kill." The cloth on his head burst, showing the crown that the man wore all the time, proving that he was the rightful ruler. The eye in the center of the circlet lit up. "Come and get me, if you dare."
Two men ran at the Pharaoh. Two men exploded. No more men ran at the Pharaoh. "Sire, please, stop. You said we would wait for Seto..." Malik tried.
The Pharaoh shook his head. "We are waiting, Malik. I'm just getting a small problem out of our way." The other men exploded, leaving only Khay. "Seto will be back this afternoon. We storm the palace then." The eye stopped glowing and the Pharaoh moved to one side. "Leave Baba and give your ruler the chance to run. You have three hours. If you have not left by then, you will die." He pointed in the direction of the palace, his face a sneer. "Get out of here."
Khay dropped Baba's arm and fled through the crowd. Malik and the Pharaoh immeadiatly ran to Baba's side. "Baba, are you alright?" Malik asked.
"I want Seto!" Baba sobbed.
"He'll be back soon." The Pharaoh stood and looked at Pakhet. "Pakhet, could you find someone to splint Baba's arm?"
Pakhet nodded and pointed to a woman in the crowd. The woman ran forward to help the boy. Pakhet just grinned. "I was wondering when you were going to lose your temper." She said calmly.
"You knew who they were, Pakhet?" Pamiuw asked the woman. "You knew and you housed them?"
"Yii, Sethe, and Malik have been my friends for years, child. I could not turn them away when they needed work and a place to stay." Pakhet looked back at the Pharaoh. "Yii, will you really storm the palace?"
Cold red eyes closed sadly. "I have no choice." The Pharaoh whispered. "My fate was laid out for me before I woke this morning. By tonight, I, Seto, Malik, and Bakura will all be gone. Baba is the Pharaoh." The red eye reopened. "There is nothing that can change that."
"Sire, you're kidding!" Malik cried.
"We'll all die, Malik. We have to, for Baba to have his rule." The Pharaoh said calmly.
"And, does Seto know this?" Malik asked angrily.
"I've told him. He is to tell Bakura." The Pharaoh looked at the other man coldly. "Accept what fate has in store for you, Malik. You have no choice."
"I always have a choice, sire." Malik replied coldly, advancing on the Pharaoh. "And, if I die and see you again in the future, I swear to Ra I'm taking you down."
The Pharaoh nodded. "So be it."

Two and a half hours later, Seto arrived with Bakura. Neither looked happy. "Yii, the man in the palace is getting away, damnit! Word on the street says that the old Pharaoh has returned." He shouted upon entering the pub.
Yii turned to look at his friend. "I know. I warned Khay that I was storming the palace in half an hour. Apparently, he took my warning to heart." His face was empty of any and all emotions. "Bakura, good to see you. You will be coming with, I suppose?" He asked the white-haired man next to Seto.
Bakura made a face. "Since this ruler is fleeing, are we to still all die, sire?" He asked.
Yii sighed. "Yes, Bakura." He shook his head, looking at Seto. "You are angry with me." He pointed out.
"Of course I'm angry! You promised to stay away from the guards!" Seto cried, ignoring all the others in the room. It was already obvious to him that all in the pub knew Yii for who he truly was.
"He didn't have a choice, Seto." Malik mumbled from a shadowed corner. "Khay grabbed Baba and was about to arrest him. Everyone in the city should now know that our Pharaoh still lives." His voice was dry, but when he said 'Pharaoh', he said it like a curse.
Seto looked at Malik sharply. "Grow up. Complaining about your death will get you nowhere, Malik."
Malik rolled his eyes. "I don't know about you and sire, but I wanted another couple years of fun." He growled. Again, he spoke of Yii like he was a curse.
Bakura rolled his eyes. "So, the royal spy has lost his courage." He gave a harsh laugh. "He also lost all of his skills. I've been the one doing all the spying lately!"
"You bastard!" Malik hissed. Pakhet's hand on his shoulder was the only thing that stopped him from running at the thief.
"Enough." Pakhet ordered. "Baba is sleeping. He needs his rest, and you know it." She looked up at Seto. "Baba recieved a broken arm from Khay." She explained to his questioning glance.
Seto looked at Yii quietly. Yii sighed. "I could do nothing, Seto. Do not give me that angry look, it is unnerving."
Seto sighed, then looked at Pakhet sadly. "May I wake him to say good-bye?" He begged. Pakhet nodded and the High Priest ran to the room the boy slept in.
Bakura walked over to sit with the Pharaoh. "So, am I calling you Yii, or sire, or what?" He asked lightly.
Yii sighed. "I don't care. As you can see, I seem to have many names, and not all are spoken aloud." He sent a sharp look at Malik, who flinched. "Which is probably a good thing." He added, looking down at the tabletop. "When Seto returns, we will leave. Did you get what I asked for?"
Bakura placed a bundle before the Pharaoh. "All of them. I'm surprised that fool up at the palace hasn't been using them."
"He probably doesn't know how to." Seto pointed out, walking back in. "I'm ready."
Yii opened the bundle and pulled out a few things. A small circle with a pyramid inside and little things hanging from outside it was handed to Bakura along with a small ball with an Egyptian eye coming from it. A gold ankh and a rod with the same ball that Bakura had at the top, but this one with blades coming from either side, were handed to Seto. Malik recieved a scale with the same ball in the center of it. Yii placed a gold necklace around his neck. He also placed a string with an upside down pyramid on it around his neck, then stood. "Let's go."
Bakura, Malik, Seto, and Pakhet nodded and followed the Pharaoh from the pub. Some of their friends in the pub looked to one another. Pamiuw was the first to speak. "They are our friends, and they have always been there for us. Should we not show the same kindness in return?"
"Let's go!" Another girl called. The group ran from the pub together, intent on catching up to the Pharaoh and his friends. Others in the area followed. The Pharaoh would indeed storm the palace. He was not alone. He was with thousands.
