Pegasus thought he had found the prefect place to hide. The library was quiet and calming. Hiding there had been a stroke of brilliance. He had a chance to calm down, as well as a chance to catch up on his reading. His pile of comics had grown quite large since the last time he had been there. He had been too busy trying to win over Seto to pay much attention to the stack.
He was halfway though a graphic novel when he heard the library door open. He assumed it was one of his staff. They were forever interrupting him when he read. Yet, the visitor didn't introduce himself. Instead, he stopped right behind Pegasus's chair. The businessman knew who it was by the shadow, and by the strange shiver down his spine. He wondered if he was always going to react like that whenever Seto entered a room.
He had a feeling he was. But right now, he was trying to avoid the boy. He chose to ignore him. If he could pretend the teen wasn't there, maybe he could convince himself it was true. Surprisingly enough, it worked. It worked until he heard a muffled giggle from behind him.
Pegasus turned in his chair to look up at the younger man. The boy's hair was still slightly damp. His face was impassive. It was strange. He had sworn he had heard Seto giggle. Sighing lightly, he returned to the comic.
“I see your still here, Kaiba-boy. Whatever for? I thought you were just dying to escape.” As he talked, he flipped back to a really funny section. It was chock full of really bad sight gags.
“You still have my brother. “ Came the stoic reply.
“Are you sure that's the only reason, Kaiba-boy?” He baited. Then he heard it again. That stifled laugh. It had to be his angel.
The boy went on the defensive. “What? Do I need another?”
Pegasus didn't want Seto to go to battle stations just yet. Instead, he flipped to another page. This page was much worse than the last one.
Seto couldn't help but laugh. He was suddenly very angry with himself for it. Here he was trying to be serious, and he was laughing at some really stupid, childish pun. But instead of letting that anger eat away at him, the youth laughed it off.
Pegasus tired to hide a smile. He could tell Seto wasn't used to laughing. The boy probably hadn't laughed in a long time, or ever for that matter. But when he glanced up at the boy, the teen's face could have been carved from stone. Only those impossibly blue eyes betrayed him.
“You know, it's not a crime to laugh, Kaiba-boy.” He put the book down to give the boy his full attention. He knew for Seto it probably had been a crime. He had a feeling Seto had been beaten for showing any emotion at all.
The teen leaned over the back of the chair to pick up the comic. He flipped to a page at random. Quickly, he scanned the page. “It is a crime. Especially when you're laughing at something so--so-” His mask of detachment was cracking. A brief smile flickered across his face. Pegasus could definitely hear the sound of forced back laughter.
The businessman took the book and flipped to another page. This had the worse pun he had ever seen. Even he was having trouble keeping straight face. It seemed Seto couldn't fight it either. Through peels of laughter, the boy managed to choke out. “That is the most sophomoric thing I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.”
Pegasus had thought Seto was handsome before. When he was angry, his angel was dead sexy. Laughing, his Seto was almost too gorgeous for words. He smiled at the boy. His beautiful angel was playing right into his hands. “Then why are you laughing at it?”
“Because it's so stupid.”
Pegasus made a very theatric performance of closing the comic and tossing it on the table. “Well, I suppose it is. I won't waste any more of my time on -- What did you call it? That's right. I have better things to do than be bothered with such sophomoric humor.”
Seto looked like he wanted to retrieve the book. “But...But..” He started, unsure of himself.
Hook, line and sinker. “Don't stammer. It's unbecoming. If you have something to say, Kaiba-boy, just say it.”
“It was just getting interesting.” Seto blurted out. Then he flushed a brilliant shade of red.
“I win.” Pegasus whispered to himself. He plucked the comic off the table and re-opened it. “Well, in that case, would you like to finish it together?”
Seto's flush faded, and with it, his smile. That mask was going back into place. “There's nowhere to sit.” He hadn't expected for Pegasus to call his bluff. The man confidently moved his arm from the armrest to pat it.
“Why, would you look at that, Kaiba-boy. I think I might have found you a spot.” He winked at the teen. Seto glared at him. He fully expected a scathing remark to follow the look. It didn't. The teen seated himself and leaned forward to get a better view. He could tell by the way the teen was sitting, Seto was precariously off balance.
Pegasus reached behind the boy, tapping him lightly on the back. Totally off center, the teen started to fall. Pegasus wasn't about to let Seto hit the ground. He caught the teen and pulled the boy firmly into his lap. One hand still held the comic. The other traveled to cup Seto's chin. Slowly, he titled his face up. He knew how easy it would be to take advantage of this situation. He leaned forward just enough that he could easily give Seto a kiss, if he so desired.
“Now isn't this a lot better than some armrest, Kaiba-boy?” That put him on the receiving end of another one of those sexy glares. Then the stare down ended with Seto looking towards the book again. The room was plunged into an awkward silence. Every, once in a while a page would flip.
Then Seto hesitantly broke the silence. “Pegasus?” He muttered.
“What is it, Kaiba-boy? Finished with the page already?”
“I just--” He trailed off. “Oh, never mind. It's nothing.”
Pegasus nuzzled into his angel's hair. “When said in a tone like that, it's usually something. So what's on your mind, Kaiba-boy?”
“Could I-” he started tentatively.
Pegasus was no longer interested in the comic book. He liked having the teen on his lap. Though he rather be holding Seto, he would wait. He had already pushed his angel once today. You pushed Seto Kaiba too far and he pushed back. He knew that from experience.
The boy shifted in his lap, to look at him. He reached up to brush the hair away from his hidden eye. That scared Pegasus. He knew the Millennium Eye was strange to look at. But his fears were put to rest quickly. Seto didn't look disgusted, or frightened by it. In fact, he didn't' really seem to notice it at all. He hoped the boy also wouldn't notice the erection slowly springing to life, brought about by the boy's shifting. He cursed silently. His Seto was just too damned sexy for his own good.
“Could you what?” He prompted.
“Could I call you Maximillion?” He seemed unsure of the request. Unsure and frightened. He must be afraid that Pegasus would hurt him for having the audacity to ask such a thing.
Pegasus beamed down at his angel. “I would be honored of you would call me that, Seto.” He saw the teen's relieved smile before Seto returned to the comic.
Seto seemed to melt into the body warmth, practically curling up in his lap in an effort to get comfortable. Pegasus tried to return to reading as well. He couldn't. He was too distracted by the other man. He silently prayed to everything he could think of for control. He didn't know if the gods had heard his plea or not. All he knew was he wouldn't be able to hold himself back much longer. He was dangerously close to breaking down right now, and making love to the teen where they sat.
