Chapter 13

Slaughtered Feelings

---------

The next morning seemed to pass by slowly for the Kaiba family, with the exception of one Kaiba.

Jeto ran from room to room, straightening anything that needed straightened. He mumbled every now and then when he looked at the clock. “He'll be here any minute…and I haven't got time to rest.”

Joey watched from the safety of his recliner, sneaking small glances at Seto to see if he was noticing any of this. Suddenly, he couldn't handle the question that was gently tugging on his intellect. “Seto? What's wrong with Jeto?”

Seto looked up at his lover, as if astounded to see Joey clear across the room instead of sitting right beside him. He then averted his gaze upon his anxious feline son. He smiled thoughtfully. “It's Jeto's first friend. He just wants to make sure everything is perfect.” The CEO let out a soft chuckle. “Sort of like I did when you and I first started going out.”

Joey blushed. “Yeah, I remember that. Sometimes I think you went a little overboard with it.”

“I agree! However, I did it because I loved you,” Seto responded softly.

“I love you too!” Joey left the recliner to sit next to his older lover on the sofa.

Seto wrapped his arm around the blonde's shoulders and kissed him just above his ear.

“Doesn't Jeto have any other friends?” Joey asked considerately.

The man shook his head and sighed. “When Jeto was younger, he used to go to a public school, but the older children taunted him and molested him.” He lowered his head in regret. “One day, he didn't come home because some of those children had beaten him and hung him up on a fence post, wanting him to be eaten by anything that came along.”

Joey gasped. “I've noticed that there are others like him. Did they go through the same torture?”

Seto nodded solemnly. “Yes. That's when schools all over Japan started to lend money to families for home schooling. They were very appreciative. I was neutral on the decision.”

“Why's that? It helps protect your son.”

“It keeps him from socializing, having friends,” Seto explained. “That's when I decided to keep his brothers home, so he'd have someone there to talk to when he felt alone.”

Joey glanced at his son still walking room from room with quick ease. “I've noticed that he doesn't get along with Aurora very well. Why is that?”

Seto laughed. “It's always been like that. It's like Jeto senses something about his older brother. It's as if he knows Aurora isn't his real brother, but he can't see that.”

Joey smiled weakly and smirked. “Even though Aurora isn't my real son, I still think of him as my own. Is that bad?”

“No, of course not.” Seto shook his head as he forced Joey to straddle his lap. “I've never seen Aurora so happy when you're around. It's like his cold barrier fell from around his heart. He's more opened to the world around him.”

“I did all that, huh?” Joey giggled as he pressed his and Seto's lips together. “Can we have fun tonight when all the kids are asleep?”

Seto purred as he lifted Joey's chin and planted butterfly kisses all over the boy's neck.

“Is that a…yes?” Joey hissed appreciatively.

The brunet bit down gently against the soft flesh and then licked it apologetically.

Both the CEO and teen jumped to someone clearing their throat with aggravation. “Considering you're both my parents, I hope you're not going to use THAT to embarrass me, Jeto grumbled.

Joey laughed as he retreated from Seto's grip to clasp on to Jeto. “So you're saying I can embarrass you any other way except making out with your father?”

Jeto nodded reluctantly.

Seto smiled amusedly. “This should be interesting.”

Joey started tickling Jeto's cat ears when the doorbell rang.

“That's him!” Jeto perked, pulling away from Joey's hands to answer the door.

Seto stood up, approached the stairs, and stopped at the foot. “Aurora! Destin! Come on you two!”

“Alright, dad!” Destin replied eagerly.

Aurora only sighed as he closed the door behind him. He was already leaving the room to get a snack before his father called, but all the better now that Jeto's 'friend' was here. He smirked when Destin ran passed him and down the stairs.

Destin was always excited to meet someone new. More opportunities to make friends, Aurora supposed.

As soon as Destin and Aurora were downstairs, Jeto walked up with Tet following close behind. “Guys! I'd like you to meet, Tet. Tet, these are my parents, Seto and Joey. These are my brothers, Destin and Aurora,” Jeto pointed out.

Tet nodded to each of them in greeting.

/I knew it! / Seto closed his eyes, trying not to think how all of this happened.

Joey noticed how much Tet and Aurora resembled each other, but remained silent.

Tet's gaze suddenly locked on to Aurora's, as if ready for a mental showdown. “You must be the one that Jeto had me confused with.” The auburn teen sneered. /He's my twin brother. Popwas right. He does look a lot like me. /

Aurora felt flustered. “…” He stared at Jeto for an explanation of what Tet meant.

Jeto sweatdropped. “It's…nothing brother. It was just a misunderstanding…that's all.”

Joey felt heated apprehension crawling up his spine as he observed Tet and Aurora's electric glares. “Eh…why don't we start on lunch, huh? It's getting cold.” He walked into the dining room, Seto and Destin were right at his heels and the other three walked beside each other a few feet behind Seto, the tension between Tet and Aurora becoming unbearably thick, including for Jeto who was walking between them. Joey allowed Destin to walk ahead of them as he turned to his lover. “What's going on here, Seto?”

Seto didn't respond. He remained focused on reaching the dining room and getting through lunch without any problems.

The blonde snorted. “Just for that, you ain't gettin' no lovin' tonight.” He suddenly became aware that Seto wasn't even registering the words in his head. He sighed irritably.

---

The lunch was very quiet, with the exception of Destin tapping his spoon against his plate with boredom. He jumped when his father finally spoke.

“So, Tet, where do you go to school at?”

Tet looked up stunned. He obviously didn't expect Seto to talk to him, letting alone look at him. “Well, uh…I have home schooling.”

“How far along are you from finishing?” Seto asked, taking a bite of his finger sandwich.

Tet turned to Jeto whom was busy trying to shrink down into his seat. Tet smiled at the other's failed attempt of trying to hide. “I don't have that much to go. Pop says that I have a few more history and math lessons to go through and I'll be finished.”

Seto smiled slightly to the moniker Tet has given his father. He took another bite of his sandwich and looked at Aurora who was sitting on his left and nibbling on a piece of garlic bread stick. “How far along are you, Aurora? Aren't you just finishing up with science and literature?”

Aurora gazed at his father unfazed. “Yes, of course.” He then peered at Tet on the far end of the table, receiving a small, sinister smile. He blinked and quickly looked away.

Joey sighed, glad that the tight atmosphere of the room was lightening up a bit, with the exception of the short eye contact between Tet and Aurora. He smiled when he noted the faint blush across Jeto's cheeks. “Hey, Jeto. Why don't you show your friend around the manor when we're done?”

Jeto looked up at his dad. “What? Uh…”

“Oh, maybe some other time. I have to get back to work soon,” Tet interrupted. “This is the best lunch I've ever had though. Thanks for letting me join you all.”

/At least Alister taught the boy some courtesy. / Seto thought to himself. “Tell me, Tet, where do you work?”

Tet was silent for a moment before reconsidering his answer. “I'm a…Chimera slayer.”

There was a minor flinch in Seto's direction. The CEO stood up from his seat and placed both his hands on each side of his plate, his fingers invisibly clinching the tablecloth. “I appreciate having you here, Tet. We hope to have you over again real soon.”

Tet leered mentally. /Yeah right, father! /

They all piled out of the dining room and into the hallway to greet their guest farewell.

Seto opened the door and allowed Tet to walk out first before following.

Jeto was about to ask what he was doing, but the door blocked him from any contact.

Joey came up from behind his son and wrapped his arm around the neko's shoulders. “Don't worry kiddo. I'm sure Seto just wants to get to know him better.”

---

Aurora waited on the bottom step of the porch for his father.

“A Chimera Slayer?” Seto asked from the top of the porch, glowering down at his son with disappointment. “You realize that's a dangerous job? Further more, you're friends WITH a Chimera that's your half-brother!” He growled.

“Your son isn't a Chimera…yet.” The teen smirked amusedly. “I met him in the park yesterday while I was hunting down a black Chimera panther. I had no idea who he was until he mentioned Aurora, but that didn't change the fact that he could have been that dangerous panther I was looking for.”

Seto grunted. “For your information, Jeto is not a panther. He's a cat.”

“And I realize that now, by the way he acts. He's very cute.” Tet glanced at Seto from over his shoulder.

The man stiffened from Tet's remark. “Get a grip, Tet! He's your brother!”

Tet laughed. “I just thought I'd point that out.” He noted the frown on his father's face. It wasn't one from disgust, but from dissatisfaction. He forced a grin against his lips. “What's wrong? I thought you'd be proud of me. Pop is.”

“That's because he's an idiot!” Seto affronted.

Tet cringed from the comment. “Wow! I guess you really do hate Pop.” He sighed in antipathy as he started down the sidewalk.

The CEO's gaze softened as he watched his son leave the primacies. “Tet…I don't hate your father. He just makes me angry at the decisions he has sometimes. That's all.”

Tet paused in his stride and peered at Seto. “That's good to hear!” He smiled affectionately and went on his way.

Seto smiled in return after his son disappeared down the street. He then walked back into the house just to confront Jeto.

“What did you ask him?” Jeto asked, feeling a pout coming on.

Seto blinked. “I just wanted to talk with him, that's all.” He kissed Jeto on the forehead and entered the living room to sit on the sofa where Joey was relaxing with Destin. Aurora was in the recliner reading a book, ignoring the undeserved gaze his second youngest brother was giving him.

Jeto let out a soft grunt as he placed his hands against his hips. “Call me when supper is ready. I'm going to be in my room for the rest of the day.”

“Okay,” Seto said as he pulled Joey and Destin close to him.
