Chapter 19

You'll Never Know

A/N: I've made a gift to you once again for all the nice reviews. http://www.deviantart.com/view/15023581/ It's of Osiris in his chimera form!

“I can't believe I allowed you to take care of Aurora, Seto!” Alister exclaimed at his x-husband.

Luckily, they were standing away from the burial grounds so no one could hear them argue, or so they thought.

Seto grunted as he pointed at Alister's chest and pushed him back away from his face. “It's not my fault that he carries your genes of recklessness.”

“You think it was my fault?” Alister grumbled.

“If the shoe fits, honey!” Seto sneered at the last bit as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Joey was listening to the two exchange spiteful words with each other. He slightly winced when Alister cursed Seto for accusing him of their son's death.

Destin hugged Joey's side tightly and whimpered.

Tet stood on the other side of Destin. He also listened to his fathers' conversations with remorse. He couldn't believe they were saying these things about his own twin brother while he was now in ashes and fixing to lie six feet underground. He absently rubbed his right shoulder and arm that the lion had attacked. With the latest in laser technology, the physicians were able to mend his wounds without surgery. However, they still tinged with pain. He had done what Hasunuma told him to do with Osiris' burial, but it seemed more appropriate if they sent the body back to Egypt.

Yugi, Sugoroku, and Raphael stood behind them, while Mokuba and Bakura stood off to their left.

Bast and Anui stood over Aurora's grave, gently lowering the vase of ashes into the hole.

Away from the burial, Alister had broken down into tears and fell into Seto's arms.

Seto sighed in defeat as he caressed Alister's hair and back. “I'm sorry…I didn't mean it.”

“I'm sorry too. I don't know what made me say those things. Aurora was `our' son. Don't you think it was partly both our faults?” Alister sniffled and slowly pulled away from Seto's chest to look at him in the eyes.

Seto nodded. “Yeah.” He broke their eye contact as he stared at Joey who was looking away with a solemn expression that wasn't fit for the dead. He gently pushed Alister away and indicated that they should return to Aurora's funeral.

“Have you heard from Jeto?” Alister asked softly.

Seto shook his head. “No one has.”

“I see.” Alister said sympathetically. “I hope you find him.”

Seto parted from his x and approached his lover. “Joey? Are you okay. You look like you've seen a ghost.” He wrapped his arm around the blonde teen's shoulder and kissed the side of his head.

Joey chuckled nervously. “No, of course not. I was just thinking.”

“Thinking about what? Aurora?” Seto stared at Joey with concern.

“…No…I'll tell you later.” Joey moved away from Seto and walked to the limo they had come in.

An hour later, Tet was the only one standing over Aurora's grave. He knelt by the tombstone and gazed at the carvings that said nothing special, other than `Here lies a beloved son and brother.' His eyes shifted to something sitting up next to the slab of stone. It was a locket shaped like a duel monster card. He picked it up and opened it. His breath caught in his throat as he gazed at the picture of Joey and the encryptions written in red, `Rest in Peace brother. Love, Jeto.' Tet immediately got to his feet and scanned the cemetery for that one familiar face he would hope to see peeking out from behind a headstone or bush. “Jeto? Jeto, where are you?”

Only silence replied.

Tet heaved a heavy sigh and closed the locket then sat it back where he had found it. He gingerly caressed the top of the headstone before returning to Alister's truck.

One year later…

“And now for the Chimera Tournament we have all been waiting for!” The female announcer, Ten, exclaimed cheerfully into the microphone. “For our first competitors, we have Quartz, the ram on my left!” She waited for the crowd to finish their applauding before she pointed out the next opponent. “On my right, we have Jeto, the black cat!” There was even a louder chorus of applauding for Jeto.

Jeto grinned arrogantly as he waved back to the crowd, earning another round of cheering.

Quartz grunted through his nostrils. “They won't be cheering like that for very long when I'm done with you!”

“Really? I'm the Chimera Battle Champion. You better not hold your breath!” Jeto sneered.

Quartz was twice as big as him, muscle, and height wise. He carried tightly curved horns on top of his head to show how much more intimidating he was.

“Come on big guy. Let's see what'cha got!” Jeto urged with a bit of a hiss in his tone.

The ram kicked the dust up from behind him as he lowered his head, ready to butt Jeto out of the ring.

Jeto's cat eyes narrowed as he slouched and flung his claws out.

The announcer looked from her left to right nervously, feeling the tension between the two animals. However, she knew Jeto like the back of her hand when it came to battling. For a cat, he was very impatient and would attack before the count down would finish. Why they never disqualified him was beyond her. “On the count of five!” She quickly leaped from the ring and yelled, “FIVE!”

“What?” Quartz questioned, startled from the girl's outburst.

“Too slow!” Jeto grinned as he quickly raced up and gave a hard, round house kick to the ram's face, sending him out of the ring with a thud. The cat laughed up at the sky. “You should never get sidetracked when in battle, Quartz!”

Quartz groaned in pain. “Damn it, Jeto! That was unfair!”

“Ha!” Jeto snorted. “Quit whining.”

Ten jumped back onto the ring and held up Jeto's arm. “Our all time champion!”

The crowd let out a loud cheer and repeatedly started rooting his name. “Jeto! Jeto! Jeto! Jeto!”

Jeto bowed to his fans and started back to his side of the battle arena. “Who's my next opponent, Ten.” He asked as he removed his shirt and threw it to the ground.

Ten waited until another participant entered the ring.

A male teen with white wolf ears and tail leaped up in front of Ten, startling her. “I'm next.”

Ten glowered at the wolf when he smirked. “Now, for our next fight!” She pointed her finger up into the air. “Mercury, the white wolf, versus, Jeto, the black cat.” Once again, she was out of the ring in a flash. “Five…” she yelled.

The shout didn't surprise Mercury as it had Quartz. He remained composed with his arms crossed and watched as the black cat watched him in return. “Well?”

“Guests first!” Jeto smiled.

Unlike Quartz, Mercury was smaller, same height as Jeto and maybe just as muscular. His icy blue eyes flashed from the cat's response and took a step forward. “What's the matter? Want to see how fast I move so you can have an advantage?”

Jeto cocked his head. “No, I already know how fast you move. I've battled many wolves like you in the past. You all move at the same pace to me,” he exasperated. “You just sound so confident that you'll beat me. I just thought I'd let you go first.”

Mercury growled irritably. “Why, you…” He lunged forward as if he was flying through the air with his claws outstretched. “You're going down, cat!”

“Oh, really?” Jeto remained serene until Mercury was practically on top of him and jumped into the air.

Mercury landed on his hands and knees, almost falling out of the ring. “Blast it! Where did that feline go?” He looked left and right and then behind him.

“Why don't you look up?” Jeto sneered.

The wolf gasped as he peered up at the highflying cat.

Jeto grinned before he drove his foot into Mercury's back, forcing him to lie flat on his stomach and practically crush his spine.

Jeto did a flip, landing on his right hand and then on both his feet. “Well, wolfy? The way you were acting, I was sure you had a plan goin'. Guess I was wrong,” he mocked as he shrugged.

Ten counted the wolf out and announced Jeto as the winner once again.

“That…cat…isn't human I tell ya…,” Mercury groaned.

Two medics immediately carried Mercury off, leaving Jeto to laugh disdainfully.

“I bet you can't beat me,” a soft voice defied.

Jeto gazed at his challenger with a frown. The other had a hooded cloak covering his form, and stood much shorter than Jeto did. The cat knew it was another teen, but the figure was familiar somehow. Something told him he shouldn't underestimate this shadowed figure. “You think you can defeat me?”

The figure nodded once. “I don't think. I know.”

Jeto smiled. “Finally, an opponent worth fighting.”

“Um…” Ten started. “May I ask your name what you are?”

The shorter teen was silent for a moment. “Call me Eros…and I'm a…”

“Enough!” Jeto commanded. “Let's start this fight!”

Ten winced from the cat's outburst. “Uh…yes…of course. Just don't eat me.”

Jeto snorted.

Eros chuckled a bit.

“Eros, the…something, versus Jeto, the black cat!”

There was a roar of applauding and then a shout of 'Five'.

Eros made the first move, starting out with a flying kick.

Jeto awkwardly grinned as he waited for the blow.

To Be Continued

A/N: Mwhahahaha! I just love fight scenes! XD

Who's the shadowed figure, and further more, why does Jeto think he's so familiar? And…no…it isn't Destin. -.-

That's why I'm creating the contest right now. It should only be a two-day thing…I hope.

Okay. First off, the character is definitely a male and he's the son of Pegasus and Duke. Don't mouth me! I adore this couple. Hee hee!

Here are the questions I want you to answer.

1. What kind of animal is he? Surprise me, because I'll be expecting `wolf' and `ram'. -smirks- It has to be something…not ugly…Oo;
2. What color should his hair be? Considering he's Pegasus and Duke's son…I don't know which color to choose. I like them both. I want your opinion though. Weather it be black, silver, or some f-ed up mess. XD
3. How should he put up his hair? I could try to do Duke's style…but his is just as simple as Pegasus'. -.-;;;
4. Should he have some kind of crush on Jeto or not? It'd be funny because Jeto would feel awkward, considering his own half-brother has a crush on him.

Okay, that's all the questions. If you win I'll mail you a picture of his character…in chimera form. No, not email, snail mail. XP

I'll wait for two OR MORE reviews in order to choose.
