Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Hostile Takeover ❯ Death For The Dead ( Chapter 47 )
Shadow of Light: Yami will kick Yami's ass. I'll bring Umi back when the kids relocate to another school.
Lady Elfskye: Yami can't escape Aria.
Dragondreamer: Oh yes you are. You are that bad. "JUST HOOK IT TO MY VEIN!"
Malik Lover and Bakurasgirl worshipper: Aten loves applesauce. Aria will kick his royal butt.
Ryou's Mistress: I don't watch those types of movies even though that movie sounds good.
IYYASHI: Aten and Robbie will never be able to be separated.
Elizabeth Marie Rose: Aten and Robbbie are cute as a couple. Umi will get back to Aria when they switch schools.
Amane Bakura: Aria is going to kick Yami's butt. And she is going to do it well.
Maruken: *hands Bakura plushie* There you go. That will take care of any headaches. Aria is more like Bakura than Aten is like Marik. Aten's more like his mother. Funny, huh?
Cryptic Broken Moon: Well, I try to stick some humor into my fics with the angst. Too much angst takes away. Humor relieves it. I just can't fit Anzu Bashing in. Tristan and Otogi have taken care of the humor part of it for me.
Death for the Dead
Yami saw Ryou's car stop in front of the Game Shop. He took the keys from his pocket and locked the cash register. Yugi rolled his eyes.
"Yami, you don't have to lock the cash register! It's only Ryou!"
Yami raised a suspicious eyebrow when he saw Ryou remove Aria from the car. Aria looked into the Game Shop window, her little spiky hair twitching with severe irritation. "Correction, Aibou: It's Ryou and the spawn of the tomb-robber."
Yugi pushed Yami back. "Her name is Aria, Yami! She never did anything to you!"
Yami glared down at his Light. "You think so, huh, Yugi? That child is destined to fight me, Yugi. She has tried once before to destroy the world. She will try again."
Ryou and Aria walked into the Game Shop followed by Robbie and Miranda. Robbie's eyes widened at the array of duel monster cards.
"Wow! This place is so neat!"
Aria lifted her head defiantly towards Yami. "Auntie Yami!"
Yami sneered at the little girl. "What do you want?"
"I want my daddy back! My daddy is sick!"
Yami crossed his arms angrily. "Your father committed a crime and is where he belongs!"
Ryou narrowed his eyes. "Yami, Bakura is very sick in his soulroom! He collapsed! I could feel him screaming through my mindlink! He was in a great deal of pain! I need him back! He needs to get out of there!"
Yami grinned. "So, he has the Soulroom Sickness, hmm? What a shame," Yami rolled his eyes.
Ryou raised an eyebrow. "'Soulroom Sickness?' What is that?"
"When I forced him back into his soulroom, it weakened his energy. Instead of becoming stronger as he stays in his soulroom, he gets weaker and weaker. His energy will soon fade."
Ryou's lip trembled. "What happens then?"
Yami grinned. "That's death for the dead."
Ryou covered his mouth and gripped onto Miranda. "No, Yami! Please! Get Bakura out of there!"
Aria went to Robbie. "Distact Unkie Yugi, Robbie. I need to get Unkie Yugi's Minimum Pussle."
Robbie went to Yugi and asked to see a binder of single cards for sale. Aria sneaked behind Yugi and grabbed the Puzzle. She looked up and saw Yami grabbing Ryou's shirt angrily.
"You can live without him, Ryou! He's nothing but a common thief!"
"I love that common thief! He is my husband and we have a daughter together!"
Yami growled. "She won't be with you much longer, Ryou! Not if I can help it!"
Aria grabbed the chain around Yugi's neck as the Sennen Eye appeared on her forehead. With her teeth, she snapped the chain holding the Millennium Puzzle.
Aria dodged under Yugi's arm and ran to Yami.
"AUNTIE YAMI!" Aria screamed out.
Yami and Ryou looked down to see the three-year-old chibi holding the Millennium Puzzle in the air. Miranda, Robbie, and Yugi stood amazed. The chibi had assumed her yami-form.
Her brown eyes darkened to black with red streaks. Her white hair was spiked more than usual and twitched. The Sennen Eye appeared on her forehead and a deep, vicious growl emanated from her throat.
Aria's canines sharpened.
"What are you doing with my Puzzle, kid?" Yam asked angrily.
"Let my daddy out of my mommy's head this instant or I will shatter the Puzzle, trapping you in your soulroom!"
Ryou gasped. Aria's speech was more advanced! The Sennen Eye glowed red on Aria's forehead.
"I'll shatter it, pharaoh! I swear to Ra, I will shatter it if you don't let my daddy out right now!"
Yami released Ryou and stepped in front of Aria. "You trap me in there and your daddy will die for certain! So go ahead and shatter the Puzzle, Aria!! I will still get what I want even if I am destroyed in the process!"
Aria growled. "Let my daddy out, Yami!"
Yugi slowly approached Aria and she stepped back, growling at the Light. Yugi reached for her and her teeth barely missed him.
"I'll bite you, Unkie Yugi! I don't wanna, but I will if Yami doesn't do what I say!"
Yami chuckled. "You should be thanking me for getting your Unkie Seto out of the Shadow Realm."
Ryou and Aria exchanged quick glances. "What do you mean?" Ryou asked.
"I rescued Seto from the Shadow Realm."
"You were there? Did you look for Aten?"
Yami looked down with contempt at the chibi holding the Puzzle hostage. "No. And I knew he was there before he left the Shadow Realm."
Ryou and Yugi growled at the former pharaoh. "WHAT?!"
Ryou gripped onto Miranda's hand hard. "You KNEW my son was there and you did NOTHING? HOW COULD YOU?!"
Yugi clenched his fists angrily. "You knew from the instant Aten entered the Shadow Realm that he was there?"
Yami nodded. "I could sense a mortal child in the Shadow Realm. But, I didn't find any reason to investigate. It's not like Aten was in any real danger. The Shadow Realm is not dangerous."
Ryou stepped up to Yami and punched him in the face. "Not dangerous? My three year old son was kidnapped, abused, assaulted, raped and nearly killed and you call that not dangerous? You knew he was there and you did nothing! How can you sleep at night knowing you are the cause of his pain?"
Yami shrugged. "Not my problem."
Yugi stood by Yami's side. "You went too far, Yami! Give Bakura back to Ryou now!"
Yami growled and his Sennen Eye appeared on his forehead. The Ring glowed and Bakura appeared on the floor, thin and naked. Robbie and Miranda stared in amazement as Bakura appeared out of no where.
Ryou kneeled in front of Bakura, touching Bakura's shoulder. "'Kura?"
Bakura's body trembled and his breath came in sharp gasps. Bakura opened his eyes, but there was no recognition of his surroundings. Aria ran to her father's side and kneeled by his chest. "Daddy?"
Aria looked at her father's thin, frail frame. He looked as if he had wasted away from hunger, his eyes were sunken and his bones were prominent.
Robbie ran to Miranda, afraid of the sight of the sick yami. Miranda cuddled Robbie against her, protectively.
"Bakura has made my life and my immortal existence unbearable! Now is my chance to get rid of him forever."
Yami extended his open palm to Bakura's fallen body. A dark ball of energy grew in his hands as Bakura lay twitching and gasping on the floor.
"NO! YAMI!" Ryou stood up and grabbed Yami's arm, pulling on it violently. "Don't hurt my husband!"
"He's weak enough for me to kill, Ryou! Let go!"
Yami aimed at Bakura's head and Ryou pulled Yami's arm up. The dark energy ball hit the wall.
Aria growled turning to Yami. "How dare you hurt my daddy! Let's see how you enjoy being forced back into your soulroom!"
"ARIA!" Yugi screamed as Aria raised the Puzzle above her head.
Aria dodged Yami's grip as he reached for her. Aria jumped behind Bakura. "This is for hurting my daddy and letting my brother get hurt!"
Aria lifted the Millennium Puzzle and smashed it against the wall, scattering the pieces as they flew. Yami let out a scream and disappeared.
Miranda and Robbie looked around. "Where did he go?"
Yugi went to the shattered pieces and picked tem up solemnly. He stared at the pile of pieces in his hand. Yugi sighed sadly. "Let's see how you like it, yami."
Ryou leaned over Bakura, sobbing. "Bakura, Breathe! Please breathe! Oh my god, Yami almost killed Bakura!" Ryou kissed Bakura's forehead repeatedly. "Gods, baby, please breathe!"
Aria's spiky hair became less spiky and her eye color had returned to normal. The Sennen Eye had disappeared as she crawled over and cuddled beside her father's chest.
"Daddy? Please breathe!"
Ryou turned Bakura's head and breathed into Bakura's lungs. "Gods, baby, breathe! Come on, love!" Ryou breathed into Bakura's lungs again. Bakura wasn't breathing. "My dark angel, please!"
Robbie gripped onto Miranda tightly. Aria snuggled into Bakura's cold body.
"Aria, does daddy have a heartbeat?"
Aria put her ear against her father's chest. "It's quiet and slow."
Yugi ran into the back room and brought out a towel. "Use that to take Bakura home."
"Yugi, are you going to assemble the Puzzle again?"
Yugi nodded. "I'm going to wait a little bit though. I think Yami needs to learn a lesson first."
Ryou looked down at Bakura. If Bakura had Soulroom Sickness, his body must have put all his energies into keeping his false heartbeat going.
"We have to get Aria back to Tristan and get Bakura home to bed."
Aria pouted. "But, my daddy needs me! I can't leave my daddy!"
"Aria, Mommy Malik is home and I don't want him to hurt you."
Aria picked up a piece of the Millennium Puzzle. "I can take care of myself!"
Ryou shook his head. "No, Aria. You are going to stay with your brother for now. He needs you, too."
Aria pouted. "Pomise you take care of daddy, mommy?"
Ryou ran his hands through the white locks. When he pulled his hand away, he had a handful of Bakura's hair.
"Yami! Bakura's losing his hair!" Ryou opened Bakura's eye and it was completely white.
"I will take care of daddy, Aria."
Aria handed the piece of the Puzzle to Yugi. "I'm sorry I had to do that, Unkie Yugi."
Yugi shook his head. "It's okay, Aria. I can put it back together again."
Aria growled at the pieces in Yugi's hand. "MEANIE AUNTIE YAMI!" Aria turned up her nose at the pieces and strolled out of the Game Shop as if nothing had happened.
*****************************
Miranda dropped Robbie off at home. Robbie could be trusted alone for a short period of time despite his young age. Robbie was going To play with his G.I. Joe dolls, but he remembered that he and Aten used to play with them. Instead of playing, Robbie sat on the floor of his bedroom sighing at the dolls and the play clothes he had still forgotten to pick off of the floor. "I miss Aten."
Meanwhile, Miranda helped carry Bakura into the house. Malik raced out of the kitchen and stopped when he saw Ryou was with the woman. Ryou carried Bakura upstairs to the bathroom where Miranda held Bakura as they sat him on the toilet. Miranda watched Ryou wash Bakura down, blushing and turning her head as Bakura washed Bakura's more intimate parts. Once they cleaned Bakura, they laid Bakura in the bed and covered him with clean blankets.
"Thank you, Miranda, for helping me with him."
"What was that weird eye on Aria's forehead?"
Ryou scratched the back of his head, trying to think of yet another answer that would make sense, but not scare her away.
"That's magical powers called Shadow Powers. She's been doing that for a while. Bakura told me that she sent things and her teacher to the Shadow Realm."
"I see."
Malik entered the room and Ryou cringed. "Ryou, can I see you for a moment in my room?"
Ryou lowered his head. "Stay here, please," he whispered as he left.
Malik pulled Ryou into his room. "Where the hell did HE come from?"
"Yami freed him from his soulroom."
Malik growled. "You are sadly mistaken if you think he is going to protect you from me!"
The door downstairs opened and closed. "Ryou! I'm home for dinner!"
Ryou ran out of the room. "Be right down, Marik!" Ryou ran into his room. "Miranda, Marik is here. You can go home. Thank you for helping me."
"No problem, Ryou." Miranda hugged him and she ran downstairs.
Marik smiled at her and bowed slightly. "Hello, Mrs. Morgan! You look beautiful like always!"
Miranda giggled. "I see you're feeling better, Marik."
"Well, a little. Still hurts every now and again."
"Take care of Ryou, Marik."
"I always do, Mrs. Morgan."
Miranda winked at him. "Goodbye!" Miranda ran out to the car.
Ryou called to Marik to come upstairs. Marik came upstairs and opened Ryou's door.
Marik let out a scream when he saw Bakura laying in bed. "BY RA! What happened to him?"
Marik went to lift up the covers, but Ryou covered his hand.
"It's not an easy sight to see, Marik."
Marik took a deep breath and removed the covers to see Bakura's emaciated form. Marik went pale "What happened to him?"
"Yami called it….Soulroom Sickness."
Marik paced his fingers gently to Bakura's neck. "There's hardly a pulse!"
Ryou covered his face with his hands and sobbed. "I don't want him to die on me, Marik! He can't die!"
Marik stood up and walked around to the other side of the bed. Marik stood between Ryou's legs and pulled the weeping hikari to him. Ryou nuzzled his cheek into Marik's belly.
"I don't want my husband to die on me, Marik! Please say he's not going to die! Yami was ready to destroy Bakura!"
Marik looked at the bony back, the prominent bone structure, and the stillness of Bakura's chest. Bakura was still not breathing.
Malik peeked his head in and saw Ryou nuzzling into Marik. Marik lifted his head and narrowed his eyes at his hikari. Malik sneered back in a word-less battle.
Marik covered up Bakura's body again. "He just needs to regain his strength, Ryou. Just give him time." Marik lifted Ryou off of the bed.
"Let's see what we have for dinner. I'm starving!"
Ryou shook his head and tore his hand away. "I can't leave my husband." Ryou removed his clothing and pulled back the covers on the bed. "I will warm Bakura with my own body heat." Ryou slipped under the sheets and shivered as his bare skin touched the stone-cold skin of his yami.
Ryou stroked Bakura's face gently after gathering the yami's body into his arms. "Bakura, come back to me, love. Open your eyes, my angel."
Bakura's arms continued to be crossed in front of him against his chest. He lay still and quiet.
"Ryou, aren't you going to eat something?"
Ryou turned a teary eye to Marik. "Not until my husband takes a breath."
Marik gripped the Millennium Rod in his hands and returned downstairs to find something to eat.
Ryou pressed his hand against his yami's chest. Ryou pressed his forehead against Bakura's cheek. "I can feel your heartbeat, Bakura." Ryou's hand rubbed his yami's back and felt the prominent spinal column nearly exposed. "Bakura….I've waited so long to lay beside you. I've wanted to feel you against me. I waited so long to tell you….that….I love you, Bakura. Please open your eyes, my love."
Bakura remained motionless.
"You made me so happy, Bakura. You gave us a daughter. You gave me everything I always wanted. It hurts me so much to see you like this, yami! Please don't leave me!"
Ryou's thumb traced Bakura's lips. Ryou sniffled and brushed away a tear that trickled down his cheek. The hikari closed his eyes and placed a gentle kiss on his yami's cold lips.
Marik entered the room finding Ryou crying into Bakura's mouth.
Marik brought his food over to the bedside table. Marik pulled the covers off of Bakura and Ryou stopped his kiss.
"What are you doing?"
"Move over, Ryou."
Ryou moved over on the bed as Marik moved Bakura over.
"I am going to give a little energy to Bakura. It should give him enough energy to take a breath at least."
Marik gripped the handle of the Millennium Rod. "Rod, transfer some of my spiritual energies onto the Spirit of the Millennium Ring!"
A flash of bright light filled the room as Marik clenched his teeth. It had taken him a while to restore what little energy he had since Malik's attack. The Rod drained a small portion of his energy into the unconscious Spirit in the bed.
The light diminished gradually as Marik sat on the bed panting heavily. He gripped his stomach.
"That…..was……..not good…"
Ryou felt a tinny puff of air on his hand. Another. Another.
"Bakura's breathing again!"
Marik laid down in the bed and covered himself with the blankets. He wrapped his arm around Bakura's waist. Ryou wrapped his arm around Bakura's shoulders. Marik and Ryou shifted closer to Bakura to warm up their lover's cold body.
"Marik? Are you ok?"
Marik nodded. "Yes. That was more painful than I expected, but it was nothing too bad."
"Thank you, Marik. Because of you, Bakura can breathe."
"How is he breathing?"
Ryou shook his head. "Very weak, but it will be fine for now."
Ryou gave a kiss to Bakura's forehead. "I love you, my precious angel." Ryou snuggled into Bakura, smiling.
