Chione ran blindly through the streets of Egypt, not caring where she went, just wanting to get away from her life. Suddenly a hand clamped over her mouth, and she was dragged into an alley. The man just stared at her; Chione realized that she wasn't wearing anything. Was this the way she was to die, after being raped she would have her throat slashed? To her immense surprise, the man merely dragged her along behind him, taking her through the alleys, and finally stopping before a door. He opened the door, and led her through passageways, until she ended up before another door, which in turn led into a dark room. The only light came from a single torch, burning on the wall. Its light flickered in the drafty room.

A voice emanated from the shadowed part of the room. The strange person stepped into the light of the lone candle, allowing Chione at last to see who it was.

"High Priest Seth," She breathed.

"Yes. I am so glad that Adio was able to meet up with you," he said, allowing his eyes to travel down her naked form.

She blushed a hot red, and looked away.

"Well, come on, it is time," he said, glancing at Adio and then at Chione.

"Time for what?"

"The sacrifice of course."

Chione's eyes widened as she realized what was about to happen. Seth took her by the arm and telling Adio to bring along the torch, he led her to a door hidden in the blackness of the room. The door opened to reveal a set of stairs leading upward. The candle's light spilled only on the first few stairs, disappearing into shadows as the stairs continued to ascend.

At last, she had gotten to the top of the seemingly endless staircase, and now they were on the Temple's roof. They stood on a flat surface, either side of them slanting of into darkness. A brisk wind blew around them, making Chione shiver violently. Her teeth chattered, and she wrapped her arms around her body, after all, she was still nude.

High Priest Seth stretched his arms up to the heavens as he began to pray loudly, his voice, booming.

"O Messenger of the Gods,

Hear my command

Take this offering which we give

And calm the Gods of our land.

O holy beast of ferocious might

Let the Gods send their light

Save our people from the doom

By banishing the shadows which now loom."

When Seth stopped, a loud roar of thunder sounded. A storm had sprung up, and lightning slashed the sky above. Although it was not apparent at first, a flapping of wings could be heard in the distance, and it slowly grew louder, as the beast, whatever it was drew closer. Soon it was just above them, and the powerful wings beat the air, causing the three of them to have to lie down and cling to the roof, in order to prevent themselves from being blown away by the wind created by the wings of this awesome creature. Chione peeked up, and the only thing she saw was two glowing eyes. Each many times larger than her hands.

"He has come."
