Chapter 21: Healing

(Last time)

The sun shined on your face making you wake up. But you realized that you were in the graveyard anymore...

(This time)

The room was bright. IF that was what it was, it was blinding your vision of things to clear in your mind. You shut your eyes closed. You then heard shuffling by where you were. You tried to move your right arm but it wouldn't obey. So you tried your left. It reluctantly followed the trail of where it was supposed to go.

You held your forehead as you heard the shuffling again. You opened your eyes and realized you were in a hospital bed. You had and IV running in your right arm. "That explains it."

Looking up you saw Joey and Yami in the room on the other side in chairs. They had there heads on one another, sleeping. (A/n: awww how cute! NOT in that way …that's kinda gross…they are best friends remember!) You smiled. Wait a minute. Its daylight. Vampires. NO. Daylight. Die. Death. "What are you doing here?"

Yami stirred and sat up at the sound of the voice, "NO…I don't wanna go to school." Joey's head fell in the place where Yami's head was.

The tall muscular man stood before you trying to look for the right words. "I-I….We didn't want to leave you there. Kaiba ordered us…"

You stared at him forgivingly, "Yami, I always knew that you weren't on his side. Joey too." At the sound of his voice he sat up and stretched, showing some of his abdomen. His toned chest took you by surprise and you blushed. Turning to Yami you started up again, "So you're m-"

"Yes…We are. And so are you and Kaiba. But Bak-" He stopped in mid sentence and caught the slight wetness in your eyes. Joey came up and stepped next to Yami.

"Did I miss anythin?"

Yami shook his head, "___, I am sorry." He paused a fifteen second pause, looking for the answers. "We went back in the morning. We found you there, but his body was nowhere to be found."

Joey cut in, "Yeah, we were really scared. We didn't know wut ta think." He scratched his head.

Surprisingly the door opened before Yami was about to speak. Tea, Ryou, Mokuba, Tristan and Yugi came through the door.

"___!" Tea ran up to you. "We heard you were here! But who- AHHH!" She screamed once she saw Joey and Yami standing next to the bed you were in.

Everyone froze. You forgot that everyone seemed to think that Kaiba, Joey and Yami were dead. "Guys…it's not what you think…um…I don't know how to tell you this, but-" You stopped and yelped.

Kaiba came out of the corner of the room that you didn't even bother looking at. He sidestepped the wires and stood next to Yami and Joey.

"Mokuba…" he breathed quietly. The raven-haired kid stared in aw at Joey and Yami, but stepped back when he saw Kaiba.

"Seto? I-Is that r-really you?" He stepped forward at Kaiba's nod. He jumped forward and landed in Kaiba's out stretched arms.

They hugged each other like no tomorrow while Tea, Tristan and Yugi ran for Joey and Yami. "A joyous reunion." You whispered to yourself while smiling before turning your attention to Ryou at the door. `Bakura is gone.' went through your head as you stared at him. He stared back at you. You looked down at your bed with your hands in your lap. You couldn't look at him. He looked too much like Bakura. But you knew it wasn't him. You felt a hand on your shoulder.

You looked up and saw chocolate eyes staring down at you. Ryou embraced you in a hug as everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the two figures hugging each other.

A few tears leaked into Ryou's shirt as he let go and stared you in the eye. He whispered something to you that you could barely hear, but caught every word of it, "He's closer than you think." He backed up still staring at you.

Silence covered the whole room like a blanket. Tristan finally broke the silence, "So…um…how…I mean…Where-"

"Tristan…don't bug them with questions. They will tell us when they are ready." Tea hit him on the head and turned to you. "Besides, we need ___ to get some rest."

You looked confused, "What do you mean…?" you looked down at your chest and realized that it looked slightly swollen in the middle. You touched your heart and understood there was a bandage under your hospital dress.

"Let's go guys." Tea motioned to the door.

"Wait…I want you guys to stay here. I mean...I don't want to be," you stopped. "I don't want to be…" Last nights memories flooded your mind. The lifeless Bakura flashed inside your eyes as Tears started welding up again.

"It's alright. You guys go. I'll stay here with ___." A British accent filled the silent room as everyone nodded.

Yami was the second to last one out, "We'll tell them everything."

Kaiba stared at you as he passed through the door last. Before he left he mouthed, "Sorry." While regret and sorrow flashed in his eyes. He walked out in one swift moment and left the door open. Ryou stood up and closed the door. His uneasiness never left his body. For he was shaking a little as he turned back to you.

"I just want to know what happened last night and every night before that." You looked down at your hands again.

"I-I…he…lifeless….gone…Kaiba….vam pire…" Your brain was completely failing to put words together and help them get out your mouth.

Ryou took a chair and seated himself next to your bed on the right.

"___? Please…I just want to know. I don't care if it takes all day for you to tell me. I'll wait for as long as you want to. But I will be here when the time comes for you to tell me." He gave you a weak smile as you looked up.

"No…" you whispered, "I want to tell you now and get it over with."

You told him everything from the beginning and middle to the very end. Ryou was listening to whole time you opened and closed your mouth to try and get the words out.

"I-I tried to save him….but Kaiba, he had the sword stake." You looked at Ryou's shinning eyes. "He died last night because of me." You looked down at your hands while clear tears were running down your cheeks on both sides.

You felt them being wiped away with a warm touch and tingling sensation from Ryou's fingers. You grinned at him, "Thank you for being here Ryou. I know he probably meant more than the world to you. And I don't know how you can sit there and hear of his death…" Tears leaked down your cheeks again.

Ryou quickly wiped them away again, but you felt soft warm lips brush against yours. You were surprised at first but as quickly as it came, it left while you relaxed and kissed him back.

He pulled away and put a hand on your cheek, "___, I hate seeing you like this and so would Bakura. That's why I did it."

You nodded and looked out the window of the hospital. (A/n: there's a window ok…doesn't all the rooms have one?) The sun was bright as you looked at it. Ryou saw the hope in your eyes and got up.

"I'll be right back." He left the room and came back five minutes later. "I talked to the doctor. He said that you can leave today if it's alright if you can walk." He finished in time to see the doctor come through the door.

"Ah…____, I see that you are awake. Your friend here says you are doing fine and wishes you can leave." You nodded, confused, but agreed anyway.

"___, you understand that your heart was replaced by another one. Since yours was nearly ripped into two pieces. We were able to save you in the nic of time……….Now the pain killers will be given to you before you leave and you are to take them at last three times a day. Pain can be excruciating when it comes to the heart…….Now I'll give you time to get dressed and I'll let you be on your way." He left the room while Ryou went to the chair he once sat in. He pulled out a bag that you didn't notice he brought in.

"I went shopping and I though you might need some clothes for you when you got out of the hospital." You nodded to what he was saying, but the voice in the back of your head kept nagging you.

How did he know you were in the hospital? How does he know your size? What kind of clothes are we looking at? Oooo…did he get you underwear? Or maybe a bra? Oooo…that makes you wanna think if he looks at you in a different way….

Shut UP…already. I love Bakura…no one else. And it there will NOT be anyone else.

You looked up at Ryou, "Um…may I ask how you know my size?"

He blushed, "Oh…I actually wasn't the one that did the shopping….Well you see about six to eight months ago, Bakura bought some clothes for you….you know for Christmas. But he didn't have the guts to tell you how he felt." He chuckled a little.

"But that still doesn't exp-"

"He had to sneak into your room one night and look at a couple of things. Then he had some girl in the mall go buy the sizes…" He giggled but still held a serious look.

You held a surprised look, "Wow…I never realized that he liked me that long. But that didn't give him any right to look at my personal belongings…"

Ryou stared at you, "You are right. He didn't, but that was in the past. I am sure you can forgive him, right?" He smiled a mischievous grin. "Plus that's Bakura for you." He looked like he chose his words carefully while answering.

"Ok…" you looked at him questioningly.

He handed you the bag while you sat up and attempted to get out of the bed. Ryou had to help you while set the bag on the bed. You started to take off your hospital dress, but before you did you turned to Ryou.

"Um…could you kinda help me and then turn around." He nodded and stepped up to you. He knuckles lightly brushed your skin as he untied each bow in the back. He stepped towards the door before you stopped him. "Ryou…Help!" He turned around to see you falling as you tried to manage to pull your pants up. (A/n: don't worry. The dress is still over you…..) He reached you in time before you hit the ground.

He balanced you again as you took his body as a wall for support. You leaned into his chest as you heard his heart beat rapidly. You stayed in his arms for about a minute or two before backing off. "No…I am with Bakura and forever will be." You pushed him back, rather forcibly. He looked shocked at first but headed towards the door with a smirk on his face. (A/n: wow Ryou? Smirking?)

As he walked out you breathed a sign of relief. `What was that?!' You mentally asked yourself. You ignored what happened and finally came to realize that the IV was still in your arm. You slowly pulled it out while flinching at pain and got dressed.

Bakura un-expectantly got you a black Victoria bra, with matching underwear. You finished putting on your pants while you looked down at your chest. Before putting on your plain black shirt you noticed the bandage on your chest and back.

They said you were lucky. But you had no idea how lucky you were. Your head snapped up as you realized that the stake went straight through your body. Why don't you have any broken bones?

You quickly put on your shirt and opened the door to find Ryou waiting for you.
