Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Hostile Takeover ❯ Twelve Years Later ( Chapter 74 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

I do not own the hymn "Nearer My God To Thee." I really loved that song on the "Titanic" CD, though. It's so sad.

Dragon Tears: They will never change. No, I don't know about that anime.

Ryou's Mistress: Hmm…well, you'll be threatening my life probably once during the sequel.

chaos queen: poor Ryou and Bakura. Seto should have soundproofed their room.

light: Yami used mind crush on seto. All I know is it created a Yami Seto. I'm still trying to fit in where Yami tries to make Bakura is bed slave again.

Elffs Light: Just like in Egypt, the pharaoh always gets what he wants.

bakachibi voidfox: mmm..lemon.

Lady Elfskye: No, Aku isn't going to be able to get hold of Anzu…she's too stupid.

Terra: Marik and Malik will always be naturally kinky, I think. I thought the NCS would change them, but I should have known better.

Sweet Misery: I write all the time. Joey painted the toyboxes. It looks impossible, but I had a lot to fit in.

Shadow of Light: Aten and Aria are 15 here. I don't know what mas o menos means.

Rezyra Sugamori: I'm not sure if I could use the Marik's sister idea, but you never know. I could probably fit it in and make it plausible in the time line. I'll have to see. I updated "Carry me home" yesterday.

Maruken: That was so long ago with the squirrel!

ZL Chan: That surprised me, too.

Valea: Aria loves her walrus plushie! This story is so long, but it's sad to see it go.

Broken Time: That was Mrs. Cinetti. I'm going to bring her back in the sequel.

Seto lover and Bakurasgirl worshipper: Aten: SHIRT WIF A MONEY??? ME WANT!

eternal princess: I hope you like this sotry! On with the next!

Twelve Years Later……

Bakura, Malik, and Marik stood in the jeweler's shop looking at the necklaces and rings. Marik wanted to get a piece of jewelry special for Aten's fifteenth birthday.

Bakura had already decided to get Aria a necklace saying "Daddy's Little Girl." Marik went to the jeweler, placing the Millennium Rod on the glass cabinet.

"I want to get a gift for my only son. I want to give him a replica of this item. Can you do it?"

The jeweler examined the Rod carefully and nodded. "I could do it. I received a piece of metal last week that looked unique. I was waiting to use it on a special order. I think that metal would go perfect for this."

"How long would it take to make?"

"Give me two weeks. I can have it custom made by then. Besides, you can't rush art."

Malik took the Rod in his hands. "Let me see this a minute. Marik, can you go outside for a moment?"

Marik left and took the opportunity to place himself back in his Millennium Rod. This way, he could keep an eye on his home and item.

Malik gave the jeweler the money necessary and handed him the item. "Please take good care of this. It is a family heirloom."

Bakura and Malik left. "Aten is going to love this gift!"

"I can't believe Marik wants to give Aten a silver Millennium Rod!"

Malik shrugged. "Marik wanted to be a special present for Aten's coming-of-age present."

"It's a little early for that."

Malik nodded. "Marik knows that. It's just….with Aten's heart condition…..you know. Aten may not live to see his "Coming-of-Age" birthday. You know how Aten's heart is. Marik wants to do this for his son."

Bakura sighed. "You're right. Well, Aten will be surprised."

*********************

The jeweler picked up the piece of metal that the local pawn shop had sold him just the day before. It was a twisted ring, the metal burned in a fire twelve years prior. It looked like the perfect metal to melt down and include in the construction of the silver Rod.

The jeweler held the metal which began to glow with an eerie glow.

//Mortal….now is the time. Melt this ring down. Make it part of the silver Rod. It's time for me to meet my new hikari….Aten Bakari Ishtar. I am Aku. I am Darkness.//

The jeweler shook his head. "This metal will be perfect! A unique metal will suit this unique piece of jewelry."

***********************

Aten stretched on his bed. He wiggled his toes as the machines around him beeped with the unsteady rhythm of his heart. He yawned as his nurse came to check his I.V.

"Happy Birthday, Aten," the nurse said cheerfully. "Any plans for today?"

Aten chuckled. "I dunno. Do you think Zira will discharge me for my birthday present?"

The nurse shrugged as she checked his blood pressure. "I don't know, Aten."

"Well, if he doesn't, can I make a special birthday request for my dinner tonight?"

Katie, the nurse, smiled at him. "And what would that be?"

"May I please have a second container of applesauce? That would make my day!"

The nurse chuckled as she checked the connection to the I.V. in Aten's hand. "I can see what we can do for you, cutie."

Aten smiled and winked at her. "Thank you. You're sweet."

Katie rolled her eyes. "You are a sweet-talker, Aten Ishtar!"

Aten shrugged. "Me? Nah. I've just been in this hospital room for too long."

He heard a commotion come down the hallway.

"I think your folks are here to see you, Aten."

Aten smiled and clenched his fists excitedly. He winced as the I.V. came out of his hand.

"Umm…Katie? I'm sorry."

Katie shook her head as she replaced the I.V. into his vein.

"Thank you, doll!"

Katie left as his mother, father, Malik, Bakura, Aria, Robbie, and Miranda walked in. They carried balloons and presents.

Robbie ran to Aten, throwing his arms around his friend. "Happy Birthday, Aten! How do you feel?"

"Can't complain. The I.V. stings, but other than that, no big."

Aria leaned down, giving her brother a big kiss on the cheek. "Happy Birthday, brother!"

Aten hugged his sister from his hospital bed, the heart machines indicating a sudden rise in his pulse rate. "Happy Birthday, sister!"

Marik ruffled Aten's white and blond hair. "How's my boy today?"

Aten shrugged. "Fine. I hope Zira discharges me today. Two weeks of looking at these same walls drives me nuts!"

Ryou kissed Aten on the forehead. "Well, sweetie, I miss you at home. We brought you a piece of Angel Food cake. We thought it may be a nice change from the hospital food."

Aten's eyes lit up. "Angel Food! Yummies! I can't wait. I'll have it after my blood test today. They'll be in soon to take it."

"Well, we should give you our presents now, right?" Miranda asked with a smile.

Miranda handed Aten a box and he opened it, his eyes bright like when he was a little child. Aten gasped as he lifted up the CD. "Classical Violin! Beethoven! Mozart! Strauss! Thank you, Miranda!"

"Well, I know you like to listen to violin music while you paint, so I know you'll enjoy this."

Aten hugged her with the arm not hooked up to any machine. "Thank you!"

Aria gave her present next. It was a statue of Isis. I know you would like it, Aten. That can go with your statue of Ra."

"Oh, sister! This is beautiful!" Aten hugged his sister.

Ryou handed Aten his present. Aten squealed excitedly. "Music Books for my violin! Thank you, mommy!"

Ryou kissed Aten's forehead. "I knew you would like them. They're all classical, your favorite."

Bakura gave Aten his present when Joey, Seto, Mokuba, Yugi, and Hayden walked in.

"Where's the pharaoh, Yugi?" Bakura asked with contempt.

"Umm..Yami isn't feeling well, so he decided to rest in the puzzle."

Aten smiled as he saw his uncles walk into the room. "Wow! Everyone is here to see me! You guys are the best!"

Seto and Joey covered Aten's face with kisses. The Egyptian boy blushed. Hayden and Mokuba hugged him. Yugi wrapped his arms around Aten.

Bakura gave Aten a statue of Osiris. "Osiris protected me for many years, Aten. I have prayed that he does the same for you."

Aten smiled as he looked on the black statue. "Thank you, Daddy Bakura! This will go great with my other statues!"

Yugi gave Aten several new packs of new Duel Monsters cards.

"Thank you, Uncle Yugi!"

Seto gave Aten a heart-shaped locket. Aten opened it up and discovered it had spaces for two pictures. "You put your picture in one side. When you meet that special someone, Aten, you can put his….or her….picture into the other side."

Aten kept his head lowered and raised his eyes to look at Robbie. Only Seto and Joey knew about his feelings for a certain someone standing at the foot of the bed with black hair and blue eyes and who walked with an obvious limp. Aten hadn't told anyone else...except his psychologist, Dr. Chapman. Robbie didn't know how he felt. He was too afraid to tell him.

"Thank you, Unkie Seto. I'll be sure to keep this close."

Joey gave Aten new paints, brushes, and a lifetime membership to the art museum. Now he could visit the art museum as many times as he wished.

Robbie walked up to Aten to give him his present. The heart monitor was betraying Aten's reaction. The heart monitor beat faster as Robbie approached him.

"Aten? I hope you like my present."

Aten took the box with shaking, nervous hands. "Thank you, Robbie."

Aten opened it up and it was a statue of an angel with a violin. The angel was dressed in a purple gown, a yellow halo circled her head. Her wings were spread and her eyes were cast up.

"She's a music box, Aten. Listen." Robbie cranked the key and the angel played 'Nearer My God To Thee.' "Isn't she beautiful, Aten? I saw her and it reminded me of…" Robbie stopped and looked around the room at the eyes focused on him. "It reminded me of….your music because it is pretty. Yeah, that's it."

Miranda shook her head. She knew her son loved Aten. It was more than a casual love. Robbie denied it when she asked him if he loved Aten. Robbie would blush whenever his name was mentioned and had caught Robbie moaning Aten's name in his sleep on more than one occasion. Miranda knew her son loved Aten. Maybe he was afraid of admitting to it.

"Thank you, Robbie." Aten wrapped his arm around Robbie, regretting having to let him go.

Hayden got Aten new jeans. Aten was still so skinny, that finding jeans in his size were difficult. Aten's ribs still protruded from his body, his medications making weight gain difficult. So, when Hayden found the jeans in Aten's size, he couldn't resist.

Mokuba gave Aten a black and white marble Chess set. Mokuba enjoyed games of strategy and knew Aten always admired his own chess set.

Malik and Marik were the last to give their present.

"Son, this is from Malik and I. We hope you like it."

Aten opened the present quickly, his heart beating with excitement. "Oh, father!" Aten held up a silver Millennium Rod. "Oh, daddy! Malik! This is great! Wow! A Rod of my very own!"

Aten hugged his father tightly. "Thank you, daddy!"

//At last I have found you, my new hikari! Together at last!//
