Warning: Yuugi’s cursing takes effect again, along with his rebellious, sort of depressed state as well.
Chapter Six
Boredom consumed the barriers of the once vibrant room, drawing the small occupant into pure insanity. Shadowed walls of the purest ebony glowed, outlining the small room in complete darkness. The optical illusion of the walls increased, sending the images of a closed off space into the mind of young Yuugi.
Yuugi laid lifelessly on his large blue cotton covered bed, sprawled out lazily upon his stomach. His eyes gazed half-lidded out of the window, taking in the small droplets of rain as they cascaded down the cold glass window panes. This boy who had once held such a remarkable fetish with the small drops of rain frowned, rolling his eyes as he buried his face into a soft pillow.
Things had become unbearable for the young rebellious teenager. His so called vacation from school had fallen into the pits of hell. The entire freedom that he had once held so greatly in the palm of his hands had disappeared, now revolving around that of his bedroom.
His grandfather had just given him the all infamous lecture of his life. Two hours and a harsh scolding later, the boy now lay in his room degrading himself by gazing out his window, loathing the drops of rain into the nearest depths of hell.
Yuugi’s emotions ran rapidly through his distraught mind. His bottled anger was soon to burst, releasing his usual rebellious teenaged ways. This was not an odd set of actions for the boy. Every time he had been given a scolding lecture from his grandfather, he would become dull, mimicking that of a lifeless porcelain doll. His entire façade of his toughened exterior had shattered, now revealing what was left of that once innocent little boy who smiled and played games with his father.
Father… This word of acknowledgement sent shivers down Yuugi’s back, to the point of gritting his teeth in agitation and frustration. He still held a strong distaste for the man who was proclaimed his father. He still wondered whether the hell he was dead or if he had run out on his mother and himself. Yet the mentioning of his mother sent a few stray tears down the duelist’s cheek. Oh how much he had missed the woman who had given birth to him. He felt lost and unwanted in this world since the day she had committed suicide, all because of his father’s disappearance.
Yuugi sucked in a shaky breath, staring up at his disarrayed golden bangs. The once perfect lightening bolt shaped pieces of hair fell limply into his face, no longer glowing that magnificent goldenrod. The color had almost completely disappeared from the locks of hair.
His highly exotic features had begun to fade since he had turned sixteen, including his weight, hair, and once adorably shy personality. The old Yuugi had long ago disappeared.
Bolts of lightening flashed through the sky, lightening the darkened room of the sixteen year old. Yuugi’s frail form was outlined, revealing his true appearance of complete disarray.
Muffled words echoed from the depths of his mouth buried within the confines of his pillow. The duet of lightening and thunder had joined, sending loud ear splitting lights and booming sound across the city of Domino, alerting the small boy as he shivered fearfully.
Half-lidded amethyst eyes gazed up, blinking away the glazed look into the shadows, now taking in the full damage of the frightening storm that was taking place only a few feet away.
By now, the thunder and lightening combination had bothered Yuugi greatly, forcing him to bide his time and attention upon something constructive, something that held the shape of a half puzzled pyramid.
Golden flecks of the pyramid glimmered in the light given off from the storm, revealing the infamous item of Yuugi’s fascination. The all familiar puzzle of his childhood.
His small petite hands grazed the sides of the half-formed puzzle, eyes focused themselves completely upon the said item at hand. The infatuation of the boy’s fetish drew out his desire of completing the item at hand. Ten long years had passed since his first futile attempts, he needed, no he wanted to solve this puzzle of his father’s generosity.
Jagged pieces of miniature gold splayed themselves across the youth’s bed, lining the areas surrounding the puzzle as Yuugi worked silently. His concentration had completely fallen upon the task at hand, solving this worthy item of his time.
The final anchor towards his insanity was becoming complete as his ivory hands latched onto two pieces, twisting and interlocking them within the center of the millennium item.
Faint sounds of clicking ensued for over an hour. Success had been sought out, allowing a rare but genuine smile to grace Yuugi’s face. His hands grew shaky as he continued his mission impossible, adding piece by piece.
A sense of completion rounded itself into his heart, allowing some of his negative energy to vent away. The harsh emotions of kicking Weevil Underwood’s ass drifted into the air, becoming nothing more than a memory of the past.
Twelve pieces had made themselves fall into place, locking into the twisted, complex puzzle within the hands of the innocent Yuugi Mutou.
“I can’t believe it. You’re actually obeying me. You are actually allowing me to solve you,” Yuugi whispered.
Yuugi’s nerves stood on end, sending his human sanity into the gutter, now allowing his mind to drift into his thoughts. His voice continued to converse with himself, giving off a strange indication of insanity that was to ensue at any moment.
Click, click, click, click.
Pieces of jagged gold interlocked, forming the boundary walls of the sacred puzzle.
Yuugi’s dreams of rebellion had left his mind, soon being filled with hope and determination that flooded through his self confidence of completion.
With each piece added, a new sense of relief plagued the boy’s mind, sending his old view points of anger into the bay, filling it with emotions of pure ecstasy, and happiness.
His fingers trembled as the lightening flashed for the twenty-fifth time that night, achieving his chance of gazing at the nearly completed item in hand.
Only two pieces lay forgotten at the side, shimmering in mirth as Yuugi’s small hands caressed them.
The duelist’s amethyst eyes danced in excitement, growing as did the anticipation of completing the millennium puzzle.
His shaking fingers clasped at the two pieces, one stylized with the eye of Re, and the other holding the point of the puzzle’s under side.
Uneasily, the pieces found themselves in their desired places, in the center and on the bottom, leaving nothing in the wake of young Yuugi.
The puzzle sat contently within its captors hands, glowing profusely in the dark.
The eye of Re pulsated with bright light, sending waves of its shimmering goodness out into the boy’s ebony lined room.
Swirls of colored light danced across Yuugi’s walls, blinding said boy with the intent glare of pure brightness.
Yuugi’s hands reflexively placed themselves across the boy’s face, shielding the unwanted light away from him. Light was evil, he hated the light.
Of course this all ended with one final stream of the blaring light, sending the youth into a pitiful mess of agonizing screams.
The puzzle in his grasp shook, digging into the boy’s wrist, drawing blood from the very veins.
His blood curdling screams bounced off the walls, echoing back into the depths of the puzzle.
All hell broke loose as the boy’s body convulsed, falling to the floor as the insignia of the eye of Re seared its way across Yuugi’s forehead, blinding his vision, sending him into a pitfall of darkness. His eyes welled with tears as pain surged through his forehead, sending him into the darkness as a set of crimson eyes flooded through his vision, along with the words of a foreign language.
“Akhu biAw.”
To be continued….
I’m not completely certain if I had translated that into the right form of ancient Egyptian but I will correct it if it is mistaken and this statement doesn’t hold any advances in yaoi or anything, you will see in later chapters what it means.
Translation:
Akhu biAw: Light, mine.
