Jounouchi wasn't sure when the pain started to ebb. It came and went in waves of agony.

Like a dreamer he felt he could almost hear the screams that war tore from its players. He was tired, very tired, and he wasn't entirely sure he was even awake, but he was gradually coming to his senses.

His skin felt stretched and pulled and painful, his eyes wouldn't open and all the sound felt like it was being filtered through a tunnel.

Slowly, in chunky bits and pieces his memory came back to him and the thought occurred to him that he'd been struck by storm dragon lightening. That explained why he was still alive.

He couldn't speak a healing spell, for some reason there was no moisture in his mouth or, it felt, in his body. But he was able to lie there, where ever he was, and feel alive.

Jounouchi's measure of life was always based on pain. The more pain he felt, the more chance he was alive. Right that moment, he was pretty sure his brain cells were fried eggs.

Jounouchi concentrated on trying to produce a sound, trying to summon the power to heal without moving required a sound of some description. But his vocal chords wouldn't make any kind of noise. That was not a good thing. Either he had forgotten how to speak, or something else had happened to his body when he'd been struck by lightening. He was pretty sure it was just lack of moisture.

Just lying there, where ever -there- was, he found he was slowly coming back to his senses; his hearing was slowly becoming more acute, he could feel himself breathing.

“-Get the wounded in the medical tent!” Someone was screaming. The rest of the words blurred off into noise.

He felt his body moving. Felt it in the way that something burning hot touched his body, his body feeling like an open wound, and hoisted him up onto something painful- probably a medical carrier. Jounouchi would have given a lot to yell out that he was in a lot of pain right then and would they be a little more considerate, but since his voice wasn't working, he didn't make a sound. He felt like a corpse.

A wave of pain passed over him and Jounouchi figured he must have blacked out for a while because when he came to again he was steady in a hammock or something, hearing the sounds of the wounded and the dying.

“God damn fucking potato tore my arm right off what I stumbled into the pumpkin. I thought the radishes were on our side.” Someone was whining in French.

Jounouchi's mind drifted slightly, he wasn't sure he was hearing things properly.

“That demon didn't even stand a chance against that horde killer spell… some kind of powerful magician whoever it was…” someone interjected in Latin. This made a little more sense, Jounouchi reasoned.

“I've never seen so many dragons killed in so little time by hand. When the sword broke on the third dragon he just ripped into them with his claws. They just exploded right out of his nails like spears…” this muttered in Fairy.

Jounouchi knew a critter with claws. Was it Kaiba? How had the vampire survived a direct blast from the storm dragons? Jounouchi wore an amulet of lightening protection, but Kaiba's armor was the basic lot. The thought occurred to him he hadn't thought about Seto being dead from that blast. He felt a wash of relief for that fact.

“Queens, have you guys seen that battle up there? I don't fucking believe it; I haven't ever seen someone move that quick, not even for an immortal being. That thing is just a killing machine. He's carved through the Elven ranks like it was putty. They were trying to retreat when I got called down here, but he just kept throwing spells. Their mages are dying like flies. I haven't ever seen that many spell eaters striking a user since the days of the first war.” An English speaking Fairy spluttered as he entered Jou's area of hearing.

It sounded like Kaiba was in a bloody rage. What had set him off?

“Who is this poor sod? He's been blasted by one of the lightening frogs.” An English speaking Fairy enquired. Jounouchi hoped his hearing wasn't going again.

“Not sure, the damage is too extensive to even tell if they're a mister Potato Head. Wow, look at Fried Teddy, catch the superbowl next year?”

Jou mentally winced; he hoped they weren't talking about him.

“Well, lets get some healing on him. We've seen to everyone else; may as well try and do something for him.”

A cool lightness settled over Jou and the Fairy felt a wave of agony dissipate under the gentle magic of another Fairy. His ears gave a sort of pop and a world of sound flooded through his mind. He could hear the moans of agony from the soldiers being patched up.

“Get out of here! The mad vampire is back on the ground and headed this way! Its like he's looking for something, sniffing the air like a wild dog, we tried to calm him but he… fuck, he ate one the men's throats out. Gather anyone who can run and give the man a wide breadth-” the strangled fairish warning ended in a scream and the sounds of panic erupting around him.

Jou winced mentally and tried to move his body but found none of his limbs were functioning. He could, however, feel moisture at the back of his throat, enough to maybe speak.

He tried for a `help me' but only managed to get a small whimper out of his lips. That was closer than before he thought. The hammock rocked back and forth as the healers moved and jumped. There was more panic in the tent followed by the swallowing silence of a quiet spell.

Jounouchi hoped he wasn't all alone in the tent with the vampire.

Something cool touched his lips and moisture filled his mouth, his tongue moved as though it had finally remembered its place and Jou felt relief flood him. Someone had stayed behind to try and heal him.

/My, my. What have I caught here? Can I get some fries with my deep fried Fairy? Is upsizing only three centuries? /

Jounouchi felt a lead weight sink in his stomach.

The moisture left his mouth and Jou mourned the loss. He needed water.

“Hmm, now forgive me if I'm a little rusty. It's been a while since I last tried healing magic. But do scream if it feels painful.”

A wave of cool pure healing swept up the right side of his body and Jou felt his fingers twitch.

“Oh! A twitch! You are alive after all. Good, good, now relax while I try and… fix this.” There was a pause in the words, as if the speaker wasn't sure what they were trying to do.

Another flood of healing washed over his left side and Jounouchi felt a light pressure against his eyes. He could feel the thick canvas of a hammock beneath him, the gentle presence of the mass murderer beside him, the touch of a breeze.

“Now, tissue damage… tissue damage… damn I wish I had of paid closer attention to the instructors in pre-school. It was a wrist twist, right? Yes… yes, twist just…”

Jounouchi felt the feeling in his legs start to return, his muscles twitching in response to his thoughts and shaking under his lack of control.

“As for this blackened, charred skin… I'll have to give you a more natural solution. Oh don't worry puppy. I'm sure you'll have nothing to complain about.”

The moisture was back against his mouth, wetter than before, and Jounouchi wasn't sure he really cared what it was. He felt one of his arms being lifted and the moisture on his mouth moved to his fingers, two at a time he felt the cool liquid sliding over his hand until he felt the agony of the skin on his palms starting to dissipate.

A long time passed and slowly the moisture, whatever the vampire was doing, worked its way around his right arm, and after a scream of agony from the fairy when his melted plate-mail was torn from his skin, the moisture set to work on his chest.

There was a pause as his left shoulder was started on and the vampire grunted something in a language Jounouchi wasn't familiar with. It sounded like a cross between Spanish and Chinese. Jounouchi spoke both languages, but this was something completely out of his league.

A hissing reply came from someone else and Seto's cold voice replied to it. A second wetness began to roll down over his skin and armor alike, he could feel the clothing he'd been wearing peeling from his skin and he cried softly.

“What the hell are you doing to him?” Honda's familiar voice cut through the sounds of Jounouchi's whimpering.

“What concern is it of yours, Fairy?” Seto hissed out. It was almost comical because Seto didn't speak Fae.

“It's my mate you've got there, vampire.”

“Ha-ha! If he were yours, he would smell of you. But you smell that? That is mine.” Seto lifted one of Jou's arms painfully and jerked on it slightly. Jounouchi managed a small whimper of pain. His back was still charcoal.

“You're hurting him! Stop it!”

“What I do with my toy is my business. Now… get out!”

No.” Both their voices had lowered to a growl.

The first prickling of dangerous magic rolled along Jounouchi's skin and the Fairy rolled his eyes. He wasn't a toy to be fought over. They couldn't just claim him like that.

He chose his own mate, not the other way around. And this wasn't Seto; he'd never choose this sadistic asshole talking right now. Seto was nicer, noted, he was a cold bastard, but he was still nicer. And Honda, well this was exactly the reason he'd broken up with Honda. He wasn't an object. Queen damn them both!

Jounouchi forced his body to move; whimpering at the pain that it caused his back. Luckily a certain someone had healed the muscle and tissue damage. Sure, his back was probably black and charred, but he could move. Groggily Jounouchi peeled his eyes open with his fingers. They were sticky and he had to blink his Fae eyes to life because his human ones couldn't see anything. The world went greenish around the edges and he turned his head somewhat painfully. He was going to make someone pay for forcing him to move.

Evil Seto and Honda were boiling up their spell energies, Jounouchi could tell Honda was bringing up some fire and Evil Seto was pouring power into an ice spell. Great. While they were both distracted he threw up a spell-wall between them, holding his hands out to strengthen the spell.

KRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

Jounouchi cried out as the magic hit the wall, Seto's power was too much to hold in and he crumpled under the force of the blow. The wall collapsed under the ice spell. The Fairy's line of vision was sent back to the ceiling and he saw Ta'gen. So that was the one who Evil Seto had been talking to.

He turned his head with a wince, trying to see the results of the battle; both combatants were looking at him now. evidentially he'd gotten their attention. Go him.

“B-both… of… ya'… list'n…. I'm…. I'm not… a…. fuckin'….obj-ject. D-don't…. don't…. ya'… d-dare… figh't…. over….me.” He managed to gasp out. The words dried up what little moisture was in his throat and he finished with a coughing fit. Knuckles going white on the sides of the hammock as he tried not to rock his back too much.

Evil Seto smiled and turned his back on Honda, an overconfident statement if ever there was one.

He approached Jou and gently took the Fairy's chin, leaning over the injured fairy like a prince from a fairytale about to bestow sleeping beauty with a kiss to wake her from her slumber. Jou tried to turn his head but Evil Seto was there, forcing their lips together, using his hand on Jou's chin to force the Fairy's mouth open; shoving his tongue deep inside Jounouchi's mouth. Jounouchi tried to struggle but short of trying to bite down on the Evil Seto's tongue he wasn't getting the psycho off him. The kiss was long and it took Jou almost a minute to realize what the Evil Seto was doing, it was his saliva he was forcing Jou to swallow.

Jou would have found it gross, but since it was sort of still Seto doing it, he couldn't help the little thrill that went down his spine. Evil Seto pulled back finally, having forced Jounouchi's hands above his head. There was that heat in his eyes that men get when they know they control your every move and are thinking very naughty thoughts. If it weren't for the fact that Seto's eyes were brown right then, Jou would have given anything to be alone with him. but those burning eyes being brown made things `not okay' as far as Jounouchi was concerned. Or at least that's what he told himself.

“Your desire laces along your skin like wild-fire and yet how can you say you don't belong to me when I make your whole body thrum with such thoughts, little fairy?” Again, Seto was speaking English and it looked so unnatural coming from the vampire.

“Stop… it.” Jou gasped out turning his gaze away from those burning brown orbs. Seto's eyes were cobalt, not brown. Damnit, it was a defilement of the laws of nature to change someone's eye color the fairy thought indignantly.

“No. I will have my body back, too long I have been locked away in the weaklings' mind.” He licked Jou's cheek in a slow, lazy motion.

“Get off of him!” Honda growled, Jou hadn't picked up on the building spell and his cry came too late when Honda released it almost cold-shot into Seto's body.

Well, at least it looked like the spell hit. There was the steady hum and Seto slowly turned, his body twisting to follow his outstretched hand. He had moved so fast that Jounouchi hadn't even seen a blur. That had to break at least one of the sound barriers or something.

The small shield Evil Seto had thrown up vanished, taking Honda's attack with it.

Seto growled.

~To Be Continued…

Sweet notes: This chapter has taken me ages to get through. Mou! Enough already. Reviews?

Seto: Hey, I was just thinking about what Emily-chan said about that fan of yours she met.

Sweets: Yeah?

Yugi: You know, Em was right, you're fans must think that you're a real tight-ass with the way you go on about things. Not to mention how violent you are.

Sweets: *bats eyes* Violent? Moi?

Yami: Yes. You.

Sweet: Bakana!

Malik: Is not. Just look at your response to Mr. Appalled.

Sweets: Yes, but he was obviously trying to be a smartassed idiot.

Bakura: TRYING to be a smartassed idiot? Isn't there a word for stupid sentences like that?

Sweets: Oxymoron.

Bakura: Sort of, but not quite… I'm searching for it… oh yeah! Stupid writers who can't write decent sentences!

Sweets: *pulls out a hammer* Say that again?

Ryou: Umm… Baku-chan….

Bakura: Yeah! And you're gay too! Stop writing about all the YGO characters being gay! We're so into hot chicks!

All: *blink*

Yugi: *whispering to Yami* Has Bakura been possessed by a flamer?

Yami: *whispering back* It would appear so….

Sweets: *hammers Bakura's head in*

Bakura: @.@;;;;;;;; *bleeds*

Ryou:… was that supposed to be a lame lesson about the fact that you only hammer flamers and not reviewers?

Sweets: Yes. Yes it was.

But anyway, more seriously, don't be afraid of giving me actual criticism. I receive it so rarely that all those people who go `ohh, you're the greatest' will eventually make my head expand to the size of a watermelon. While flaming doesn't receive a dignified middle finger with me, constructive criticism does help me become a better writer. Telling me that I need more description, or less talk, or more thought won't make me blow a whistle at you. So don't be afraid to tell me what you think I could work on.
