I May Never Come Back

Chapter 2: Somewhere to Go

In the shadows creped a figure, watching what appeared to be Yugi Mutou, but that couldn't be Yugi, could it? Not that sobbing figure in the corner of his room. Can't be. But it is, and the figure knew it.

The figure, a young man, jumped out of the tree he was sitting in. Slowly, he moved away from the Game Shop that Yugi lived in, down the street. Going unnoticed, he continues walking, a few people looking up at him now and then, but instantly looking away after seeing the cold, yet sad, expression on his face.

Walking to the park, his crimson eyes scanned around, making sure no one he knew was there. No one was. It was empty on that rainy Tuesday evening. He swiftly walked over to a swing and sat in it, preparing to become lost in thought.

After all, Yami had a lot to think about.

Yugi sadly looked over to his clock; seeing that it was 11:57 am. He took out his dueling deck from his pocket and looked at it, tears falling from his eyes, dripping on the cards. Slowly, he stood up from his bed and walked over to his desk, opening a drawer, and neatly placing the cards inside next to a dozen red rose that would soon start wilting.

"Yugi? Yugi! Come down here, lunch is ready! Yugi?" Yugi's grandfather, Solomon called out. After getting no response, he started walking up the stairs. "Yugi..." Solomon knocked on his door. "May I come in?"

Wiping the tears from his eyes, and trying to sound normal, Yugi replied, "Sure, grandpa..."

Solomon opened the door and stepped into the room. "Didn't you hear me calling? Lunch is ready!" A look of concern for Yugi crossed over his face. Yugi had been in his room since Sunday, and his grandfather was really worrying about Yugi.

"I... I'm not hungry..." Yugi said, sighing.

"But, Yugi! You haven't eaten anything since Sunday! You can't starve yourself like this! What's wrong? And where's Yami? I haven't seen him for a while..." Solomon asked, obviously oblivious to what had happened.

That was enough for Yugi. He broke down in sobs, unable to control his tears any longer. "Oh, grandpa... He... He... He's gone!"

Solomon gasped. Surely Yami wouldn't just leave! "Where did he go? Why? When? For how long?"

"I... I don't know! He just left! I... He..."

"Take it easy, Yugi. It'll be all right, I'm sure of it. Maybe he had to do something important..."

"Maybe..." Yugi continued to cry. `Or maybe he hates me...'

"Come downstairs and eat. I don't think Yami would want you to starve yourself..."

"Alright, grandpa, I'll be down in a minute..." He managed to say between sobs.

Solomon slowly closed the door and left Yugi's room. Many questions about why Yami had left were on his mind.

Yami snapped out of though. Where could he stay? He had to go somewhere; he couldn't just stay on the streets.

He got off the swing and walked down the street, thinking. `Seto's? No, too close to here. Who do I know that lives far enough away? Malik and Isis! That's it!' Yami ran to the nearest pay phone and dialed the operator; soon he would be talking to either Isis or Malik. Sure, Malik wouldn't let him stay there, but Isis would. He knew it, or at least he hoped.

He talked to the operator for a moment before she connected him to Malik's place.

"Hello?" A girl on the other end of the phone said, answering.

"Is either Malik or Isis there, please, I desperately need to talk to one of them..." Yami asked, hoping one of them would be.

There was a pause. "This is Isis speaking. Whom am I speaking with?" She inquired.

"Yami. Look, Isis, I need a place to stay for a while... I..." He started, not sure if he should go on.

"Say no more. I'll arrange a plane ticket right away. Check at the airport tomorrow to see when you'll be departing."

"Alright. Thank you," Yami mumbled, before his time was up and there was a click, indicating his call ended.

Isis called the airport to arrange Yami's ticket. She had little problems getting one. Not many people were coming to Egypt from Japan.

With that done, she called out to her brother, Malik, "Malik!"

"What?!" Came a very aggravated reply.

"Yami is coming to visit and will be staying with us for a while..."

"WHAT?!?!"

^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^

Yugi somehow managed to eat most of his lunch. After he was finished, he instantly went back to his room. He was feeling up for anything except maybe sleep...

^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^

Whoot! Took me a while, but there you have it! Chapter two! There wont be much of Yami after this chapter for a while. I just needed him here so you know he didn't just leave and disappear. *nods*

R + R, or I'll do some drastic! Hmm... Maybe Yami's plane will crash? Heh, heh, heh...
