Chapter 2
Someone He Didn't Want to Follow
~*~
Seto looked up at his eldest son first and then to his other two. His gaze shifted to Bast from behind his three sons. He gave his assistant a weak smile. "The heir of my company will be…Aurora."
Aurora dropped his head, staring down at his feet. "…"
Jeto noticed his brother's grave expression. He smirked to himself, somewhat glad that his brother would suffer their father's fate. Jeto wasn't exactly sure if he was pleased with the decision though. Part of him really did want to take his father's place, but then he be weighed down with responsibilities he couldn't handle. His older brother was capable of taking care of everything, even his siblings. So why was Aurora disappointed?
Bast stared at the back of Aurora's head with compassion. He knew exactly how much Aurora despised becoming the heir of Kaiba Corp. However, that's how it worked…usually. The eldest child was handed down the industry, not another word said. Unless the proprietor wanted to bend the rules just a bit. He stared back at Seto and nodded, signifying that Mr. Kaiba had made the correct choice.
"Bast?" Seto started. "Could you guard the doors? I need to speak with my sons."
Bast bowed his head slightly, giving his respect and turned to leave.
Seto stared at his three sons with contentment. He couldn't be anymore proud of them, with the exception of Destin and Jeto acting childish every now and then. Nevertheless, that just came with part of being a kid. However, he didn't recall acting this way when he was their age. Joey did though. He could still remember that blonde child grinning and acting goofy in the elementary playground and then provoking the high school teachers with his antics and nonsense. He had already suspected Destin would grow to be like Joey. The preteen had gotten his first detention last week, so there was no doubt.
There was something unique about all three of them. Destin and Jeto belonged to Joey and Aurora belonged to Alister. However, none of them knew that. It even came as a surprise to Seto that he could become pregnant with…babies. He thought it was one of Gozaburo's disgusting deeds. The man always had something to experiment on, whether they were his foster sons or an animal; it was just something to relieve his boredom. In the end, it really didn't turn out to be the old man after all. Young men all over the globe were having children, excluding the straight ones. They probably could give birth too, but they wouldn't give anyone the time of day to try it with them.
When Seto found out he could become pregnant repeatedly he decided to use Joey's seed that the physicians took, before they placed him in the hyperbolic chamber. He missed Joey greatly, and the scar down his left eye and across his nose proved it. It was almost too tormenting to live in a world without his lover, but then came along Alister with his `love' speech. Seto would never understand how he fell for that bullshit.
Whenever the CEO thought about Joey, he always turned to Destin. Yes, Destin. The inane protagonist who's always there to back up a friend in need. He would most definitely end up like Joey Wheeler. His hair was a darker blonde than Joey's, but cut the same way. His eyes were a chocolate brown, and his skin tone was lightly tanned. He usually liked to wear his green top with a white, long sleeved shirt underneath, a pair of sky blue jeans, and his red and white sneakers to finish the ensemble.
Jeto was completely unusual between both of his brothers. His manner switched from Joey's to Seto's unusually quickly. Sometimes he would have his own, which was more intimidating than Seto's `all mighty' one. His hair was light brown and flowed freely down pass his shoulders, but cut at the top like Joey's as well. The tips of his sideburns touched his shoulder blades. Two black cat ears were perched on the sides of his head instead of human ears. Although, his hearing was just acute as that of a normal human's. His eyes were human, but then had narrow slits like a cat's. They were a beautiful green-blue, and had a fierce look about them that startled even the farthest uraby (1) when staring at it. His skin was pale from the lack of outside activities. He had a slender, black tail that worked just as well as a cat's, keeping his balance at high places or from falling over when someone pushed him. His figure wasn't what Seto would have expected. The teen had a better-built body than Joey, but his skin was a lot paler. He usually like to wear a blue and white, long sleeved shirt, a pair of cerulean colored jeans, and brown boots. He was the picture of improbability.
Aurora was normally the quite type and the logical one between Jeto and Destin. He wasn't cold hearted as his fathers were at their young age. Seto had made sure he'd grow up to be polite and liberal toward others.
Aurora's dark brown hair flowed down to his waists, but often kept up in a ponytail. His eyes were deep blue. However, the contours of his eyes were what reminded Seto that Aurora was Alister's son as well. He was darkly tanned, more so than Destin. His fashion sense in clothes was too eerily like Seto's. He wore a black western duster with the letters K and C at the chest for Kaiba Corp. and kept the top part closed while the rest flared out around his legs. Under it, he had a blood red sweatshirt. He had two black, leather straps around his right arm and two black leather gloves on his hands. He wore leg tight, gray jeans and black boots to match his duster. He was almost the perfect image of Seto Kaiba, almost too perfect.
After living for nineteen years without Joey, Seto had gone through a few changes. His once deep blue eyes had turn to icy sapphires. His complexion wasn't dark like it used to be. He had enclosed himself from the outside world, depending on his servants and friends to shop or take care of his sons for him. He had a fitness gym on the fourth floor of the building, which he visited every morning. Therefore, he was kept well toned. He wore a black, western duster, similar to the white one he had when he was eighteen. Spikes extended from the collar and shoulder sleeves, demonstrating how much in his taste of style had altered. Instead of his usual black sweater, he wore a white one. He wore skin tight, black leather pants and shin laced boots, which the heels gave him an inch more to his now 6'4 height.
"I know you didn't want this, Aurora. But you're the only one responsible enough to take care of this business when I'm gone," Seto stated.
Aurora remained silent.
Jeto looked over at his eldest brother. //Has the news given him that much damage? // He asked himself.
Destin leaned forward to stare at Aurora as well. "Aren't you going to say anything?"
Aurora finally looked up at his family and turned abruptly to leave. "I have nothing to say…except…I'll try my best."
Seto sat down in his recliner and folded his hands over his mouth on the desk and stared at a family portrait sitting next to his laptop. "I know you will, son." He watched the youth walk from the office, not uttering another word. He then looked at Jeto whom was looking at the spot where his brother was standing. "What's the matter, Jeto? You seem upset about something. Aren't you glad that your brother received the tribute, instead of you?"
Jeto concealed his eyes within the shadows of his bangs. He gave a small grin from the side of his mouth and smirked. "Do you want me to lie?"
The CEO mustered an eyebrow and leaned back in his seat. "No, not really."
"Then, no. I'm not glad, father," Jeto stated bluntly.
Destin blinked, not really sure he heard correctly. Wasn't this his older brother who'd have rather had a free life than be held down by responsibilities of a business? It wasn't like Jeto to be envious of anyone, not even Aurora.
"Then, what's the problem?" Seto asked.
Jeto looked up at his father, giving him a feral grin. "I just can't see my big brother taking your place as head of Kaiba Corporation. I'll just admit it. I'd be better suited for the job. At least I'd be looking forward to it."
Seto and Destin both winced from the response.
There was Jeto's own behavior; peeking its ugly head to ensnare some defenseless cuss.
"Would you now?" Seto sneered.
