…Awakened…
Seto violently ran up to the figure dressed in white who was passionately kissing his cousin. Before he got there, however, the figure had pivoted of their heels and ripped of the opaque white veil that was just moments ago covering their face.
“Anzu!” Seto called out with disgust.
Anzu smiled. “Why hello everyone. So I see that you all thought that you could trick me,” said the brunette as she held on tightly to Yami's hand.
Seto stared on in shock as did everyone else. “How did you—“
“I overheard you all talking one day,” Anzu said with a wave of her hand. “It wasn't a bad idea. But even though I had Yami under a spell, I didn't want to take the chance that Yugi could possibly break the spell with a kiss so I had to get him out of the picture,” said the brunette pointing over to the sea.
Seto looked over in the direction of her finger only to realize that Jou still didn't surface from the water. “Ryou, Malik, find them!” Seto ordered. Not even a minute later, Malik and Ryou had stripped themselves of their shirts and dived into the sea. Seto, Malik, and Bakura watched the movement in the water closely and, with each passing second, worry filled into their features.
Jou was at this moment pulling the chain attached to Yugi's ankle. It seemed like the harder he tried the heavier the weight at the end became. He looked from the chain to Yugi's face. The color began to leave his face. The blonde eyes filled with tears. What was he going to do? Yugi was going to die any second, and there was nothing that he could do about it. Not only that, but Jou began to feel the need to breathe. He couldn't last down here for much longer.
Jou slightly jumped when he saw two pairs of hands grab on to the chain as well and looked up to see Malik and Ryou pulling with all their strength.
On land, everyone kept their focus on the sea. Malik and Ryou had been under for about a minute and there was no sign of any of the boys.
“Shouldn't be long now,” Anzu said with a twisted smiled.
“Shut the fuck up, you bitch,” Bakura said. If Ryou didn't come back up in the next ten seconds then Anzu was going to die.
Moments later, Jou jumped out of the sea with Yugi in his arms, followed by Ryou and Malik, who were carrying a large weight. Jou quickly placed Yugi's limp body on the shore and began to shake him.
“Speak to me buddy! Come on! Speak to me,” Jou said frantically as he gently slapped Yugi's cheeks.
Bakura and Marik quickly ran up to the shore and stood next to Malik and Ryou as they watched Jou continue to try to talk to Yugi. Unfortunately, there was no response.
Seto looked on from his spot in front of Anzu and Yami. Anzu never looked so happy.
“Yugi is dead, Yami!” Seto said as he redirected his attention to the dull-eyed boy. Anzu just laughed.
“He doesn't care! He has me! Isn't that right, love?” Anzu said as she moved in to kiss Yami again. Her eyes widened in fear when she felt the ground below her disappear. She looked down to see Yami staring at her in anger with his hand grasped around her throat. The dull eyes were now a ferocious red.
“You bitch!” Yami said in his no longer mechanical voice. Yami looked from the girl that he held in the air by his hand to the lifeless body of Yugi in the distance. He quickly brought her close to his face and whispered dangerously: “If he's dead, then you are too.”
Yami wasted no time throwing Anzu down to the ground and running swiftly down to the shore where he pushed Jou off of Yugi and picked up Yugi's head as he kneeled down on the sand.
“Yugi?!” Yami said as tears began to fall creating small dark spots on the sand. Seto had walked up to the scene after he snapped out of his bewilderment after he had observed Yami regain his senses again. He clasped his hands around Jou who was sobbing. Malik and Ryou were also crying while Marik and Bakura looked down at the ground.
“No Yugi! Please! Please, don't leave me! I love you! I love you so much!” Yami said as he buried his head on Yugi's chest and cried. The small body was still limp and his features were lifeless. After Yami had sat on the sand for about five minutes rocking Yugi's body back and forth with tears rolling down his face, he reached out and gentle caressed Yugi's soft face.
“I love you Yugi. I will always love you,” Yami said before bending down and placing a small kiss on Yugi's lips. Yami then looked up at the sky, and saw the orange and purple colors clash as the sun began to set. He almost fell backwards when he heard a small weak voice call out his name.
“Yami?” Yugi said meekly.
“Yugi!” Yami shouted, looking down at the boy in his arms. “Yugi! You're alive! Oh my god, Yugi! I thought I lost you!” Yami said as he held Yugi tightly.
“Yugi!” Jou said happily as he helped Yami sit on the ground Yugi upright.
“Don't you ever do that again ya hear!” Jou said wiping the tears from his eyes. Yugi simply nodded and then looked around at everyone until his eyes fell back on Yami, who he pounced on quickly.
“Yami, you're back! You're not under that spell anymore!” Yugi said refusing to let go of Yami's neck in fear that this just might be a dream.
“No Yugi, I'm not,” Yami said returning Yugi's embrace. “And I'm so sorry…for everything.”
Yugi shook his head. “It wasn't your fault Yami.”
“Yeah but I know who's fault it was!” Jou said angrily as he focused his attention back to the alter only to see no one in sight.
“Where the fuck did she go?” Marik said viciously.
“Who? Me?” someone said with rage.
Everyone looked behind them to see Anzu holding a golden object high above his head.
“Another Millennium item!?” Malik said pointing at it.
“Grab it!” Seto ordered.
“It's too late!” Anzu said holding out her hand. “If I can't have Yami, then nobody can! And I'm sick of your meddling friends too! You all are going to die!” she screamed as she threw the item down to the ground and suddenly a black fog began to circle around Yugi, Jou, Malik, and Ryou.
A second later, the fog began to form into a cage and become metal. Before anyone knew it, the four cages rose into the air and flew over far into the sea. They floated over the water for only a moment, so that everyone on the shore could hear the helpless screams. The cages, holding the four panic stricken boys, then fell into the water and the screams vanished.
“Yugi!” Yami shouted.
They all refrained from killing Anzu. They didn't have time. So without a moment's hesitation, Yami, Seto, Bakura, and Marik dived into to the sea and quickly made their way to the very bottom of the sea. It felt like they were swimming forever when they finally spotted four objects below them. Knowing that they would run out of breath soon, they quickly swam to the top and took a long breath before swimming back down to the ocean floor.
Yugi was filled with fear. Not again. He could not drown again. He looked around at his friends as they all were banging hard on the cage bars. How could this happen? Why?
Yugi cried as he punched the cage door. That feeling of suffocation filled his mind once again. He then saw four people swimming up to them in the distance and soon realized Yami was leading the group.
Yami made his way to Yugi's cage and pulled on the door as hard as he could while the others did the same. Seto was frantically trying to break the cage that entrapped Jou apart as did Bakura and Marik to Ryou and Malik's cages. Yami reached out and touched Yugi's hand. What was he going to do? The cage wouldn't budge and it was without a doubt to heavy to carry alone. And by the time all four of them helped carry one of the cages to the shore, then the others would surely be dead.
Yami panicked when he saw Yugi's eyes begin to close. He looked around at any object that could be used to break through the cage and instead saw a gold object sparkle brightly behind a large rock. He quickly swam over and picked it up. He dusted the sand of it and looked at it suspiciously.
`The Seventh Item…' Yami said slowly to himself. He looked back at Yugi and then to the item again. What should he wish for? If he just wished them out of the cage, then they surely wouldn't make it back to the shore alive and if he wished them to be back on land then it might be too late for one of them. So…he wished for the only thing that he could think of…
