Forgive the lateness of this update, information as to why this took so long is due to college again, and lack of interest.

This chapter was inspired by my kame “Yami”. Without him, this chapter wouldn’t have been written.

Chapter 7

Yuugi groaned, tossing his body onto his side, blankets tangling around his slender form. His eyes lifted, half-lidded with excess fatigue.

Dark circles outlined the lower half of his shallow face. His tri-colored locks of hair stood on end, splaying into numerous disheveled spikes.

The poor sixteen year old blinked, yawning deeply in the process. His body ached all over, hell it felt as though hell had taken over his once calm, timid nature.

Sluggishly, Yuugi pulled himself up, sitting upright. His gaze lazily took in the surroundings of his cryptic space of a room. The usually tidy room reflected that of a teenager’s precision. Clothes laid about, covering the surface of beige carpeting. Textbooks of his World History course lay open, currently holding the sections of the ancient Egyptian empire.

Yuugi craned his neck to the side, staring at the large glass aquarium upon his bookshelf. Crystalline water sparkled, shifting into small wakes as a medium-sized turtle surfaced, climbing onto a floating piece of driftwood.

The turtle itself held a special closeness to the teenaged boy. Yuugi had raised the reptile since the tender age of six, given to him by none other than his father. The boy sighed, smiling slightly as the black and yellow turtle opened its mouth, yawning discreetly. Beady eyes of pure onyx had locked onto Yuugi, staring intently at the boy curiously.

The teen’s smile widened somewhat as he withdrew the kinks from his back. “Morning Yami, you already in the mood for breakfast?”

The turtle merely shifted his footing upon the solid piece of driftwood, lowering himself back into the icy crevices of crystal-clear water.

“All right, suite yourself little guy.” With this said, Yuugi pulled himself up, stretching his sleep dawned legs.

Satisfied with the regaining of composure, the boy headed off towards his bathroom, gazing at himself in the full length mirror.

His disheveled appearance reflected back upon him, causing a strangled sigh to escape from Yuugi’s mouth, all until he felt a foreign weight upon the center of his chest.

“What the hell?!” Perplexedly, he craned his neck again, gazing at his torso. Eyes of the purest amethyst widened in surprise as a large mound of gold shimmered from the lengths of a strained piece of brown leather.

Curiously, Yuugi grazed the item of complete mystery. His slim fingers caressed the item, pulling back at a surprisingly warm touch.

Heat coursed through Yuugi’s fingertips, causing his brows to furrow. Wasn’t gold supposedly cold at the first touch?

His thoughts drifted away from the heated touch, now focusing upon the relic’s appearance.

An inverted pyramid of specifically accurate detail hung heavily around his neck. Intricate designs had been carved into the pyramid’s very surface, falling into a pattern of oddly angled triangles.

Yuugi traced his fingers across a specific carved line, following its journey towards the pyramid’s center, revealing that of an infamous eye.

“The eye of Re… Grandpa always told me that this was the symbol of our ancient ancestor.”

At the boy’s light touch, a dull light grew in intensity, frightening the young boy to no end.

Yuugi stumbled back onto the cold tiles of the bathroom floor, shaking frantically. His eyes widened considerably, fear coursed through his violet depths. He had become fearful. He wanted to dispose of the frightening pyramid.

Sitting on the cold tiles, Yuugi collected his composure, breathing heavily as he stood on shaky legs.

With one last gaze in the mirror, the teen hurriedly brushed his teeth, bolting out of the room in pure fear. With feline instincts, the duelist pounced into his room, pulling at the item around his neck.

The worn brown leather stretched around Yuugi’s neck, wrapping around his fingers in plain annoyance.

Yuugi growled, continuously pulling at the offending pendant. The item wouldn’t budge, it was as if it was melded to his neck.

Tears of frustration sprang free from the teen’s large eyes, falling down his cheeks in pure desperation. His fingers clenched tightly at the leather, pulling once again at the necklace.

“Why won’t you come off?” He screamed, losing patience with the task at hand.

Yuugi’s eyes narrowed, locking onto the puzzle around his neck.

“Heed my words you stupid hunk of gold, I will have you removed with in the hour.”

An hour had passed since the teen’s dead-set determination had become a lost cause. The boy growled low in his throat, sitting on his bed with a very large set of pliers in grasp.

An evil glint sparkled in his eyes, causing a spark of insanity to flow. Oh yes, Yuugi had gone off the deep end.

“Heh, I told you that I would remove you with in the hour,” Yuugi whispered, unclenching the handles on the pliers, and placing the worn brown leather within.

With a flick of his wrist, the handles closed in, tightening around the brown cord. After a few sickening snaps, the cord broke free from Yuugi’s neckline, sailing down onto the beige carpet.

A smirk of triumph planted itself across his face, almost becoming sadistic in a sense. The teen crossed his arms, glaring down at the golden relic.

“Heh, stupid piece of gold. I have no idea why I even solved you in the first place.”

Yuugi’s actions had surfaced rather soon as the Egyptian artifact began to shake, glowing profusely in proximity. The duelist could only watch in awe as the item hovered from the floor, floating silently into the boy’s small hands.

Immense heat coursed through the boy’s hands, sending tears of eradiate pain, soon falling through the center of his veins. He attempted to scream, only then to become muffled by darkened swirling shadows.

Yuugi’s body convulsed, falling onto the unmade bed behind him, eyes drawing shut in the process.

Moments later the light dissipated, sending the gripped puzzle onto the bed, tumbling silently towards the floor.

Something odd had been set into action. Something that bound a small boy to a puzzle of darkness.

White walls glowed in pale foreboding light. Scents of anti-septic cleansers hovered through the air, sailing across the void sense of emotion.

Contraptions of numerous usage blinked, flickering neon colored lights and echoes of sound. Plastic tubing lay unceremoniously upon a bed, with raised railing, wrapping around starched sheets and hardened pillow cases.

A young man of shadowed appearance blinked, opening his blurry eyes of pure exotic crimson. The conditions of the hospital room confused him, soon sending chills down his back.

Dulled, once vibrant bronzed hands clutched the starched blanket, in taking its consistency of feeling.

He cocked his head to the side, blinking continuously as the melodic beeping of a heart monitor echoed.

“What the hell am I doing here?”

His question remained unanswered, leaving him the options of his current conflict.

With the flick of his wrist, the sounds of frantically dying beeps from the heart monitor flickered through the room as the image of a straight line formed upon the main screen.

Quickly, the man jumped out of the bed, feeling quite queasy in the process. His eyes scanned the interior of the room, falling onto a set of neatly folded leather clothing.

“Leather?” He shrugged, throwing the tight articles of clothing onto his thin body, hissing as he forced his muscular legs through the pants of complete tightness.

After finding a nifty set of boots, he bolted through the front door of the hospital room, cautiously striding out of the building in firm apprehension.

The male’s crimson eyes flickered with unknown power, soon increasing as he headed downtown.

He needed to find the barer of this intriguing power… He needed it…

Yuugi leaned uncomfortably on his elbows, eyes lazily drifting across the glass displays surrounding the bottom level of his grandfather’s game shop.

The teen groaned in boredom, wishing for a moment of activity. Sugoroku had forced him into working in the shop, hoping that it would be something constructive on his so called vacation of suspension.

Two hours had passed since then, and boredom had consumed Yuugi’s mind.

Out of a newly acquired habit, Yuugi fiddled with a heavy chain around his neck, grazing the cold metal of an industrial sized necklace. The puzzle hung heavily form its base, smacking him in the chest. The puzzle shined brightly, alerting the teenaged boy of its presence.

“What the hell do you want now?”

The puzzle continued to shine brightly, soon following course of the tingling bells of the game shop entrance.

His amethyst eyes blinked, locking onto the front door as he began his over rehearsed monotone introduction.

“Welcome to the Kame Game Shop, how may I help……”

His sentence was cut short by that of a familiar set of eyes, ones that held a great significance to that of his past.

A fairly average height male walked into the game shop, eyes lingering upon the items stocked upon the shelves. His feet clicked absently upon the tiled floor, soon falling silent as the male’s eyes locked onto that of Yuugi.

A gasp erupted from both man and teenager, eyes o f crimson and amethyst locked onto one another.

“Who the hell are you?!”

To be continued….
