Chapter 7, Meeting the Fallen Ones

* * * Yugi's POV, his thoughts

I came to Yuugi's world to help Jounouchi stop drinking. And in return, Yuugi would lend Yami his body. //Then, I could show you the pleasures of love// Yami said to me before. I desire to feel Yami's pleasures of love, more than anything, but I'm afraid it won't be so simple. Jounouchi loves Yuugi deeply. Would he allow Yami to use Yuugi's body, so we could make love? Once Jounouchi has recovered, from his withdrawal symptoms, I'll ask him.

* * * Jounouchi's POV, his thoughts

I thought about the recent events that took place in my life, my father's death. Only last week he died, committing suicide because his withdrawal symptoms were so severe. Only a few alcoholics deal with the severest symptoms he dealt with, like hearing voices and seeing things that don't really exist. The voices told him the only way out of suffering lay in death. His life had been so difficult, that he believed them. He did what they asked, by killing himself.

A social worker at the rehab center called me. I hurried there; only to enter my father's room, too see his dead body lying on his bed. As much as I hated him for the pain he caused Shizuka, mother and I, I loved him. It's said you truly can't hate someday unless you love them. I once loved him so much, all of it turned to hate. Both love and hate consumed me, as I gazed upon his dead body.

The next day, his funeral took place. After that, the love and hate left me, replaced by a deep feeling of grief. I'd never faced death before, so I didn't know how to handle it. I should have gone to my koi's house so he could've comforted me. Acting foolish, I did exactly what my father would of done, I drank until I passed out, not caring if lived or died. Honda stumbled upon me coming out of a bar, and brought me to my koi's. He too, saved my life. Without my koi to take care of me during those few days afterwards, I probably would of died. My beloved koi truly loves me.

Why is it that I only realize that now, after causing him so much pain I suffering? I'm such a fool.

// You should've come to me. I would have held you, and let you cry in my arms. I want to be there when you * hurt *. Because, I'm in love with you, Jou-kun// my koi said before.

He loves me. With his love, I wouldn't be alive right now. I'd have lost all hope, all reason to keep living. How can I thank him? I also owe Yugi big thanks, for opening my third eye to show me all that crap in my aura, the black poison, and the alcohol that nearly killed me. And Yami, he made that tea to calm my symptoms. Zadkiel cares, too. He brought Yami and Yugi to our world in the first place. Everyone cares about me.

//Well, with so many new friends here to help me, I feel I can stop drinking, koi// I said to everyone before.

So far, even if it's barely been half a day, I clean. I'm alive. I know that everyone loves me, especially my koi.

* * * Zadkiel's POV, the next morning.

"Good morning! Rise and shine, children of the Lord!" I said, brightly, pushing open the curtains in Jounouchi and Yuugi's room, to let the morning light in. The warm light shined in through the window, falling on both of their sleeping faces.

Yuugi yawned, sitting up in bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. He blinked, tiredly. "Morning, already?" he yawned.

I nodded, smiling. "That's right!" I opened the windows, to let him hear the singing of the birds. The sweet melody of song sparrows filled the sunlit room.

"How beautiful they sound!" exclaimed Yuugi, getting out of bed. Jounouchi continued snoring, laying in bed.

Yugi came in awake and bright. "Good morning, Zadkiel, Yuugi-kun, what's for breakfast?" he asked, cheerfully.

"Breakfast! I'll make some. Can you ask Yami-san to make that herbal remedy for Jou-kun, again?" Yuugi questioned, stretching my arms.

"Sure," agreed Yugi.

* * * Yuugi's POV

A/N:

Yami is using Yugi's body now. Yugi and Yuugi are back in human form.

Itadakimas means, "let's eat." It's a tradition to say this before eating with Japanese. It's part of the mannerism and culture of Japan. My family and I say this.

* * *

I turned on the stove, to make some fresh miso soup and rice. Miso soup and rice is the traditional breakfast Japanese people eat. Miso is a salty soup, made of soybeans, with tofu, seaweed and fish flakes added to flavor it. Some people find it too salty, but I love it!

Yami placed the teakettle on one of the back burners, waiting for it to whistle. He just gathered the ingredients to make the remedy, from my garden in the backyard. His ruby eyes twinkled, full of enthusiasm and excitement. "I have no doubt your koi is on his way to a successful recovery."

"Thanks to your help, Zadkiel-san's and Yugi-san's," I replied, feeling a strong debt of gratitude towards all of them.

"We did what we could, but its really your love that's helping him," Yami admitted, leaning against the counter.

I didn't know what to say, I just smiled, feeling happy. Yami smiled too. The twinkle in his eyes brightened his sweet smile even more.

The kettle whistled. Yami poured the boiling water in the same mug, straining the drink like he did before. "This is for you, Jounouchi-kun." He offered the herbal tea to Jounouchi, as he came into the kitchen.

"Thanks, Yami. Ya don't know how much better I felt after ya gave me that drink last night," he commented, taking the mug in his hands.

"I'm glad it helped, Jounouchi-kun," answered Yami, cheerfully. He sat down at the table, besides Jounouchi, waiting for breakfast to be served. Zadkiel joined them, too.

I turned the flame down on the burner, so the miso wouldn't boil. If you boil miso, it ruins the flavor giving it a burnt taste. You have to lower the flame, at the right time, if you want to make perfectly flavored miso soup.

The fresh smell of the miso filled the kitchen, making everyone hungry. I served the soup in small bowls, along with the rice separately. "Itadikimasu," said everyone politely, before eating.

"Great miso soup! You made it just right," complimented Yugi, enjoying the soup and rice.

"It's great!" exclaimed Jounouchi, savoring its taste.

"For food made on Earth by humans, this isn't bad," remarked Zadkiel, quite pleased by the taste.

Jounouchi, Yami and I chuckled, lightly.

"What do they make it Heaven?" inquired Jounouchi, still chuckling. I noticed my koi's complexion improved, since yesterday. That rosy glow that left his cheeks once he started drinking, returned.

"Nectar, ambrosia, bread with honey," recalled Zadkiel, thinking about Heaven's food. "But Earth food has a quality to it Heaven's food doesn't. Heaven's food tastes too perfect." As he drank the miso, an expression of appreciation passed over his face.

Jounouchi, Yami, and I nodded.

* * *After breakfast

"What are our plans for today?" I asked suddenly, feeling restless at the breakfast table.

"How about the beach?" suggested Zadkiel.

I glanced at Jounouchi, questioningly.

"I'm up for it," answered Jounouchi, finishing his herbal tea. "Let's go!"

* * * Yugi's POV, at the beach

Near the shore, the crystal clear water, in small gentle waves, lapped up against the white sandy shore, leaving behind a trail of bubbly foam. Further out, the crystal clear water turned a light green, showing coral reefs underneath. Most beautiful of all, were the places where the light green transitioned into a rich blue, forming an aqua hue. Very far out, a deep cobalt blue stretched out to the horizon and beyond.

A warm sea air, caressed my body, as ran out on the sand, silky on the soles of my feet.

"What a beautiful day, Aibou!" exclaimed Yami to me, mentally. "The beach is a great place to relax, especially after all the stress everyone's been through."

"I know!" I replied.

"Wait up!" called out Jounouchi, running up to me.

Yuugi and Zadkiel lay sprawled out on their bamboo beachmatts, relaxing. A group of beachgoers came into view behind them.

"Check out that guy! He's clad in leather on a hot day like this." Jounouchi pointed to the tall skinny one, with ghastly white skin and flame red hair.

I gulped, trembling at the sight of him. His aura was pitch black! The man with the shaved head, the woman and platinum haired teen only had partly blackened auras. Zadkiel and Yuugi sat up, wondering what was going on. Jounouchi and I hurried over to them.

"Why can't I talk to them!?" complained the teen to the flame haired man. I guessed by `them', the teen referred to my friends and I.

"Can you be less strict with him, my lord? He's still a child." The man with the shaved head stepped in between them, backing the teen up.

The red hair man shook his head. "No."

The teen frowned at him. "Why can't I talk to them?"

"Because lad, they aren't like us. They'll influence you to turn to God, then you'll no longer be one of my fallen children," he explained, gently. He gestured to the woman, man and teen to leave. They nodded, following him.

"What was that about?" murmured Yuugi, curiously.

"I don't know, but their presence frightens me, especially that of the red haired one," answered Zadkiel, truthfully.
