Chapter Four
Charcoal colored clouds lined the once blue sky, threatening to cover the city of Domino in rain. This had been the repetitive forecast of the past few weeks of the summer.
Yes, summer had finally lashed out of it's hiding and made itself known. School had fallen towards its ending point as the children and teenagers were free from the so called prison.
Of course each youth adored the two and a half month break, but things were different for one young boy.
Said boy walked home, feet pounding across the semi-wet concrete. His fairly strange spiked tri-colored hair swayed back and forth as the wind splayed through it's core.
Large downcast amethyst eyes gazed down at large black and white tennis shoes that covered his feet. It seemed that he had dropped all thoughts and knowledge of reality around himself as he continued to walk across the sidewalk.
Yuugi Mutou sighed as he continued this walk, his mind had fallen into a deep train of thought, expressing his frustrations through his large naive eyes.
Things had become very different within the past two months of his teen aged life. His entire home-life had become completely different.
For the past nine years his mother had fallen into an insatiable depression over his deceased father. He cringed upon the mentioning of his father. For he felt nothing but hatred upon him for mysteriously disappearing that night, or as the story told by his mother.
Yuugi continued to walk home as he heard the low rumbles of thunder echo throughout the town's barriers. The predicted storm that had ended only a few hours ago had began to pulsate all over again.
The boy groaned as he quickened his pace to his house, hoping to dodge the soon to fall rain.
After fifteen minutes the all infamous yellow and green building of his home had come into view, sparking in the exotic mirth that was of the Kame Game Shop.
Yuugi used to love the building since childhood but now at the game of fifteen the boy could care less of its existence. For it held painful backstabbing memories of his deceased father that he had prayed to forget eventually. Yet nine years had passed and the boy couldn't help but feel a large hollow shell of emptiness placate through his heart. The weight of his mother's depression all leaned towards the man that he had felt so strongly close to, the one who had once filled that dark hollow shell in his vast soul.
The teen's eyes began to water as he thought of his torn family. Only a few members were left on father's side. For his mother's family had long ago passed away or had lived across the globe in Los Angeles California.
Yuugi was soon pulled from his darkened memories of the past/present as small boy with ebony colored hair launched into Yugi's unsuspecting arms, hugging him tightly.
Surprised the teenager blinked and looked down to see one of the few members of his family.
“Mokuba? What are you doing here and why are you hugging me too death?”
The most precious sapphire orbs blinked up at Yuugi as Mokuba removed his tight grasp over him.
“Yuugi! I missed you so much. Big Brother brought me over as soon as he heard what had happened.”
Amethyst eyes narrowed in suspicion as Yuugi bent down to his cousin's eye level.
“Mokie, what are you talking about? What happened? Why is your brother over at my house?”
The fifteen year old was utterly confused by the presence of his father's family. For they never visited except on holidays or rare weekends when Mokuba bribed his brother to come visit.
“You mean you don't know? Seto told me that you would know what happened.”
Yuugi only offered a perplexed look at his cousin as he shook his head.
“Look Mokie, I have no clue what has happened. Why don't you just come in with me so I can get some details on it okay?”
The small Kaiba nodded as he gripped his elder cousin's hand, power walking into the Kame Game shop's entrance, only to have a run in with three unexpected people.
There on the couch sat Seto, Jou, and Sugoroku. The boy became even more perplexed by the sign of a bloodied hand print upon the side of the wall. Something was up or had happened and he was going to find out.
“What is going on?” Yuugi stated flatly, crossing his arms in disdain, glaring at the three occupants that sat on his couch.
The addressed men all gazed at the small look alike of Yami as they shifted in a nervous manner.
The boy was becoming impatient as he tapped his foot against the beige carpeted flooring the living room.
“Guys seriously, this isn't funny. I need to know what the heck has happened.”
Of the three men, only one took the stand. One that greatly resembled Yugi in a few apparent ways. Sugoroku stood quietly as he as walked over to his slightly taller grandson.
“Yuugi as you have speculated, something has happened.”
Rage was beginning to run through the teen's veins as he gazed at his normally happy grandfather.
“Well what happened?”
The aging Mutou sighed as he placed his palm upon Yuugi's shoulder.
“My boy, something had been going on since before this the day break of this morning. Your mother has been acting odd for the past day and a half and I had come over to check on her. Though it seems that I wasn't able to find out much more since she wasn't conscious.”
Amethyst irises began to dilate as the words of his life shattering existence plagued his mind.
“She did it didn't she?” he whispered, slowly beginning to shake as reality came crashing down.
“...”
A nod was his soul response as the boy darted past his elder's running up the vast staircase. He then came to his room, throwing the door open as he then entered, slamming it locked in the process.
His slim body collapsed upon his soft blue covered bed, thrashing against the sheets as crystalline tears fell down his cherubic face.
Pain and old emotional wounds had all recovered their existence upon his soul. His chest heaved up and down, shuddering under the weight of his wounded heart.
Incoherent words of many came into a splay of mumbles out of the youth's mouth as he pounded his fists upon the soft bed.
“Dammit! How the hell could she does this? Why did she end it all?”
Tears continued to fall from his face as choked sobs escaped his throat.
“Mom why did you kill yourself! You're all I had left. First Dad is gone and now you! Why the hell did you do this!”
A few minutes had passed by as Yuugi's emotional breakdown had ceased, leaving him in the form of complete dire need of comfort.
His ears caught on as he heard his doorknob twist, soon opening to reveal someone who he had never gotten along with in his life, Seto.
Cobalt eyes pierced through the core of Yugi's distraught form, bringing him into a plague of anger and hatred.
“What the hell are you doing in here?”
No response was heard from the CEO as he rolled his eyes, soon finding himself sitting next to the small boy on the blue covered bed.
“Kid, you need to buck up. Things may have fallen towards the end in your eyes but seriously you're fifteen years old, act like it.”
Yuugi sniffed as he rubbed his large eyes. “Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that?”
“I'm your cousin. I'm just trying to calm you down. Now will you come downstairs and allow us to help you out of your misery?”
Unwillingly, Yuugi nodded as he felt Seto, pick him up, carrying him down the stairs.
He sighed heavily as he began to think of his life.
It seemed that things weren't always rainbows and butterflies as his friend Anzu had told him of as a child.
Life was more like a box of chocolates, never knowing what your going to get.
He then gave into his cousin's estranged form of comfort as he rested his head on his shoulder, closing his eyes as tears continued to fall from his innocent orbs.
